Solarballs Sun - Blog Posts

I really hope at some point we get some sun angst, it will be great for all the fan artists and fanfiction authors and I’m so here for when it happens.

I've been researching the Sun recently and in doing so I have come up with some more headcannons, this time only for Sol as I have started to call him:

(might be a bit angsty btw)

Sol is very protective of his planets and will protect them against the cosmic radiation within the Milky Way, through all of his life phases, until the very end.

He witnessed the head on collision of Proto-Earth and Theia and was unable to do anything to stop it, so to stop it from happening again he ordered the planets to stay in their orbits.

He is immensely proud of Earth and his Earthlings as he is the only star with a planet that holds actual life that he knows of.

Sol definately keeps to himself despite being surrounded by an estimated 100,000,000 stars in the Milky Way alone, he wants to enjoy his planets while he still has them.

The other red dwarfs and white dwarfs in the Milky Way all feel bad when they see the younger stars with their planets orbit the Milky Way every Galactic Year, knowing what will happen to them eventually.

Sol misses his stellar siblings HD-162826 and HD-186302, he didn't get to spend much time with them when they first formed with their other thousands of siblings in the same stellar nursery.

He knows what Jupiter and Saturn did to the fifth gas giant, he agrees with their decision. The smaller terrestial planets needed to be protected from Planet X.

Watching his small terrestial planets be pummelled by asteriods during the Late Heavy Bombardment made him furious, Jupiter and Saturn calmed down after this.

Random thought here, what if the sun drove himself crazy over the reality that one day he will destroy all his planets?

It must be tough knowing that eventually you will destroy the very things you created.

Sol loves watching his rocky planets get along.

The latest episode on youtube was amazing and I can't wait to see what happens next. Hopefully we get some outer planets episodes soon, I would love to see the giants gain some more character in the future.

Here's some fun headcannons have been brewing in the back of my mind:

Earth absolutely dominates at monopoly

Monopoly has been banned from the solar system

Jupiter has and will read for years on end

The dwarf planets play hide and seek in the Kuiper Belt (they have accidentally found Neptune many times)

If Uranus wants to talk to Neptune, he asks the dwarf planets to find him (bribing them with art for their latest campaign)

Saturn definitely knits, making things for his and Jupiter's moons.

Ceres watches Mars from the asteroid belt (Mars knows this and is scared)

The rocky planets sometimes have races (Mercury always wins)

Earth is very competitive, yet Venus is the sore loser (Monopoly was banned because of him)

Sol likes to watch his planets have fun

Venus tried to chase Mercury once but he is FAST

Venus deep down loves his name

The planets actually love Sol's jokes, some of them are actually really good

So trueeee we need more!!! Honestly I really wanna know more about the Sun's past cus how he acted in that moment was pretty weird and also sad, i don't hate him for what he did to the two moons but still wasn't fair and it was a bit cruel but each of them has their own sides again so 🤷🏻

The sun knowing what it's like to speak to a bigger celestial body?? Sun lore!?

Maybe he has a bad past with a blackhole or other bigger stars? Also what's up with people saying 'I hate the sun now'? I don't think it was unexpected of him to banish them. It might not have been fair but he definitely doesn't deserve hate for it.

I feel like he has some kind of trauma of being belittled so he tries to be authoritative. Urrrghhhh I want moreeee

I saw a post from @callistosposts about how the gas giants are in our Au (this one) and I was too lazy to put it in the comments, plus it's easier to show everyone how they acted in my au so:

The gas giants!!

(also the rocky planets)

My au are in era's so proto era and appreciation era and so on so (these are all made up by me so au)

Birth era:

As the era says, this is the birth era. Meaning (obviously) that this is the timeline when they were born. And as we know, Jupiter was the first gas giant to be born. (And Mars is the same age as him :O) And the sun is also 4.603 billion years old but google might be wrong but who knows, in my au Sun will be older with a few million years.

