my friend asked if we can watch this show called normal people, and i’d read on a blog once that daisy could be a fan cast for Eddie’s mom and i realised Paul looks like Eddie’s dad too. so get ready for them to be his parents whenever i write for Eddie.
hello yes i know it's been a while. this part has been a pain in my ass for months. i needed to get it just right and rewrote this thing so many times it's not even funny. and now, after editing it five times over the last two days, i'm just posting it. what's done is done. if i came back to it again i would have rewritten and i don't wanna do that. so here it is at least. there is also going to be at least one more part. i'm shooting for two more hopefully but i make no promises. the next part could very well be the last. i hope you enjoy :)

cw: hospitals, dissociation, mentions of overdose, addiction, sobriety, and relapse
Eddie couldn’t move. His body was fighting against every instinct he should have in the moment. Someone could throw something directly at his head, and he wouldn’t react. The buzzing voices around him faded in and out as he stared at a chip in the wood of the table in front of him.
One of Steve’s doctors had finally come to speak with them. They couldn’t say anything for certain at the moment, but he was alive, and that’s all Eddie heard before his head went fuzzy again. His mind was still reeling, caught on the fact that he should have seen this. He should have noticed. He should have been able to help Steve. He failed the only person who’d ever loved him like that, the only one who ever would love Eddie like that. Because Steve was it for him. He’d always known that. No one else would even come close. No one could ever compare to Steve Harrington.
Not only had he failed Steve, but he’d failed Robin too. He was supposed to keep Steve safe. Robin couldn’t lose her best friend; Eddie knew that. He’d promised to take care of him. He couldn’t even do that one thing right. God, what was he going to tell Robin?
They didn’t want Steve to have visitors yet. Eddie managed to gather that much at least. It was still touch and go. He wasn’t awake. They weren’t sure if he ever would be. They’re flushing his system, but it’s really just a game of wait and see. They might be able to see him in the morning, but the doctor wasn’t making any promises. It all depended on how the rest of the night went. If he made it through. They couldn’t say anything else for certain. There had been a lot of drugs in his system. He’d been deprived of oxygen for a long time. There was no way to be sure what would happen next. That was all up to Steve now.
Eddie sat there in that uncomfortable waiting room chair for hours. He didn’t move. He didn’t eat or drink. He didn’t even get up to go to the bathroom. He just sat there, staring at the same chip in the wooden table. His friends all tried their best to get through to him. They tried to coax him into eating or drinking something, but their efforts were unsuccessful. No one could get through to him, and he preferred it that way. He deserved to sit in his own silence, letting his brain run reckless and spiral to the depths of his fears and anxiety. He had failed.
He noticed that the more time seemed to pass, the antsier his bandmates got. Though, he couldn’t be exactly sure that’s what was happening. Time escaped him.
Time was such a funny thing, wasn’t it? It can feel like it speeds up, slows down, or stops entirely, but it never changes. It’s always the same. It’s all in the imagination. Eddie was never that good at telling time as a child. Even as he grew older, he found it difficult to keep track. As he sat in that hospital, his entire life on the brink of falling apart at the seams, time was nowhere to be found. Nothing made sense. He just sat silently, staring. People moved around him, time passed, but Eddie didn’t move. He was trapped. His body was at the hospital, but his mind kept bouncing around. From his mom, to Wayne, to Steve on the bathroom floor. An endless cycle. Eddie was hanging on by a single thread: the only thread of life left in Steve.
Eddie would never survive if Steve didn’t make it out alive.
Eddie was aware that a long time had passed only by the ache in his joints and the dryness of his mouth. He also sort of needed to pee, but that wasn’t important. At least, not important enough to warrant getting up. He couldn't move. He needed to stay right in that spot. Nothing was more important than that.
“Come on, Ed,” Wayne’s gruff voice said from somewhere behind him. Eddie stayed rooted to the spot. “It’s time to go, kid. We’ve gotta get to the reception.”
Eddie stood silently, staring straight ahead at the marble headstone. His mother’s name was engraved with curly letters. Eddie hadn’t known that was possible. There were piles of flowers that he knew wouldn’t be there next week. He didn’t speak. His feet were glued to the soft ground beneath him. His suit was itchy and his worn dress shoes were a size too small. The tie around his neck was suffocating. He couldn’t breathe.
He broke down right there, tears rolling down his cheeks and gasping sobs bursting from his chest. He sank down to the ground at the foot of his mother’s fresh grave, clawing at the stupid red tie that his mother had bought him two years prior and the collar of his white dress shirt. Wayne sighed softly and sat down beside him, gently pulling his hands away and shushing Eddie as he loosened the tie. He let him collapse against his chest, tie almost completely off and the first two buttons of his shirt undone. Wayne held him through each wracking sob and stuttering breath, murmuring comfort until he’d gotten it all out.
“I couldn’t do it, Uncle Wayne,” Eddie whispered hoarsely. “Why couldn’t I do it?”
“Do what, Ed?”
“Save her.”
Why couldn't he do it?
“Eddie, seriously, you need to eat something,” Jeff said, holding out a bag of chips from the vending machine. Eddie stared blankly at the bag, seeing but not really. He heard the words coming from Jeff’s mouth, but his body refused to respond. He couldn’t quite fully process what he was saying. It slipped out of his head before he got the chance, replaced with his mother’s voice, or Steve promising he was fine. He was fine. There was nothing wrong. It was just weed. Nothing more. He was fine.
He lied.
What else had Steve lied about? What else was he keeping from Eddie? Every time Steve came home late, claiming some generic excuse about work or traffic or whatever else it may have been, how often had those been lies? What had he been doing instead? Getting high? Shooting up in a parking garage somewhere? Was he ever with someone else? Someone who wasn’t Eddie?
Steve would never cheat. Eddie had to remind himself of that over and over again. Repeat it on a loop in his head. Anything to get it to stay there.
He would not cheat. He would not cheat. He would not cheat.
But he would lie.
Eddie has never been insecure about their relationship before. He loved Steve more than anything. He always knew Steve felt the same. Steve loved him. No questions asked. Eddie knew. He didn't need to be told that Steve loved him. It was just obvious. Now, though, Eddie was second guessing everything. Why would he lie? If Steve could lie so easily about something like this, what else had he lied about? Had their whole relationship been a lie? Has Steve ever told him the truth about anything?
His brain swirled with more thoughts, more insecurities. He stared at the chip in the table as he spiraled. His fingers and toes were tingling. This couldn’t be real. It had to be a dream, a nightmare. Any minute now, he was going to wake up. Everything would be fine. It was just one big nightmare. He would be laying in bed next to Steve, who would be snoring softly. He would roll over and tuck his arms around his boyfriend’s waist. He could hold him tight, bury his nose in the back of Steve’s neck and breathe in the scent of his shampoo. He could fall back into a peaceful sleep with Steve in his arms, safe and sound.
Except he wasn't waking up. No matter how much he tried, no matter how hard he willed his eyes to open, it didn't happen. He was trapped. There was no escape. Steve wasn't there. He may never be there again. This was all Eddie’s fault. If only he’d noticed. If only he cared enough. None of it was enough. Eddie wasn’t enough. He never should have expected to be enough for Steve. Steve deserved better.
Eddie never should have asked him to come on tour with them.
If Eddie hadn’t asked him to go, this never would have happened. Steve would be at home, in their apartment with Robin, probably sleeping in her room every night. He hated sleeping alone. He’d be sitting on the couch, wrapped up in one of Eddie’s hoodies and the threadbare blue blanket they took from the trailer when they moved, watching movies with Robin and a bowl of popcorn. He wouldn’t be dying in a hospital in New York. He’d be happy and safe. Eddie would miss him like hell, but at least he would be safe.
The sun was shining, blindingly bright, through the tall windows on the far wall of the waiting room when the doctor finally came back. Eddie’s knee had taken to bouncing anxiously a while ago, maybe an hour, maybe more. He can’t be sure. His brain had mostly come back online, but he still felt a little foggy. Untethered. His world was unbalanced. His ears were still ringing even as the doctor started talking. He barely heard a single word. Snippets of information filtered through the fog. Stable. Made it through the night. Up to Steve now. ICU. Visitors. The next thing he knows, Jeff is leading him through the halls with the doctor. It’s just the three of them. Other doctors and nurses bustled around them.
They finally crossed the double doors into the ICU. Eddie’s heart pounded as the doctor led them over to one of the sliding doors. She opened it, and Eddie couldn't move. He could hear the machines inside, see the edge of the hospital bed. If he turned his head a little, he knew he would see Steve. The doctor walked in and picked up the chart at the foot of the bed. She flipped it open and clicked her pen, writing things down and glancing at monitors.
“Eddie, why don't we go inside?” Jeff suggested softly, his hand on Eddie’s arm. “Steve needs you right now.”
Eddie's feet moved of their own accord, taking slow steps into the room. Jeff followed behind him, closing the door once they were both in the room. He carefully led Eddie over to the chair, giving him a light push on the shoulder to sit him down. As soon as he was close enough, Eddie grabbed Steve’s hand. An instinct he would probably always have. It didn't matter what was going on in his brain. If Steve’s hand was there, Eddie was holding it.
“Is he okay?” the doctor asked gently, nodding to Eddie.
Jeff sighed. “I hope so. This is all really hard on him.”
“How long have they been together?”
Jeff looked up, a little startled. It may have been New York, and queer relationships were a little more accepted than they were just a few years ago, but Steve and Eddie had always been careful. Cautious. They all had. But she was quick to respond before Jeff could even think to redirect.
“It’s okay, really. I know what love looks like. I would look at my partner the same way if something like this ever happened to her.”
“Oh.” Jeff glanced at Eddie, who had his eyes glued to Steve’s hand in his. “Um… it’s been almost eight years now. They’ve been through a lot together.”
She closed the chart and put it back at the end of the bed. She nodded a few times, watching the machines that beeped rhythmically. “I’m going to hold on to hope,” she said softly. “For them. For everyone like us. I can’t say anything for certain; this is all up to Steve. We’re doing everything we can. But I’m holding on to hope.”
“I guess that’s all any of us can do now, isn’t it?”
“I think so.” She cleared her throat and took a step back from the bed, turning to Jeff. “I have other patients to round on, but I’ll be back to check up on everything in a couple of hours. If you guys need anything, just let one of the nurses know.”
“Thank you.”
Silence fell through the room as the doctor left. Jeff took the chair in the corner, letting Eddie have whatever time he needed. He was mostly there for Eddie’s sake; someone had to make sure he would be okay until Wayne got there. Truthfully, they were all out of their depths here. No one really understood what was happening in Eddie’s brain. Not even close to the way Wayne would.
They sat there in total silence for a long time. It's unclear to Eddie just how long, but long enough that Jeff had gotten up four times. Once to get food, once for the bathroom, and twice to hit vending machines and coffee. Not that Eddie accepted anything Jeff offered him. His body still felt wildly disconnected from his brain. His limbs were heavy. He also knows it's been long enough that nurses have come in to check on Steve eight times, and his doctor has been back once. It seems the only thing Eddie’s mind can keep track of is how many times someone has entered or exited Steve’s room in the ICU.
Jeff gets up for a fifth time. Another bathroom break, from the few words Eddie managed to retain. The door slid shut behind him, and Eddie was alone again. He squeezed Steve’s hand three times, desperate for any sign that he's still there. That he's fighting for Eddie. Nothing happens. The machines beep. His chest rises and falls rhythmically with the calculated breaths of the ventilator. Steve’s eyes shift beneath his eyelids, but they don't open. They won't open. The door slid open again, and Eddie assumed Jeff was back, though it seemed like he wasn't gone very long. And then he hears it.
“Oh, God.”
Eddie’s head shot up at the sound of Robin’s shaky voice behind him. She looked wrecked. Her face was blotchy, her eyes puffy and red. There were tear tracks down her cheeks. Wayne was standing beside her, looking somber. He watched her take a rattled breath, crossing the room slowly. Her eyes don't leave Steve. Wayne followed a few moments later, coming to stand behind Eddie and put a hand on his shoulder. Eddie wanted to break. As if he hadn't been slowly breaking this whole time.
“They- they said it was an overdose?” Robin asked softly, her voice cracking at the end. Eddie merely nodded, still trying to find his voice. “What- what happened, Eddie? Was it- was he drugged? How- how did this- did he relapse?”
“Relapse?” Eddie croaked, his voice hoarse from disuse. That didn't make any sense. For Steve to relapse, he would have to be…. “He- he was clean?”
Robin frowned, and her gaze finally found Eddie. “What do you mean he was clean? He's been clean since ‘85, Eddie. I- I helped him, after Starcourt.”
All the air left Eddie’s lungs in an instant. This was all his fault. Steve was- he was clean. Sober. And Eddie ruined that. He gave Steve weed. He brought him on tour. He took him to parties full of temptation. He killed Steve.
“This is all my fault,” he whispered.
“Eddie, you have to tell me what's going on,” Robin begged. “When did he relapse? Why didn't he call me? He promised he would talk to me if he wanted to get high again.”
“I- Oh, God. I didn't know. He- he didn't tell me.” Eddie couldn't breathe. His heart squeezed in his chest, and his lungs pushed the air from his body until there was nothing left. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't get it back. He was already hyperventilating. “This is all my fault. Oh my god, it's all my fault.” He was distantly aware of the tears rolling down his cheeks again.
Wayne stepped between Eddie and Robin, crouching down to look up into his nephew's face. His hands were solid against Eddie’s skin, just like they always were. “Ed, you need to talk to me. Take a breath, kid. I'm right here, but you have to tell me what's going on.”
Eddie’s breath stuttered halfway through his chest. “I didn't know, Wayne.”
“What didn't you know, Eddie?”
“I didn't- I didn't know he was sober. I- I thought I- I was just trying to help. I- I gave him weed. I did this.”
Robin’s expression hardened. “You did this to him?”
“I'm so sorry,” Eddie choked out between sobs. “I didn't- I didn't know. I was just trying to help. And- and then he- I knew he wasn't telling me something, but- but he promised it was just weed.”
“Get out.” Robin’s voice was firm, but he could hear the trembling fear behind it.
“What? I-”
“Get out. Get out, right now. You did this, Eddie. He was doing so good until he met you! And now he's dying! So get the hell out, before I make you!"
It was at this moment that the door opened for Jeff’s return. He paused just inside the doorway. Wayne stood up, facing Robin.
“Now, Robin, I think-”
“I don't care!” Robin’s hands were shaking. “This is his fault! I want him out, right now! Or I swear to God, Wayne, I'm going to kill him.”
Wayne glanced back at Jeff, who was the perfect picture of confusion. “Jeff, take Eddie into the hall.”
“What-”
“Don't ask questions right now,” Wayne said sternly with a shake of his head. “Just take him to the hall. I'll be out in a moment.”
As soon as the door shut behind them, and Jeff had led Eddie a little ways from the room, he finally snapped. His knees gave out from underneath him, and Jeff was the only thing holding him up as he sobbed.
This was all his fault. He killed Steve.
First his mom, now the love of his life. It was all his fault.

Hey! I’m very new to the Stranger Things fandom and I have fallen down the rabbit hole of Steve Harrington fan fictions on here and I'm obsessed. I’ve been thinking of ideas when I'm not reading because I'm autistic and so this is my new hyper fixation (Shoutout to the creators on here who write for autistic readers. Y’all are the real MVP’s) I used to write fan fictions but I haven't written in a long time but I have a lot of ideas. IDK if this is an acceptable thing to do on here but I just thought I’d give my ideas and if anyone wanted to take them and run with them I think that'd be super cool. If not maybe one day I’ll get off my ass and actually continue writing. So even if no one wants to take them I’d love some feedback on my ideas or just options on which ones people like the most? Idk I'm also just kind of word vomiting to get this out into the universe so I can stop fixating on them. lol
Anyways here are some of the ideas running through my brain:
-Reader is in nursing school or med school and is the party’s doctor basically when shit goes down. Reader is dating Steve and gets frustrated with him because he's becoming reckless and one day after a bad run in the reader is taking care of Steves injuries but not talking to him but they eventually blow up at him but it ends fluffy?
-Reader is (again lol) in nursing school and has to practice doing exams on patients and asks her boyfriend Steve to help her out. It starts out serious but then Steve gets goofy and then it turns into smut.
-Reader is waiting to hear if they passed a major exam and is nervous so Steve tries to distract them
-(Takes place in season 4. Also sorry this one is going to be long and specific and weird but I can't stop thinking about it.) Reader and Steve are engaged and she's very pregnant. Reader has always been very involved with the party and everything that has lead up to this season. When the vena stuff starts happening Steve tries everything he can to keep the reader in the dark about it because he knows she will want to help. Reader finds out about everything (maybe from Dustin on accident and Steve gets pissed) Anyways reader gets mad at Steve and argues with him about keeping her in the dark and she's yelling about how she is going with them to defeat Vecna and Steve is like “absolutely not” and they go back and forth for awhile. She eventually breaks down and says she can't live without him and something like “We can make another baby but I can't make another you. Don't make me do this alone. I can't lose you” After awhile Steve realizes she's going to help no matter what. While the team is going over how they are going to defeat Vecna the reader starts getting contractions but just thinks its braxton hicks or nerves or whatever so she ignores it but when they are in the Upside Down reader goes like fully into labor. They defeat Vecna (and Eddie lives because him dying just isn't fair) and they try to get the reader out so they can get to the hospital. (they either make it to the hospital or they don't and have to help deliver the baby in Eddies trailer.) (I’m just picturing a hilarious amount of chaos as Steve, Robin, Eddie and Nancy and maybe some of the younger kids try to help bring the baby into the world lol) Again I'm sorry for this one hahah
-Reader is epileptic. Reader and Steve are cuddling on the couch watching a movie and the reader has a seizure. Steve freaks out a little at first but remembers what you told him to do if it ever happened and what he has read about so he makes sure you're safe and tries to comfort you as its happening even though he doesn't know if you can hear him. When reader starts to wake up he makes sure she's okay and just cuddles here and takes care of her for the rest of the night.
-(Another weird specific one. Sorry) Reader is Eddies younger sister. She is dating Steve but lives with Eddie. Eddie had a kid a few years ago and sees him every couple of months because the mother moved away to another state or something but he misses his son all the time and is kind of depressed about it. Reader just had a baby and is really stressed and thinks she's not fit to be a mom. (Steve is super great with the baby but when he's working more so they can get a place together.) Steve is at work one day and the reader is just crying trying to take care of the baby (i pictured a baby girl but ??) Eddie sees how she's struggling and is super sweet and helps her in anyway he can and teaches her some stuff he learned when his son was born. Eddie reassures her that she's a great mom and he realizes helping out with his niece helps his depression a little bit.
-Reader has been dating Steve for a little while and finally decides to open up to him and tell him that they're autistic. They're nervous Steve will think differently of them but Steve is super sweet and asks them what he should know about them (like what gets them overstimulated, certain textures or foods to avoid, etc.) Steve takes note of what you tell him and does his own research too and just tries his best to make you comfortable and be the best boyfriend he can be and its just super sweet.
-TW: Rape and PTSD!!!! Reader was raped a year or so before she started dating Steve. He would try to be physical with the reader but he could sense they were uncomfortable so he never pushed it but eventually asks if he did something wrong or if they don't like him as much anymore or something and so they open up to him about what happened and how they have PTSD and he feels awful and makes sure they know he never wants them to feel pressured with him and he's just happy to be with them and spend time with them. After a few more months the reader wants to try to have sex with Steve because they love him and trust him completely. He takes it super slow with them and checks in with them and makes sure they feel loved during the whole process and its just a really beautiful healing experience because the reader thought they would never be able to have meaningful and loving sex after what happened.
Those are just some of my ideas. If you made it this far thanks for reading! haha
If anyone decides to take an idea and run with it be sure to tag me! I’d love to read it! If not hopefully I will write some of these in the future.
Just some doodles. Let me know if i should do a colored version or anything else you want to see
Got Something of Mine, Harrington?
Billy Hargrove X Reader x Steve Harrington
You decide to take Steve up on his offer to hang out in hopes that you can rekindle the part of you that still believed in love. What happens when your ex decides to show up and claim you're his?
⚠️ Warnings: mentions of blood, swearing, possessive behavior, toxic relationships, insecurity, past trauma, sexual innuendos, and angst ⚠️
(This is a choose your own adventure type layout, so whether you're rooting for Steve or Billy, you'll be able to read what joining their side would ensue)
It was only supposed to be a fun night with Steve. He had asked you to hang at his place once he saw that you had finally broken up with that shitty boyfriend of yours, trying to provide you with comfort and a good time. Steve was handsome, sure. But he had made his move a bit too fast after things had gone south with Billy. His charming smile and light touches had drawn you into all that he had to offer and who could say no to how sweet he had been? Exchanged glances from opposite ends of the room and notes passed back and forth, it was only a matter of time before Steve waltzed into your life and tried to sweep you off your feet. You only wished the circumstances could've been different.
Steve lived in the upper end of Hawkins; the richer and snobbier folks in town who listened to baseball games on the radio and held monthly barbeques. The houses were all lined up in a nice row with a patch of grass in between them with white picket fences and gardens that belonged on the front pages of magazines. Steve's house was further down the cul-de-sac and was the only one that had a lawn so big that a fence would look obnoxious around it. A bright blue house with white shudders and a white door to match, it looked picturesque and almost fake as though it were made out of clay. Apparently, the Harringtons had big hair and even bigger egos.
Knocking on his front door, you nervously tap your shoes against each other as you wait for him to open it and let you in. You took a couple glances around the perimeter of his house, still not fully used to being out on your own. Your dress was slightly provocative, but it was one of your favorites. Your ex had refused you the right to show it off to anyone other than him, one of the many bullets on the long list of his red flags chalked up in your mind. You had never been able to wear it out before, so this would be the first time anyone had seen it. The thought of Steve complimenting you on it filled your stomach with butterflies- dating again was going to be fun.
