LIKE HES SO FINE WHAT
I'm glad she found her calling as Macalors, God of Just Sauce.
Khaenriāah⦠didnāt fall, did it? Since youāre still here⦠Correct.
I felt very similarly about the story. Of course it's not unusual for the archon quests to feel unsatisfying when it comes to connecting with most of the characters, it's basically designed to introduce you to them and give you the option to follow up with their story/hangout quest later.
But yes, I definitely feel like we didn't really get to get close with the characters enough, which is ironic given all of the filler haha. I think it would be interesting if the Traveler began to question their bonds with the people they meet because of their fame, but tbh I don't think they'd really allow the Traveler to question any kind of playable character that isn't a Fatui.
Going back to your points, I agree that Natlan didn't hit the same "peak" or "hype" as Fontaine. However! It's true that Natlan made me cry a lot more than Fontaine. I'd say that Fontaine was a cool and epic story, while Natlan is about tragedy and sacrifice. While they both have a theme about hope, they approach it with very different tones. And yes, there are very sad moments in Fontaine, but I think the ones in Natlan were more relatable. That's why although the end battle in Natlan wasn't as thrilling as I expected, I don't think that it means the overall story was bad.
I also wanted to add something else that was great about the Natlan quest, the way it demonstrated the bond with Paimon and her separation anxiety. Every moment with her felt sweet and truly like we had been friends for as many years as we've known her irl. They could never get me to hate u Paimon <3
Additionally, Capitano perfectly encapsulated what somebody with a strong sense of honor looks like. It's a mixture of self-sacrificing, stubbornness, and deep respect for all life around them. I LOVE characters with strong honor, it's a trope that I'm kind of sad has faded over time. [Tbh it's kind of weird that I don't like Kazuha more, he's also a man of honor.]
Overall, I don't mind seeing harsher criticisms of the story. I could probably look back at my reactions in my servers and remember parts that I genuinely disliked, but I'd rather hear other people's thoughts. (Sidenote: once saw somebody who did a bad faith review on the final Natlan story, like...homie you had to have spent weeks of your life to get to this point in Genshin, why did you do this to yourself š they made some good points but the vibes were atrocious haha.) Like with every new region, I had a good time after the first version, especially with all of that fascinating lore!
Friendship is magic, and buddy, I could kill an eldritch horror. <- the Traveler probably
Finished the Natlan AQ and Idk how to explain it but Natlan is the only nation where I grew an attachment to the nation itself rather than any one particular character in general.
One thing I liked about this nation is that despite the fact that like Fontaine, a plan to save the nation was already in place before the Traveler arrived there, however, unlike Fontaine, it didn't make the Traveler's presence feel like a passerby or a member of the audience.
It felt like their decisions and their contributions mattered. That the praise they received by the characters and npcs in Natlan was actually earned rather than glazing the MC just to make players feel important.
I think a consequence of Natlan being so late into the game (second last to Snezhnaya) is that they needed to shove as many answers about Teyvat and start tying all the plot points together to set up the endgame, which lead to not enough time spent on the main cast of characters.
The key theme of "No one fights alone" actually feels like it means something, and they actually live up to that and you get to see the contributions of the other characters, and not just the playable ones in your final fight with the abyss. Makes your victory feel earned.
I feel like people comparing it to Fontaine shouldn't really be doing it. It's not a fair comparison cause Natlan isn't going for the same thing as Fontaine did. They're two different stories, if they just did rehash of Fontaine it'd just be boring.
Natlan didn't reach the emotional highs that Fontaine did, but that's fine because not every nation needs to be an emotional sobfest. It's okay, to have a happy/hopeful ending sometimes.
(Although ngl Capitano's sacrifice got me a little teary eyes. MY GOAT!)
At the end of the day Natlan was about humanity coming together to fight against impossible odds and finding hope to continue fighting for a better tomorrow. Which they succeeded in conveying.
People will call the "power for friendship" thing corny, but imo y'all are just miserable and bitter. Cause fuck what all of you say, cause humans coming together to support each to defeat an godlike entity is hype as hell!
Truly the shounen arc of Genshin Impact.
Hear me out. If she is, she went to Liyue to help / take care of humans and stayed there.
Enkonomiya was an absolute trove of worldbuilding but GoddamnĀ I wanna know more about Zhongliās birthĀ to know where to EXACTLY put him in there.
Like when was he just one vishap who grew stronger ? Did he know the dragon-lords ? He is several millennia old, Zhongli says that he hasĀ ālived 6000 yearsā however, he doesnāt say that he isĀ 6000 years old.
Ā It is now clear that Zhongli cannot speak of Dainsleif to the Traveler and many things because of his contract with Celestia, or else he will basically meet the same fate as Orobashi. So he could be waaaaaaay older than that.
The only thing I can know is that Zhongli was not a dragon-lord because Azhdaha calls him a usurper, which to me refers to him being the Archon after the dragon-lords were dethroned.