The young giants were like kids. Jupiter is the oldest, then Uranus is the second oldest, after him there's Saturn and Neptune is the youngest. This is only about them so I'm not writing much about the interactions between the rocky planets, plus in my au the Sun also said to them that they shouldn't go too close or near the rockies yet because it's dangerous for them because they are still forming and the Sun didn't wanted collision that could've been avoided.

At this time Neptune's orbit isn't that far yet, so Uranus and him are pretty close cousins. Uranus had a closer neighbor (forgot name but the planet he collided with some time after) who's really friendly, and the three of them are really good friends. Saturn and Jupiter are like two siblings (even though they are aren't siblings remember that) Jupiter being the oldest, he has the stupidest ideas and Saturn is the one who would always do it. This is how they started to prank everyone around them, the Sun, Neptune, Uranus and even broke the most important rule of not going near the forming rocky planets. But fortunately nothing happened, which is good because the two of them would be in trouble if the smaller planets would've got hurt.

There was a new planet. A youngest of them all. He was the neighbor of Uranus and Saturn. They called him X, because there was an X like mark across his face. He hang out with Saturn and Jupiter, he took participation in the pranks and their other little ideas.

Appreciation era:

At this time, the rocky planets were fully formed. There was 7 rocky planets, and the Sun let them meet the gas giants, only if they don't get so close. The rockies loved how strong and big the gas giants were, and that they could protect the solar system so easily. It made the gas giants feel powerful.

The sun suggested that the planets should have their own roles this is how they got their new names and their roles. The gas giants and rocky planets got their own weapons, and learned to use them, and also how to use their symbols for the right thing. They learned how to respect each other, knowing how important each other is, the moons, the dwarf planets, gas giants, and the rockies. At this time, The Sun gave the planets and moons more freedom, they could go out of their orbits and play with each other. Tho this made them a bit more reckless, especially the gas giants. Jupiter always wanted to impress Saturn by how strong he is, And sometimes he even did very stupid things, even doing dangerous stuff. Those times Uranus had to give Jupiter a lecture even though Uranus is younger than him.

The ice giants were in peace, they hang out, played together, trained together and such. They were glad that Neptune was chosen to be the solar system's guardian. He was training hard to do as Sun said to be the guardian, he really did wanted to protect the others even if it required him to be away for a long time, his friends supported him. Whenever Neptune got hurt, Uranus and (forgotten name still the earth sized planet that will collide) would always heal and help Neptune's injuries. They had a good dynamic.

Independence era:

X took place in the pranks, even if he was the youngest, younger than Neptune, he had the most rebel ideas. And because he was acting out, and wanted move on his own, not caring about orbits, and the solar system, it inspired Saturn and Jupiter to be like that too, and the 3 of them wanted freedom. They wanted independence. They created tiers. Gas giants = high tier. Rocky planets = medium tier. Dwarf planets and moons = low tier. And of course, the Sun= top tier. They marked their tier with paint. Red is high tier, blue is medium, green is low and orange is top tier. There were tiers between the moons too. The main moon's symbols and tiers were painted in gold, the others' were painted green, low tier.

The gas giants used their tiers to gain power, and appreciation from the others. They gained respect from others, it gave them incredible power over others around them. The mess had started when X, the youngest planet of the 5 gained more attention from Saturn. It made Jupiter furious, jealous.

Proto era:

As the 3 main planets gained more power and place to be the leader, the more the lower tiered celestial bodies feared them. It was known that the planets had crushed, thrown smaller planets, asteroids and moons out of the solar system. The first time they learned to respect the 3 gas giants, especially Jupiter. Because he was the one who crushed the planet, Mars's neighbor, Pantheon (i don't think that it's name but excuse me with it i only know Vulkan and Thea who i can name). The rocky planets were shocked, scared, seeing how easily they could be crushed by the gas giants. So they stayed in place. In their orbit, not mentioning anything to Sun about the missing planet. When she asked they only told him he disappeared and didn't know where the missing planets went. It was also very known that the main gas planets ate smaller rocky planets too. Well.. not X. Even though he was the biggest leader of them, he loved the rocky planets. He adored them. He hated seeing them getting hurt.

