i know at the moment the episode with dot and her mom hasn't aired but i'm losing my mind over the direct contrast of her and liko's family dynamics. i'm reading a lot into the episode preview right now so my thoughts might change later but like, it is itching at my brain and i need to ramble about it
(i watch the subtitled version so spoilers ahead for episodes that haven't been released dubbed yet!!)
liko has pretty distant family, her grandma is usually off doing god knows what adventuring (she wasn't even going to tell liko that she was leaving the brave asagi and liko & co only threw the surprise party because liko overheard her talking with friede about it!!), and while she speaks positively of her parents, it's odd that her mom isn't home at all when she's with her dad in one episode, and that her mom doesn't come to see her off - her mom said herself that she wants liko to make her own choices and her teaching style is pretty hands off, but it's still a pretty bold move, even with the threat of the explorers around. i don't think this is an unintentional side effect of the curse upon all pokemon parents where they have to be okay with the child protagonist going on a wild adventure either, because horizons has an honestly large focus on family dynamics (including the found family on the brave asagi), and hell even delia expressed more concern for ash's wellbeing. and like... that one shot of her family walking away in the op?? in direct contrast to roy sitting happily reading the ancient adventurer book with his grandfather?? lol
not to say that liko's family don't care about her btw, they do, they're just incredibly hands off and there's a huge focus on liko figuring out what she wants to do on her own terms. (this wasn't meant to be a liko family psychology post sorry LMAO i could get into this way for way longer some other time)
on the other hand, murdock is already implied to be very attached to dot, he just respects her boundaries and doesn't want to push her past her limits too quickly. he lives on the brave asagi with her and is shown to fret about her, so that's already a pretty big difference, though not suuper substantial or anything. but then the episode 41 preview, the implication that dot has an overprotective and overbearing mother who she's uncomfortable with because she is trying to tell her what to do is in DIRECT contrast to liko's situation. liko has had so much choice handed to her and it seems implied that dot's mom is doing the exact opposite for her daughter.
again we have very limited snippets of this episode and the wait is UNBEARABLY LONG BTW... LIKE... MARCH 1ST... I'M DYING... but i'm really interested to see how this plays out (especially because it implies that dot fights her mother maybe at the end?? her lycanroc??) and i hope it goes a little hard on the contrasting family energy so i can make something out of that between liko and dot. because there's a dynamic to be had there where liko is able to understand closer familial connection through like, dot and murdock, while liko is able to show dot she can make her own choices and be more confident in herself - WHICH THEY'RE ALREADY DOING BTW, the rising volteccers r just one big found family that are giving liko a ton of guidance and love, including murdock, and liko and roy have dragged dot out of her shell and she's been able to stand on her own lately, IT WOULD JUST... REALLY HIT IT HOME FOR THOSE THEMES TO CONTINUE HERE...

Now that amethio has a Tera Orb, the next time he faces off against friede, they'll be equally matched right? No reason he couldn't win? Friede still has years of experience under his belt and he's a professor on top of that. If he loses, Amethio will probably spiral even deeper into his shallowy hinted feelings of inadequacy.
I'm pretty sure that mostly all of us have seen the comparison between amethio and hunter; or posts regarding it at least and I theorize that since dot and amethio have never interacted ( or at least I don't think so ) I'm pretty sure that dot will help when amethio has a mental breakdown and offer him a spot on the RVTs or smth kinda like how gus helped hunter but thats just me

Ngl after 19 seasons of Ash being fooled by Team Rocket's disguises, Liko seeing some random guy deliver a letter supposedly from her Grandma and immediately going "Yeah, this guy's suspicious" is a breath of fresh air.

I got rlly bored and decided to do that (to assert dominance as the number one amethio stan) because I've seen ppl do that with their faves and I thought I should do it with amethio too.
I've commented on a lot on a few ppls posts on Tumblr and I think they're fed up with seeing me in their notifs saying "my husband frfr" so I kinda stopped for a bit. I still comment but just with different variations like "OMG MY HUSBAND" or smth like that.

We got an interview from the artists of the second opening recently on the official PR account for the anime (translation by Dephender can be found on this link!), and I found this bit really interesting:
Q2: Which parts of the lyrics are especially meaningful? yama: One of the first parts of the lyrics I wrote has a bit that talks about "the truth of the world". I think everyone has something they pursue, and the Pokรฉmon anime likewise has both kids that have a goal or a dream they embrace, as well as kids that haven't found a dream yet. That's why I wanted to include words like "found" or that talk about pursuing something together.
The italicized bits in the quote above being the part in the video interview during which Amethio is shown! Friede is pictured in the first part of the sentence, and then Amethio is immediately shown when yama-san is talking about how "there are kids that haven't found a dream yet."
So yeah, it was already quite clear before but Amethio doesn't have a dream and what he's been doing from the beginning isn't something he is doing for himself. While his current "objective" is similar to Roy's dream (they both want to reach Rayquaza as of now), the stark difference here is that Roy's dream is his own, it's something he wants for himself, while Amethio is acting for someone else's sake and isn't chasing his own wish.
I also like the juxtaposition of Friede and Amethio shown one after another, too. I feel like this says so much about their rivalry, they stand more or less as equals on the battlefield (which raises its own set of questions but that's for another day) but their dynamics highlights Amethio's emotional immaturity in some ways. Friede is older and has something he pursues and a goal for himself, and Amethio is younger and doesn't have something like that. Friede went through a time he felt stuck and aimless but he managed to turn his life around, so I wonder if that's something Amethio will learn too (through Friede or other circumstances).
Anyway, given how it's stated that some characters don't have a dream yet, I wonder if they will depict Amethio eventually finding one. The series is about "finding" something important through adventure, after all.

im betting with my life itโs NOT a coincidence.
My theory:
Lucius has a friend (explorers leader??) with those eyes and he used the triangle in his outfit like a symbol of their friendship/alliance but then Lucius got betrayed by that friend.
Itโs definetely shown, that Amethio IS important for the story, if Liko looks pretty similar to Lucius, i wont be surprised if Amethio looks similar to โthe friend of Luciusโ.
This is why both Terapagos and Rayquaza looked pretty angry with Amethio - they recognise similarities with friend-traitor of their beloved trainer in him.
Im so happy that my favourite character is important to the story god dammit finally it happened
