I just heard my brother say shrek 2 is about rejecting yassification and his not entirely wrong

Ok so like I’ve been obsessed with the Shrek films for some reason over the past month, and I noticed something that’s kinda sweet.

Shrek just casually picks people up and carries them around.

Like when his friends are in danger, he just picks em up and runs

Or after he gets married, he bridal carries Fiona around like the princess she is

And for a good portion of Shrek 2, Puss is just chilling on his shoulder

I think it’s cute darn it

I had an epiphany

about Shrek 2.

And its groundbreaking character-development-foreshadowing.

We all remember ‘Accidentally in love’, the opening song, where our newlywed protagonists are having the time of their lives

There’s this lyric in the first verse:

How much longer will it take to cure this? Just to cure it, 'cause I can't ignore it if it's love (love) Makes me wanna turn around and face me

HMMMMM WHERE HAVE I HEARD THAT 

OH I KNOW

Much later in the movie, when Shrek has turned human and is returning to the castle, determined to change for the woman he loves, and ‘Changes’ plays in the background

AND WE HEAR THIS:

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes                                                                                      Turn and face the strange

AND THIS (although this verse isn’t in the movie but it’s still IN THE SONG):

Every time I thought I'd got it made It seemed the taste was not so sweet So I turned myself to face me But I've never caught a glimpse

when I sing, I imagine myself to be jennifer saunders recording holding out for a hero for the 2004 cinematic masterpiece shrek 2

Ok but, Shrek's story is a very good inspiration for any ship's fanfic. I'm literally watching Shrek 2 right now and I'm picturing a lot of ships lol.

I really need more fics, headcanons, C.AI bots or whatever. I just want to see more ships inspired on Shrek bc I love the dynamic 😔✊