He did confront Jupiter and Saturn about their behavior, and that they shouldn't hurt them, or else who knows what the sun could do to them of she finds out. They had an argument, a big one at that. It could be felt almost everywhere in the system. Almost. With Jupiter's great gravitational force, some orbits got wacky and this is why Vulcan disappeared. Or as it really happened, got sent out of his orbit, into the sun. No one saw him, no one knew it. And also (forgotten planet name, the earth sized planet with Uranus) had collided with Uranus due to the gravity in the system. This caused Uranus' axis to be tilted forever, and also a smaller ring. There was no one else in the solar system who could heal him, so Uranus had to stay in his orbit, recovering. The Sun didn't know why they collided, or what was the real cause of the collision, she'd been told that their orbit probably crossed at one point and collided with each other.

The argument turned into a fight, with Neptune and Saturn trying to stop each other, and fortunately they did stop when the Sun had noticed them and the gravity change in the system. She quickly stopped the two and had them grounded(lol) in their orbits, forbidden to talk or get near each other until they don't learn to not get too close to each other and learn how to control their emotions maturely(?). Meanwhile, Gaia and Theia had collided, it was predictable because they did share an orbit and they would just collide sooner or later..but it was still sad.. Gaia was shy, rarely talked, but very nice. Theia was an extrovert, kind and friendly. She wanted to be friends with everyone. Uranus wanted to try and heal them, but the Sun didn't let him, telling Uranus that he still needed to rest, and that the two rocky planets had to recover naturally.

X didn't understand this. He thought that Theia and Gaia had collided because of Jupiter. He broke the rule that Sun set for the two. He went over to Jupiter's orbit, successful avoiding Saturn who was watching over the two because Saturn was in her orbit. X was furious, Theia was very dear to him, he loved talking to her and Gaia and hearing that they collided with each other was heart breaking for him and immediately thought that Jupiter was the one who caused it. X had caused a fight again, attacking Jupiter. Both got injured as Neptune had noticed the two fighting fron afar and he quickly wanted to stop it. X has been using his powers (the symbolic powers i was talking about wayy back), so Jupiter was pretty injured, but X had more wounds, consider that Jupiter was way bigger than him, meaning he was also a lot stronger than X. While Neptune was trying to stop the two, X had accidentally harmed Neptune too, injuring Neptune's right eye forever. Jupiter felt like he had no choice other than one idea he had.. He ejected X from the solar system forever. The gravitational impact made Neptune's orbit unstable, and more far away than it used to be, always moving further away. The Sun, once again, noticed the sudden change of the gravity in the system and looked around to be seeing two of his planets injured. As Jupiter explained, X was considered a threat to the solar system, so the Sun made Neptune's job to never let him into the system ever again. Saturn was sad when she heard that X has been ejected from the solar system, bit understand it that he may have been a really big threat consider that he did hurt Jupiter twice and Neptune once. Saturn really loved X deeply, and was sad that she couldn't had tell him that sooner. After a while, Uranus could heal the two wounded planets, tho Neptune did got blind in his right eye, where X had hurt him.

Awareness era:

The sun trusted his planets, so she let them out of their orbits more often, it wasn't so strict, just don't get too close to each other. But after what happened with X and the many rocky planets, Sun had decided that it would be best if the planets rarely ever went out of their orbit.

As they had to stay in their orbits, the Sun grew bigger, and warmer, causing Venus' life to slowly die out from climate change and runaway green house effect. It made Venus devastated, he loved his life and did everything to keep it alive, he didn't even dared to get out of his orbit that much, fearing that his life would freeze. Mars' core had cooled down, meaning his gravity got weaker and he couldn't hold his atmosphere strong enough, making the water on his surface to evaporate away. Mars knew how sad and horrible Venus felt about loosing his life so Mars tried to comfort and be with him as much the Sun let them.