"Hey! There you are!" Steve opened up the door and smiled. The warm yellow light streamed down from the foyer and onto the front steps you were standing on. Almost immediately, the night felt more inviting and friendly as you basked in it, taking note of how wonderfully it shone onto the pavement below. Only when Steve shifted towards the frame to lean against it did you notice how he looked tonight. He was wearing a nice black button up with dark jeans. His hair had been tossed into a perfect spiral and you could smell the fresh products he'd used to style it. He looked really nice. A happy feeling took root in the pit of your stomach and encouraged you to follow him inside.
"Hey!" You said, throwing the enthusiasm back at him. As he led you towards the kitchen, you noticed just how nice the interior of the Harrington household was. It totally matched the modern exterior as there were abstract looking paintings hanging everywhere and the walls were painted grey. His floors were freshly cleaned too, sparkling tiles that refracted the light throughout the room. The entryway connected to the very yellow kitchen that was decorated with floral paraphernalia. Stepping further you noticed a picture of Steve hanging on the wall from middle school and you suppressed a laugh at how ridiculous it looked.
"Oh no! I forgot to take that down." Steve laughed and covered up the picture with his hands, giving you a dorky apologetic look. You laughed too, finding his impulsive embarrassment to be cute.
"It's okay, I think little Steve would be pleased to know that his hair gets better once he hits highschool." You said, earning another laugh from the boy in front of you. He pushed his hands into his pockets and a wave of expensive and good-smelling cologne filled your senses. If you had any doubts about being out tonight, they were gone now as you realized the awkwardness was mutual.
"May I set your jacket down somewhere?" He asked, reaching for the leather that rested upon your shoulders. You smiled, shrugging the heavier fabric off and allowing for him to grab it.
"Woah." He said, taking in the dress you were wearing.
Instant panic filled your vision as you realized you probably went overboard with the outfit. He was dressed so casually yet so elegant that you forgot that you went straight for something a little more formal than what one would wear drinking a couple of beers and sitting by the edge of a backyard pool. "Oh! Sorry, I know it's a lot I just haven't done this in a while and I got excit-"
"-Its perfect." He said, looking at you from top to bottom and then back to your eyes as the corner of his mouth turned up in a suggestive but polite way.
There was an unusual but comfortable silence for a moment before he cleared his throat and motioned his head towards the back. "The pool is behind the house. If you still wanted to go swimming."
You held out your hand for Steve to take and gave him a quick nod. "Absolutely."
He grinned at you and allowed you to lead him outside the kitchen door towards the inground pool. Night had fallen not too long ago and the stars shimmered down on the water below them, the lights from the inside of it reflected the small waves all over the deck. It was pretty and calming and you couldn't help but run your hand through it a couple of times, testing out the temperature. It was fairly warm considering how the night had started to cool down.
"I'm going to grab a couple beers. Would you like one?" Your date asks, smiling down at what you were preoccupied with. You looked back up at him and noticed how pleased he was with your sudden infatuation with the water grazing your fingertips. His eyes were bright and happy and his posture was awkward but confident and you were unsure how those adjectives could exist at the same time for the same human.
"Yes, please." You said, going back to the water and waving your hand around. Once Steve had left, you decided to take off your dress and shoes since your swimsuit was underneath. You had chosen a red bikini for this particular occasion, grinning at the mischievous idea now that Steve had confirmed your dress wasn't too revealing. You decided to wait with your feet in the pool and allowed yourself to take a deep breath and enjoy the silence of Hawkins. The crickets chirping and the cicadas were the only thing to be heard for miles and it was perfect. You could get used to this.
Except you wouldn't be able to. You tried so hard to let things go and to do what's best for you only for that plan to backfire every time you put your mental health first. It was impossible to let yourself go and enjoy just one night free of anxiety and intrusive thoughts. You knew from the moment you heard the Camaro pull up to the front of the house that everything would be ruined; of course you couldn't have started a relationship with anyone new when Billy still believed you belonged to him.
Jumping up and sprinting towards the door, you run inside to see Steve standing with two beers. "Uh is everything okay?" He asked, staring at you with concern. He seemed shocked to see you run in only for him to become somewhat lost when he looked at what it was you were wearing. "Damn...uh...okay we can go there." He said, not taking the cue from you that your rush to the kitchen was because you wanted to warn him what- or rather who- was coming. Your eyes widened in fear and you looked to the front door which was abruptly opened by the devil himself.
Swinging on its hinges and hitting the wall with a forceful hit, the front door was thrown back so harshly that if there was any confusion about who was visiting so late at night it was gone now. Dark red button up with a similar leather jacket to the one you came in with and black jeans, he looked just as terrifying and handsome as you remembered. A cigarette was placed between his lips and an earring shone from his left ear. He smiled that horrible shit-eating grin as he leaned against the doorframe and took a drag of his cigarette before stomping it out on Steve's pretty floor tiles. "Got something of mine, Harrington?" He asked in his gruff and raspy voice that was all too familiar to you.
You looked at Steve in fear and saw that his eyebrows had furrowed and his jaw clenched. He set down the beers on the island before crossing his arms and looking to you and then to Billy. "What the hell's going on here?" He asked, moving to your side; his stance instantly became defensive.
Billy, however, stood calm as ever as if he didn't just barge into a classmate's house at almost midnight. His hair had been slicked back on the sides into the mullet he usually wore it in and his sunglasses were among the mess of golden curly locks as they sat atop his head. He checked you out and whistled before turning to your date with a disgusted look. "Getting naked for another man, baby?" He asked, taking notice of the suimsuit you had on. Your blood boiled. It wasn't fair for him to do this. Not after how he had treated you by forcing you to go to parties of people you hated just so you could sit on his arm and look pretty. Not after he had denied your attempts at trying to love him via physical affection and only wanting you when he felt like it. Not after you had seen just how horribly he treated the kids Steve loved so dearly.
Standing next to Steve, you felt him pull you behind him as he moved to stand in front of you. He rolled up the sleeves to his shirt and looked Billy dead in the eyes. "Got a problem with that Hargrove?" He asked. The minute the words left his mouth you knew he was dead. Not only that, but he had just paid the bill for his coffin and nailed it shut.
Billy laughed and placed his hands in his jeans. "Yeah, I've got a fucking problem with that."
It was as if a switch had been flipped and Billy's confident and fake friendly demeanor changed as he charged towards Steve, pushing his chest forcefully offering to fight over you. Steve pushed back and spit down at the floor.
"Guys. Stop. Billy, you broke up with me a week ago. Fuck off." You said, now becoming more confident and standing in front of Steve to try and save him from your ex.
"So? That was last week. I say you're mine this week." He smiled and shoved you to the ground, pushing you into the picture of Steve. The glass frame shattered and you tried to brace your fall with your hands. This turned into being the worst course of action possible and you were left with deep open gashes along your arms and hands.
"Look what you fucking did to my girl, Harrington." Billy said, walking over to the island and taking a swig of one of the beers. Steve shoved himself into the intruder, punching his face with all of his might and a crack resounded throughout the echoey hallways of the Harrington residence. Billy recoiled slightly, putting his hands up as a trickle of blood ran down from his now broken nose.
"Looks like you've got some fire in you after all, King Steve." Billy said with another fake smile before throwing Steve to the ground and stomping on his hand. You heard his fingers crunch under Billy's boots and he winced in pain, yelling out a curse word before forcing himself back up, clutching his bruised fingers and staring daggers into Billy's eyes.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Steve angrily shouted and grabbed a decorative plate out of one of the cabinets in the kitchen, holding it ready at his side to chuck at Billy's head if he needed to.
"What's wrong with me is the fact that you're trying to fuck my girlfriend." He said, moving in towards Steve and wiping his blood on the back of his arm. He put on his tough guy persona with a stance that would instantly turn away even the best of fighters.
"I. Am. Not. Your. Girlfriend." You said, standing up. In the time that Steve and Billy had been arguing, you had enough time to evaluate that your wounds weren't horrible. You had a couple cuts on your feet to match the ones on your hands and arms but other than that, you were fine. You would tell Billy off even with detrimental wounds if it meant saving Steve.
"What was that?" Billy asked, putting a hand behind his ear and pretending as though he couldn't hear what it was you were trying to tell him. So, you told him again.
"I said that I'm not your fucking girlfriend."
Nodding and pursing his lips, he grabs Steve by the collar and throws a punch to his stomach which sends him hurtling to the floor. He grabbed at his abdomen in pain before picking up the plate and chucking it at your ex. It hit him square in the head and you saw a gash starting to form above his eye. Blood dripped down from said gash, travelling down his temple and working its way towards his neck.
"Whoo!" He said, feeling the rush of adrenaline that came with fighting for you. When he had broken up with you -although he would never admit it- it was because he felt as though he wasn't good enough for you. Every word his father had told him had started to take root in his mind and swayed his decisions over whom he felt he was worthy of. But oh, he loved you so much. He wanted the best for you but he never knew how to express it. He wanted more nights like the one where he first opened up to you while the two of you were in his bed, staring up at the posters on the ceiling. He wanted to hold your hands again and remind you of all the reasons he saw you to be the most beautiful human being. It wasn't fair that you had to put up with him, he knew. But there was no way on earth he would ever let you end up with a guy like Harrington.
"Billy, Stop!" You yelled, trying to grab onto his arm only to be shoved out of the way once more. Steve had gotten another plate and threw it, this time missing Billy and sending it hurtling towards the wall behind the two of you. The ceramic shattered and joined the mess of the picture frame.
"I'll stop if you agree to come with me." Billy said, holding Steve by the shirt again with his head facing towards you. He couldn't lose you again. Not this time. Even with all of the thoughts that had driven him away from continuing to be with you, he knew that you were his only solace. And he knew he needed that back more than anything else.
...
(At this point in the story, there are two alternate endings, one where you side with Steve and one where you side with Billy.)
...
Choice one: Billy
You glanced towards Steve with the best apologetic look you could muster. It wasn't his fault that he had ended up in this situation and he had tried his best to defend you. It wasn't fair to him for this fight to continue so you did the best thing you could do to avoid the situation from getting more out of hand. Even if it meant Steve would hate you.
"Okay." You said, agreeing to your now boyfriend again.
"That's what I like to hear." He said, removing his hands from Steve and sauntering towards you, harshly grabbed your arms so he could see how badly you were hurt. He did a once-over before he took off his shirt and wrapped it around the arm that was bleeding heavier than the other one. Then, without a word he snaked his arm around your waist and led you out the front door towards his car that was parked haphazardly out front.
You turned your head slightly to see if Steve would follow you but he didn't. Part of you was thankful that he didn't since it would only lead to another unnecessary fight. The other part of you wished he would.
"Don't look back at him." Billy said, tone firm but less harsh as before. "You're mine."
Everything felt like it was crumbling around you. The night you spent with Steve and the relationship you were thrown back into was enough to get your heart racing even faster than before. You could feel some sort of anxiety attack take over every other emotion of yours as you tried your best to push it down and not to show Billy. His shirt was still wrapped around your cut and you could feel some of the blood start to soak through the fabric, trying to keep your mind on the sensation and not the events of tonight.
Getting into the car, you take your usual place in the passenger seat, eyes downwards. You let everything play through your head over and over until it was just too much and you could feel tears threatening to spill out over your cheeks.
"Hey." You heard your boyfriend say, placing his hand on your thigh when he saw that you were crying. His entire demeanor changed once again and it was starting to play tricks on your mind as you didn't know what side of him was real and what was for show. He was always like this.
"Hm?" Was all you were able to respond with, shoulders slumped.
"I love you. You know that, right? I wouldn't let you end up with some shitty playboy like him." He said, running his hand alongside your face and collecting your tears as he went. He was being so gentle now, you wondered if you had made up the entirety of your date.
"He-He's not like that."
Revving his engine, Billy puts one hand on the wheel and places the other around the back of your seat.
"Sure." Is all he says as he pulls out of the driveway and down the road to his house where he knows he'll be able to watch you. Just as you were about to turn the corner to leave the cul-de-sac, you caught a glimpse of Steve Harrington- former King of Hawkins High -standing outside on his front doorstep with a beer in one hand and an ice pack in the other.
Oh how you wished you could've stayed with him.
...
Choice Two: Steve
"In your fucking dreams, Hargrove." You said confidently, grabbing a knife off the counter and pointing it towards him in a threatening manner. "I'll slit your throat if you touch him again."
Billy grinned and let Steve fall to the floor as the boy clutched his stomach in pain. Walking towards you, he smiled with an antagonizing gaze. "Oh yeah? Is that a promise, girly?"
"Call me that one more time and I'll run you over in that shitty Camaro of yours." Not knowing where this spunk was hidden within you all this time, you held up the blade to your ex boyfriend in a menacing way, looking towards Steve who was still wounded on the floor.
"Damn!" Billy said, leaning against the wall and watching your date on the ground taking his deep breaths to alleviate some of the pain. "You're feisty today."
"You fucking ruined my date. What did you expect? A kiss on the lips and full compliance?"
He glared down at you with such intensity you thought he was going to kill you. You'd only ever seen that look once and that was when he had the fight with his dad in front of you. That day you had seen what Billy truly lived through and that memory alone was what allowed you to keep persevering through your relationship, convincing yourself that anything he did to wrong you was because he didn't know any better. Because he had gone through so much pain. Crawling over to Steve, you lift him up off the ground ever so slightly as you pull him into your lap to assess the damage. He wasn’t in horrible shape, but he definitely couldn’t take another hit to the abdomen and still feel well enough to attend classes the next day.
“(Y/N). Move away from him please. You’re only making things more difficult.” Billy said, leaning down to your level and staring you directly in the eyes. Things were different this time. His usual puppy dog gaze wasn’t enough to get you to fold and bend under his will, giving into whatever he so desired. The times when you would hold his face in between your hands and whisper sweet nothings into his ear even after he had treated you with a disrespect you didn’t think to be possible. The last time you would ever see this side of him again would be tonight.
In a firm but stern voice you glare at him with the same unshakable intensity.
“No.”
And with that, Billy nodded and placed his hands in his jean pockets, getting up and straightening himself out. He looked sad in a way, seeing you on the floor with Harrington whom he’d hated so much until this moment. Billy didn’t lose easily, but he trusted you. If you decided this guy was enough to satisfy you in the ways he never could, he would finally leave you be.
“I loved you, (Y/N).”
You felt frozen in time, not able to say anything else to the man before you. He was just a stranger who held a lot of memories, someone whom you would always share stories with but someone whom you would forget as the days dragged on. You wanted so badly to reach out for his arm and to urge him to stay, to allow him to come waltzing back into your life. But you knew you deserved better. You knew he deserved better.
“Thank you.” You said, as you heard Steve’s door slam shut for the last time that night. Then, you attended to Steve’s wounds as you wondered what would’ve happened had you rekindled the relationship you had with Billy.
And you knew deep down that you made the right choice.
Ever So Slightly.
Steve Harrington X Reader
⚠️ Warnings: this one is very PG-13 with a bit of angst ⚠️
Harrington fondly thinks back to his car... And your lips.
His BMW 733i was parked outside of Hawkins Highschool, the soft screeching of tires as he put his foot on the brake and eased it into a parking space. There wasn't a soul for miles, the only brightness coming from the singular streetlight in the middle of the lot, shining down on the two students who had made their way to the familiar building after hours. Both windows rolled up halfway and feet placed on the dash. The night was calm and quiet with the exception of cicadas chirping their songs and filling the void with something other than the nothingness of the quiet town. Stars shone overhead and created patterns of light across the sky, however, not enough for illumination of any sort. Just darkness for miles.
He looked so lovely. His eyes glanced up and down over your frame but not in a way other than pure and utter admiration. He felt just as calm as the world around him, not feeling a care in the world at what everyone else had gotten up to tonight. The party at Tommy Hagan's house that he had been expected to show up at. The Dungeons and Dragons campaign at the Wheeler's. The movie showing at the theatre in town. None of it mattered. The only thing that he could care about in this moment was your soft touch on his arm or the delicate breaths you took as you explored every inch of his mouth further. Your hands gliding up his face and fingers intertwining in his hair. The content state of your heartbeat pulsating calmly and the way your shirt felt under the palms of Steve's hands. Everything about you was so perfect, so- meticulous- that Steve assumed the universe placed you in Hawkins for the sole purpose of being his.
Cherry chapstick colliding with the taste of Steve's last cigarette, you had to say you felt the same. His manly but beautiful frame beneath you digging deeper into the seat with every kiss placed with intention and passion. Your hands running over the top of his jeans and hooking into the belt loops. He was your solace, your brain suddenly blank from all the intrusive and desolate thoughts from earlier. His lips guiding you to the freedom from pain and offering you a home to wander into; a blanket and a a cup of warm tea at the entryway of peace.
His hair felt so soft under the callouses of your fingers and the strands ran through like silk, slipping away from your grasp only for you to collide with them again. A slight pull of his hair left Steve in a state of frustration as he wanted to melt further into you and not to be pulled away. This longing wasn't a sexual one but more of a sensual one; wanting to envelop himself within you as close as humanly possible, wanting to flow through your veins and seep through your chest until the two of you were one. Pulling you back in, his cheeks are flushed and soft noise of fondness escapes your lips as you allowed him to know how he was making you feel.
"Hey," you said, breaking the quiet. It seemed forbidden to speak with how serene everything was even though your voice was just barely above a whisper. Steve looked down at you in confusion with furrowed brows, wondering what you were going to say. "We should put on some music or something."
Steve smiled. Of course you wanted music. It was your favorite thing in the entire world and he was pretty sure that he was a close second. Reaching around your frame to turn on the stereo, he shifts through the channels until he finds something suitable. A dark and low synth song starts to play through his speakers, perfecting the aesthetic of the night.
"This okay?" He asks, turning back to you and seeing your eyes light up.
"Absolutely."
.
Walking through the hallway on the last day of school was tiresome. Seeing all of the places that held memories that were good and bad filled your vision and your mind as you truly realized this was the last time you would be here. The green and orange tiles and the posters with tigers on them seemed to mock you as you continued your path towards the rows and rows of lockers for clean-out day.
Your shoes scuffed against the floor as you lost yourself in thought. Nothing would ever be the same again. Sure, it was a new chapter in your life but part of you would miss this old one. Riding around the block with your friends and singing your favorite songs. Staying up late drinking and coming into school high the next day. Sharing pencils with the weird kids in class who insisted they draw all over your notebook which you didn't mind. You felt like a collection of different thoughts and times just like the drawings that filled those pages.
Turning the corner you thought back to everyone you've met. The good and the bad and the in-between which was reserved for one person in particular- Steve Harrington himself. Leaning against one of the lockers wearing a dark yellow sweater and blue jeans looking as ethereal as ever. His hair had grown quite a bit from the last time you'd seen him and it made you laugh at the memory of how much Farrah Faucet hairspray he would put in it. Now, it was unkempt and a bit ridiculous.
His gaze went to yours and he faltered ever so slightly. You were still beautiful. Still you. Headphones dangling around your neck and a baggy shirt. Your lips were still stained with that cherry chapstick he'd tasted so many times before Nancy's strawberry one. You seemed quite surprised to see him after so long and you offered up a slight smile. He didn't know what you were thinking in that moment, but he was sure it was the night you two spent in the car, hiding away from the rest of the world.
He remembered when it was the two of you against the world before the mess of the Upside Down. Before the world became more than basketball games and parties. Before the world went crazy. Before he fell in love with someone else.
He felt a slight pang in his chest from how much he had loved you long ago. And to his surprise he smiled back at you. Ever so slightly.
How would we feel about an angsty fight between Billy Hargrove and Steve Harrington over the reader? Except it's a choose your own adventure so y'all would get to pick a side and the story would change based on who you ended up with?
Or would we prefer more fluffy fics? I can't help but write Billy and Steve into the most heartfelt sweet things because they are the bees knees.
It's late and I drank an entire thing of butterbeer so I might just be going crazy with the Steve and Billy thoughts rn, but I just want your input!
Also, thank you guys for the love on the Stranger Things fics, the amount of support I've received from them is astronomical. 🥹 I love you.
Thank you!

Let Me In
Steve Harrington X Eddie Munson
Eddie wants so badly to tell Steve the pressing matters on his mind. So much so that he's willing to bike all the way in the rain to show him just how he feels.
⚠️ Warnings: Slight Angst, mentions of scars, kinda sexual wording?⚠️
The rain poured and poured nonstop outside of the Family Video Store. It was dark and dreary, but when it was matched with the most spontaneous bike ride and a Walkman that played Iron Maiden, it was just perfect. The puddles splashed around as the new droplets of water joined the ground, making short tapping noises almost as if the sky was speaking in Morose Code. The night was just starting to fall which meant that the sky was a dark and hazy blue-grey, a calming and pretty sight to passersby. The stars were just starting to peek out as they twinkled onto the dark pavement below. The only thing that lit up the lot was the Family Video Store fluorescent lighting which shone on the cracks and pebbles of the pavement Eddie rode on, bike wheels slightly scuffing up the earth. His curly brown hair was now down to his shoulders since it was wet beyond belief and his clothes were equally soaked. His Hellfire Club shirt stuck to his midsection and his black ripped jeans became ten times heavier with the weight of the water holding him down. Still, he pushed through as he caught a glimpse of the writing on his shoes, urging him to go on. In the whitest parts of the soles Steve had written him little phrases. The little doodles of stars and smiley faces added to the butterflies starting to form in the pit of Eddie's chest as he knew what he was about to do.
The bike made a scraping noise as he came to an immediate halt the moment he made it to the front doors. He couldn't wait until he could exchange it for a motorbike of sorts, once he graduated highschool once and for all that is. Until then, the red chipped paint and the handlebars that locked up with every given chance would have to suffice. Throwing the transportation device onto the sidewalk, Eddie gave himself a slight pep talk before he went into the store. The movie posters that had been printed on the windows added to the feeling of excitement when he noticed one of them was The Evil Dead. Fiddling with the rings on one of his hands, he shook his wrist as the anxiety of the situation finally hit him. Still raining, he knew his slight eyeliner must've run down his face and would most likely cause a scene once he was inside the familiar store. Hopefully, since it was just closing, Eddie would be able to get in undetected via lack of customers.
