(SPOILERS+FW WARNING!!) finally finished this woo!! i really like how it came out so please dont let this flop :[ comments are super appreciated!! lmk what your fav part is (ʘ ͜ʖ ʘ) some yapping about this under the cut!!

in the 'shes on the go' scene, with sou, its supposed to be him making an attempt to escape after the ch2 main game, when following the emotion route and keeping kanna alive. he hasnt got a collar in this scene, having previously taken it off. (thats def not me just being lazy and forgetting to draw it. def not.) i tried to make the lyrics sync with whats going on onscreen, like 'flowers for the sinking dead' gets kanna and 'with hospitals' is qtaro. for the yabusame siblings part, 'way too fast' was alice's since he, in his rage and grief over the ranger's taunting, acted way too fast and let his anger get the best of him. reko's was 'way too slow', since if she had acted a bit faster, maybe not let the fake get the knife or something similar, she may have been able to stay alive. 'shell turn to stone' refers to nao finding out she's the sacrifice, more or less bound to die or to kill everyone else. she hasnt got much of a choice, stuck where she is as if she were stone. 'somebody sighs who is not in disguise anymore' can work with several characters, but i chose kai and joe. they both in a way end up losing their disguise and have nothing better to do than sigh, knowing their fates were now set and anything they did would be impractical at best. kai lost his disguise of being a normal participant of the death game, having been revealed to have some connections with asunaro and also having been revealed to be the sage. joe lost his disguise of being the sage, having been revealed to be the sacrifice. the failure of their disguises is what inevitably led to their doom. for the end part, the joe and kai parallels, in the part with the hands the backgrounds have some significance. the joe one features sara's hand, holding the clicker given to her by miley. the background is dark, while a ring of light circles her hand. this was meant to symbolize how her action held hope, hope shed be able to save him, hope there was still something she could do, but ultimately she failed. she wasnt going to be allowed a chance in the first place, hence how the majority of the background is dark. the hope born by desperation, the light born by dark, ultimately failed and was proven to be purposeless. whereas kai's, the majority is light while the hand itself is surrounded by darkness, symbolizing how his action held despair and anguish, but was also a beacon of hope, his way of resistance and stopping the organization from taking away their freedom fully. he chose to die, on his own terms, and that action, although born from a sense of futile desperation, also gave him a chance to fight back in his own way, however measly that chance may be. ok i think im done thanks for attending my ted talk everyone, hope yall enjoyed!!

yttd voice headcannons ^@^

most headcannons have nothing to do with personality between the two characters. ESPECIALLY IN KAI’S CASE!! (im so sorry)

for sara, i really like the naturally calm inflection. she’s way too put together in almost every situation, but the scream really sold me on this voice. it has a truly anguished sound while also still fitting to an adolescent character. if i saw one more kaede akamatsu headcannon, i would flip. usually when i see voice claims, they’re all danganronpa voices, and i really just wanna leave comparing the two back in 2020.

joe, i don’t believe would say any of those things, but i really like the voice given because it truly does sound adolescent.

i’ve always imagined shin with more of a naturally monotone voice, rather than the bryce papenbrook nagito laugh i see most people use. i feel like its good for his snarky lines. i feel like people forget that he’s not some evil mastermind. he’s literally just some 20 year old.

kanna’s voice feels sweet mixed with timid, to me. i also really liked the ‘true love’ line for her. she fantasizes about romance often, so she was one of the few that i felt the lines spoken also lined up with her character.

reko reminds me a lot of ymir. they’d probably get along really well— or despise one another. that’s just how similar personalities go.

i also wanted to give nao a really youthful voice. i thought the voice cracks were fitting. (maybe im just projecting because i still had voice cracks at 19)

keiji and reiner are literally the same archetype to me, i dunno. jaded, traumatized, depressed, buff, blondes.

alice and kenpatchi have literally nothing in common, but ive always liked to imagine him with an extremely gravelly voice because it makes the fact that he has an effeminate scream funnier to me.

gin and tony tony chopper just have the same energy to me. i considered alphones elric as well, but i didn’t like the whole… empty armor echo…

ranmaru just seems generally awkward to me. he’s slightly younger than sara in cannon, so i gave him a voice that sounded younger.

ranger… i can’t explain why… but i just KNOW jerma would have the perfect voice for him if he ever played yttd. jerma has a knack for that.

miley feels self explanatory to me. just felt right 🤷‍♀️

midori, i’ve always felt has an uncanny vibe from the robotic experimentation done on his body. the dummies/dolls are all meant to replicate humanity, but midori seems like the kind of person that wants to STRAY from his humanity, so i feel he would intentionally make himself more and more like a machine.

the voice itself is kinda whatever, but i really like that robotic/uncanny effect to it.

okay, JUST HEAR ME OUT ON KAI. he’s NOTHING like shou tucker, but he had such an unsettling vibe in chapter one that i can’t think of any other voice for him. i feel like it would perfectly mesh with the general mysterious vibe of both the chapter he was featured in, and his characterization as a possible stalker at the time.