Soon, a new planet formed from the remains of Theia and Gaia. Earth, with a moon, Luna. The planet was the one who gained consciousness first, with a thick atmosphere and many asteroid rains. They were quickly friends with Mars, hanging out a lot. Once the little moon had got conscious too, the two acted like siblings, always bickering and arguing. But that settled with time.

As time goes on, the tension between the gas giants and rocky planets eased, as they got a long lecture about the whole things that had been going on and now the tiers they had once created faded away mostly. The rockies did got scared from time to time, but this lessened with time. Tho the trauma between the moons and their planets never heals fully. In the not so long ago past, moons were like trophies, like a accessory to them. The more you have, meant you have the better gravity. Saturn was the one who had the most moon, with a stunning 146 moons. Or.. 147. As said, there was a smaller moon. Chrysalis. Chrysalis was a moon close to Saturn, it seemed like she was the only moon who was treated woth respect after the whole situation like that. This made Titan jealous. He hated seeing only Chrysalis get the attention and respect that all the other moons had been craving. Titan had made the decision to take advantage of the smaller moon's wobbly orbit and once they were close, he flung Chrysalis out of her orbit, going closer to Saturn than what was safe. Sadly getting crushed by the gravitational pull of the bigger planet and the moon remains made the beautiful rings they know today. No one knows, just Titan. Just Titan and no one else. Titan knows what he had done was wrong and it came from his own insecurities, but he still didn't wanted things to turn out like this.

contemporary era:

The Sun had made his rules less strict, bit he was still sticking to the don't go out of your orbit rule, as it was really important, knowing that collision could happen very easily that way.

Tho All of that is in the past now. Earth had gained life, intelligent lifeform at that. Neptune had gone insane but the presence of Uranus and sometimes the dwarf planets had kept him in check. The gas giants are much friendlier now too. And the planets were at peace with each other. Tho the same could not be said with the moons.. as we know by now, they are still treated like objects, so as the solar system trial goes on, i can't say more to this.

SMALL CHANGE!

It's not that big of a change but i kinda figured out how i want Venus' and Earth's symbols be

Venus: so originally i wrote Love for Venus, but now that i think, it's kinda the same, so: he's the prettiest or the most attractive of them (gotta have a more good looking design for him-) so just like his name means he's really attractive, and there's a thought in my head that he can use that attractiveness like sirens just not woth his voice, more with looks. So mesmerizing other enemy planets and such

Earth: i originally wrote nature, so this stays the same, just writing more into it: so they have the power to create and destroy any kind of life on anyone's surface, i still don't have a lot for this, i think this will change through time but i don't have a good idea yet, plus if anyone has a good idea and wants to tell me please do in the comments or just ask and i will obviously credit you because it's not my idea and i don't want to take credit for it.

About the moons: they would have multiple meanings and duties to do, like keep axis' in place, have their host planet in their designed orbits. Tho some planets in the past did use their moons as trophies, like 'look i have this many moons' and 'my moons are the strongest' . The symbols were labels in the past, and ot really showed what tier you are. If you were a rocky planet then you're in middle class, if you were gas giants & ice giants then upper class (this goes to their moons too, just they are still lower than their planets) if dwarf planets then lower tier, even the non spherical moons were considered lower class. The sun was the top tier, the ruler of the solar system, also the creator of it. Sun didn't had any intentions of making the past solar system toxic about their labels, but at the start Sun didn't do anything about it because she thought it didn't cause any harm (yet). But once X was ejected, Vulcan had disappeared (died) and the planet beside mars was also crushed. I'm not saying the Thea and Proto's or Uranus' and that planet's collision because they were predictable, or at least to the sun. He knew if Thea and Proto would share an orbit, they would collide at some point. The Sun had to take matter into her own hands so he made everyone drop these tier's and labels because it's making the whole system corrupt, tho this did took million's of years to get where they are today. The labels are still around, but not as much as on the past. Now most of the planets, dwarf planets and moons don't care about the labels, as it is a toxic thing they created in the past.