Pushing open the doors, a bell resounds throughout the entirety of the small building, signifying the presence of someone entering. The carpet looked the same as he remembered, dirty and printed with that horrid triangular design exclusive to the 80's. However, even though the front desk stayed the same, the rest of the displays had been moved around expertly to accommodate all of the vhs tapes that littered the shelves. Eddie pushed on further inside, starting to regret his decision until his eyes made direct contact with Steve "The Hair" Harrington, wearing the most ridiculous green vest.
It felt as though time itself had stopped as if Eddie and Steve were the only beings in the world. Steve's hair was everywhere which told the metalhead that he had been stressed and ripping at his hair again. His light blue polo underneath the horrendous work attire brought out the phenomenal golden color of his skin and his dark brown eyes looked Eddie up and down. From the tips of his toes to the hair on his head, Steve took everything in and drank it into his memory, keeping it there as if he needed to remember every minute detail about Eddie and his physicality. The leather jacket under his patched up denim and his ridiculous perm that seemed to be exclusive to the music nerds of Hawkins High. The bats that were hidden under Eddie's clothing called out to Steve in an odd way, as if his fingers burned from the possibility of being able to graze over that portion of Eddie's skin.
Eddie offered up a slight smile to which the other boy returned, a grin that had melted the hearts of many and offered a sort of solace for the kids Eddie played D&D with. Steve was very handsome, he thought. It made him want to melt into the floor everytime he got to see the smile that showed off his brilliant teeth.
"Ahoy!- er- shit that was my last job, sorry." Steve chuckled and pushed the hair that was falling into his eyes away from his face, tucking a strand of it behind his ear as he leant on the red desk from behind. The telephone on the right of his arm was just as red as the counter and presumably Eddie's cheeks by this point. Thinking about Harrington was one thing, seeing him in the flesh was another.
"Ah it's okay, I didn't come to rent a movie." Eddie put one of his feet in front of the other, gently tapping the sole to the tip of the shoe in an anxious manner. He tried to look at anything but the beautiful boy in front of him, finding it excruciatingly hard for him to think about anything else. The ceiling tiles, the movies, the floor, the telephone, everything was so disinteresting compared to the radiance of Steve Harrington. Eddie was torn from his thoughts the moment he saw the pen lettering on his shoe.
'Never change, Munson.'
Steve had written that with a borrowed pen from Robin at one of Eddie's Corroded Coffin shows. He had played a total of two songs and there were about ten people who showed, but Steve was one of them. Eddie wouldn't have had it any other way; watching the popular boy glance at him over his guitar, tongue slightly escaping his lips as he glanced at Eddie's hands which were put to work on the strings, playing the familiar Metallica tune.
"What can I do for you then, Eddie? ...Did you bike here?" Steve asked, voice laced with slight concern. It never failed to make Eddie's insides twist and turn into something one could only describe as pure and utter admiration for another human being.
"I-I-" He began, but got lost in the words. How would he come clean about his feelings? How would he possibly be able to put into words the exact way he felt whenever Steve drove him to school or when he would smile at him from afar? How would he be able to get Steve to comprehend how he felt when he came to one of his shows? How would Eddie put into words how badly he wanted to touch Steve beyond the friendly handshakes and fist bumps?
"I think I might have a sweater lying around somewhere in the back if you want some dry clothes." Steve started to flip up the corner of the desk so he could walk out to the break room. He was wearing those stupid khakis that were so exclusive to the father community of Hawkins that Eddie would've had to suppress a laugh if he wasn't so invigorated with the current task at hand. Moving towards him, he threw all caution to the wind as he grabbed the other boy's hand, stopping him from moving any further and replacing the comfortable expression on his face with one of confusion. Steve's brows were furrowed but his hands and face were hot unbeknownst to the metalhead. This was the closest they had been in proximity by themselves, without the familiar screaming of the kids or the incessant nagging from Robin and Nancy. Just pure and utter silence and two boys looking for the right words to say.
"Steve."
"Eddie."
Eddie shifted in his spot, moving his jacket up with his shoulders and uncomfortably being awkward. Suddenly the store seemed hot and suffocating, the walls closing in on the two of them in his mind. Yet even with this sense of claustrophobia, he wanted to get even closer to Steve and to feel his hot breath exhaling against his skin and to feel the heat of him flush against his chest. To play with the hair that was always freshly sprayed with Farrah Faucet and the trace over the imperfections on his skin. Every scar, freckle, and mole on his body yearned to be touched by Steve's lips and the thought alone made him shudder in excitement. He knew he had to say this now before he was never able to again.
"I think-"
"Think what?" Steve harmlessly glanced at his face once more, trying to pick out what it was he was feeling.
"I think I feel more towards you than just a friend." Eddie finally let the words roll off his tongue and into the open air, surrounding the two of them as though they were music notes, echoing inside his mind and bouncing off the body of the boy in front of him. For a moment, Eddie felt relieved but quickly composed himself as he awaited a response.
Steve felt very very weird. He had never felt this type of way in his life, being at an indecision of what to do. He didn't know whether to freak out and shun away the thoughts he knew he had about Eddie months prior to his confession, or to accept it and let the boy know he felt the same. This would change everything and yet, it would change nothing. Eddie was so gorgeous. His hair was still dripping onto the floor that Steve was supposed to clean up after his shift, which ended twenty minutes ago. The chains and patches loosely placed onto his jeans and jacket made Steve's insides go wild at the thought of tracing over them with his hands, cautiously wondering what they would feel like under his tongue. But- despite all this- he remained expressionless, glued to his spot and not saying anything.
Eddie felt his heart break. He felt every inch of his chest erupt into fire, killing the butterflies that stemmed from his admiration and longing and anxiousness. It was all too much for him to handle. The worst part was knowing that he would have to go on as though nothing ever happened between him and the King of Hawkins High. As if every aching of his heart wasn't pointed in the direction of the one person on earth he'd wanted to be his lover since day one.
Turning around, he walked out of Family Video. The sky was now fully dark and the rain still beat against the windows, his bike now fully wet with the water that sloshed down from the gutters on the roof and the water that filled the puddles in the pavement. His heart felt similar to that in a way- just an open cavity slowly drowning from the inside out.
"Eddie!" Steve shouted from the door, but Eddie didn't want to hear it. He mounted his bike with tears in his eyes, mixing with the rain that fell from the clouds overhead. He paid no mind to Steve, who was now in the rain with him. It wasn't until he started to ride off that Steve knew he couldn't let him go. He couldn't just allow him to think that he didn't feel the same longing as he did. As if he didn't think about loving him in every extremity. Running faster, Steve managed to stand in Eddie's direction with his arms held out in an attempt to stop him from going any further. The tears threatening to spill from eyes became too much as Steve allowed them to fall, an emotion he didn't portray often.
"Eddie. I think about you that way too!"
The metalhead hopped off the bike. Standing just a few feet apart from the boy he'd grown to love, he felt the water escaping his lungs as the universe allowed him to breathe again. It was as if someone had conducted a surgery on his heart and fixed him and all the spontaneity he held within him before. All because Steve said the three words that he'd thought walking into the video store tonight.
"I love you."
And there it was. Rain still pouring relentlessly and both boys with cheeks so red you'd think they'd gotten a sunburn in the middle of autumn, there it was. The raw and beautiful emotion of two lovers who had been torn apart by society but still found a way back to one another. A couple of hesitant footsteps in front of them and the soft sobs that could be heard from Steve pushed the couple closer and closer until eventually the thoughts of tasting one another became actions. The thoughts of love and emotion became words and the intensity of their attraction became feverish as they allowed themselves to consume each other in their grasp under the harsh rain.
"I wish you hadn't waited so long to tell me that, Harrington. Otherwise, I would've been right here this whole time." Eddie said, wiping a stray tear away from his face once they broke away. A slight chuckle left him as he took in Steve's flustered but beautiful state. His hair was flatter than a pancake against his head and it made Eddie love him even more knowing that he willingly followed him out in the rain even at the expense of his hair.
"May I kiss you again?" Steve asked ever so softly, finally allowing him to voice the emotions he'd been feeling for so long.
"Of course." Eddie said, smiling and leaning in for another one.
The sky crackled above with a beautiful blue and purple lightning, shining down over the lovers who felt just as electric as the weather.
Glimpse of Us
Steve Harrington X Eddie Munson
⚠️ Warnings: this whole thing is just painful ⚠️
"You fill my lungs with sweetness, and you fill my head with you..."
The unfamiliar song started to play softly through the speakers of Steve Harrington's car, leaving him with a feeling of dread and sorrow. It was a foggy afternoon and the trees surrounding the town of Hawkins were tall and provided shade from the very little sun that poked through the clouds. It was darker than usual, a reflection of how Steve felt inside. The soft smell of petrichor filled his senses as he rolled the window down in an attempt to catch the air as he drove by. He was by himself today. No Henderson from the backseat to shout and cheer at the latest adventure they had. No Robin in the passenger side fixing her mascara and droning on about her love of Vickie. No one but the crisp cool air and soft rain starting to fall from the sky, so soft one might miss it if they weren't actively feeling rainy inside. Steve tousled his hair and wiped at his face as he continued down the path to the familiar clearing in the woods; somewhere he would be completely isolated and alone.
Pulling up alongside the road, he put his car in park and slumped against the wheel. His head hurt from the night before as he had stayed up later than normal, drinking an endless amount of coffee to get him through work and then through home. His cardigan felt heavier than usual as he wrapped it around himself quickly, trying to trap in any warmth before turning off the car and walking outside.
The King of Hawkins High now had a slight limp in his walk ever since the battle for his home. His hair was starting to lighten up at the roots and he had lost a couple pounds. Chiseled jawline and sad eyes completed the forlorn look he now wore with contemptness. Vecna was a thing of the past, but the pain the monster left him was far greater than anything that could truly heal over time. Today was full of nostalgia for him so he decided to release his emotions in the only way he knew how to; talking to Eddie.
The trees eventually opened up into the bright and beautiful field he had known all too well; the grassy meadow was a bright yellow in contrast to the darkness of the rest of the world which Steve figured was his friend's doing. Such a happy corner of the universe but such a sad day it held within its corners. 1986.
Eddie looked lovely today. The birds were flying overhead in intricate but beautiful patterns in the sky, keeping a watchful eye on everything happening down below. They paid no mind to Steve as he frequented this place often. Besides from Dustin, he was the only other human to walk this place with the knowledge of what it truly meant. Visions of Eddie running around with Dustin himself, bright eyed and beaming grins as they pranced about the meadow with their makeshift swords and shields. Robin and Steve had sat alongside the outside as they shaped spears using what they had gathered. Erica and Lucas fighting over the binoculars as they playfully expressed that they cared for each other. The last time when things were truly perfect, Steve thought to himself as he sunk to his knees by the site where Eddie rested now.
"Eddie Munson. The Hero of Hawkins."
The inscription was clear even though the rest of the grave had been worn away after quite some time. It was small so it would've been glanced over if you weren't on the lookout for the home of the Hellfire Club leader. There were a few sprouts of miscellaneous plants growing out from some of the sides and around the lot. The dead rose from the last time Steve came to visit laid atop, waiting to be replaced with another flower. He fished into his cardigan and pulled out another rose similar to the other one, although this one was very much alive. The petals were vibrant and dewey, matching the surroundings of the meadow and the sky overhead.
"Hey Eddie." Steve said, getting comfortable on the ground and fiddling with the grass. "It's been a while."
"Nancy and I will have to visit with the kids someday soon." He began, working towards trying to have the confidence speaking out in the open like this. A faint smile appeared on his face as he said his next lines.
"The meadow looks beautiful as ever, Eddie. I can see all the work you've put into it. Your aura was always a contagious one."
Steve swallowed back a tear as he ran his fingers over the inscription he had paid for himself. Eddie would always be known as the hero, even if it was only to a few people who resided in Indiana. Funny how your world can be comprised of a few science kids and a couple college friends. Or how it used to be, anyways. Before everyone grew up.
"We named our oldest after you. Ironically, he's very into Metallica. You would be so proud of your namesake." Steve said, feeling proud for a moment at the mention of his son. Him and Nancy had gotten married in the summer of '99. She had worn a plain and simple wedding dress but she looked beautiful as ever in it, hair pinned to the top of her head and a pearl necklace around her neck. Her smile had beamed so brightly that day and Steve felt like the luckiest man in the world.
"Robin apparently still visits Hawkins from time to time. She moved to Washington not long after everything went down in Hawkins. She said she couldn't take it anymore. We had a party for her and then she left the next day. I haven't heard from her since." The mention of his best friend made him crinkle his nose in fondness, remembering the night they spent drugged in the bathroom of the Starcourt Mall and her coming out to him as a lesbian.
"I know Henderson comes to see you with his family sometimes. He's almost always over at our place. He keeps me updated on everything happening in his household. Turns out, he's a great babysitter too. He tells Eddie all about you and about how great you were."
"Lucas became a professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers. He's quite good, it turns out that he's found his people and his talent. He and Max still have some unfinished business, but as far as I know she lives alone after her mother passed not too long ago. She's doing better now since she woke up from that coma, volunteering at the local hospital. She went back to college to get a degree in nursing."
Steve tried his best to explain everything he knew. Eddie was the glue that seemed to hold their group together. After his passing, everyone went their separate ways and Steve felt very isolated. He missed his kids and the way it used to be sometimes, especially on days like today. But the same part of him that yearned for their reunion was the same part of him that was ever so pleased they all ended up okay. He couldn't be anything but proud of them after they all worked so hard to get where they were.
"The Byers still live in Lenora. Hopper went with them and he got married to Joyce. Jonathan went off with Argyle and started their own clothing line. It's pretty ridiculous, but I've heard that they're making a ton of money from it. Eleven is still with Mike. They visit us sometimes too when they can. They're still distraught over Joyce and her death not long after they had gotten married themselves. Nance and I went up to see them and it was almost as if the whole gang was back together. You would've loved it!"
Steve was laughing now as he explained their wedding even further. It was a shame that Joyce had contracted an illness but she didn't go down without a fight. Hopper visits her grave all the time when he's not too busy working for the post office. He still takes care of Eleven and adopted her the moment he was able to.
"Will is working as a librarian and he got married but that's about all I know. He's the one kiddo that hardly keeps in contact anymore. I heard he's a published author, but I don't know the titles of any of his works."
Steve stopped his rambling and stared down at the plants poking out from the grave. It was refreshing to see some new flowers popping up here and there, a contrast from the yellowing of the meadow grass. It was now starting to rain harder and he could feel the water droplets hitting his head, almost like the ticking of a clock telling him that his time with Eddie was almost up. He composed himself from his slight moment of fondness and looked down at the shining stone beneath his feet.
"Eddie." He said, moving towards the top of the gravestone and petting it in the same way he used to pet his long curly brown hair that was always mischievously framing his face and flying about. Eddie would smoke cigarettes while Steve played with it as he laid on top of his friend and played some of his Corroded Coffin guitar solos. His smile would light up Steve's entire room as the eccentric metalhead boy would sit on the end of the bed and laugh with him about their music tastes and the typical drama of the day. Eddie's Hellfire notebook would be sprawled out on the floor as he placed back and forth while he talked about what was to be expected from their next campaign while Steve listened intently. He would tilt his head if Steve had any ideas to offer and would jump up and down if something he had said would be added to the exciting fun of DND. Munson would run around in Steve's bomber jacket when it was cold. He would hold his hands when he wanted him to know something important so that he would have Steve's undivided attention. Eddie would prance around the field with Black Sabbath blasting through his Walkman. He would yell up at the night sky and ask for the universe to lift the curse that held him to Hawkins.
"I never stopped loving you." Steve admitted. Before he headed back towards the warmth of his car, he took off his cardigan and placed it atop Eddie's final resting place and smiled. "So you don't get cold, is all." He said.
Steve didn't believe in God or any particular religion, but he knew that somewhere somehow, Eddie heard every word.
I'm sorry to all of you who are here for other fanfictions, it might take a while since I'm on a bit of a Stranger Things kick!
Seriously though, I am a writing machine this week. I need to read more of Dune before I start on part four of that, but people have been asking and they shall receive.
I love you all and I hope you're having a wonderful day/night wherever you are. Send me asks if there's any ideas you come up with or if you just want to say hi!!

He's loved you since the beginning. It's a shame you had to be taken from him so quickly.
⚠️ Warnings: angst!!!! Blood, death ⚠️
Steve held the firecrackers to his chest as he waited for the perfect time to throw it at the demon threatening the lives of his favorite people in Hawkins. The Mind Flayer- also known as the mysterious rat creature- had tormented everyone it came across. Now, as it finally stood inside the Starcourt Mall, it awaited its death in a valiant effort to fight back. Steve counted in his head the seconds before he would have to throw the fiery device at the creature created from the depths of the Upside Down.
"One, Two, Three, Four-" Steve heard Robin count before she threw her firecracker from the balcony. Her short hair flew with the thrust of her arm, hitting the back of the demon and watching a portion of its arm erupting into flames. She looked determined with a fierce glare that she directed at the Mind Flayer; eyes squinted and face contorted into one of complete and utter concentration. Steve had never seen her so focused.
And then, there was you. Watching the creature from the bottom of where you stood, feeling the agonizing burns of the firecrackers yourself. Connected to the monster, it was impossible for the group to make sure you stayed safe while they went for the kill. Your skin was ashen grey and the veins on your body shone black with the poison of the universe which ran parallel to Hawkins. You looked like a shell of the person Steve once knew you to be; the bright and happy (Y/N) that he loved so much and found so much in common with. The (Y/N) who went to all his basketball games and laughed with him in his car while The Police were softly playing from the speakers. The (Y/N) that always knew what to say to cheer him up after a bad day. The (Y/N) that he had asked out on that particularly cold winter day when he realized that seeing you wearing his scarf was a sight he didn't want to lose. You were still that person, of course, but now you were tainted with the horrible curse of the town Steve sought to run away from since the beginning of all this madness. You were still beautiful even though you weren't entirely yourself. And you were still his. Something he considered worth fighting for.
He counted down from ten before releasing the same firecracker into the direction of the monster which took you. He saw your eyes burn and your hands flail around until they reached your face, pulling at your eyes and dragging your fingers across your skin showing the pain you felt on the inside. The veins seemed to sear across your skin like black tendrils; vines opening up and crawling on every inch of your body. He felt a pang in his chest watching you being forced to suffer like this. He wanted nothing more than to have the old you back in his arms playing with your hair after the two of you woke up from another night spent at Steve's. It seemed like a millennia ago.
You screamed in pain and dropped to the ground just as the monster shifted in place, shrinking up against one of the walls towards the kids on the other side of the balcony: Lucas and Max trying their best to ward off the Mind Flayer.
Steve's maternal instincts kicked in and he ran towards the kids, much to Robin's avail. Her arm flung out in an attempt to grab her co-worker and friend as he raced towards the two fifteen-year-olds with their walkies in hand, firecrackers in the other.
"Steve!" Robin yelled, running after him as he tackled the kids into a protective hug just as the monster swung out and crashed its arm into the place they once stood. He held them close and squinted his eyes to try and block out the surroundings. This was all too much too fast. Robin joined him on the other side, holding Lucas close to her as she wrapped her arms around him protectively. He had a single tear threatening to spill down his cheeks and Max looked equally horrified.
You screaming once more brought Steve's attention back to what was happening below. Eleven had joined you in the fight with her arm outstretched in the air as she tried to push you back towards the monster and away from her friends. You floated just a few inches above the linoleum tiles, still in pain from your previous feat. Eleven looked deadly as she threw you to the ground.
"Stop!" Steve yelled before he even got a grasp of what it was he was saying. The guilt of you potentially being killed hit him like a train as he realized how this scenario was bound to play out. He had been too stupid, agreeing to fighting the Mind Flayer in hopes of getting you back, cutting you off from the demon permanently. The kids knew and Robin knew that it just wasn't possible.
"Don't kill (Y/N)!" He said, much more confident in his words and in more pain than he thought imaginable. Eleven turned to look at him with sorrowful eyes and an apologetic glance as blood dripped from her nostril above her lip.
"It has to happen!" She stated with utmost certainty. She knew this was the only way and as much as she hated the idea of losing you, she wanted to keep her friends safe. She remembered the times where you offered the kids rides from school and when you gave her advice about boys. You were so close to her, to lose you would be one of the worst things she would have to experience. But she couldn't lose Mike.
"But- I-I love her!" Steve finally let the reality of the situation hit him, his eyes spilling tears all over and his bottom lip quivering in fear and hurt. His heart shattered and his stomach felt as though someone were pushing a knife into him over and over, turning the blade every which way to deepen the wound. His head burned and his hands ached as he pressed his fingernails into the floor, blood starting to form from the tips of them. He had been scratched up pretty badly and the burning of his wounded eye was hardly anything compared to what he felt on the inside.
Steve's words caught your attention. Your mind an empty space of blackness finally felt as though it were opening up. You had no control over your movements prior to this moment and all you could feel was the searing of your flesh coming into contact with the burning sensation of the firecrackers. Running around aimlessly in the void that was your possessed body, you finally felt yourself able to take control- even if just for a moment. You turned to Steve and felt time stop as you looked into his tear-filled eyes knowing it was you that caused him that pain.
You smiled ever so slightly as another firecracker was thrown by Mike, bringing you back to the fight at hand. You winced in pain and felt the demon you were attached to move hastily towards Eleven, who had been knocked to the ground after her previous attempt at killing you. You were going to save her from this if it was the last thing you did. Running to her small body on the ground, you threw yourself on top of her and blocked out the monster's attack, feeling yourself ripping in two. Eyes wide and crying, Eleven looked down at the thing which stabbed you, the leg of the Mind Flayer itself, lodged into your chest.
