this took disgustingly long to finish. whatever
Yea typical for the Hotd fandom to be like the writers of the show (I sound like a crazy hater) and make that there favourites have done nothing ever wrong. (IMPORTANT: Both sides have this problem)
fics that make out like OTTO was the one in the wrong for the heir for a day thing….. have me dead
dude… like the only bad thing he did was be the spy guy when he wasnt master of spys 😭😭
but like theres nothing evil about having spies when ur hand anyway!!
and like wdym otto is in the wrong for it?? and not the man DAEMON who literally is celebrating his nephews death!!!
one of the things that bothers me this season, is that they used jaehaerys' death for the daemon targaryen character arc.
rather than to show aegon's full rage potential, helaena's awakening to the power of her dreams or aemond's reaction.
Is this a fucking joke?!
ALICENT has never sacrificed anything?!
Alicent has sacrificed EVERYTHING
She sacrificed her choices and happiness for Otto by marrying the King. She sacrificed her friendship with Rhaenyra. She sacrificed her bodily autonomy to give the king a male heir. She sacrificed her own safety for the safety of her children. She was prepared to die by dragonfire for Aegon, sacrificing her own life for his
But no. She has never sacrificed anything. Everything has been handed to her on a silver platter according to these writers
Meanwhile wtf has Rhaenyra sacrificed? A random knight so she could marry Daemon? A ton of innocent people for more dragons? Those aren’t personal sacrifices the way Alicent’s are. She’s sacrificing other people for herself
Not the same at all
And everything she has, she has been handed on a silver platter. Daddy named her heir, despite her treason in passing off bastards as heirs to Driftmark. She fucked off to Dragonstone and still was heir. She got the Riverlands because of Daemon, not anything she did. She got the dragons through evil means. Alicent offers her everything she wants
It it’s Alicent who has never sacrificed anything?
And now she’s being forced by the writers to sacrifice her son; the person she did all this to protect. Now she’s choosing Rhaenyra because this is redemption to the writers instead of the character assassination that it is
At least Olivia tries to save what she can by making Alicent have a panic attack
HotD episode 9 was bewildering. Being the first episode solely about the greens, I was apprehensive regarding how it'll be carried by the audience... in one word? Powerful.
What truly made the episode were certain quotes which blew my mind.
"We do not rule, but we may guide the men that do."
"And yet you toil in your service to men... you desire not to be free but to make a window in the wall of your prison."
The words which truly sparked the desire to break free in Alicent. Free from the clutches of her father, free to make her own decisions.
We see this particularly during the coronation when:
Alicent is the one on screen, between the swords when the words 'A new king' are spoken.
Alicent stands between Meleys and Aegon. A dragon facing another desiring equal standing. Two queens who never were facing each other.
"It is our fate, I think, to crave always what is given to another. "
Helena's words overlapping with Alicent's meeting with the lords to establish Aegon on the throne. And in the end Alicent and Aemond craving it for themselves.
And finally "There is no power but what people allow you to take."
Mysaria's words left me gaping. It truly embodied the entire scenario of power is temporary being highlighted in the episode.
I believe that we might also compare these words to Aemond's condition as he too is not able to take anything apart from what is handed to him.
(I have not read the books and all my interpretations are based solely on the show.)
Alicent Hightower.
apologist? not necessarily. explainer? perhaps. understander? intimately. enjoyer? greatly. sexualizer? frequently,
helaena and alys talking throught their spiritual connection, helaena telling alys all about her favorite insects, alys telling her the haunting stories of harrenhal, and then they kiss in the astral plane and live happily ever after
i actually appreciate that the show made alys kinda goofy and weird instead of the usual stereotype of the seductive witch, like yes my love, be silly while you torture me i love u
And then there's the fact that I actually choose sides with my 😺
There's no moral compass here, my friends.
“ALL MUST CHOOSE”
me:
helaena - moon
aegon - sun
aegon & helaena - sun & moon
“The grief and rage of losing a child could burn down the world”
I stayed up till 3 am for only one episode of Milf of the Dragon and... I swear I cannot choose green or black, I choose milf.
I swear that my therapist will heard about that okayy I need to see more of them. Olivia Cooke and Emma D'Arcy are fabulous... Do we care about men no we care about women and non binary people.
on god, he may have had zero PREPARATION but he was smart like if they did as he said they would have already won the fucking war like listen to the guy I know he's shit but he's smart your ment to listen to your king not undermind him the only dumb thing he did was replace otto as hand because otto would have agreed with every one of his takes like I need daeron to be trying to push for aegons ideas I really do I need a smart duo
Let's see, Aegon was right about...
1. Considering smallfolk
2. Securing Harrenhal before Daemon builds an army
3. Securing Grover Tully's support after Lucerys' death
4. Burning Gullet's blocade sooner
5. Wanting a dragon to accompany Criston and Gwayne (they could've killed Moondancer and captured Baela)
And STILL many people are saying he was a dumb king! Even with him not recieving any preparation, his ideas would've eliminated the biggest problems that the Greens are facing now.
