the morning Riza meets Roy she had totally forgotten that her father's new apprentice was supposed to arrive that day, so she wakes up and goes to the kitchen sleepy and in her pjs only to find this cute 16-year-old boy sitting at the kitchen table with a book who smiles at her and is like, "Miss Hawkeye? Hi, I'm Roy, your fath-" and 13-year-old-Riza literally flees the room before he even finishes the sentence like:

Roy writing his first letter home: “Dear Aunt, I am in love. I’ve met master’s young daughter and only this week she held me at gunpoint, outsmarted me in chess and wiped the floor with my ass when i tried to help her with dinner. I’m gonna marry her”

My favorite hc for young Riza and Roy is that Riza is this feral country girl that hunts all her food, doesn’t have a ton of friends, and is very wary of her fathers new apprentice. Roy, on the other hand, is this dumb lil city boy who has been brought up with the number one rule in his household being Respect Women, and does not know how to approach this 12 year old with a gun who really doesn’t like him.

Hello there, looks like my last post was actually just a WIP.

Guess who took that picture ;)

Some nerd details I want to elaborate on here, this picture was taken in 1907 because the Ishbal civil war started on 1908, In my head Roy and Riza got deployed to Resembool (that is right beside Ishbal) in some kind of stationary job in the military as a preventive measure for the conflicts before they got to evolve into war.

Given that Roy and Riza met in 1905 as teenagers, they got roped into this political conflict and war at a very young age so I like to think they got to have some peace and enjoy their last teenage years.

The “Colonel Roy Mustang” comment can be taken as both the literal meaning of him being a colonel or as a satiric remark made by Riza in a teasing manner (if we want to do a deep dive into canon and think that he wasn’t a colonel at the time, he was most likely 19 or 20 when the war begun.)