And in that moment you thought back to the time Steve had asked you to be his. You had stolen his scarf when it was snowing, the falling pieces of sky finding themselves gently tapping your hair and leaving it in a small blanket of white. Your cheeks were rosy and your hands hurt from the cold but Steve's scarf had kept you warm. He was wearing his signature blue jeans and polo shirt with he letterman jacket from the basketball team at Hawkins High. His hair was also coated in snow and even though the two of you were practically freezing to death, he looked happier than ever.
"(Y/N)," he had said that day, "Will you be with me? Like- with me with me?"
You had smiled so much from his cute anxiousness and placed your hand in his. "Of course." You said, the happiest girl on earth.
You looked at Eleven underneath you and smiled the same way you did on the day Steve lent you his scarf.
"Tell Steve I love him too. Please." Were the last words you said before everything you knew faded to black.
...
A/N: I hope this is okay, I don't usually write angst but I was listening to Little Freak by Harry Styles and I'm all out of cookies. Enjoy :) 💛🦐

Eddie Munson X Steve Harrington X Reader
This isn't proofread, please forgive me it's been a long week
⚠️ Warnings: swearing, crack ⚠️
Eddie held onto your hand tightly as you made your way through the hallways of Hawkins High; class was still in session so the two of you had to be somewhat quiet as you snuck your way out the front doors. You were in Chemistry when Eddie had brought up the proposition by waving his hands frantically on the other side of the small window on the door, motioning for you to join him and leave once again. You had looked over to your friend and waited for them to push their books off their desk so you could manage to sneak out. The professor had been too invested in what had happened to notice you slip out the door and into your boyfriend's arms.
You and Eddie had done this many times before, loving the feeling of adrenaline coursing through your entire body as excitement took hold over you, whipping past open doorways and teachers roaming the halls. Giggling, you watched your boyfriend run in front of you with his long and curly hair flowing about his face as the wrinkles around his eyes became more and more prominent with every smile he sent in your direction. His Hellfire Club T-shirt taunted you from afar and his metalhead denim jacket rattled with the weight of his various band pins and patches. He looked absolutely beautiful in this moment.
Noticing one of the classrooms approaching, you hurriedly pulled him back from the open doorway, taking shelter against the wall to try and stay out of view of every student within it. Trying your best to peer in undetected, you noticed that the teacher was on the opposite side of the room. Just then, you locked eyes with a concerned Dustin who was twiddling a pencil in between his fingers and staring at you with a "not this shit again" look. His baseball cap was slightly lopsided and a grin threatened to show on his face when he realized Eddie was with you.
You sent him a salute and then pulled Eddie behind you as fast as you could to escape the eyes of Dustin's classroom. It seemed as though you would make it out without suspicion but Eddie had to hit one of the lockers with his foot, which led to him falling to the floor and laughing.
"Eddie!" You whisper-shouted as you tried to show some form of discontent, but you were laughing too hard with him for it to come across as angry as you would've liked.
"Munson? What are you doing out of class?" Dustin's teacher appeared from her classroom as she took in the sight of the rocker on the ground holding his foot as a stream of giggly curse words left his lips. Standing up as fast as humanly possible, Eddie straightened his shoulders and put on the best serious face he could muster.
"I was showing (Y/N) where the bathrooms were." He said, trying to come up with an excuse on the fly.
"That was the same excuse you used last time I caught you out here."
Eddie struggled to try and come up with something else but then Dustin came running out of the room clutching his stomach and screaming.
"Mrs. Mundy! I'm going to throw up on- on- uh- everything!!!" Dustin screamed, grabbing onto her arm and puffing out his cheeks.
"Dustin! Do you need to see the nurse?!" Mrs. Mundy questioned with concern at her student.
You silently thanked Dustin and grabbed onto Eddie's shoulder, taking the distraction and running in the opposite direction towards the doors where Steve would be waiting with his car for the two of you.
"Actually I think I'm fine, it must've been a spur-of-the-moment thingy." Dustin said, shrugging his shoulders the minute you were out of sight.
You held Eddie's hand as you pushed past the doors and made your way to the familiar blue car parked out front with a familiar looking guy with big hair. He stuck his arm out the window, motioning for you two to run faster. And run faster you did. Jumping up the stairs to the parking lot and hopping in the car, you see principal Higgins walking outside, trying his best to catch up to the two of you.
"You can't leave! School's not over!" He shouted but to no avail as Steve readied his car and drove off so fast you thought the doors might fly off. Eddie was situated in the backseat while you were on the passenger side. Rolling down his window, Eddie flipped the principal off and laughed maniacally.
"Thanks for picking us up, Steve." You said, face beaming.
"Of course, I have to look out for my two little shits." He said, looking in his rearview mirror and watching the school fade into the distance.
"You got any Metallica on that stereo of yours?" Eddie piped in from the back with a hopeful grin.
"Always." Steve said, and put in a tape. The Smiths started blasting through the sound system of the car and he drummed his fingers rhythmically to the beat.
"You motherfucker I asked for Metallica!!" Eddie pouted and hit Steve playfully on the arm over and over again as he threw a little temper tantrum in the backseat.
Steve turned the volume up even higher and yelled over Morrissey, "I can't hear you!"
You propped your feet up against the dash and watched as your boyfriends argued over the radio. Oh well, it was better than sitting through another boring Chemistry lesson.

You finally open up to your boyfriend about how you've been feeling and you're met with a side of him you didn't realize existed.
⚠️ Warnings: MENTIONS OF AN ED, slight angst, slight swearing? Affectionate Billy ⚠️
Sitting outside on the steps to your boyfriend's house, you felt a pit in your stomach as you contemplated what words to use next. In the grand scheme of things, you didn't think your eating habits would be something to worry about with the Upside Down existing, but your boyfriend had you sit down to explain to him what exactly was going on. You supposed that it wasn't fair to keep him out of the loop like this, but you just really didn't want him to worry. You were doing a good job at concealing it for the most part until you had fainted earlier that evening.
"Hey." Billy said, coming out from the house with a bottle of water in his hands. He gently set the drink by you and joined you on the stairs while you looked up at the night sky. It was pretty but you would've enjoyed it more if you weren't about to have the conversation you were going to.
"Hey." Was all you said, not turning to look at him for fear of what he might do or say. Billy had always been somewhat of a menace to others and had been known to be forceful when things didn't go his way. You were usually met with his softer side, or what you supposed would be softer actions. You wondered if that would hold through to tonight. He didn't seem angry when he placed his hand on your leg, gently rubbing the spot and chewing on his lip in concentration. He was at a loss for words.
When he finally figured out exactly how he wanted to go about the situation, he spoke up, "(Y/N), Are you okay? Please don't just say yes because you feel you have to."
Your eyes started to feel droopy with oncoming tears but you pushed them down. It wasn't all the time that you were emotional with him but when he treated you as though you were the whole world, it was hard for you not to be.
Your eyes met his and you noticed how stern but worried he looked. His expression wasn't one you were expecting, to say the least. It was a nice surprise however and you felt your bones become heavy as you let yourself sink into his arms.
"Billy." You said, in between sobs as you finally let go of the words you had been wanting to say for so long.
"(Y/N)."
"I'm having a hard time eating." You said, feeling the words slip off your tongue into reality. It never felt real or like a necessity to talk about until this very moment as your lover stared you in the eyes. You felt him stiffen as you let go into his chest and as one weight lifted, another one fell.
"I know." Was what he replied with, moving his arms to wrap around you and push your hair back behind your ears. This only made you sob harder into his chest. "I've known this whole time but I didn't want to treat you as though you weren't capable of handling yourself. I should've said something sooner."
Getting up from his chest, you tried to wipe the tears off your face in a haste to stop this emotion from taking over. Surprising you with his actions once more, he held your hands gently to stop you from wiping them.
"Don't." He said, rubbing small circles onto your skin. "Let them fall. It's okay."
Billy let you cry some more in his arms as he lit a cigarette. He took a drag and then handed it to you, allowing for you to calm yourself down with the drug. Thanking him silently, you move in closer to his touch and allow for his arms to consume you entirely like the depressive episode you were having. Of course Billy had known. The more you thought about it, the more it made sense. The nights you would go to bed without eating anything he made for the two of you and all of the times you would pass up dinner dates. The breakfasts you spent together where you would insist that a stick of gum was plenty enough to hold you over until lunch and then not meeting him in the cafeteria. He had known all along, but he didn't know how to help you when you didn't know how to help yourself. He wanted to save your ego.
You started to laugh a little bit as you handed the cigarette back up to Billy to which he placed between his fingers and let a small smile loose.
"I missed that noise, where had you been hiding it all this time?" He asked, gently poking you in the sides to try and get another laugh out.
"You were trying to boost my ego." You said, turning up to look at him. That was when you saw a small tear threatening to slip out of his eyes. He was too concentrated on the stars above as he took another drag and listened to what you had to say. You didn't want him to know that you had seen the tear, so you adverted your gaze back to its original position. Now you were the one who was saving his ego.
"No. I just didn't want you to think that I would treat you like you weren't the badass I know and love." He said, passing the cigarette back over to you.
"Would I still be that badass if I asked for a little help every now and then?" You asked, trying to state your insecurity to him in a way that would be a bit playful in fear that you were dropping too much on him. He smiled at you with those beautiful eyes that you fell in love with time and time again.
"Of course." He said with absolute certainty before leaning over and placing a hand on the side of your cheek.
The stars may have been beautiful tonight, but Billy was more beautiful.
Sorry I'm Late, Sweetheart.

When your four friends decide on their plan to defeat Vecna, you're instantly aware of how dangerous this mission will be. It's more difficult than slashing a Demogorgon or hiding from the Mind Flayer and you're unsure whether you'll get out safely. After Nancy is taken, the only thing you can do is lay your life on the line.....and play the most badass rock show the world has ever known.
⚠️ Warnings: swearing, blood and gore⚠️
The cold dark air rushed all around the five of you, snagging at your clothes and brushing your hair every which way. The ashen sky fell with literal ash and painted your clothes with the grey color, almost as a warning of how intertwined with the universe you were to be as you continued on with your weapons in hand. Your shoes scuffed up the ground of the once familiar Hawkins and the vines at your feet made it difficult to navigate without the fear of falling or becoming entangled in them. It was a dark day indeed, and everyone knew it. No one had the comfort of knowing they would make it out of this alive and that resonated with the silence that hung in the air and clawed at your skin; your bones becoming heavier and heavier as you trudged on with tears starting to form in your eyes- wondering if this was the last moment the five of you would share.
Your clothes and everyone else's had been tattered with the previous encounter of Demobats: pesky little things that would be the equivalent of a small demon dog. It had bit Eddie and Robin before they had been slashed by Steve and his axe which he had brought along with him in preparation for this fight. Steve had saved you guys many times, tonight wasn't an exception. He looked older now, a stark contrast from when he was the seventeen-year-old you had first met with his cute haircut and bright eyes. Now, he was filled with a sadness that seeped through his skin and wore out his features, his face a permanent expression of exhaustion and worry. Nancy wasn't too far behind, her face had worn itself out as well and bags were starting to form under her eyes. She was worried about the outcome of today and about Jonathan whom's safety she was always unsure of. Robin's lips were formed into a permanent frown and Eddie....Eddie was the most determined one out of all of you. Lines on his face creased with nervousness and fear as to what came next, but his eyes shone with a passion you had never seen in your life. He was ready. Ready to defend himself and his friends.
You slowly progressed up to where Eddie was walking leading the group and slipped your cold hand in his warm one. He didn't turn to look at you for fear that he would burst into tears at the idea of losing you, but he gave your hand a squeeze to which you did back to him. It was a calming gesture of sorts, and you could feel the confidence slowly coming back to you with having him by your side. His Hellfire shirt seemed like a tease at a life you missed so much: one that was filled with friends and mysticism that only existed in board games. You craved to have that sense of normalcy back; a time where you weren't forced to be a hero.
"Everything will be okay." You whispered, enough for him to hear you. His hair swayed softly with the wind and he chewed on his bottom lip.
"In case it isn't," he began, finally turning to you and you could see a single tear falling from his eyes, "I love you."
You felt your heart shatter. You were just a bunch of kids trying to make it in this world. It wasn't fair for your youth to be stripped away.
And suddenly, everything that was slightly calming about the situation completely evaporated the minute you turned around to check on everyone else. Eyes rolled back into her head and feet floating off the ground, Nancy was staring up at the cursed sky with her mouth slightly agape.
"Nancy!" You yelled, catching the attention of everyone else around you. Steve was the first to react by rushing over to Nancy and trying his best to bring her back down to the earth. Robin followed suit and grabbed one of her legs as she continued to ascend into the air. You and Eddie were at a loss for words or action. Steve had looked at you and almost in slow motion, he gave you the look of a panicked boyfriend even though him and Nancy had broken up long ago. He was terrified. And to make matters worse, there was no Walkman in sight.
"Music! What's her favorite song?!" You yelled, turning to Eddie for help only to realize that where he once stood was empty and he was rushing in the opposite direction. "Eddie!"
Eddie screamed out "I'm getting my guitar!"
With his shoes kicking up the strange otherworldly dirt and nearly tripping over seven vines, he ran faster than he ever had towards the trailer park in which him and his uncle lived. It seemed like a millennia ago, waiting for his uncle to come home from work and listen to Ozzy with him on the record player they shared. It was a fond memory, one of the only ones he had of his uncle that he liked to look back on, but he found this memory to be what continued to push him towards his house and to his guitar. Starting to sweat as he dawned the familiar woods that he used to smoke weed and hang out with you in, he threw off his denim jacket and pushed up his sleeves getting closer and closer to his fated destiny.
He threw open the door and practically fell into the trailer, slipping on the carpet that his uncle had insisted on keeping by the door so as not to track mud into his place. If only his uncle could see the mess now.
Eddie could see the portal back to his universe on the ceiling from where Chrissy had been taken. The vines surrounding the hole overgrown and cascading down all sides of the small living room and through to the bedroom and kitchen. They almost seemed to breathe, as if the entire trailer was alive rather than teeming with life. It was definitely a spectacle. The metal head thought to himself for a moment as he contemplated what it would be like to just jump back through the portal and be far away from here. To rid himself of anything Hawkins related and to relocate somewhere where he would never be found. It would be so much easier just to run away, to not have to be the hero everyone counted on him being.
But then he thought to you. And he quickly recollected himself.
Running to the bedroom, he saw his prized possession hanging up in front of his bedroom mirror, the only thing that wasn't touched by the strangeness of the Upside Down. The cheetah print red shine of the body called out to him and gave him a sense of purpose and time. The familiar strings he had played so many times brushed under his fingers and let out the softest hum of music. It was in tune. Just as he had left it.
"Sorry I'm late, sweetheart." He said, thinking back to the same words he had said when Chrissy was in his presence. He would've loved to be friends with her.
He grabbed the guitar and swung it over his shoulder, quickly finding the amps and power cords he had around his room. It was no easy task, but he moved everything to the roof of the trailer where he knew he would be able to play. He never imagined his first gig since leaving Corroded Coffin to be in another dimension, but he was totally digging the vibe. Cords, cords, and more cords were plugged in as he prepared himself to do the only thing he knew best.
Play music.
....
Nancy didn't have much time. The red sky loomed overhead which was a complete contrast from the familiar blue that she had just left. Everything that wasn't touched by the unsettling blood color was black. The vines, the trees, the ground. Victor Creel's house.
The mansion stuck out like a sore thumb amongst all the chaos of floating rubble. Its towers reached the sky, scraping it with its haphazard rooftops and shingles. The attic window was brightly lit while the rest of the house was pitch black, signifying where Vecna committed his acts of violence: terrorizing the town and dooming young teens to their deaths for what, Nancy wasn't certain. She remembers the lifeless corpse of Fred with his eyes sunken in and his limbs bent every which way. His scar was like a warning as it marked his face and his fate.
Nancy did a once-over and made sure she was okay. Her ribs hurt but it was presumably the fall that led to it. Her eyes burned and her veins jolted with the fear she felt in her entire body, matched by the adrenaline of the fight.
Suddenly, a figure loomed to her left as it joined her in staring at the front of the house. She didn't bother to look at it; to let it know that she was frightened. She wanted to put on a brave front. The figure was almost a foot taller than she was and she could feel the vines pushing out of the way for this being to walk. It's hot breath met her ear.
"It was such a lovely house." It said, making itself known. Nancy gulped back some of the fear she felt and allowed her fingers to nervously drum against the sides of her thighs. It was torturous just to be in the presence of Vecna as she knew how it was going to play out if the others didn't save her. Her body joining Fred and Chrissy, six feet under with a torso so bent out of shape they would have to create a custom coffin. The very thought chilled her to the bone.
"Why are you doing this?" She asked, sounding more scared than she meant to.
Vecna turned to look at her and moved towards the front of the stairs, backing her into a corner. It was such an odd juxtaposition; an evil entity with all the power in the world being so calm towards her, as if this wasn't her death he was about to bring onto her.
"I will end all your suffering." He said, slowly lifting up his arm which was adorned with long claws attached to even longer fingers, moving to touch her face ever so gently but piercing into her skin. She closed her eyes and thought back to the night she was at Jonathan's house.
The alphabet was horribly drawn into the yellowing wallpaper, Christmas lights surrounding the entirety of the house and illuminating the living room and writing. The lights were going off one by one as Will tried to contact them, using the letters to form short words and sentences. Steve had been there too, a bat with nails in it and a black eye from his fight with Jonathan. The two boys looked at each other and then at her as they awaited what was to happen next. Nancy held the weight of a gun in her hands.
When the wall broke in and a Demogorgon appeared, it had been Steve that had acted first. With his bat in hand and baseball stance, he had struck the demon over and over again, watching it bleed out into the ground from whence it came. Even then, he continued to strike the beast over and over just in an attempt to protect Nancy.
He had saved her then, and he would save her now. Nancy was sure of it.
"It's the final countdown."
All of a sudden, her thoughts were interrupted by a song that was so familiar and overplayed she wanted to laugh at the ridiculousness and throw up with the fear at the same time. Her mouth contorted into something of a smile as Vecna released his grip on her skull, forcing Nancy to the ground as she looked towards the red sky that was now blue towards the far right of the house.
Turning back on the ground and taking one last glance at Vecna, she locked eyes with the creature that looked more angry than anything else.
"Fuck you." She said, and started running towards the blue light.
The ground felt like water as she tried to run the fastest she could away from Vecna. The floating debris of the house started raining down on her, trying to stray her from her path. One from the right and then one from the left, sending her onto the ground only for her to get right back up again and run even faster than before.
"We're heading for Venus..."
Nancy followed the song and followed the light, losing her slip on shoes in the process. Barefoot, she raced towards the end of this nightmarish hell, bracing herself for impact if she were to fall again. Catching a quick glimpse from behind her, she saw the beast wasn't too far behind.
"And still we stand tall..."
The silly tune guided her to the end of the light where she finally made out of the red portal and back into her body. Feeling a surge of motion sickness, she felt herself fill her body once again, feeling like the little pills with sponge dinosaurs once they hit water.
Dropping from the sky, she fell back into the arms of Steve, who was ready to catch her from the beginning. He held her closely, brushing stray strands of hair from her face and taking in her frazzled state. She was covered in dirt and there were scratches on the sides of her face that he swore hadn't been there before.
"Cause maybe they've seen us...and welcome us all, yeah..."
Eddie's music blared on from the woods, louder than anything they've ever heard. The Demobats started to fill the sky in search of the sound, rushing through the sky and towards the trees. You stood frozen in place as you watched them head towards your boyfriend. Looking towards Robin, she gave you a smile and tilted her head in Eddie's direction.
"Go save him." She said with absolute certainty and you felt yourself running towards your boyfriend before she even finished getting the words out. Your shoes made heavy stomping noises as you ran faster than you ever had in your life in hopes of making it in time to warn Eddie and beat the swarm together.
As you neared the woods, you saw his jacket lying on the ground and you picked it up, throwing it over your shoulders and running up to his residence, seeing him shredding his guitar and head banging like you had so many times when seeing him play for Corroded Coffin.
"Eddie!" You screamed, jumping up the ladder and racing to his side. He was so lost in the song, he didn't even notice you had joined him up on the roof until you grabbed one of the other guitars he had brought up there.
"Hey! What are you planning on doing with that?!" He asked over the music.
"Oh shut up! You have another one at home!" You said, preparing the guitar like a bat.
"You're such a badass!" He said as he finally gave you a smile since getting mixed up in the affairs of the Upside Down. The Final Countdown ended and Eddie took a look at his guitar, his most precious thing in the universe after you, of course. Giving a swift kiss to the body, he held it out in front of him and mumbled an "I love you" before he readied it like a baseball bat, same as you.
"Here they come!" You said, watching the Demobats fill the night sky and coming rushing down towards the two of you.
"This is the most heavy metal thing I've ever done!" Eddie yelled and then the two of you started beating the bats with the guitars, throwing them down onto the ground and the roof as you hit them over and over and stabbed them with the broken pieces. Eddie dropped his guitar and bit off the head of one, watching the blood spurt out onto the equipment that was now useless. You crushed one of the bats in between two of the amps and watched the blood spurt out and fly everywhere, coating your clothes in it. It would be a miracle if Eddie would be able to wear his Hellfire Club shirt again after this. Just then, two more bats came your way at full speed.
Eddie moved in towards you after finishing with his bat and pushed you off the trailer, holding you in his arms to stop the fall. He watched the bats get confused and continue to fly forwards in search of you as he pulled you up off the ground and rushed you into his house.
Locking the door and barricading it with everything in his sight, you both sat on the ground next to the couch to keep out of sight from the windows and to catch your breaths. Everything happened so fast, it was surprising that you two had made it out of that situation alive. Looking at your boyfriend you saw a couple cuts along his face and arms and you grazed his skin gently.