THIS those kids are so fucking interesting to me like those four where screwed the moment they were all born, aegon was like most likely an infant when people started to think about him being on the throne instead of rhaenyra like their all so tragic helaena being cursed to know that she and her siblings and children will die is just *chefs kiss* aemond losing his eye due to claiming a dragon agted being bullied for not having one, daeron being sent away to live at old Town not really knowing his siblings all that well but willing to die to protect and avenge his family is just *cries* alicent the mother out living all of her children (and I think grandchildren 2) and hating the colour green, the same colour of the dress she wore to be her own person to defend her children and fight for them
like obviously the team black/team green divide is stupid and missing the point of the dance and like obviously the show is written with a rhaenyra bias but likeeeeeee. HOW can you not be endlessly compelled by how irretrievably doomed the team green kids are. how can you not be intrigued and endeared by how narratively fucked these poor stupid teenagers are. pov: you were born to be a weapon in a civil war started by people who don’t care about you. that is the reason for your existence. you are obviously fated to die young and tragic and everybody knows it. you are a team green kid.
purgatory??? More like purGAYtory hahah cmon guys up top
Instead of aegon learning high valyrian to communicate with sunfyre, sunfyre learned english
It's giving modern au where the greens go on vacation after viserys died
Dreamers amongst the awake 🌸
"Everything that is real was imagined first" - The velveteen rabbit . Helaena only met Acklyria Velaryon when she was bethrothed to her elder brother, but through the harshness of war, the women were able to guide each other into a gentle security blanket made with knits of their love.
Whats a sin in times of war? 🥀
"I am a dreamer, neither lost nor found, waiting for a story, worth dreaming forever." - Ventum . A young septa becomes a confidant in Helaena after her wedding, they become closer as moons pass and soon the septa would know Helaena better then she knew herself.
A sweet village🐛🌸
"You can always tell about someone by the way they put their hands on an animal" - Unknown. Helaena deserved the war no more than a healthy butterfly deserved being stepped on. Alicent would not subject her daughter to something so cruel, so she contacted a friend of her fathers and found contacts for a small village that would keep her safe. Helaena knew what was to come for her not long after she'd arrived, but she'd no idea how to interpret it.
A dreamer and a wolf🥀🌸
"Quote to be determined" Au where only Helaena and Jaehaera survive the war in the greens side. They are taken in by Rhaenyra as an act of goodwill. Helaena and her daughter are sent to Winterfell for protection, and while there, she meets and falls in love with Rosemund Stark, Cregans only duaghter.

I think Season 3 should be a comedy set in Essos. Like imagine Aegon healing in the free cities and vibing with Larys and suddenly Alicent, Helaena, and Jaehaera show up. Oh and also Aegon III and Viserys II make it there as well. And all of them are found by Sharako Lohar, with Tyland Lannister being dragged along for the ride.
The thing Alicent (at least in season two because season one Alicent seemed cognizant of that fact), the showrunners and their defenders ignore and what makes her deal with Rhaenyra be nothing but pure is that the Dance of Dragons is a war of annihilation.
Rhaenyra is absolutely not going to forgive Aemond for murdering Luke and Rhaenys. Everyone in Rhaenyra's faction would turn against her if she did so.
Aemond has an army and rides Vhagar, the largest dragon in the world. Even if he is outnumbered, Aemond has no reason to kneel to Rhaenyra since he knows for a fact it is either winning or dying for him.
Rhaenyra cannot bring the peace she desires without getting rid of Aemond and his army. Cole and Gwayne, both who have been nothing but loyal to Alicent, are in that army.
The deal Alicent cut with Rhaenyra in S2E8 does not buy safety for her family. It doesn't guarantee that Aemond, Criston, and Gwayne will surrender, or that any attempt they make to surrender will be honored by the Blacks. It doesn't guarantee that Daeron and the Hightowers will stand aside and watch as Rhaenyra murders their King and crown prince.
Alicent didn't just sell Aegon to Rhaenyra. She sold her sons, her lover, her brother, her father, and her entire extended family.
TB stans: the greens ones feel sorry for Jaehaerys for his cruel death, but they don’t feel sorry for Lucerys, who is exactly the same child!!!
Excuse me, but why is Lucerys a child? Do you need to be reminded that at the age of 15, Robb Stark led an army and went to the South to avenge the death of his father and rescue his sisters from captivity?
Remind you that Arya was exposed to the cruelty of the world at a young age when she was captured at Harrenhal and forced to watch the cruel deeds of Tywin Lannister?
Do you finally need to remember Shireen, whom her own father took on a hike in the dead of winter? She never once complained about her age.
Finally, think of Tommen, who also had to face the fanatics of the High Sparrow at a young age. I’m already silent about Bran and Rickon - they were in exile from a young age and wandered through foreign lands in search of help, and Bran generally went beyond the Wall and lived in the wilderness.
And after that TB stans call Lucerys a CHILD? what kind of child is he if he was sent as an ambassador on a responsible mission to gain the support of a great House for his mother? Would a child be sent on such a dangerous journey for dangerous negotiations? Or are you saying that Rhaenyra is so stupid that she didn't find anyone better than a child to be an ambassador? shut your mouths and be silent. stop comparing the deaths of a truly INNOCENT CHILD and a person who was a FIGURE in the war that started.
