Season 2 Spoilers below:
I just…I’m having a hard time with Crowley tempting Aziraphale to eat.
Like, we just established that Crowley is not capable of true evil.
And he and Aziraphale clearly know each other enough to have a dynamic. Aziraphale clearly knows Crowley enough to have faith in his fundamental hidden goodness. And despite all of his pretense, that faith means something to Crowley.
So…why tempt Aziraphale? It feels so…uncharacteristically sinister.
Is he trying to get Aziraphale to fall too? But why? Some part of him obviously likes Aziraphale.
Maybe he’s trying to prove a point? But what is he going to do if Aziraphale falls over this? How will he carry that for eternity?
Maybe he knows Aziraphale won’t fall, and that’s the point? But how would he know that?
What’s the point?
Watching Good Omens season 2 was like reading the most perfect, slow-burn 100k-word fanfiction in a nice, relaxing bubble bath surrounded by scented candles. But when you get to the end, you realise it's an abandoned, unfinished fic that was last updated five years ago, and you are left alone with this earth-shattering cliffhanger, and on top of that, someone throws a toaster in.
The only reason Crowley lived in his car instead of being roommates with Aziraphale was because of Gabriel staying with Aziraphale in the bookshop.
just finished watching season 2 of good omens screaming crying throwing up shaking violently why would they do that they should've stayed together why whyyyyy whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Anger
“WHY?! They were perfect together! It doesn’t make sense!”
Bargaining
“If only they had gone off to Alpha Centauri together. They would’ve been together forever.”
Depression
“(ugly sobbing) They were too perfect for everything, for all the other angels and demons, for this world and cruel heaven and hell. They were so perfect for each other, but now they are no longer together! (ugly sobbing continues)”

In season 2, Crowley was rejected by Aziraphale for the THIRD TIME. In season 1, Crowley offers Aziraphale to leave with him, saying, “We’re on our side”, but Aziraphale rejects his idea. When Crowley asks, for the second time in season 1, to “go off together” to Alpha Centurai, Aziraphale rejects the idea AGAIN.
In season 2, Crowley tries to convince Aziraphale they‘re on their own side, away from Heaven and Hell; Heaven and the angels who rejected them both aren’t worth going back to. But once again, Aziraphale rejects the idea and goes back to heaven.
During the rejections, Aziraphale states, “I forgive you.” meaning he’s rejecting Crowley’s ideas, not him.
Getting rejected by Aziraphale wouldn’t be Crowley’s first reaction. He is a fallen angel, after all; God, Heaven, and the other angels have rejected him. Even Hell and the other demons had rejected him after Armageddon. Heck, even Crowley himself seems to have rejected himself; he calls himself a “Former Demon”.
While Aziraphale’s first and only rejection seems to be him getting kicked out of heaven after Armageddon.
One of my favourite things about Good Omens is how there’s no homophobia.
Despite the biblical references, Aziraphale & Crowley’s relationship isn’t seen as a sin because of their sexuality.
Some may argue and say it’s because they’re an angel and a demon; they don’t have genders; therefore, they’re not gay. But they still present themselves as male humans to the general public and males around each other and Heaven and Hell.
Heaven and Hell don’t hate Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship because it seems like a same-sex relationship.
Heaven and Hell don’t like Aziraphale & Crowley in season 2 because they’re seen as “traitors” after Armageddon.
So, they’re not homophobic.
It’s similar to how, in The Owl House (another excellent TV show that got queer representation right), Amity’s parents hated Luz, not because she was a girl, instead because she was a “troublemaker human” to them.
While rewatching Good Omens season 1 & 2 I counted how many times Crowley calls Aziraphale by his name and the nicknames he has for him.
Here are the results:
Angel: 21
Aziraphale: 14
Best Friend: 4
Idiot: 4
Clever: 1
Bastard: 1
The fact that Crowley calls him “angel” more than “Aziraphale”, is so romantic, cute and sweet.
"The worst he could say is no."
Aziraphale: "I forgive you."
I am distraught, I am in ruins, I am a shell of a man.
Fun Fact: Aziraphale learned the dance Gavotte (this is mentioned in season one).
The final step of Gavotte is to kiss your partner. This explains why Aziraphale was upset when the Gavotte went out of fashion. I imagine he learnt it in the hopes that one day he might convince Crowley to dance it with him. But by the time he was brave enough to ask Crowley to come to the club, he couldn't because nobody danced it anymore.
Aziraphale had waited over a hundred years, waiting for the right opportunity, to ask Crowley to dance with him.