"Eddie. I saw you bit the head off a bat. You totally had your Ozzy Osbourne moment." You said, giggling slightly.
"(Y/N). That was singlehandedly the coolest moment of my life." He said.
The two of you made out on the floor of course.
They Don't Deserve You.
Steve Harrington X Reader
When you ask your friend to go to prom for fun and they decide to leave you, someone far better and more interesting appears and sweeps you off your feet.
⚠️ Warnings: Swearing ⚠️
(Just a short little drabble!)
The lights and music blaring from the venue hid you from the watchful eyes as you were a complete and utter mess. The sky started to darken allowing for a cover as you tried your hardest not to cry, sniffling from the banister leading into the event. Your shoes were scuffed and your wrist hurt from the once pretty corsage and your makeup felt much too heavy on your face. You had tried so hard to make everything about tonight fun since this year truly hadn't been the best. It's supposed to be the night of the year but of course it just ended the same way your previous ones had; you were alone and unhappy.
Your "date's" words rang through your head as you remembered how blatantly rude they had been to you and your friends. Deciding to up and leave the prom entirely, they had walked in with you for the approval of everyone else and left the minute they didn't have a use for you anymore. It wasn't fair. A part of you didn't blame them though. Why would you have expected them to want to stay?
The doors were announced to be closing from the main entryway which you were standing directly outside of. You needed to feel the wind to calm yourself down after today, so you opted to remain right where you were standing beside the railing and hoping for your date to realize they had made a mistake and come driving back to you.
Of course this didn't happen though, and after a couple more moments you picked up your dress so as not to step on it as you walked back towards the horde of other students in sparkly attire and smiling faces. It was going to be hard to meander back into the rest of society after being out here for so long, but you were sure that after a few drinks later this entire school event will be long forgotten.
"Hey!" You heard from under the stair railing. The entire venue had been elevated due to it being on a hill so there was a blind spot out of sight from the teachers roaming around. Looking behind you, you contemplated walking back to your original spot to scope things out but decided it was probably your imagination. Until you heard the voice again.
"("Y/N")!"
It was louder this time, but still a whisper of sorts. Going back towards the banister, you look down and see the most brilliant head of hair. Bright eyes and a shining smile, your friend Steve Harrington stood below you in a black suit and red button up. He had come with a different girl, but he was alone now. Alone with the most excited look on his face.
"Harrington?" You called and tried your best to hide the fact that you'd been crying. Wiping your face with the back of your hands, you put on the best smile you could possibly muster with the sinking feeling in your stomach.
"You look beautiful." He said, coming up to your level from his secret hiding spot. With him standing this close to you, the height difference was apparent as he stood at 6ft. Well, add a couple inches for the hair.
"Thank you." You said, even though you didn't believe it. If you had looked prettier then maybe you wouldn't have been left outside from the party by yourself.
Steve offers his hand out to you and motions his head towards the road. "Wanna get out of here?" He asks, slipping his other hand into his pants pocket.
Confusion dawning your face, you looked for Steve's date. He couldn't just up and leave her, could he?
"What about-"
"My date?" He began, smiling even wider, "She left with yours."
"Oh." Was all you could say, shocked at the idea of your friend leaving because of someone else. You felt the pain in your chest tighten just a little bit more as jealousy filled you. What wasn't envy was self-doubt. Why had things turned out the way they did? And who on earth would leave Steve Harrington when he looks this goddamn good?
"It's really okay! Fuck them." He laughed, placing his hand in yours. You caught a whiff of his deliciously intoxicating cologne and stared at the rest of his outfit. He looked really nice. Too nice to be by himself tonight. Little did you know, he thought the exact same thing about you.
"You know what? Yeah. Fuck them." You said, wiping the stray tear that fell from your cheek as you took off your shoes and followed Harrington into the night towards his car. Running through the grass, you heard one of Kate Bush's popular songs playing, urging you to run faster. Laughing, you allow yourself to feel free and happy being with someone who didn't take you for granted. The way it should've been.
"They don't deserve you!" Steve called out to you over the music, trying his best to be heard over the intensive bass.
"What?!"
"I said, they don't deserve you!"
And just like that, you and Steve drove away into the night, a whole new flood of possibilities overwhelming you and leaving you with the happiest feeling within the pit of your stomach. You silently thanked that asshole for leaving you since someone far cooler with much bigger hair was able to sweep you off your feet.

As Steve’s car disappeared into the woods, you made your way to Jason. When he saw you approaching, he put on a little smile and greeted you with a swift nod of his head. He looked like a mess with all of his clothes soaked up and he seemed like he didn't sleep all night.
‘(Y/N)! What are you doing here?’ He asked curiously, tilting his head. It was obvious that he was shocked to see you there. Only two types of people would’ve been there; weed addicts or people who would know where Eddie was this whole time.
‘Jason, hey… You good? What happened?’ You asked, trying to avoid his question while putting on a sincere, worried look on your face.
‘Answer me first, sweetie.’ He said in return, he was still smiling but now it was a fake, forced one. It didn’t quite reach his eyes.
‘I’m sorry… I don’t understand.’ You answered, frowning. You were trying to appear clueless. You also hated the nickname but you couldn’t let him get to you and show your anger, not now.
In an attempt to close the big distance between the two of you, he took a step forward and tried to be closer so that you would feel intimidated by his tall, muscular frame. You didn’t move even though you felt a wave of fear washing over you.
‘C’mon, tell me.’
‘...Fine.’ You sighed.
Then you rapidly took a look around, especially at the police cars and tried to seem like you were embarrassed about what you were going to say next. Seeing you in distress, he looked at where you were looking and turned to you, whispering:
‘Wait, are you here to… buy drugs?’ He furrowed his brows and you hummed in response.
‘Damn, didn’t know you were a fucking junkie, (Y/N).’
‘Well, you got me!’ You exclaimed as you put both of your hands up high, accepting the ‘defeat’... This guy knew exactly how to annoy you.
‘You don’t seem like the type to smoke weed and be a fucking coward. That’s awful.’
‘Well Chrissy didn’t either, did she?’ You blurted out. Being fed with Jason’s bullshit, you wanted to give him a piece of your mind.
‘What did you just say?’
‘Don’t you dare talk about her that way.’ He was now gritting his teeth, angry at the thing you said and continued,
‘Where did you even get this ‘Rick’ guy’s number? From the school’s freak?’ And with that, he stopped talking. He was trying to get a reaction out of you.
‘Oh, the D&D club leader? What was his name… Ethan? Edward?’
‘They call him Eddie. He is a fucking cult leader. I saw him last night, he was hiding in here. When he saw us, he tried to escape. I was with Patrick when that loser ran away. We were right after him, so close to capturing him when, when Patrick…’
He was having a hard time explaining what happened. But you understood what went down in a matter of seconds: Patrick was also cursed by Vecna and it was too late for him now.
‘I’m sorry about what happened Jason, it must be really tough.’
‘Are you really now? Insulting Chrissy like that… She wasn’t like any of you freaks.’
‘Look Jason… I’m trying to be understanding here… But you’re making it really hard. Stop calling us names. Not everyone is living the dream life you’re living, prince charming.’
‘You’re calling this a dream? My girlfriend and one of my best friends are dead. Because of that satanic cult leader.’ He said in disgust.
‘Satanic? He just likes to play a fantasy game, he doesn't worship the goddamn satan.’ You hissed, now it was your turn to grit your teeth. You couldn’t stand his attitude towards Eddie.
‘Why are you defending him?’ He asked and slowly started to put the pieces together:
‘...Steve dropped you off here, didn’t he? I saw some other figures in the back of his car. He was really close with the Henderson kid, what was his name… Dustin, right?’
‘Oh what now? You’re gonna go after King Steve with your little ducklings? …Good luck.’
‘(Y/N), you wouldn’t wanna do this. We just want to know where Eddie is. Help us out and I might find a way to return the favor...’ He said, grinning. You felt as if you were going mental.
‘Even If I knew where Eddie or Dustin was, you wouldn’t get a single word out of my mouth. You hear me? Not even a single word.’
‘Don’t make this harder than it should be. You wouldn’t like the consequences.’
‘Oh I would love to see you try, Carver.’
****
As you finished the conversation, you heard a car engine rolling up. It was, of course, Steve. Not wanting to risk the kids, he didn’t come near you. Instead, he parked right beside where the forest started and got out of the car.
After getting out and seeing you standing so close to Jason, he got worried and locked his eyes on him. You turned back, only to catch him glaring at Jason. With that, you gave Jason a look of warning and went to Steve’s car.
When you got in the car, you noticed that Dustin looked so relieved. You were about to ask what happened when Lucas questioned you, about what happened between you and Jason.
You started telling them everything as Steve drove off into the woods. After a few minutes, you filled them in with all the details and turned back to the passengers seat: Dustin was overjoyed with happiness. It has been a few days since you last saw him this relaxed and happy.
‘Guys.. Is he okay?’ you asked.
‘Dustin, just tell her the news.’ stated Robin, giving him a little shoulder blow because she was sitting in between him and Lucas in the backseat.
‘Okay okay. (Y/N), you ready to hear the amazing news?’
‘Is it about… Eddie?’
‘Bingo.’
****
As Steve parked in an unknown place, you got out of his car and started to gather your things. When all of you were ready to go, Steve volunteered to lead you to the destination. He said that the place was his speciality and it was: Skull Rock.
A few minutes earlier in the car, after being so curious for the longest time, Dustin told you that Eddie called them from a construction worker’s walkie-talkie. At first, it was hard for you to digest the information but later, after your talk with Jason you started to understand what happened.
Apparently, Eddie only told Dustin that he was at Skull Rock, that he needed help and on a special note, that he missed you.
Hearing Dustin say all of that made you feel over the moon. You were so happy to hear that Eddie finally reached out to you guys and that he was okay and safe. But even if you heard him say all of that, you had to see him for yourself as soon as possible.
And now, you were following Steve into the woods while he and Dustin were arguing about whether or not you guys were going in the right direction. Dustin kept telling Steve that you were going in the wrong direction and that they were going to get lost according to his compass.
After a few minutes of listening to Dustin nagging, Steve couldn't take it anymore and said: ‘Look, I made this place famous okay? I know where it is, so just follow me and trust me Henderson.’
You didn’t know where this infamous Skull Rock was and apparently, none of you knew it other than Steve so you followed him, hoping that he was true. At that point, Dustin didn’t have a choice but not to follow him so he took his place right behind him and let him guide you into the forest.
While taking a stroll down the forest, you thought to yourself that Eddie was indeed, waiting for you guys there. He probably didn't have anything to eat for a day or two, so you packed all the snacks and stuffed them into your bag earlier. But oh crap! You forgot the six packs at Hendersons’.
Luckily, you knew how to make up for it.
After a long walk in the woods, you finally made it to the Skull Rock. It was a huge rock that looked like… a skull. How surprising.
Your eyes were searching the spot like crazy for a sign of Eddie, the six of you were looking everywhere but none of you seemed to find him.
As you began to lose hope, you turned back to Dustin only to see Eddie jumping to the ground from the top of the big rock.
When both of you locked eyes, it almost felt as if the whole world stopped spinning. Almost felt like everything lost its meaning besides Eddie. Your lover was standing right in front of you, safe and sound. After all this time, seeing him brought tears to your eyes, tears of joy. Although he looked like a mess, you didn't care.
He was looking into your eyes so deeply you once again remembered how much you loved his doe brown eyes. His beautiful brown curls, his denim ‘Dio’ jacket on top of a leather one, the metal chain hanging off of his pants never looked so good and like home to you.
You never thought someone could’ve felt like home, but he did.
When Dustin saw how surprised you were, he slowly turned back and found Eddie standing there, staring at you. Without giving it much of a thought, he ran to him and hugged him, hard.
Eddie was taken aback by his action and you were really surprised this time, if you weren’t this much before. Understanding that he had no choice other than to hug Dustin back, Eddie patted Dustin’s shoulder and returned the hug.
When Eddie returned his hug, Dustin snuggled up to him and you heard a sniffling coming from him.
Eddie had a neutral face when Dustin hugged him at first, but after hearing him try to cover up his crying, he couldn’t help but have a little gloomy smile on his face. Knowing that he meant so much to Dustin made his heart melt and he hugged him tighter for a few more seconds before letting him go.
When you saw that scene unravel right in front of you, you couldn’t help but get more emotional. They had such a great, brotherly bond and you’ve never been aware of it like this before.
And the big moment finally came: After a few seconds of sharing a meaningful gaze, he started to walk towards you. There was kind of a big distance between the two of you and you didn’t want to wait any longer, so you started to run to him.
Seeing you running towards him, he opened his arms to his sides and flashed you a smile while a teardrop fell down his face.
Finally after a few steps, you jumped into his arms and buried your face in his chest.
He immediately wrapped his arms around you and placed his head on top of yours, sniffing your hair. He loved the way you smell, you brought so much comfort and happiness to him than you could’ve possibly imagined.
‘Eddie, I was- I was so scared that something… might’ve happened to you.’ You said, not breaking apart, still holding him as close as possible. You were a sobbing mess, feeling tears streaming down your face and staining his denim jacket.
‘Well, I was scared too but… I’m here now.’ He mumbled and hugged you tighter. You swore you could’ve held onto him for the rest of your life. After a few more seconds, he broke apart and started nudging your chin with his thumb until you were looking him in the eyes.
‘Hey hey hey, wipe those tears baby.’ He said, putting a strand of hair behind your ear with his free hand to see your beautiful face better. All you could ever do was to weep quietly while looking into his eyes with love and sadness.
‘I love you, (Y/N). Don’t you ever forget that.’ He said for everyone to hear and with that, his lips were on top of yours. It wasn’t anything intense or sloppy, it was more like a tender and gentle kiss. You were holding each other close, your arms wrapped around his neck and his wrapped around your waist, drawing you in.
As you broke apart, you whispered ‘I love you too Eddie.’
Not being able to open your eyes after the kiss, you wanted the feeling to linger. You were both an emotional mess but at least you got your happy ending, for now…
‘Where’s my ‘I love you’, man?’ Dustin yelled, in a playful yet surprisingly serious way. His eyes were still teary.
‘I love you too, Henderson. C’mere.’
****
After the three of you came back to your senses, it was time to discuss a new plan. During Steve and Dustin’s argument about where the Skull Rock was located, Dustin thought that his compass was broken. But later, he understood that wasn’t the case: There was another source that was more powerful out there which made the compass show north in its direction.
A brainstorming session after, Dustin said that it could be another gate to the Upside Down and that you had to check it out as soon as possible. In the meantime, he made Eddie agree on coming with the rest of you.
‘...So uh, I did the thing that I do now, apparently. I ran. And I say you're asking me to follow you into Mordor… but The Shire is burning. So Mordor it is.’
Dustin started to jump cheerfully and had this huge smile on his face. Though, the rest of you were pretty clueless about what Eddie just said. So he thought he had to clarify himself:
‘I’ll come with you guys. It’s better than hiding. Doesn’t even fit a Dungeon Master anyway.’
After some time, everybody was ready to leave Skull Rock when you heard a strange noise.
...A grandpa clock ticking to be precise. You felt a shiver run down your spine and turned your back, only to see one. It looked so real.
Thinking back about the things Max told all of you, you couldn’t help but to stare at the clock, eyes wide open with terror.
‘(Y/N), baby, what’s wrong?’ Said Eddie as he put a hand on your back. He was the first person to realize what was going on with you.
You didn’t hear him talking to you because you were spaced out; After seeing the clock, you lost the concept of reality and the knowledge of what was real or not in a matter of seconds. So when you felt his touch, your heartbeat quickened and you thought you were going to lose your mind right there and then.
‘Jesus Christ!’ You exclaimed, turning to Eddie.
‘Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. Are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost or something.’
‘...You guys don’t see it, do you?’ You added, looking around frantically between the clock and the others. While doing so, you saw Eddie’s pale face and the worried expression he had which made you realize that you were once again seeing a vision.
You were still at the Skull Rock, everyone was now starting to gather around in a circle.
You immediately switched your gaze to Max only to see she had the same worried look on her face with a little bit of confusion. She quickly took off her headphones and gave all of her attention to you, asking:
‘(Y/N)... Why didn’t you tell us?’
‘I didn’t want to burden anyone… We were working on so many other things-’
‘How long have you been experiencing these symptoms?’ Nancy asked.
‘I don’t know, I always had nightmares but the headaches and visions began not too long ago.’
‘She told us that she saw a grandpa clock so... unfortunately she doesn’t have much time. Mine happened 24 hours later after seeing it.’ Added Max, a pained expression covering her face.
You knew eventually that you were going to be a victim of Vecna but you never thought that it would happen this soon.
When you heard the words that left Max’s mouth, you felt as if your legs couldn’t hold you any longer and you looked around for a rock to sit on. Luckily there was a log of wood near you so you carefully sat on top of it.
Eddie was next to you while you were standing and after you sat down, he sat right next to you, close. Your knees were brushing against one another and he reached his hand out to hold yours.
The warm sensation of his hand brought you some comfort and you flashed him a grateful little smile. He was still worried and when he saw you smiling, he felt a tiny bit of relief.
‘What can we do to save her from that… fucker’s curse?’ Eddie asked, growing impatient because of the urgence of the problem.
Although he was scared, he didn’t want to make you feel more anxious than you already were so he started rubbing your thumb with gentle motions.
Kate Bush’s song still being heard through her headphones, Max replied:
‘(Y/N), what is your favorite song?’

Summary: A headcanon where the reader and Eddie adopt a big dog + my general ideas about him and pets. Just whole lotta fluff.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Gn!Reader
⭒ First, let's settle this; He is definitely a dog person. He has nothing against cats. In fact, he would love to pet them, if there aren't any available dogs around.
⭒ His goofy, sweet personality works like a charm when it comes to big dogs.
⭒ He always wanted to adopt one growing up but unfortunately, his dad was never there to support his wish. So when you went to him and asked if he'd want to adopt a big dog with you, he was over the moon.
⭒ He always wanted to adopt one growing up but unfortunately, his dad was never there to support his wish. So when you went to him and asked if he'd want to adopt a big dog with you, he was over the moon.
⭒ One day, you went to the Hawkins Shelter and looked at all the puppies until you found *the* one.
⭒ He was an Australian Shepherd with the cutest smile on his face, looking at both of you as you went to pet him.
⭒ He was wagging his tail to the right with a quick pace. Eddie became so excited and hyper, telling you 'Look, he likes us! Oh. My. God. Look at that cute little face!'
⭒ He quickly crouched in front of the dog and his hands went behind the dogs' ears, scratching there saying 'Hey handsome.'
⭒ After a few minutes of petting and whispering sweet nothings to the cute dog, Eddie ushered you to sit next to him. He was so happy; His eyes were beaming with light and he had the biggest smile on his face. Your heart melted at the sight and you sat next to him immediately.
⭒ He stopped petting the dog because it was your turn... Plus, he had to take a picture of you and your soon-to-be-adopted-shepherd to immortalize this moment. He thought that you looked too cute to be true.
⭒ After all the paperwork, you all went back to his trailer and you started to prepare a little sleeping spot full of pillows and a blanket inside. While you were working on that, Eddie and him were running outside, getting rid of the excess energy.
⭒ When they came back inside, you guided the dog to his sleeping spot and petted him until he fell asleep. Eddie was watching the two of you and thought of how lucky he got.
⭒ Eddie loves to roughhouse the dog and play fetch with him. In short: He loves to do all the crazy, energy-requiring activities.
⭒ Unfortunately, he isn't always available to go home right after school. Sometimes he stays for his D&D campaigns or practices with his band.
⭒ If he was busy that day, when he comes home; He makes sure both of your 'son' is taken care of and he makes it up to him, showering him with pets on his head, scratches behind his ear and cuddles.
⭒ Oh and also, Eddie's uncle Wayne loves the dog too and he was so happy to hear that both of you decided to adopt him together.
⭒ He knew how much you made his nephew happy and that you were the best thing that ever happened to him.
Author's note: I plan on making an Eddie taglist, would any of you interested in being in it? If so, let me know! Hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to check my other works.

Spoilers below cut, you have been warned!
After Max found out that she was going to die tomorrow, she couldn't sleep. Instead, all she ever wanted was to write letters to the ones she cared for the most. Or to the ones she wanted to say something for the last time. She knew that she didn't have much time left so she wanted to leave others something that they could cherish after she was gone.
While Nancy and Robin were choosing their ‘academic looks’ for tomorrow upstairs, you helped them pick some of the pieces they were going to wear. As much as you wanted to stay right beside Max, she was too busy with her letters and didn’t want to talk to anyone. And as a result of that, you were now listening to Steve whining about always being the goddamn babysitter.
‘Nancy, does Robin look like an academic scholar to you?’ He asked while looking at Nancy, moving his eyebrows up and furrowing them, asking the question seriously.
Then immediately, you heard Robin saying ‘Oh my god it has a little ballerina in it!’ while holding a small music box, showing it to you and the others.
‘Robin it’s not the best time-’ you quickly whispered. You were sitting on Nancy’s bed so you were close to Robin. She heard you and quickly but clumsily, she closed the cute little box and put it where it belonged.
Steve was looking in Robin's direction and he rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed at how Robin always ended up partnering with Nancy when he could’ve spent that time with her. He turned to Nancy once more to check if she was sure of the decision she made... She was.
‘Maybe not right now but when she wears this, she will be.’ Nancy smiled and turned to the rest of you. She was holding a preppy, pastel colored flared top and a long skirt. She also had some jewelry for Robin which fitted with the whole vibe of that look. Robin looked at Nancy in disbelief and tried to protest her but she also knew she didn’t have another choice.
After deciding Nancy’s look too, you all kicked Steve out of the room. ‘Oh so you guys are gonna change now? Well I uh, I can turn around and wait.’
‘Steve… leave this to us girls, okay?’
‘Oh okay… Well, I’ll just go and check up on the others.’
