At my grandpa’s request, I made those reversible armrest protections so he can change the look of his armchair according to the occasion.
I used the old towel he’s used so far for the practical side and a thrifted linen tablecloth (and a ton of fusible interfacing) for the nice side. It’s super simple to make and wash, and my grandpa now will be a stylish disabled little old man. He actually only asked me to cut and hem the towel so he had symmetrical armrests but since he’s practically stuck to his armchair I wanted him to have something nicer and more versatile than a plain old towel.
Or pyjamas! Soft soft bedsheets would feel so cosy :3
Hello! I love your blog. Do you happen to have any ideas on what I could do with old sheets? The fitted has a large rip, beyond my ability to repair, but most of the fabric is fine. The matching flat sheet is in good shape. Unfortunately, every idea list I've found recommends making clothes, and the sheets are so faded and stained that I couldn't wear any clothes made from them. Still, the fabric is soft and (mostly) strong and I don't want it to go to waste!
Fabric's fabric! You can reuse them for whatever project requires fabric. If the sheets are clean and in good condition and the fibre type allows for it, you can always try to hide the stains by dyeing them.
Use them for projects that don't require pretty fabric otherwise, like reusable cleaning rags, stuffing, pet toys, linings that will never see the light of day, items that will get stained anyway like aprons,... Or you could turn them into clothes you only wear when doing dirty chores like gardening, cleaning, painting, car maintenance,...
I made a side blog for my upcycling/mending/painting stuff ( and a few personal thoughts)
There is nothing quite like meeting another person who likes to sew their own clothes as a hobby who also happens to a 20-something year old. Like, PLEASE be my friend! We can go buy fabric together, and we swap buttons too if you want. Tell me all about your current sewing dreams! ^^

From the school strike outside Town Hall in Sydney. Look at all these amazing signs! Look at all these amazing people demanding a better future from our politicians! I’m so proud!
I upcycled a few old shirts into makeup remover pads and o h m y g o d my hands hurt from cutting 56 of these with older, slightly dulled scissors.
whenever i show people i know my diy projects i usually end up getting some form of "i wish i could do that.", and each time im confused because, you can.
i cut up old pairs of jeans for fabric, use wall paint samples, hand sew with a sewing kit i found in the house and have slowly curated into a big tub of random supplies, and i stop the fabric from fraying with a random match box. as for artistic stuff, you can easily make stencils from paper!!
trust me, if you've ever seen some really cool diy shit and wanna try it out, you 100% can! a lot of diy stuff can easily be sourced from around your house or from others around you with unwanted items.
im currently going around to friends of mine seeing if i can debone their jackets (steal the zippers) and then return said deboned jackets, if youre broke or just dont wanna spend $50 on a white t shirt with cursive on it then make that shit!! trust me you just gotta get creative with what you use. :)
update!!! belt bag has been finished :) ill post a picture if anyones interested but im super happy with it and ill test it out soon. currently painting a mini patch to stitch onto it for decoration!
i love the stereotype of punk just being purely scary and insane. like ya theres definitely some odd balls here (love u guys) (most of u) but im literally making myself a belt bag from an old pair of jeans!!!!! im over here doing arts and crafts for the sake of the environment.
fuck capitalism i wanna sew a bag. that i can attach to my belt. with loops. a belt bag. for my little things. fuck you!!!!! ill go listen to my political loud music too!!!!!!!

hey! are you tired of mixing acrylic paint with random shit to paint your patches? interested in a paint thats a little bit too opaque and probably needs to be watered down? (thus giving you a bit more to work with!)
then heres an idea!: wall paint samples.
ive been using $5 wall paint sample tubs since i started making patches, and holy SHIT it works super well! since the paint is so opaque you dont tend to need very much, and because its meant for walls its overly strong and water resistant. the small tubs also give you plenty considering how little you tend to need!
"annoying anarcho! what about the fumes!" idk but it works great. wear a mask or something while you paint if you're really worried.
only con is that you need to be confident in your abilities! if you mispaint you need to either go over it in a different colour or wipe it away with water asap, otherwise shits great! if you want colours that arent different varieties of white then mix it with acrylic, hypocritical of me to suggest i know, but it works a charm.
or, if you dont like paint then household bleach can be pretty decent! its permanent, has a cool looking colour +effect and is generally in most households, just make sure your fabric works with it and do some test strips!