Just a quick note about my Solarballs Au

Like there are the planetary symbols so i thought, the sun is the source that can make the simbols charge, so the planets could use them. But if the sun dies the planets can't use their symbols anymore. The stars symbols are also needs to charge, and that comes from the black hole in the middle of the galaxy.

The planetary symbols makes them better at something, or symbolism something like:

Mercury: speed, he's the one who sents put mails to everyone in the solar system

Venus: love, (i don't have for this yet)

Earth: nature (this will probably change or i don't know)

Mars: war, he's the one who fights if needed

Jupiter: knowledge, he's the most intelligent in the solar system, he knows everything

Saturn: Foresight, he can see the past (or the future? I don't know i have to look up that)

Urånus: healing, he heals anyone who's injured

Neptune: Sea, he has a triton and he's who plays the rule to protect the solar system from any planets that wants to go inside the system with bad intentions.

Remember this is only a fragment, this may change so this probably isn't final. I just wanted to write this down so i won't forget it ^-^

Sol:

When you first met sun, he was actually kinda scary

but after a while you got used to her acting a bit crazy sometimes

you got to research about him some things, and she didn't really mind it, as long as you don't come close to her because, yeah, it's kinda hot there

you shared some facts about him that you knew, and there were even some stuff he didn't know himself

as you talked more to him, you realized he was really nice! And as you guys came more friendly with each other, he started to make more sun jokes

at first the jokes were weird but some were really funny too!

later even you made some jokes and he was really happy that someone liked his jokes

Sun was just happy that there was someone was friends with her other than Mercury, and Mercury was glad to sometimes hang out with the other rockies

but, the solar flares are still very scary, especially on how big the solar flares were

you guys became good friends at the end ^-^

Mercury:

Mercury wasn't used to see earthlings up close, so he was glad to be able to talk to you

he also didn't mind you doing some research but when you told him that he's constantly shrinking, he got scared that he'll no longer be a planet and become a dwarf planet like Pluto

you had to calm him down, and you explained that he's bigger than Luna, the fifth biggest moon in the solar system, which means that it would take a really long time for him to shrink to the size of Pluto

he understood it wasn't you intention to make him upset and you guys talked more

you got to know that he's always being bullied by Venus and either Venus or Sun doesn't let him go to play with the other rocky planets

you sometimes helped him by talking to the sun and he was grateful for that

you even talked to him about how he could stand up for himself against Venus' bullying

in the end, you guys became really good friends, and helped each other when needed!

Venus:

Venus wasn't really a fond of you, he didn't really liked earthlings, especially if you needed research about him

he needed some time to get used to have an earthling machine in his orbit again

there weren't some many things that were knew, maybe that his atmosphere wasn't so stormy while you were with him

you noticed there was a lot of times when he was just alone, you tried to speak to him, hoping maybe he wouldn't be soo rude to you

at first the conversation were short, and a bit awkward too, like the basic 'how are you'? and 'what are you up to?'

but the more you guys talked the more you started to know about him

he was actually nice, he just needed some time to get used to someone new

you found out that he wasn't purposely being mean to the others, he was just being insecure after losing his life

He also made fun of Mercury because it made him seem more though then other celestial bodies wouldn't hurt him because he lost his life even though he did everything to have life

overall, you guys are pretty good friends, even though the start was a bit rocky (no pun intended)

Earth:

You didn't really had to do any research with earth so you only wanted to know more about them

But you didn't expected your home planet to be arrogant, or at least this much

At least they didn't talked as much about their life to you than they did to the celestial bodies

You noticed that they did seem pretty insecure whenever people would talk about how there are super earths and other planets that are sustainable for life

But it was understandable, the humans weren't the best life to have with all the trash they make

But it was still not right to treat others like that

You tried to talk to them about those things but they didn't really listen, you thought they would just need time to realize it

( this is before the moon revolution so they didn't really made changes in their personality yet, but after that you and Earth became good friends ^-^)

Mars:

Now that it's kinda colder here, you wondered how cold it will be in Neptune's orbit

Mars was actually very friendly he didn't mind you doing some research at all, he was used to earthling technology on his surface, so things were going smoothly

The moons were pretty weird first but you got used to time, they really are cute!