‘Let me know if you guys need anything.’ He said as he walked out of the room. Robin got up from the bed and followed Steve to close the door behind him. She was saying ‘Yeah yeah we will, just go now.’
As she was closing the door, Steve turned to his back and tried to stop Robin, his hands on the door. ‘You know I can use my charm Nancy!’ He yelled.
‘STEVE DO US A FAVOR AND GO BABYSIT THE GODDAMN KIDS!’ Robin shouted as she closed the door shut to Steve’s face.
You looked at Robin and saw the amusement in her eyes. She was trying to hold back her laughter because Steve was desperately trying to be close to Nancy. You also tried not to laugh and you guys were now having a kind of staring contest to see who would break out laughing first.
But neither of you lasted another second as you started to give up and laugh loudly. While you guys were busy having fun, you noticed that Nancy was giggling, she had a little smirk on her face. She was trying to hide it but she wasn’t very good at it.
All of you stayed at the Wheelers’ house that night.
****
After Nancy and Ms Wheeler made sure everyone had a blanket and a pillow, Ms Wheeler said good night to everybody and got out of the living room in order to go to her bedroom.
When Nancy heard the cracks coming from the stairs, she understood that her mother was far away from them. Without wasting another second, she turned to Steve, Lucas and Dustin and told them that they had to keep an eye out for Max.
Anything could’ve happened to her in a matter of seconds and none of you wanted that. So in order to prevent it or at least discover it before it's too late, Nancy thought of watching over her.
Even though you didn’t know how to protect her from an invisible murderer-monster, you knew she would feel safer with other people around her.
And it was up to the guys to watch over her. You normally would’ve stayed with them but Nancy invited you to her bedroom and you couldn’t turn down a more comfortable sleeping environment. Robin was going to sleep in Nancy’s room too.
Everyone said good night and the three of you headed upstairs. After a little walk down the hallway, you reached the bedroom and got settled, getting ready to sleep. Just after you, Nancy and Robin sat down on Nancy’s bed and they started to go over their plan for tomorrow one last time, before sleeping.
They were trying to keep it quiet but Robin wasn’t really good at whispering. You didn’t mind it though. After the visions and the horrible nightmares you had for the past couple of days, you didn’t want to be alone in the dark. So needless to say, you were happy about the company.
*****
And after you had a much needed quality sleep, tomorrow came.
You woke up feeling the tingling and warm sensation of sun rays on your face. It was early in the morning; the sun was shining and the birds were chiming. It seemed like it ought to be a good day. At least, you hoped that way but life had other plans for all of you.
While you were still under your blanket, yawning and trying to get rid of the foggines that was covering your brain due to just waking up, you heard Nancy rushing out the door.
She went downstairs and walked to the living room quickly to check on Max and the others. You stood up and went to the bathroom to wash your face. A few minutes passed and you heard Robin calling your name for you to come to the living room.
You rapidly went downstairs and joined the others. Everyone was packing their things and were ready to go. Nancy and Robin were going to the asylum as planned and Max wanted to drop off some of her letters to her house so Steve was going to drive the kids there.
And while the others were busy with all of that, you were going to go to the supermarket to grab Eddie some snacks… and maybe a 6 pack. They promised to go back to the shack and check him in the evening if everything worked out perfectly. So you had to be prepared in case you got to see him.
****
After shopping, you wanted to reach out to Eddie and tell him that you got him the six pack he desperately wanted. Though unfortunately, Steve and Nancy got the walkie talkies and you didn’t have another option other than Dustin’s setup if you wanted to talk to Eddie. So, you went to Dustin’s house to try out your luck.
With a paper bag full of snacks and beer cans, you knocked on the Hendersons' door. A few seconds passed and you knocked again. Hearing nothing but a distant car engine noise, you started to grow impatient. You knocked one more time and yelled,
‘Ms Henderson, are you at home?
‘HELLO? Anybody?’
It was clear that she wasn’t at home. But you didn’t give up, you weren’t planning on it. So, you wandered around the house and found Dustin’s bedroom window. You needed something to step on in order to reach the window and get inside. Luckily, there was a mini ladder in the backyard of their neighbor.
You swiftly skimmed around and saw that no one was nearby; Hendersons’ neighbors must’ve been at work and there was no one in plain sight.
Then, with the adrenaline rushing, you quickly moved over to their garden and grabbed the little white wooden ladder, placed it underneath the window and climbed up.
When you grabbed the hems of the window, you put all the pressure on your hands and jumped inside, landing on the floor. When your body met the floor, there was a big noise. A noise big enough to alert Dustin’s cat. You quickly stood up.
You’ve been at Dustin’s house dozens of times by now and you tried to pet Tews in every chance you got. A year or two ago, their first cat Mews died and in order to open their house to a new cat and try to fill the emotional gap, they adopted the cute little Tews.
‘Hey baby.’ You whispered gently and Tews came closer to you, rubbing himself onto your legs. You quickly crouched and started to pet him. Hearing the lovely purrs he makes made your heart melt.
You continued to pet him a little longer and as far as you could tell, Tews was very happy with his current situation. As much as you wanted to spend more time with him, you had to speak to Eddie.
It’s been a long time since you two last talked and you desperately wanted to hear him. Hear him saying that he was safe and happy.
You didn’t know all of Dustin’s ham radio setup but luckily you knew the basics. He has taught you about it when you asked what it was the first time you were in his house.
You weren’t actually curious about how it worked but when he started to tell you all the details about it, you knew you had to listen to him because he was so happy to teach it to somebody. You couldn’t stop him after you saw the excitement in his eyes.
And this one time in Family Video Parlor, while he was telling about his day to Steve, he mentioned that he taught you about his radio.
‘See, (Y/N) is way cooler than you, Steve. You never wanted to learn about it!’
‘Woah woah woah woah… Henderson?’ He looked hurt, placing a hand over his heart as if he had been stabbed.
‘Don’t sound so surprised Steve, he’s right. She is definitely cooler than you.’ Added Robin.
You chuckled at the sight in front of you; Steve was furrowing his eyebrows and his mouth was agape, looking confused and a little sad. He was definitely putting on a show.
In the meantime, Dustin was looking directly in his eyes, challenging him and smiling brightly than ever. These little moments brought joy to your life.
****
After setting the radio and controlling all the buttons, you braced yourself and touched the voice button.
‘Munson, can you hear me?’
No sound.
‘If you can hear me, please say something Munson. This should be working.’
Still no answer.
You tried again.
‘Eddie, please answer me… EDDIE!’
After yelling, you heard nothing but Tews’ little meow. You couldn’t comprehend what was going on. You did everything like Dustin has shown you. You checked all the buttons again, fearing the worst;
What if Eddie got caught? What if the police found him? Or worse, what if Jason and the others found him? You didn’t want to let the bad thoughts consume you but it was late. You were already scared.
You felt your vision getting blurry as your eyes began to water up. You looked around the room in an attempt to clear your head but suddenly, there was this painful ache in your heart, your throat burning.
You didn’t know what to do. For a few seconds, you blankly stared at the wall in front of you, trying to come up with an idea. Then you thought of communicating with the others so that you guys could make a plan and go see him sooner.
You were trying to change the station in order to reach out to Dustin’s walkie talkie. You did the last adjustments and you were ready to go.
‘Dustin? Dustin please tell me you copy.’
‘(Y/N)? How?’
‘I uh, broke into your house but that's not important right now.’
You tried to ignore the lump in your throat and continued: ‘I can’t reach out to Eddie and I’m worried, like really worried.’
‘...Are you sure you checked all the buttons? Maybe you made a mistake-’
You knitted your eyebrows as you felt a couple of tears streaming down your cheek and tried your hardest not to break into tears.
‘Dustin look. I controlled them over and over again. I didn’t make a mistake. We have to go to the shack as soon as possible, I need to know if he’s alright.’
‘Maybe he is busy with something (Y/N). We’re here at the graveyard right now, Max is sitting in front of Billy’s gravestone, reading her letter to him.’
‘Once she finishes, we’ll come pick you up and go to the shack okay? I promise. But us coming to you, it could take a while.’
‘Dustin please, you don’t understand. We have to check up on him as soon as we can. We could be too late.’
For a while, Dustin didn’t give you an answer and you didn’t hear anything from them. Not even a single noise.
‘Dustin?...DUSTIN.’
You heard a distant voice, you figured that it belonged to Lucas. ‘DUSTIN SHE’S FLOATING! ...FLOATING!!’
‘...Oh sHIT SHIT SHIT!’ Dustin exclaimed. His voice was higher than usual, meaning he was really scared.
‘WHAT DO YOU MEAN FLOATING? DUSTIN WHA-’
‘(Y/N) GOTTA GO TALK TO YA LATER.’
****
After talking to Dustin, you had so many questions but you didn’t have anything to do. Your hands were tied and this waiting was going to drive you nuts.
Hoping that Nancy and Robin found a way to beat Vecna, you laid down on Dustin’s bed and drifted off to a small nap without realizing. Turns out, after all that mental exhaustion you desperately needed a rest.
Even though your nap was small, the dream you saw had a long lasting effect on you even after you woke up.
In your dream, you were in the same exact position, laying down on Dustin’s bed in their house, Tews snuggling up to you. For a second, you looked so peaceful.
But this moment didn’t stay for long. After a few seconds, you woke up to a gunshot sound that had just flared. The noise came from somewhere close, as if it happened in the backyard of Hendersons’.
You quickly but carefully stood up, trying not to wake the cat up. First, you looked outside from the living room window but you couldn’t quite tell who those people were at first glance. But there were two people, one on the ground who was fighting for his life and the other was holding the gun towards him.
You rapidly made your way to the backyard door and opened it. When the guy with the gun heard the noise, he started to run, escaping the backyard.
You yelled at the guy for him to turn back, so that you could understand who it was. But when the sleepiness wore down, you understood everything perfectly. It was Jason.
So, that meant that the person who was shot would be… Eddie. You quickly turned your gaze towards the guy on the floor. And it was him. Gasping for air, his torso covered in blood, a single tear streaming down his left cheek.
You ran to him, almost throwing yourself at the ground beside him. Your hands immediately cupped his face and his gaze turned towards you, leaning into your touch.
‘(Y/N)?’ He looked deeply in your eyes and forced a smile. It was obvious that he was in pain. You tried to keep your composure for a little bit, trying to look brave for him.
‘Eddie, Eddie you’re going to be okay. I promise baby, I promise everything is going to be alright.’
You dropped your hands and looked around for Dustin, Steve… For anyone. But unfortunately, there was no one. It was only you and him.
‘I’m sorry. Sorry for puttin’ you through hell. You didn’t deserve it.’ He hardly said while gritting his teeth. Your heart broke at his words.
‘No Eddie, none of it is your fault. This is not goodbye, you hear me? We’ll get you to the hospital and-.’
‘I love you (Y/N).’ he whispered.
And a tear fell down your cheek. He already accepted his fate and now it was your turn to accept the hard reality.
‘I love you too Eddie.’
****
You woke up in cold sweat as you heard Steve’s car roll in. You couldn’t comprehend where you were for a long minute or two. That was one of the worst nightmares you ever had in your entire life. Seeing someone you truly love die in your arms…
You heard the lock of the main door opening and Dustin yelling ‘(Y/N)! We have so much to tell you!’ If it wasn’t for Dustin, it would’ve taken you much longer to grasp the reality. It was just a nightmare, you thought to yourself. None of it was real.
‘D-Dustin! I’m here with Tews.’ you exclaimed and they followed the sound of your voice.
When Steve, Lucas, Dustin and Max came to the room, Lucas said, ‘You won’t believe what happened…’ and they all turned to Max. She looked distressed, tired and she had her headphones on, listening to Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.
While all of the gaze was turned towards her, she was trying to avoid eye contact, her arms were crossed. But eventually, she started to tell you about what just happened to her minutes ago and the others joined her, telling the story from their point of view.
****
After learning all the stuff about Max escaping Vecna with the help of her favorite song, you felt a certain comfort. If something were to happen to you, at least you knew what to do; You had to listen to your favorite song and stick to your happiest memories. When you thought back of all of the happy memories you had, there was always a certain person popping up in all of them: That person was none other than Eddie Munson.
You were still debating on whether to tell the others about your symptoms or not when all of you heard a knock on the door. It was Nancy and Robin. When they saw Max safe and sound, they felt a wave of relief washing all over them.
After everybody catched up on the latest news in a detailed manner, you finally filled everyone in about Eddie. How you couldn’t reach out to him and that it has been a couple of days since you guys last saw him… That you missed him and that you were worried about him. And finally, they all agreed to go to the shack to look out for him.
****
A long car ride after, you were finally at the shack. But there was a problem: Police cars were everywhere. Your breathing started to fasten at the sight that was being displayed right in front of you. You all momentarily froze, trying to understand what was happening.
Steve was the first one to get out of the car and seconds after, he was followed by you. As soon as you got out of the car, you saw Jason, all wet and wrapped up in a blanket. He was talking with one of the police chiefs.
You instantly turned to Steve, only to find out that he was looking at you with worry in his eyes. You returned him the same look and your eyes went back to Jason. Still talking with the chief, he felt your eyes on him and fixed his gaze towards you. You’ve never been fond of him -although he didn’t know that- and all this ‘hunting’ thing and the nightmare you just saw, were not helping the situation.
After locking eyes with him, you politely flashed him a little smile. He didn’t know you were close with Eddie and you thought that you could use that to your advantage. Talking to him could’ve helped you understand where Eddie was. You quickly returned your gaze towards Steve and mouthed ‘Go and leave him to me.’
He said ‘No I can’t leave you with this guy.’
You quickly moved to Steve’s side and whispered to him so no one else could hear you: ‘He shouldn’t see Dustin and Lucas. Don’t you remember what Lucas said?’
‘...What about you?’
‘He doesn’t know I’m close to Eddie and I have a plan. Don’t worry, just drive somewhere safe and be alert in case he calls.’
‘On it.’ He turned to the car and opened the door, putting one foot in.
‘Oh and Steve?’ He turned to you.
‘Yeah?’
‘Come pick me up 15 minutes later.’

After Dustin said, ‘That’s what we’re gonna find out.’ he started to give a speech about bravery and courage. ‘Guys, I know this is going to be tough but we have to stand tall and overpower the supreme evil: Vecna. We just have to make plans and act accordingly if we want to learn more information and conquer his throne… SO WHO’S WITH ME?’
No sound. You were all looking at each other, trying to calculate your chances of winning this war. In the meantime, Dustin was looking at all of you with wide eyes and open arms, waiting for someone to say something. You could see the expectancy in his eyes. As you were still looking around the room, he became more frustrated. He turned to Steve and said,
‘Steve, you’ve done this THOUSANDS of times. You saved our lives and risked yours over and over again. I’m asking you to do it one more time.’
‘...’ Steve was hesitant. He knitted his eyebrows.
‘AW C’MON MAN!’ Dustin shouted and wasted no time, turning to Eddie:
‘What about you, the almighty dungeon master?’
‘Dustin… you know I’m a wanted man, right?’ Eddie replied. Dustin was growing impatient.
‘Max?’ He asked to the girl next to him.
‘Nope.’
Lastly, he turned to Robin.
‘Robin, sweet Robin. I know I can always count on you… right?’
Robin was looking around the room, trying to act like she was clueless. When she heard her name coming from Dustin’s mouth, she turned to him and said ‘What? I’m sorry I wasn’t listening.
Only then, Dustin snapped.
‘No guys COME ON. You’re joking right? You have GOT to be joking !’
After seeing his crazy movements and the way he was strolling furiously around the room, Max started to laugh, she wasn’t able to hold her composure anymore.
Dustin turned to Max, not being able to comprehend anything. ‘What are you laughing at!?’ He said, his voice cracking in a funny way when he highered the pitch of his tone. Unable to stop laughing at how funny he looked, Max said ‘I’m sorry-’ and continued to laugh a little more.
Becoming more angry than ever, Dustin stopped his little stroll and walked in front of Max. He looked at her straight in the eye… then pulled a strand of her hair. He was acting like he was in a huge fight but it was more like a scene you would normally see in a comedy movie. When Max started to yelp in pain, Steve yelled ‘Hey HEY HEY!’ and stepped between the two of them. He pulled Dustin away from her but he was still trying to get a hold of her, squinting his eyes and mumbling some words under his breath while pouting.
Steve grabbed his shoulders and steadied Dustin, telling ‘Henderson, HENDERSON STOP. We were just messing with you. Of course we will fight whatever this is, together. And I gotta save your ass a couple more times because you clearly can’t.’
‘Also, what the hell was that? Apologize from Max, dude. That wasn’t cool. Like, super not cool.’ Steve shook his head in disapproval, being overly dramatic the way he always did when it came to Dustin.
Dustin turned to Max, hands clasped together in front of his body. He was looking at the ground and he sighed, ‘I apologize Max.’ He was looking like a guilty little cat, with his tail between his legs. All of you were laughing at the view in front of you now.
‘Sorry Dustin, what was that? Couldn’t hear you.’ Max replied with a grin on her face. She already heard what he said but she was just enjoying the moment.
****
You were now in Steve’s car with the others, except Eddie of course. After the little prank they did to Dustin, everybody thought That it was better to divide into two groups: Nancy and Robin were going to go to the local library to find more information while Max, Dustin and Steve were going to the school's guidance counselor in hopes of finding a reason to Chrissy's murder.
While they were sorting out the groups, you asked ‘Hold on, so Nancy is going to help us too? That's awesome!’ You liked her and more importantly, Steve liked her. You knew he had a crush on her from the beginning and you always teased him about it. You were now doing the same thing, looking at Steve with a smug smirk on your face from the rearview mirror. When he heard the excitement in your voice and saw that silly little smirk on your face, he couldn't help but to put a smile on his face. Oh by the way, Dustin liked to tease him too, like a lot.
‘Steve loves Naancy, Steve loves Nancyyy…’
‘Okay shut up Henderson.’ He was already done with Dustin’s nagging. He hoped that Dustin would shut up but on the contrary, you listened to Dustin saying the same thing over and over again for the rest of your ride home. At least the ride wasn't that long.
When Steve got closer to your house, he slowed down and asked: ‘You sure you don't want to come with us?’
‘I've got school work to do but I'll catch you guys later. Good luck!’
And after all the good goodbyes, they drove off and disappeared into the woods.
****
The thing you said about school work was actually a lie. After the nightmare you saw last night, you wanted to be alone. You didn't want to go back to your house but you had nowhere else to go. So, you gathered all your courage and now you were standing in the front yard. All the memories you had in that house, the good and the bad came rushing into your head. But it wasn't like what you feared. It was more like a sweet, nostalgic feeling.
As you opened the door and took a step in, you finally understood how much you have missed the place. Everything was perfectly in its place. There was even a little layer of dust covering the surfaces of the objects you had laying around in your house. You quickly climbed up the stairs, rushing to get inside your bedroom.
When you opened the door of your bedroom, you felt this big wave of nostalgia hit you like never before. Your favorite stuffed animal was right next to your big, fluffy pillows and after the night you stayed in the shack with Eddie, you definitely needed a comfortable bed to sleep on. It was getting dark and at that moment, all you ever wanted was to sleep in your bed, surrounded by the feeling of familiarity.
You immediately switched on the lights, opened your wardrobe and grabbed a pair of pajamas. You then closed the curtains and started to change; you sat on your bed and untied the lace of your shoes. While you were trying to get rid of your shoes quickly, you heard a voice calling your name.
It was a low-pitched man's voice and it almost sounded like a grunt. ‘(Y/N)’ he said. Hearing the tone of his voice sent shivers down your spine. As your mind started to wander whose voice could that be, the deep voice called out your name once again. It sounded like it was coming from downstairs. So you slowly put down the pair of shoes you had in your hands, got up from the bed and without hurrying, you made your way to the door of your bedroom. You reached for the handle of the door. Once your fingertips touched the handle, the lights in your room started to flicker.
You’ve experienced shortage or other electrical problems before but this was nowhere close to your older experiences. While the lights were still flickering, you thought of opening the curtains to check if your neighbors were having the same problem. But when you took a step back from the door, the lights started to flicker wildly and a voice called out your name again. But it wasn’t the same deep voice that you’ve heard a few seconds ago. It belonged to your mother.
Her sweet, silky voice was now coming from just outside of your bedroom, behind the closed door. You turned to the door and slowly grabbed the handle, waiting to hear more from her. You felt like your mind was playing games to you but at the same time you were trying to be as cautious as possible because there was something off, clearly. Although you thought you were dreaming or worse, seeing yet another nightmare, you were fully conscious of your actions and you were able to feel the coldness of the metal door handle.
‘Honey, my hands are full! Please open the door for me so I can get insiide!’ She sounds so real, you thought to yourself. What if it’s all real? What if she’s right here, behind the door?
While you were deep in thoughts, you didn’t make a single move or a noise. You heard your mother’s voice once again, then again and again. Each time, she was growing more frustrated. You were able to tell that by the sound of her voice. Then she stopped talking.
And the deep manly voice started to talk again: ‘(Y/N), you can’t escape from your past. It’s time for you to face it!’ With that, the lights started to flicker one last time. All the flashing and confusion made you feel dizzy and your head started to spin. You turned your back against the door and you slowly collapsed to the floor. You were on the verge of crying when suddenly, you heard your mother’s voice one last time.
This time, there was no sign of that sweet little voice you heard earlier. It was now filled with hatred and disgust. She was calling you names and saying verbally abusive things to you… Just like the way she used to do back then.
‘You are a fucking coward (Y/N). YOU HEAR ME? YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN. You are NOTHING but a disappointment in our eyes. Don’t you EVER forget that!’
And just like that, you were crying. Crying from fear, confusion, sadness. But it was mostly anger. All this time, you tried to remember the happy moments you had with your parents before the mall fire but the bad memories always overcame them. You tried to remember them as good people but the way they acted towards you, the pain they left you with always seemed to stick, no matter how hard you tried to forget. Of course you loved them but… There was always going to be a ‘but’.
