I just heard my brother say shrek 2 is about rejecting yassification and his not entirely wrong

And as he stares into the sky,

There are twice as many shrek characters as usual.

Ok so like I’ve been obsessed with the Shrek films for some reason over the past month, and I noticed something that’s kinda sweet.

Shrek just casually picks people up and carries them around.

Like when his friends are in danger, he just picks em up and runs

Or after he gets married, he bridal carries Fiona around like the princess she is

And for a good portion of Shrek 2, Puss is just chilling on his shoulder

I think it’s cute darn it

Everyone's talking about Shrek and Pinocchio's redesigns, but what the hell is going on with Donkey??

I think I'm tripping but something is not right here. What in the hyuck have they done to my people? 😭

I'm sorry, but I can't say I dig the new look because it kinda screams 'corporate' to me (which I guess durr---of course it is because a corporation is making it, but still) and it feels like their personalities are just...less present.

I can't even be mad at the daughter here, I completely agree with her reaction in the photo. Even she knows better.

I could at least easily bypass their new appearance because obviously people physically change over time, especially after having kids, but there's one aspect of this trailer that I dislike the most---believe it or not.

Character designs aside, even if they somehow were to be objectively good, there was NO reasons for them to turn the mirror on the wall into TikTok---not with the material they picked.

Not everything that's modern needs to be inserted. And even if so, at least do SOMETHING a teeny bit more tasteful with it. I would be at LEAST be more open to ignoring the character changes if they didn't put in THAT. I definitely don't agree with bullying the animators because the medium is hard, but my gosh---why the TikTok?

"Shrek had modern stuff in the other movies---" Yeah, but they weren't clips of a badly generated Shrek straight up twerking on the screen in latex.

If adding modern things for the sake of adding modern things is the formula for peak movies, then why is the Emoji Movie such a bad film? You can have modern stuff in movies, but at least have it be a well written addition.

The only thing that's gonna make me potentially forgive the TikTok thing is if (and this is a huge if for me) the plot is actually decent. Not even good---just let it be decent PLEASE.