i need chapter 3-2 so bad. i miss yttd sm

shin with an espeon because he canonically likes cats. he probably wanted an umbreon to match the cat plush in sou’s room but eevee followed him to work on a day shift and evolved, but he loves his partner anyways :)

sara with umbreon because she wanted a black cat in the manga. the type matchups make sense to me with shin having the weaker matchup.

gin with a growlithe and q-taro with an arcanine would be so cuteee. they’re father and son to me idc 😭

joe with a rockruff omlll. his uniform would always be a little roughed up because he can never resist playing with his partner!!

a zorua would go so well with reko’s color scheme aaaaa. maybe having it use rain dance during live venues to preform with her!!

nao with an altaria because the artbook said she likes fluffy thingss. i could totally see her napping with an altaria. little bit angsty here, but maybe a mishima’s smergle she raises after his death

alice with a zebstrika or furret because he likes striped things. i like to imagine his pokemon would occasionally bicker with reko’s zorua, but get their ass beat every time 😭

kai would have a ghost time to freak the yabusames out like he did in ytts. maybe a sableye or a yamask, but i feel like he would look so cunty with a froslass!!

i have no reason for this one but keiji with a gible makes sense in my head. idk… i can just see him doing his best to calm down a rambunctious gible that’s chasing the other participants around.

anzu with a blacephalon because its clownlike and not as off-putting as mr mime. i don’t like mr. mime, and i also feel like it’d be an uncreative cop-out to give her.

kuramada with a primape or hitmonlee that he spars with from time to time. they have specially tailored boxing gloves :”)

mai with a fidough. no explanation needed. your honor, they have matching bread hats!! she lets her partner help in the kitchen and just prays the fda doesn’t swing by.

i imagine kanna with a sweets themed pokemon bc of her pudding bucket in ytts. maybe a milcery or alcremie. i imagine shin’s espeon has a timid nature and she has to let it slowly warm up to her and her partner pokemon.

i feel like hinako would have a giant terrifying ass pokemon, slightly due to the fact that she’s intimidating and mysterious herself. mostly due to the fact that i think it would be really funny for the shortest character to have a giant scary pokemon lurking behind them.

ranmaru is kinda gloomy, so i feel like he would empathize well with a mimikyu and they would bond in no time. his partner is terrified of sara’s umbreon and every time he tries to approach her, mimikyu panics and he gives up. poor guy :(

hayasaka with a really mischievous rotom that he cannot control is a really cute image in my head, so i’m giving him that

"Now begins the Sub-Game, the Murderer Game! I'm looking forward to the finest bloodlust." Midori say excitedly, turning his back about to walk away.

"Wait!" You call out. Everyone has a partner and you were worried that without a partner, this sick twisted so called game will kill you off instantly. " I don't have a partner- why is that?" Narrowing your eyes, you questions cautiously.

"Ahahaha! So you notice." He chuckles, "Honestly i didn't expect to see you alive this far so i haven't pair you up! My bad, buttt since you ask nicely, i will kindly pair you up with someone you used to know! Tada! here he is." As Midori grins triumphantly, a figure steps infront of him and come into view.

"Kai!?" You and your friends exclaim in bewilderment. Disbelief and speechless fills you as your eyes can't believe the person standing in front of you is your boyfriend. Alive. "I thought you were dead! I-i saw you die..." You whispers softly.

Hearing this, Midori's grins widen. Interrupting the moments, he proudly explains. "Ah, yes, your precious Kai is already dead. This Kai here is a dummy or doll like the others who will be working along with you." You feels crushed as you hears this. "[Y/N]'s Red Thread of Fate activate! Now that's settle, let get back where we left off. Shall we? I will be looking forward for your actions." With that he finally leave, leaving you flabbergasted while your red thread lasser is now connecting to Kai's collar.

When everyone has calm down and begin to ask more details from the dolls, your partner begins to introduce himself. "As you all probably already know, I am Kai Satou. I work as a homemaker."

"I am [Y/N]. . ."

You were still pretty upset about the info that you can't look nor speak to Kai properly. A doll Kai. It pains you that this is not the same Kai Satou you love so dearly and like salt rubbing into your wound, it hurt. Sensing your discomfort, he decides to leave you be as your group begin to explore the surroundings even though he feels the urge to stay close by your side.

Ranmaru suggests to splitting up in pairs to search each of the rooms again after a monster's attack and trap room. During those horrifying encounters, you become more protective for Kai intending to keep him safe and away from danger. No, not again. Walking next with him gives you a feeling of nostalgia and peace. You cant lose him again. Subconsciously grabbing his hand, Kai stiffened at your sudden touch, peering his eye down at your perfect intertwined hands but make no move of snatching it away.

He takes a deep breath, and wrenches his gaze away from your hand. His heart pounds heavily in his ears. Hesitantly he opens his mouth, hands still clutching at yours gently, he softly ask, ". . . if i am not wrong . . . we are a couple right? Before i died."

You nods and glaces at his breathtaking face. Prettier than any flowers the earth could create. You would gaze at Kai for all eternity, if you could. "Yes, we are and i miss you so so much dear," you reply sincerely with a warm smile on your face.

Heat crawls up his cheeks. “I . . . I miss you too sweetheart,” he shyly admits, squeezing your hand as you two smile at each others treasuring this precious moment before it end.