As the voice kept getting louder and louder after each word, you started to cry even harder. While you were on the floor sitting, you brought your knees closer to you and slightly lowered your head, keeping it between your legs. You were shaking your head, yelling ‘No, no, no, no, NO!’ repeatedly. You wanted to escape but it felt impossible.
****
After the horrible hallucination or whatever it was you had last night, you woke up on the floor with a terrible headache. You tried to remember what happened after you started to cry and yell for help but you couldn’t seem to remember anything. I probably passed out, you thought to yourself.
You got off the floor, quickly went to change your clothes and went downstairs to get a painkiller. You didn’t want to dwell on last night but it was haunting you, you needed to tell someone about it. Or would have they thought that you were going crazy?
You tried to leave these thoughts behind as you walked out of the house and started to look around for your old trust-worthy bike. In hopes of being able to distract yourself, you hopped on your bike and headed to Wheelers’ house. You thought of spending alone time with Nancy as she was one of your closest friends.
But to your surprise, Steve, Dustin, Max, Robin and Lucas were there too. When you knocked on the door, Mrs Wheeler opened it and greeted you with her charming usual smile. At first she was surprised to see you but she welcomed you sweetly and let you in. While you were making your way to Nancy’s bedroom, Mrs Wheeler asked if you had your breakfast and said ‘If you hadn’t, feel free to join us! I’ve made some pancakes and I know you’ll love ‘em!’ You kindly declined her offer and passed by the kitchen. As you were passing by, Mr Wheeler saw you and he sighed loudly, saying ‘Great! Another kid!’
You acted like you didn’t see nor hear him. He was always in a grumpy mood so it wasn’t anything unusual. You were thinking about what he said, so clearly there were others inside. You were still walking when suddenly you saw everyone gathered around Max in the living room.
Her face was more pale than usual, it was as if she saw a ghost or something. She was telling a story, one that made everyone go silent. They saw that you came but none of them made a noise. Nancy made a quick small move to you to come and sit with them silently. And you did as she wanted.
Max was trying to appear as normal but it was obvious how frightened she was from the way she was acting. You knew her for some time now and whenever something bad happened to her, she tried to hide her feelings the best she can and tried to look stoic. You wondered if she finally decided to open up about what she had been through after Billy’s death but she was talking about something else: About her death.
****
A few minutes passed and you started to understand what was going on. Also when Max finished telling her story, they made a small recap for you:
After they dropped you off, Steve’s group went to Ms. Kelley’s house and Max tried to talk to her about Chrissy but she was so strict about students’ confidentiality so while she was distracted, Max took the keys to her office and ran back to Steve’s car. After a small ride to the school, they broke into the office and looked at Chrissy and Fred’s patient files. After investigating a little, they found that Chrissy and Fred were showing the same symptoms before they were found dead.
Until this point, everything seemed somewhat normal but after this, things were starting to get stranger. When they found the same information on both of the files, Max said that she started to realize she was having the same troubles as they did. Constant headaches, a (preferably) fresh trauma, seeing weird hallucinations, trouble sleeping etc.
When you heard her say those things, you started to feel tense. You were having the same problems as they have had too. But Max wasn’t done talking so she continued and you didn’t say anything.
After they found the information they needed, she said that they started to pack their things in order to leave the office. As they were packing, she claimed that she heard a voice. A deep, manly voice calling her name. She said that the source was coming from the hallway and the others seemed to not care, so she left the others and went outside alone to look at what was happening in there. When she got out, she heard a noise -she quickly made an imitation of it for you to understand it better- and saw a big ancient grandfather clock at the end of the hallway. The same voice called out her name once again.
Then suddenly, she stopped talking. Her eyes began to get watery, she looked like she was in pain. She was trying so hard to be brave, that was very typical of Max but was it really necessary in a situation like this? It almost seemed impossible to you.
After steadying herself a little, she looked at each one of you in the eye. She was having a hard time trying to find the right words. Later, she explained the timeline of what Chrissy and Fred went through and when exactly those things happened to them. Lastly she said, ‘I don’t know how much time I’ve left but looks like I’m gonna die tomorrow.’
Everyone was devastated and none of you seemed to have an answer nor a solution for her. Your heart was breaking. You could’ve done anything in your power to save you from this curse but you were not able to do anything at that moment. None of you were.
And it was time for Robin and Nancy to share the news that they had. They said that they looked at old newspapers and searched their headlines about supernatural things happening around Hawkins. They claimed that they searched through them for hours and finally, they found a headline with Victor Creel in it. Turns out they’ve read the article and thought that this man could be very helpful. He was also the guy Eddie’s uncle mentioned in a previous interview she did with him, Nancy stated. He said that Victor used to do the same thing to his previous victims and that she had to find a way to talk to him. And she added that Robin and her thought that he was the only person who could’ve helped them, even though he was a cold-blooded serial killer.
‘Isn’t he locked up somewhere?’ Lucas asked genuinely.
‘Yes, in a mental asylum to be exact.’ Robin stated.
‘Uh how are you guys going to-’
‘We’ll find a way, don’t worry about it.’ said Nancy.
****
After the discussion, everyone was now dealing with other stuff: They were either spending time with Max, trying to spend time with her and not leave her alone in case something happened to her or they were making a plan to reach Victor Creel.
You felt really sorry about Max, but you couldn’t help but wonder about your own situation. You were afraid, confused and you felt all alone but you didn’t make a sound because you simply didn’t want to draw any attention to yourself when Max’s situation was far more urgent.
Deep in thoughts, you heard a faint noise coming from under one of the couch pillows. You simply made your way over to the source of the noise, not sure if you were seeing one of the visions again. You slowly flipped the cushion over, trying to be as careful as possible but you saw a walkie talkie under it. You sighed in relief as you took it in your hands. You were waiting for another noise from the person who was at the end of the line.
‘Henderson… Wheeler? ANYBODY?!’
It was Eddie. From the sound of his voice, you could tell that he has been waiting for an answer for a long time. He sounded really frustrated and annoyed. You wondered how long he has been trying to reach out to one of you guys. So you wasted no time and touched the button to speak up.
‘Eddie hi, it’s me.’
‘Ah, (Y/L/N), my personal favorite last name out of all the others I’ve been saying.’ He said with a gentle tone. Then quickly added:
‘For the PAST COUPLE OF HOURS.’ and continued, ‘You guys are coming, right? I’m kinda short on supplies here and I’m on the edge of having a mental breakdown because of staying here all by myself.’
‘Also, I missed you… like a lot, actually. Aand if you ever get a chance, please say hi to my guitar. My baby must’ve been so lonely.’
‘Okay easy now, Munson.’
‘First of all, we are kinda dealing with a lot right now and it could take a while for us to come to you. Also it would be better if we explain it to you in person. Other than that I missed you too and unfortunately I can’t go anywhere near your guitar because the inside of your trailer is considered a crime scene, you remember that?’
‘Uh I KNOW, goddammit!I just want to show her to you.’ You giggled a little at how cute he sounded when he was frustrated.
‘I will meet her someday Eddie, I promise. Don’t worry about it now, okay? Just be safe.’
‘Okay now that I have your promise, I don’t want anything else. Although I can have a 6 pack. I know it’s not the best time to drink beer but-’
‘Just stay inside and we’ll try to come as soon as we can, okay? I’ll try to grab a 6 pack for you but I can’t make a promise about this one.’
‘Eh, I tried. See you soon, sweetheart.’
‘See ya Munson.’
****
After your small talk with Eddie, you gathered everyone together and said what he wanted to say to the others: He needed a food delivery soon and wanted you guys to visit him. Although he wanted you guys near him, the others have already made other plans. Nancy and Robin were going to go to the asylum to talk with Victor Creel and Steve was going to babysit the kids. They left it up to you whether you wanted to go to the asylum or not.
You were really worried about Max and wanted to spend time with her if these times were going to be her last. With time, pain brought you two closer, because of the mall fire. You tried to talk to her about her feelings and be there for her but she always had this barrier between her and the others. Though you always made sure she knew that you were there for her and she appreciated it no matter what. So you stayed with Steve and helped him babysit Dustin, Max and Lucas.
While you were staying at the Wheelers’, you had no clue about what was happening to Eddie.

What to Expect: Eddie Munson x reader, Reader doesn’t believe in supernatural things before she does, Detailed story telling about reader’s trauma and a nightmare that is connected to it, Eddie comforting and taking care of the reader, Really sweet moments with Eddie and more. Oh and also the usage of the nickname 'Sweetheart'.
Spoilers below cut, you have been warned!
After Dustin ran away, he came back just as fast and said, ‘Okay as fun as it was, we have no time to lose.' and continued,
'So about Hawkins being haunted; What I’m about to tell you can be a little difficult to understand…’ He said and told you all about the 'Upside Down' and the demogorgons, a little girl with superpowers etc. It was difficult to understand, like he said. You never believed in supernatural things before.
Eddie was handling it better because he experienced one of those supernatural-murder things first hand. Though he was still confused about the monsters since he didn't saw any involved in Chrissy's murder. Not that he could see any, at least.
After Dustin and the others finished explaining what was going on, Robin lastly said 'Look Eddie, (Y/N), I know they sound delusional right now but trust me, they've experienced it before. More than once actually. Like, a LOT.' She was speaking faster now, the way she did whenever she was talking more than she should have. 'I've experienced it before too. Theirs was more smokey, dust related and mine was more in a human-flesh typa thing but... yeah.' She stopped talking with a small smile on her face, understanding that she had to shut up from the way Steve looked at her.
****
You and Eddie asked some questions that you wanted to ask about this strange parallel world. After your little Q&A session ended, you started to brainstorm about Chrissy's murder. From what they have told to the both of you, some dots finally started to align in your head but you guys were nowhere near to solving this case.
After a few minutes, Eddie and Dustin started to talk about D&D. They were talking about a character named Vecna and its curse. Turns out Vecna was a strong character who did curses on the D&D players' characters and 'It' was famously known by all the players. All of you except Dustin and Eddie were confused about why they were talking about the game right now.
But the more they talked about it, the more similarities there were between Vecna and whatever invisible creature you were facing at that moment. So, they decided to name the invisible murderer after that game character, Vecna.
When the talking came to an end, everyone was tired from all the adventure that they had today and it was getting late. Eddie and you were still talking about the news that you have just learned. The rest of the group on the other hand, started to grab their belongings. They were ready to go home and get a good night's rest. When all the others gathered around the door, ready to walk out, Steve said 'Hey (Y/N), you're not coming?'
Ever since you lost your parents, you didn't want to go back to your house. It didn't feel like home anymore and it brought you nothing but sadness. After that mall fire, you spent the night at your friends' houses. The ones who allowed you to stay at their place changed from time to time since you couldn't have crashed at their place for too long; It wouldn't have been appropriate. You knew you had to go back home and face the truth but you didn't feel ready yet.
'I can't go back to Ashley's house again, I've been staying over at her place for 3 days already and I haven't had a chance to talk with anybody else. Can I stay with one of you guys tonight?' You asked, feeling a little ashamed.
Without leaving others a chance to talk, Eddie asked:
'Why don't you stay with me tonight? I know it won't be the comfiest night of your life but I don't wanna stay here alone with my own thoughts.'
You turned to him and calculated your option. Staying the night with Eddie actually didn't sound like a bad idea. Sure, he was a wanted man and there was no bed in the shack so it was going to be uncomfortable. But you were going to be alone with him, it was a perfect chance to get to know him better. So you said, 'That's a great idea, I'll stay with you.'
The others were surprised at how fast you were going but they were also really happy. You had this crush for months now and you two were finally spending time together. And him having an interest in you too was a cherry on top.
They were a little worried about you staying in the shack though; Jason could've find both of you and you could've gotten into trouble too because of Eddie. Although they were worried, they respected your choice and promised to bring you guys some food for tomorrow. Then, they left.
Once they got into the car and disappeared into the forest, you started to look around. There was nothing but boat related stuff in the shack, obviously. But you were looking for a little pillow or an extra blanket. Once you understood that there were none, you turned to Eddie. He was watching you all this time, with an amused expression on his face.
'What are you doing?' He asked.
'Looking for something ...comfy to sleep on.'
'In this shack? Good luck finding it, sweetheart.'
That nickname he just called you made you blush. You didn't want to give in so easily but it was hard. You turned to him, trying to look annoyed. 'There's gotta be something we can do. What about we take some pillows from Reefer Rick's place?'
****
After you sneakily took two pillows and a big blanket, you went back to the shack. You two were like ghosts, you didn't make a single sound while going in and out. After you came back to your hiding place, Eddie turned to you and said,
'Okay so tell me about yourself.'
'What do you wanna know?'
'Hmm... like how was little (Y/N) in middle school?'
You chuckled at his question, wondering why he asked this out of all the others he could've asked. It was a sweet and caring question though, so you liked it. As you started to think about all the memories, it felt like such a long time ago. And it was actually. But you didn't want to grow up. You didn't want time to pass quickly. Especially right now.
After you told him all of your stories, the good and the bad ones, it was his turn. He told you about how his head was buzzed and he was in a band group. Then, he told you about the talent show that they took a part in. Talent shows have never been your thing so you couldn't remember that day. He helped you remember it by giving you a little theatrical show. He told you about the magician guy with the bunny, mimicking to get the bunny out of the black magician hat.
Eddie was so good at acting and he absolutely knew how to lighten up the room with his charm and funny sense of humour. You were cracking up while he was giving you a show, even he was laughing at himself for being this silly. You were having an amazing time. Then he continued with a talented girl who painted a little amazing canvas and the cheerleader team. He did a little move, copying the moves they made during their performances. Then he remembered Chrissy.
His playfulness was now replaced with an emotionless expression. He was looking at a distant view, deep in thoughts. You immediately went next to him, looking at the same direction. You were standing side by side now, looking at the sky which was full of stars.
'Look Eddie, It's not your fault. None of it is your fault.' You said, placing a hand on his back, occasionally moving it up and down to reassure him. Eddie didn't want to look you in the eyes. 'Maybe I could've done something to prevent it...'
'No don't do this to yourself, please.' You forced him to turn to you, to look at you straight in the eye. 'You couldn't have known what was right, we still don't know what 'Vecna' truly is and what it wanted from her... You could've gotten yourself killed, Eddie.' You said, feeling the tears beginning to form in your eyes.
'Hey hey hey, no I'm right here. C'mon now c'mere.' He said, almost in a whispering tone while opening his arms widely for you to hug him. You closed the distance between the two of you, waiting for a moment for him to pull you in closer. After his hands found its way down to your waist, he wrapped his arms around you and you laid your head on his chest. The feeling of his arms around you, squeezing your body lightly made you feel safe. It was a really beautiful and comforting feeling you have never experienced before, not like this.
You stayed like that for a while until Eddie broke the silence by saying 'As much as I'd like to spend the whole night cuddling like this, we better get some sleep. You never know what tomorrow holds for us.'
****
Before going to sleep, you and Eddie had trouble figuring out where you should sleep. Since you two only found one blanket, it wasn't going to be easy. But you also had another problem. Like what if someone came to the shack looking for Eddie in the middle of the night? You sleeping on the ground wouldn't have caused any problems since people didn't know that you two were close. Also sleeping on the floor would've been more comfortable than sleeping in a small boat.
And also neither of you wanted to take things faster than it should've been. You had so much time ahead of you, right? So, Eddie was going to sleep in the boat, the boat cover was going to be on top of it just to be safe and you were going to sleep on the floor. He gave you the blanket and helped you form your little 'bed'. After that, you laid down and he kneeled beside you, placing a small kiss to your forehead.
'Goodnight sweetheart.'
'I love that nickname.' you chuckled, feeling the burn in your cheeks and the butterflies in your stomach.
'Goodnight Eddie.'
****
Some hours went by while the two of you slept peacefully.
Then, in your dream, you saw your parents. They were waving at you, calling your name. They looked so happy and …alive. You thought that it was real. That you were there, with them. As the time went by, you understood that it was a memory. A memory from your middle school times actually. It was the first day of middle school, you were so excited to go back there and hang out with your friends. You have spent an amazing vacation and you wanted to share it with them.
It was a beautiful sunny day, the sun was shining brightly in the sky. You were getting ready as your mother called you from the living room saying ‘(Y/N), come on honey you wouldn’t want to be late to your first day of school, right?’ You said: ‘I’m coming mom!’ and rushed outside, with your backpack on your hand. Your mother helped you get into the car and your father started the engine. It was nice to have them drop you off at school. You felt safe with them.
After a short amount of time, your father parked the car in front of your school and all of you got out. You were so excited, ready to go to your new class. You grabbed your backpack and your mother helped you to put it on. When you were all set, you started to walk towards the main door of your school. You were halfway there when your parents shouted at you, calling your name saying ‘Have a nice day at school (Y/N), we love you so much baby!’ You turned to them and saw that they were waving hands, looking happier than ever. You returned the smile and waved at them before going in.
And your vision started to blur, your sight becoming worse. You couldn’t see anything because of the smoke that was covering your vision. You started to understand where you were: in the mall, during the goddamn fire. There was smoke everywhere and all you could hear was the sirens of the ambulance and the fire engine. You were searching for your parents, trying to look everywhere but it was impossible. It was getting harder to breathe and you thought like you were being strangled. After a few seconds, you saw a fireman running towards you. He looked so worried and he yelled ‘I’m here okay? I’m going to get you out of here as soon as possible!’ You were a little relieved but you were still worried about your parents. Although you were struggling to get oxygen, you were shouting: ‘MOM! DAD! WHERE ARE YOU?’ You kept repeating to shout until you felt like your lungs were burning…
‘Mom, Dad…’ you were murmuring in your sleep. It was obvious that you were seeing a nightmare. Eddie started to hear your voice as it kept getting louder and louder. He immediately jumped out of the boat and ran next to you. In the process, he accidentally hit his foot on something, something rigid. He couldn’t see what it was because there was no light. He cussed to himself, saying ‘Shit shit shit.’ But thanks to that little accident, he was now fully awake.
After he sat down next to you, he saw that you were shaking. You were sleeping in a place where a ray of the moonlight hit you, illuminating your face. There were little beads of sweat on your forehead and you were squinting your eyes, hard. He was in a shock but he knew he had to hurry. So, he grabbed your shoulders and started to shake you slowly. He didn’t want to make a wrong move, that's why he was acting carefully. As the time went by, your voice kept getting louder. ‘MOM, DAD!? WHERE ARE YOU!’ He started to shake you firmly now. ‘(Y/N), Wake up! Wake up (Y/N), wake uup!’
And then, you woke up. For the first few seconds, you started to look around the room, trying to figure out where you were. You were still shaking a little, eyes wide open and mouth agape. Eddie was still holding your shoulders, trying to ground you. You were close to a wall so he grabbed your pillow and put you in a fowler’s position. When your eyes finally met, you felt relieved.
He was talking to you in a soft tone, almost whispering: ‘It’s over now (Y/N). You’re here, I’m here. You’re safe with me.’ And urged you to come closer to him. Once again you closed the distance between the two of you, hugging him tightly as if holding him loosely was going to result in him fading away. His long, untamed hair was on your forehead, mixing with your sweaty hair. You wanted to stay there, like this, in his arms for as long as you can. You thought that he was going to back away to give you a little space but he didn’t. He held you in his arms and you nuzzled up against him.
When you finally came to your senses, you started to talk slowly, your bottom lip trembling: ‘I saw this nightmare before. It literally haunts me and I can’t escape it.’ You were now sitting in front of each other, looking at each other’s eyes. He gave you an understanding look, his eyes observing your face.
‘You were screaming ‘Mom and dad’ repeatedly, I don’t wanna cross a line but would you like to tell me what happened?’
‘If you want to, tho. No pressure.’ He said, trying to look nonchalant in case you didn’t want to talk about it.
‘No, it’s fine. I will tell you about it.’ you said and told him all about that day. When you finished telling the story, you also added ‘I’ve been having these ongoing headaches recently and occasionally I’ve been seeing the same nightmare. But I don’t remember experiencing it this badly before.’ You lowered your gaze, you were now looking at the blanket. Your hands were on top of it and without realizing, you started to play with your hands like you did whenever you got anxious.
‘I’m sorry (Y/N)...’ He said, frowning.
You quickly added: ‘That’s why I’ve been staying at my friends’ house for some time now. Going back home makes me aware of the reality we live in -as if I ever get a chance to forget- and rubs the harsh reality in my face.’
‘I understand.’ He said, unable to form any convenient phrases. Instead of turning this into a therapy session, he abruptly said: ‘Well, I am not going into that small boat again! I’m going to sleep here, next to you.’ He was never good at comforting someone or talking about feelings. His coping mechanism was to use sarcasm and that pretty much explained everything. No one really expected anything from him when it came to reassuring someone with the help of using words. He tried to keep things light hearted and as playful as possible, trying to distract the person from their own dark thoughts.
‘But what if they see you from the window?’
‘Let them, I don’t care. You need me right now’
‘Aand I refuse to go back to that boat, folding in half just to fit my ass into that small space.’
And when he saw that you were smiling again, he felt warm inside. Seeing you all miserable when you were having that nightmare was one of the worst things he had to experience but it was now all in the past.
He immediately stood up and went to get his pillow, running funnily just to make you laugh. And it was working, you were laughing. All the sadness in the air slowly disappeared and both of you were grateful for that. After he got his pillow, he quickly returned to your side and you scooted over to give him some space under the blanket. For a second you two remained still, not quite sure what to do with your hands and all of that.
‘Uh, this is kinda awkward isn’t it?’ Eddie said. ‘Like, what are we supposed to do now?’
‘Well, we could cuddle if you’d like..’
‘Ah yeah sure.’ he said quickly, in an awkward-Eddie way and turned to your side. You two found the most comfortable position to cuddle and after a few seconds, he started to play with your hair, running his hands through it as you both slowly drifted off to sleep.
