seven hours later and i am still crying my heart out 😩🧡🧡
haikyuu posted its final chapter and i am crying so hard at how overwhelming it is. thank you for the eight years of nonstop plays, matches, laughter, tears, and connections. thank you for the three years of being in the fandom, of me hiding the fact back in tenth grade that as an unfit person, would eventually love and cherish something related to sports. it was all so amazing and i have never expressed this much interest in a sport before.
so thank you, haikyuu and furudate, for making me root for these characters and cheer for them achieve their dreams.
there are no goodbyes here bcos hq ends the very day i will stop making fics and fanart. all of the relationships and philosophies in this series are practically engraved on my soul.
🧡🧡🧡
i think haikyuu is just a series you can reread as you get older and it will always feel the same. everytime i reread i get the same emotions from the first time & actually, i get even more attached after every read to the story. it’s timeless. every lesson, every major moment, every feeling can be applied to any moment of your life. it’s a masterpiece!
when furudate wrote “today you happen to be the defeated. but what will you become tomorrow?” and then “nothing would ever get started if they didn't first think, 'let’s give it a try.'” and then “he who climbs the ladder must begin at the bottom” and then “we’re not limited to just one way of being great” and then “being weak means that there is room to grow” and then “does losing prove that you are weak? isn’t losing difficult for all of you? a challenge where, after ending up on your hands and knees, you must see if you can stand up again? if you stay on your hands and knees, that proves that you are weak.”
Hinata Shoyo is the perfect protagonist because he is allowed to be immature, to be selfish, to be childish and whimsical his whole life… all while reminding the audience that nothing is more powerful than bettering yourself. Nothing will get you further in life than self work and Furudate pumped that value into Hinata like steroids into his favorite Pokémon
