Gopher tortoise!!!
why are cheetahs not technically big cats? is it just because they're weird as hell or do they not meet some big cat criteria?
so the thing about Big Cats is that they’re all closely related members of the genus Panthera!
because they’re all part of the same lineage, they share a lot of traits like the ability to roar.
and cheetahs are actually members of a completely different cat lineage altogether, the genus Acinonyx!
they’re not very closely related to the big cats at all and are actually most closely related to Pumas, which you can totally see if you stack them up next to each other and squint really hard.
it’s okay though, the cheetah can still be the biggest cat in our hearts :’)
(not really trying to be nosy but I wanna know where most of byler tumblr is 😭)
idk why I even put antarctica 😭
Grand Prismatic Spring, United States: The Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park is the largest hot spring in the United States, and the third largest in the world, after Frying Pan Lake in New Zealand and Boiling Lake in Dominica. It is located in the Midway Geyser Basin... The bright, vivid colors in the spring are the result of microbial mats of thermophilic bacteria around the edges of the mineral-rich water. Wikipedia

My first wood burning. It is for sale so if you are interested just message me an offer : D
No, because I'm actually pissed about this shit.
I'm (sadly) an American citizen, which means that throughout my kindergarten (and possibly first and second, but certainly not third, fourth, and all after) year, every morning, we would do the Pledge of Allegiance. This was very normal for me in my early school years, except some very odd things I just learned today.
I'm currently being online schooled, I was in my history class and the topic of religion in schools came up. From what we were told, most private school are allowed to do religious practices, such as praying, public schools are not. It then got me thinking, if public schools aren't allowed to do religious practices, why is God even mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance?
I never even remembered the damn thing until today, and it was so random. I was curious though, so I asked my teacher. She told us that the Pledge of Allegiance never had anything to do with God up until it was added in during The Red Scare. She even said that yes, most if not all, schools do the Pledge, but they allow people to not participate, whether it was because of the God part or not...
We were never allowed to not participate in the Pledge of Allegiance.
It got me thinking deeper. How many people have to stand and do that shit who are extremely uncomfortable with it? In fact, I had a friend in kindergarten who had recently came in from China, none of us understood religion at all at the time sure, but that means none of us were aligned by a religion, unless we were forced into church by parents. Besides, this friend was Chinese, why should she have to do the Pledge, it's not her native home and she was too young to fully understand that she even moved so far from home.
What about my Native American friend? Sure, I knew her when we didn't do the Pledge, but if she was moving public schools due to doster families, she surely would have done them at some point. Why should she have had to do it? She didn't know anything of God as far as I'm aware, not to mention that she's Native American, she has no reason to respect this place, because whites took the land from the Native Americans. So, was she too forced to participate?
The mere thought of this kind of things feels unconstitutional, to be honest. After all, that's forcing a belief unto an knowing victim who's too young to even understand half the words in the Pledge and is even removing free will, because if a kid doesn't want to participate, they shouldn't have too, but my school didn't give us a choice... it just feels very, very wrong.
Focus on a small portion of the Milky Way, above Canadian forest, August 2019, showing North American nebula and part the Cygnus constellation. Taken with Nikon D750, 50mm, ISO1600, 10s. I did not have a tripod, it was tricky to keep the camera still.
"Canadian robins are the birds that say, “Tweet, eh” and smell like Tim Hortons donuts."
The American robin (Turdus migratorius) is one of the most recognizable birds in North America. It is a thrush in the thrush family (Turdidae) and a close relative of European blackbird (Turdus merula). It is also a symbol of spring in the United States and Canada, as its return marks the end of winter.
Alien invaders socially engineering society so that discussion of or belief in advanced technology or aliens is viewed as signs of a psychiatric medical condition and a doctor can have an individual accused of having such a condition committed against their will to a psychiatric hospital and locked up there and drugged against their will without the requirement of any sort of trial or review prior.
Now that Trump is your President, many of you are thinking about moving to Canada. Well I say welcome abroad (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp), but first there are some things you need to know first before you become a Canadian Citizen.
1) you must be over eighteen years old
2) You must be able to both speak and write in either French or English
3) Have lived in Canada as a permanent Resident for the 4 out of 6 years before you apply
4) be physically present in Canada for 183 days or more during each of those four years.
5) filled your taxes for at least four years since the past six years as well as pay any income tax that you might owe.
6) Apply for citizenship within Canada.
You may not become a citizen if you have an inadequate knowledge in either French or English, nor can you become one if are or have recently been in Prison. Additionally, for anyone under the age of eighteen, your legal guardian(s) must apply for you and they have to be either a Canadian citizen or applying to become one themselves. However, if you are a minor, you do not need to meet the residency requirements. Finally, if you are or have been part of the Canadian Armed Forces, you may be eligible for a fast-track application process.
Note: all of the above info was gathered from here http://settlement.org/ontario/immigration-citizenship/citizenship/apply-for-canadian-citizenship/how-do-i-apply-for-canadian-citizenship/
Now the first step to becoming a Canadian is that you need to be a Permanent Resident. A Permanent Resident is someone who has been given permanent Residence Status by the Canadian government. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/about-pr.asp
Additionally, the website: “Move to Canada -15 miles http://15miles.info/move-to-canada/“ can help you see your chances of becoming a permanent resident. If you have an advanced degree, 2 or more years of professional experience, and $12,000 ($9000 USD) or more in savings, you can probably immigrate to Canada within a year. If you want a more detailed answer, take their quiz and see how good your chances are.
Now the final step to become a Canadian citizen is the Citizenship Test: a written and oral test where you’ll be asked about
the rights, freedoms and responsibilities of Canadian citizens,
Canada’s democracy and ways to take part in Canadian society,
Canadian political and military history (including the political system, monarchy and branches of government),
Canadian social and cultural history and symbols, and
Canadian physical and political geography.
Additionally, this test will also be used to see if you have adequate knowledge in either English or French. For more info on the citizenship test see here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/cit-test.asp
So to answer the question you may all be wondering, no you can’t just move to Canada because you dislike Trump. You need to actually be prepared and have a plan if you want to live in Canada.
I understand that many of you are scared, myself included since we rely heavily on trading with the US, and that you may be wanting to move to Canada, but remember this.
Trump isn’t the first, nor will he be the last. There have always been idiotic and terrible leaders throughout every nation in history. Yet despite this, many nations are still standing. Why? Because their citizens never gave up. They still believed in their country, it’s people and wished it to be the best it can be, and they fought or still are fighting for that dream.
If you are afraid of living in America either due to your sexuality, religion or ethnicity, etc, and wish to move somewhere safer, I totally understand. And you want to become a Canadian, I welcome you open arms, but I beg of you. Do not give into nihilism and abandon your country. Discrimination has and always existed. It may not always be obvious at times, but every country has its xenophobes of various degrees. Canada is no exception as shocking as that might be.
So keep on fighting for what you believe in. Even if the entire nation is telling you to move, you must stand firm like a tree and say “no, you move”.
Remember Trump isn’t America. Nor are the republicans, Hilary, the Democrats, Obama or any other politician or political party. You are America, just as we are Canada.
You are the heart and soul of America. And if you truly believe in your country, you will make damn sure that both are as bright and vibrant as they can be.