****
When the morning finally came, you felt the warmth of a ray of sunshine on your face. You slowly opened your eyes and saw Eddie sleeping right next to you, having a peaceful little smile on his face. As you were yawning and getting ready to say good morning to him, you heard the door of the shack opening loudly.
You immediately freaked out and saw some figures standing on the doorway. You were ready to wake up Eddie when you saw a figure approaching inside. Turns out it was Steve. He yelled ‘FOOD DELIVERY’. At that moment Eddie literally jumped on the floor and instantly tried to cover himself with the blanket, not making any noise. After his drowsiness went away, he understood that it was Steve who was yelling like crazy on a peaceful morning. ‘Ah, what beautiful a way to wake up!’ Eddie exclaimed, his voice filled with annoyance. It was probably the crack of dawn, he thought to himself.
‘Hey! Morning sleepyheads.’ said Max while getting inside, holding a paper bag full of snacks. ‘Heyy..’ you said, still having that raspy morning voice. ‘You guys know what time it is?’
‘It’s 13.46.’ Dustin stated, checking his watch. Eddie and you were both shocked. You guys said ‘What?!’ at the same moment, earning a laugh from the others. ‘Guess you got a good night’s sleep guys’ said Robin, unaware of all the shit you went through in the middle of the night last night. You managed to say ‘Yeaah, right..’
****
After you two had a breakfast -which was dry cereal- ; Robin shared the news. She said that the police were definitely looking for Eddie and that there has been another murder just like Chrissy’s. They said the murdered guy’s name was Fred Benson and that he used to be a member of the school’s newspaper team. ‘What does Vecna want from highschoolers?’ You asked genuinely. None of you seemed to have an answer to that but it was obvious that there was a connection. One that you couldn’t figure out for now.
And Dustin said, ‘That’s what we’re gonna find out.’ confidently.

Your favorite song
[chapter one] [chapter two] [chapter three] [chapter four]
Summary: When Vecna’s curse affects you, someone who doesn’t consider himself as a hero outside of D&D comes to save you with his amazing guitar skills, playing your favorite song to save you from it.
Author’s Note: Heavily follows the plot and contains spoilers! If you haven’t watched S4 I wouldn’t recommend reading this fic. Maybe you could save it for later? Also I’m in LOVE with Eddie and wanted to do something angsty and fluffy at the same time. This chapter is a mix of both. The summary is for the entire series. Also the fic is in a normal font if any of you have problems reading smaller fonts.
Word Count: 4049
What to Expect: Reader x Eddie Munson, mutual pining, reader is talking about a past trauma (losing her parents), friendships, heavily contains reader’s flashbacks about Eddie and the others, Steve and Dustin being the comedic relief duo, Steve being jealous of Eddie and calling him a douche, Eddie is kinda traumatized, Reefer Rick's Shack, Eddie being cute, reader is kinda shy BUT things take a turn.
Spoilers below the cut, you have been warned!
Ever since Nancy and Max started to find more information about Vecna’s curse, you felt uneasy. You had this strange gut feeling that something bad was going to happen to you because you were showing the same symptoms as Chrissy and that nerd newspaper guy before they died tragically: Constant ongoing headaches, having experienced some sort of trauma, sometimes seeing weird hallucinations about that tragic event…
You actually didn’t think about it much at first because you were having a hard time connecting to reality. After losing both of your parents during the mall fire, you couldn’t accept the truth, you didn’t want to. It was as if your brain was denying to take that information as a fact. You felt as if the whole world lost its meaning and that living was useless. You were showing clear signs of depression and wanted to be alone most of the time.
Unless you spent that time with Eddie Munson.
Even though you had a lot of friends and an amazing friend group of four which contained Steve, Nancy, Robin and you. After some time, Eddie Munson, the new addition to your friend group, grew on you faster than anyone would’ve expected.
Before he joined your crew, you ofcourse knew the infamous leader of the Hellfire Club but you were too intimidated to talk to him since he was loud and he had a very theatrical personality. Your mind wandered to the time where he insulted the basketball team and the head of the team called him a ‘Freak’.
You loved how he always stood on his ground and didn’t care what anybody else thought of him. He didn’t mind being called a ‘Freak’ just because he liked playing a fantasy game a little too much. He was also a metalhead and you admired his style from afar.
He was aware of your presence too; You always made eye contact whenever you passed by each other in the hallways or when you were both in a crowded room, you would always search for one another and lock eyes, smiling. There was this tension between the two of you and as much as you didn’t want to admit this to yourself, you had a crush on him.
It was actually obvious because of the way you would blush whenever he looked at you and the way you’d break eye contact very fast because you get easily overwhelmed by how he looks at your pretty (e/c) eyes. He had this grin on his face whenever he caught you looking at him and you adored that stupid little grin of his.
He had a huge impact on you and he was aware of it basically because you sucked at hiding it. But he thought it was cute. That you were very cute.
The first semester went on like that and during the spring break, Chrissy’s unexplainable death shocked everybody in town and Eddie went missing. You knew he wasn’t capable of doing such thing and that he probably had nothing to do with this murder. But you understood why he chose to run away, Brent and his team wouldn’t have listened to a single word he said.
Even though you ‘knew’ he wouldn’t have done such a thing, you didn’t know it for sure. Other than staring at each other, you both didn’t do anything. Not even a single ‘Hi’ has been said.
And you were determined to change that. You wanted to speak to him and tell him that everything was going to be alright. You wanted to show that you cared for him. Maybe you were going a little too strong with this ‘little' crush but you didn’t care.
The day after the tragic death of Chrissy, you were hanging out with Robin and Steve at their workplace. There were new customers going in and out. Steve was trying to find a new girl to go on a date with and almost all of his tries were a fail. You and Robin loved to make fun of him about this topic because he was so desperate. It was nothing harmful tho, he was one of your best friends.
He finally thought that he met a pretty girl who is single but she said that she was going to watch the movie Steve recommended with his boyfriend. Oops, no luck again! He was so close tho, you thought. After she left, Robin started to laugh out loud and Steve rolled his eyes telling:
‘Haha Robin! SO funny. Hey (Y/N) why don’t you shut her mouth up and let me focus on my next target please, thank you.’
Robin was still laughing. A few seconds later she finally catched her breath and said,
‘Why don’t you try going out with the first person who walks into the shop? Maybe you’ll find THE one!’ sarcastically.
Steve wanted someone, anyone to date but was he actually down this bad? You didn’t think he would accept Robin’s challenge but after looking at you with desperate eyes, he turned to the glass door of the movie shop and started to wait. You and Robin looked at each other with amusement in your eyes and you locked your gaze to the door too.
After a few seconds, you saw Dustin rushing to the door. You could tell that he was in a hurry and that he was worried because of the way he acted. You always liked that kid, he was such a goofball but a genius at the same time.
Then he opened the door, yelling ‘Steve! Robin! (Y/N)! We need your help.’
Remembering what Robin said to Steve, about the one walking through that door being the one, you and Robin started to laugh hysterically. Steve looked at you guys yelling ‘C’mon give me a break!’ He then turned to the ceiling, opening his arms to the sides saying ‘What have I done to you?’ with a confused expression and furrowed brows.
Dustin said ‘What, not happy to see me? I know you’re lying Harrington.’
He then wasted no time and ran straight to the computer, rolling on top of the cashier counter. In the process, he knocked some of the movies and tapes to the ground. Max followed him shortly after. Robin yelled ‘Hey! We just stacked them. What’s going on with you!?’
‘As much as I’d like to chit chat with you guys Robin, we don’t have any time for this!’ The three of you were looking at him with such confusion, he understood that he forgot to tell you the reason why he was acting in a rush.
‘Look, this is important, okay? Just help us find Eddie.’
After you heard the name Eddie, you instinctively rushed to Dustin’s side, looking at the computer. You thought that the kids in the Hellfire Club already knew where he was but turns out, even Dustin was clueless. You began to worry about him.
‘Dustin, what do you mean you don’t know where he is?’ you asked, looking straight into his eyes. He knew that you had a crush on him, most of your friends knew it.
‘Look (Y/N), I don’t wanna scare you, but we have to find Eddie before Jason and his team if we want him to be safe. So let’s just focus OKAY?’
He was now going back and forth with rapid movements, shaking his head from side to side. His eyes were wide open.
‘EDDIE PLEASE TELL ME YOU FOUND A GOOD HIDING SPOT OR I SWEAR TO GOD-’
‘WHOA WHOA whoa, Henderson calm down!’ Steve yelled. Dustin was clearly panicking. Steve grabbed him by the shoulders and started to shake him.
‘Earth to Dustin! Dustin? DUSTIN! That douche must be alright.’
‘Who are you calling a douche? It’s because you’re jealous Steve admit it-’
‘Guys, GUYS! Come on, we don't have any time for this right now.’ you exclaimed and you turned to Max.
Max was holding a paper which had a list of names written on it. You asked whose names those were. She said that those were the names of the people who could’ve known where Eddie was. You were a little relieved that they found some important information but you had to start looking for those people immediately.
After hearing Max, Robin wasted no time and directly jumped to the seat behind the counter as she started to look at some of the clients’ rent history to get a better clue. You all started to brainstorm and after a short time, you finally found a lead: Reefer Rick.
****
After a short ride with Steve, Max, Dustin and Robin, you finally found Reefer Rick’s house. It was out of town, out of prying eyes. Best hiding spot for a drug dealer.
You didn’t listen to any songs while Steve was driving the car. All of you were anxious and worried about what was to come. The tragic death of Chrissy was unnatural. The way they described the state of her body made you think that no human being could’ve done it, let alone it being Eddie. But how did it all happen? You were going to find it out really soon.
When you stepped out of the car, Dustin was already giving you flashes to use while searching up the house for a sign of Eddie. You first went to the house, trying to look inside through the windows. There was no sign of a living being in there.. You were so sure about Eddie being here that you didn’t even consider not being able to find him. You were beginning to lose hope.
That was until one of you found another perfect hiding spot just at the back of the main house. It was like a small but not so tiny shack. You had to look inside the shack. Then Steve and Robin opened the door by force and all of you gathered inside. You guys were looking everywhere for a sign.
After a brief time Steve grabbed an oar and with its back, he started to poke an old little boat which was covered with a boat cover. He was being a bit harsh so Dustin tried to stop Steve from doing it because what if Eddie got hurt? Well, Steve didn’t care about his protests and continued to do what he was doing.
While the others were still searching, you felt hopeless. You thought that you guys had cracked the code and you were one hundred percent sure that you were going to find him in here. But I guess I was wrong, you thought to yourself, deep in thoughts.
Then suddenly the cover of the boat lifted up and you saw Eddie. In just a few seconds, he was pinning Steve to the wall, making him stuck between the wall and himself while holding a sharp broken bottle to Steve’s neck. Dustin started to yell at Eddie, begging him to drop the sharp object.
While all of these were happening, you were in shock. Dustin was the only mutual friend that they had and he was a great negotiator, so all of you decided that it was best if Dustin did the talking.
‘Eddie, EDDIE! STOP. IT’S ME, DUSTIN!’
‘STEVE DROP THE OAR! Look this is Steve and he’s not gonna hurt you. ’
‘LOOK HE’S NOT TRYING TO HURT YOU I SWEAR, WE’RE HERE TO HELP’
Eddie turned to Dustin and asked ‘What are you doing here?’ His voice was raspy and low, almost like a grunt.
‘We’re here to help, we’re on your side!’ said Robin, hoping that he will loosen his grip.
And after a minute that felt like years, he finally dropped his grip that he had on Steve and let him go. At that time, he started to be aware of his surroundings and finally saw that he had a crowd watching him. And that you were in that crowd.
Dustin started to introduce the group to Eddie. He started with Robin: ‘Eddie, these are my friends. You know Robin, from band.’ She made a little trumpet noise while acting like she was playing an imaginary one.
‘This is my friend Max. The one who never wants to play D&D.’
‘And lastly, this is (Y/N)...’
He locked his eyes with yours and you did a little wave with an awkward yet genuine smile. At that moment, your heart shattered into pieces at the sight. His eyes were bloodshot, it was obvious that he couldn’t get a good nights’ sleep for quite some time because he was always on alert. He had to be careful, otherwise he could’ve been spotted. His hair was messier than usual and he looked like he was in pain because he was hiding in that boat, folded and crippled up to fit in. He was wearing the same old Hellfire Club t-shirt and the clothes he had from the day he went missing.
And it was clear that he didn’t want anybody to see him like that. He didn’t want you to see him like that. But you didn’t care about his looks at that moment, you were just glad to see him healthy without any injuries.
While you were both looking deeply into each other’s eyes, Dustin had to snap him out of it saying
‘Eddie, tell us what happened.’
Eddie looked at him and the rest of you, trying to calculate whether to say what he truly saw or not. He started to slowly slide down, his back on the wall. He waited for a moment before speaking, his gaze fixated to the floor. His hands were shaking.
‘You won’t believe me’ He said, sniffing.
‘Don’t want you guys tellin’ me that I’m crazy but I know what I saw. I just can’t wrap my head around it.’
He was now sitting on the floor, his head between his legs trying to cover his face. He then lifted his head and started to shake it slowly, his hands were on both sides of his face. You could see it in his eyes and the way he acted that he was suffering while remembering that night. He looked like he was trying to get away from that memory.
None of you made a noise while you were watching him, then Max broke the silence and said ‘Try us.’
Only then Eddie looked at all of you with confusion in his eyes. His brows were furrowed and he squinted his eyes ever so slightly. And after a few seconds of silence, he started to tell you the whole story. How Chrissy was in a complete trance and he tried everything in his power to wake her up from it but he failed. Then, he said that she started to slowly rise to the ceiling and float for a minute or so before her bones cracked with a sick sound and her eyes disappeared as if they were being pulled in.
You were having a hard time understanding everything he had just said. You were trying your best to not make him feel like he was a freak for telling these but how could any of it be possible? You then looked at the others and saw that they weren’t shocked or surprised at all. They had this understanding look in their eyes. You were more confused than ever.
When Eddie finished telling the whole story, he said ‘I left her there, I didn’t know what to do so I… I ran away.’ His gaze was still fixated on the floor, not being able to look at any of you. Then Dustin kneeled in front of him slowly, saying ‘You know how everyone says that Hawkins is cursed? Well, they’re not completely wrong…’
Dustin then turned his gaze towards you and said, ‘(Y/N) you’re also new to this so maybe it’ll be better for you to sit down while I explain what we’ve been going through for quite some time now.’ His eyes motioned you to sit next to Eddie so you did what he wanted you to do. He was trying to get you close to him and if the events that were happening around you recently weren’t this strange or tragic, you would’ve flashed him a grateful smile.
‘But before the story time, let’s get Eddie some snacks from the car. He must be SO hungry. Right, guys?’ Robin said abruptly. She was also trying to get you guys some alone time. You had sweet friends, didn’t you?
As the others left the shack, leaving you alone with Eddie, you slowly went your way next to him. You weren’t quite sure how to behave or what to do. You were shocked after what he told to the group and you were scared about what Dustin was going to tell to the both of you. Was Hawkins really cursed?
As you sat down and got into a comfortable position, you saw that Eddie’s hands were still shaking, it wasn’t as bad as when you first came to the shack but he was still terrified from all the things he had experienced the other day. He felt your eyes on him and tried to stop his hands from shaking but he couldn’t.
Now, he was trying to hide them and while he was doing it, he tried to put on a brave face, just like the way you had seen him all the time. But you could tell that he was hurting.
So in order to reassure him and stop him, you took his hands in yours. He was definitely not expecting that, neither did you. But in that flash of a moment, you did it. You took his hands in yours. He lifted his face and looked into your eyes, he was embarrassed about it. Embarrassed that he was being vulnerable.
‘uh.. Hi.’ You said shyly. It was as if like you were being aware of what you were doing at that time and blood started rushing to your cheeks, making them a brighter pink color that looked way too cute. He said ‘H- hi’ as well, putting on a small and genuine smile that made your heart skip a beat. You have never seen him like this before, he looked so fragile.
You were looking deeply into each others’ eyes when you broke the silence saying ‘Look, I know things have been more difficult than it should’ve been for you and I know that we don’t know each other very well but I wanted you to know that we are here for you.. That I’m here for you.’
‘(Y/N)..’ he said whispering while getting closer to you. He was looking at your lips now. ‘Thank you, means a lot but… Why are you tryna help me?’
You tried to look at his face but you got overwhelmed by how pretty he was looking. His bangs perfectly framing his face, his beautiful brown eyes piercing through yours, the feeling of cold metal on your fingers because of his rings; He was even prettier up close. You got to see a different side of him today and it drove you to him more.
You were looking at the ground, not being able to meet his gaze. ‘Because I.. I like you.’ You said. ‘I like you and it hurts me to see you this way. Like I said I know that we don’t know each other very well but-’
While you were talking, the coldness of metal from his rings on your palm was gone. Turns out he freed his left hand and he was now grabbing your chin to tilt your head. He forced you to look at him with a gentle touch. After a few seconds of staring at each others’ eyes, Eddie suddenly made a quick move and brought your face closer to his. Your eyes shut close, waiting for his next move. Then you felt his lips on yours, kissing you. It was a gentle and sweet one, as if he was afraid of hurting you if he acted too harsh.
You were so surprised you couldn’t do anything but to return the kiss. After a few seconds, he broke the kiss and looked at your face, observing you and your emotions.
‘I thought that butthead Henderson already told you about it.’ He said emphasizing the butthead part, rolling his eyes jokingly. He loved the kid but that didn’t mean that he was a butthead.
You chuckled a little at his expressions, feeling happy that he was acting like his usual self again. Seeing that you don’t have an answer, he continued to talk.
‘I.. I like you for quite some time now and I thought I made it pretty obvious. At least that’s what they told me during our D&D sessions.’
‘They made fun of me for not having the courage to talk to you but, I’m glad you did. I didn’t want you to be labeled as ‘the freak’s girlfriend’ or something.. Not that I care about what they call me but-’
‘I don’t care about it either Eddie, I like you a lot and nothing can change that.’
He had the cutest smile on his face after hearing you say those words. He looked relieved and happier now, despite the things that has been going on lately.
You were smiling too, probably like an idiot.
‘Robin tried to leave us alone, probably gotta thank her when its all done.’
‘Yeah well, don’t worry about it and let’s get back to where we were, shall we?’ He said, looking at your lips and back at your eyes again, looking for a sign of consent.
You shook your head slightly but eagerly, wanting to continue. His left hand found its way back to your chin, pulling you closer.
Your lips were almost touching when the door of the shack openned loudly. Dustin was the first person to walk inside. When he saw you guys in that position, his eyes went wide and he quickly tried to cover his eyes yelling ‘Oh MY GOD, OH MY GOD! CODE RED! …sorry guys.’ but at the same time he was smirking and he winked at you guys once with the biggest smile you have ever seen on his face.
You guys broke apart and Eddie got frustrated at how you guys got interrupted but it was no surprise, he thought to himself. Then, when he saw Dustin winking to the both of you, he turned to you and flashed an amused yet at the same time, confused smile. You told Henderson about it too and he didn’t tell Eddie a single word about it? He had some explaining to do to Eddie for later.
‘A total butthead indeed.’ you said in a whispering tone, sighing. Eddie turned to you and both of you chuckled. After a few seconds, the others rushed inside, Steve grabbed the oar once again and yelled:
‘CODE RED? WHAT HAPPENED HENDERSON, TALK TO ME’ He was looking around, swinging the oar, being the babysitter he was as usual.
When he and the others saw you sitting so close to Eddie, they understood what was going on and they all started to share a knowing smile.
‘So Dustin, Dustin, Dustin… You knew this fine lady had a crush on me too and you hid it from me all. this. time? …Amazing.’ He said with a low voice, eyes wide open. He was smiling but the smile wasn’t reaching his eyes.
‘Look Eddie I can explain, EDDIE-’ Dustin yelled when he saw Eddie starting to get off of the ground. He ran straight to the outside, knowing that Eddie can’t go out and risk getting caught. Eddie yelled ‘YOUUU SON OF A B-’ but everyone was laughing out loud at that point, even Eddie was having fun... You loved his smile. You really did.

"Hey," Steve says quietly, worried about scaring you.
You don't jump, you don't move. You stay sitting on the grass outside of his house, face half an inch from the floor. Your shoes and your backpack are discarded in the middle of his driveway, your backpack's zipper undone and contents spilling over the stone unceremoniously.
"Steve," you whisper.
"Is everything okay?" he asks, though he's used to this by now.
You hold out your hand without looking at him. When he takes it, you tug his arm until he gets the memo and sits down beside you.
"I think I just saw a scarab beetle."
"Yeah? What's that?" he asks gently.
"They're rainbow, 'nd shiny."
He angles his face low as yours is and looks around for it, wondering if scarab beetles live in Indiana, and if they do, will you ever be able to find it again? You must spend five minutes or longer searching blades of grass when Steve gives up and goes to put your things back in your backpack. You've brought each part of your meticulous night routine, a stark difference from last Friday where you'd only brought your toothbrush and a bracelet you'd made him. He wonders if you'll ask him to do face masks again.
"How about we leave it to its Friday night and get on with ours, huh? We'll come look for it again tomorrow," he promises.
"I think they only come out at night," you say. You're morose.
"Then… how about we go have dinner, and then we'll come back out and look again?" He can tell you're genuinely disappointed to have lost the bug and he'd do anything to make you smile, even if it means he spends the night on his knees in damp grass.
You stand up and almost fall into his side, arm wrapping around his back and smelling like grass and earth. You speak softly but with clarity. "I really think I saw one. I tried to be quiet, but… they have wings, I think. It might've flown away. I even took off my shoes."
Said shoes dangle from his hand. When you see them, you smile. "Thanks, baby," you say.
Steve shepherds you inside. "Yeah, you're welcome."
"Do you have a magnifying glass?"
He thinks about it. Probably not. "I'll look."
He's rewarded with a chaste kiss.