Not even Mars knew this but his Sunsets were blue on his surface and he thought this was super cool

You and Mars were really good friends

You talked to mars about earthling stuff and technology and he talked about some space stuff, it's honestly was a good match for you two

Because both of you felt comfortable with each other, you two know the most about each other, but of course with time

Jupiter:

It's been a while since and earthling probe was in his orbit but was glad he could get to know more about earthlings and in exchange, the earthlings got to know more about him!

Because you couldn't really land on a surface, you just stayed in moons orbit that isn't too close to Jupiter because he does have a strong radiation

You were honestly fascinated on how big was Jupiter in real life, and the big storm, 3 size of earth

It would been scary if Jupiter wouldn't be so kind and sweet

He talked about mythology while you did some of your research, like checking the wind speed in the storms and the storms radius, it was honestly calming than being with the rockies, they some why always had trouble with each other

You talked about how some of the earthlings found strange occurrence in the Kuipers belt that dwarf planets couldn't do and that they were thinking that there was maybe a ninth planet in the solar system

Jupiter looked paranoid at that news, so you quickly asked if there was something wrong

He just tried to brush it off, but you didn't wanted to ask more so you wouldn't make him feel discomfort

Overall that small incident you guys are pretty good friends if i may say so, same with mars

Saturn:

Saturn was beautiful, you couldn't say less

Saturn didn't seen earthling machines for so long, the only ones she could remember were the voyager ones and the first Pioneer 11, but she was also glad that she could talk to an earthling, it was a rare thing in the solar system

She was happy that the earthlings wanted to know more about her, and it was surprising to hear that she had a liquid core instead of a solid one or a gas one

You noticed that she didn't had the best relationship with her moons so you thought you would help her try to remember their names and tell interesting facts

Of course she didn't had the best time remembering but she tried her best

The moons were kind to you, well.. most of them

Titan was still scary tho, he was the second biggest moon in the entire solar system so it was kinda predictable but still not expected

You and Saturn remained natural but overall friendly

Uranus:

It was cold out there

Uranus wasn't used to earthlings in his orbit, the only one he saw was astro dude(?) and Voyager 2

This meant to you that there were many things that humanity didn't know about the coldest planet

There were many facts about him that you found out while doing your research and you shared these informations with him

In fact, He's the only planet named after a greek god, Ouranus, the god of the sky, Gaia's husband or Earth's husband

It was a bit weird at first for him, but then it made him think of his name otherwise because earthlings names him after a greek god

The other thing you knew about him was that he actually had the biggest rings in the solar system.

At first he obviously didn't believe you but you explained to him why

He actually had 13 rings, but most isn't seen because it's mostly made of ice and icy rocks that aren't the most visible things in the system

And Saturn has 8 visible and overall 9 which made Uranus have the biggest ring in the solar system

He couldn't believe it, did he really had the biggest rings in the entire solar system?!

You really did boost his confidence now, so he was quite thankful

But you guys did remain neutral, but still friendly

Neptune:

What's an earthling?

Yeah um.. he doesn't really know anything about earthlings

The only probe that went past Neptune was voyager 2, and he didn't even remember that

Tho he was a bit weird and orbiting him was also Unusual because how in the earth did he change his shape?!

Yeah, all of was weird, you thought it might be just because the light of the sun didn't reach this far that much so you thought the light was bugging you or you're just so insane that you not only imagine planets talking but you're also imagining that they are changing shapes

Yeah you're completely insane

But! Neptune was extremely kind and was glad that whatever the earthlings were, they still wanted to know more about him

Neptune had the highest wind in the solar system, it wasn't a big thing but it explained why the storms on him never stayed as long as on Jupiter

Neptune was very supportive and again, very nice, just like his moons

Triton was a bit skeptical about an earthling doing research but settled down once he understood why you were doing this

The mini moons were extremely cute and was fun talking with them

Neptune overall was very supportive and kind, his very friendly

Now you were completely know that you should take your meds