And now I keep thinking about the Primordial Oneās love for humanity and I keep thinking about Istaroth and how WAS GUIZHONG ONE OF THE FOUR SHADESĀ ????? She is only mentioned as the God of Dust and has fantastic technological capabilitiesĀ as she easily navigates around Khaenriāah technology.
NEVER IS GUIZHONG EVER MENTIONED TO BE ADEPTI, ONLY THAT SHE WAS HELPEDĀ BY THE ADEPTI.
IF ZHONGLI WAS AROUND WHEN THE FOUR SHADES WERE GUIDING HUMANITY AND WAS SO CLOSE TO ONE THIS GIVES EVEN DEEPER LAYERS. The layers of Guizhong loving humanity, but being from somewhere that damned humanity. What if Zhongli took more her moral priorities and developed more of a personal relationship with her, believing that helping the Abyss people would fit her morals despite the Primordial One being clearly against just everythingĀ that would want to dethrone it.
Then you got the other side. Ok. Celestia is bad. But what did they want to stop. Sure, there was a conflict of governing powers, but we do not know if there was something more that forced their hand to ultimately choose war and massacre.
I just O)-(
WHAT IF INSIDE GUIZHONGāS DUMBBELL THERE IS SOMETHING TO BRING DOWN CELESTIA OR ABOUT CELESTIA SIMILAR TO THE BOOK OF SUN AND MOON AND THE WAY TO UNLOCK IT IS IF SOMEONE BRINGS CERTAIN THINGS TOGETHER TO KNOW THE TIME HAS COME IāM.
If only I were stronger stillĀ
I played the Arlecchino story quest- it's yappin time! Or time for a kinda long post.
I'll fix the spelling eventually

More analysis! Except we're going through sequentially because that's how I remember it!
1. Lyney is the big brother to everyone in the house
The way he could talk everyone so easily was cute to see. He seems so unbothered by everyone's little quirks. Like- taking to those kids and dropping the most diabolical lore? Kinda scary I'm not gonna lie. Even if unintentionally, a lot of people look up to him. Although, there is the question of how much of his interactions are masking because he does have a silver tongue. Either way, he's definitely the ring leader.
2. Lyney is the cooking sibling
This one isn't actually all that important but I think it's cute. His big brother energy is strong.
3. Lyney hates having secrets kept from him
I think that this one is kinda ironic, but then again, it could be because he keeps secrets he knows how it feels. Also- that line about Freminet lying to him was disrespectful. My jaw hit the floor when he went "You're not like me- your lying skills still need some work." Even if it's true just damn. It's very clear though that the fact Fremi was hiding something hurt him. It seems that at moments like this his passion can be the downfall as we witness the world's most awkward argument. Which resulted in Fremi crying and I must wonder how often this happens.
4. He has the entire roster memorized.
I for one, am still not over this fact. When you ask about Clervie's name he's instantly like: Nope! Not in the roster. It's the same with Perrie. Perhaps this is just me, but that seems like a lot of people to just know of the top of your head.
5. Lynette is almost as good at stealth as Arlecchino.
When they do the first bump and Lynette scares the soul out of everyone involved made me realize something. Maybe it's a combination of her cat features and personality, but she's quiet. The way she made her entrance was so reminiscent of Arlecchino earlier and she was definitely trained in it by her. It's absolutely adorable how much she emulate her "Father."
6. Lyney's voice rises when he breaks composure.
This is possibly just because of the amazing acting of his English VA but I'd like to think it's true. So you can able this one more of a headcanon with evidence. It happens a few times, mostly towards the end but this it the first time it happens. He was so surprised by Lynette that he just completely loses his composure for a second and practically squeaks for a second. He then obviously fixes it but it's a nice moment. Later, he's just desperate but we'll get to that.
7. A lot of the stories we hear about Arlecchino are misconceptions.
This woman is so freaking scary. I just have to say it, I could feel the tension through the screen as we talked. Thank god for child because I was stressed. What we do learn from this besides the fact she's not one for conversation is that they're a lot of half truths about her. This woman would let you call her by the wrong name of it benefits her so everyone saying she's a backstabber and crazy is far from the full story. Childe got his information from the Rooster which uh- was phrased in a weird way. However, she saw no reason to really correct it, so she didn't. Scaramouche however, I'm starting to wonder if he's speaking from personal experience. He's clearly witnessed something and now I wanna know what.
8. Lyney's lying skills were definitely improved by Arlecchino.
Miss Girly is the queen of misinformation and it's clear Lyney learned from him. Like I'm talking to this woman and she's so manipulative I'm doubting myself- AND I WENT IN KNOWING THE STORY! The way she side steps and misdirects is so reminiscent of Lyney that I got deja vu. The main difference is Arlecchino is so much colder so she doesn't break easily. Lyney is an absolute softy and can break way easier.
9. Arlecchino is not fond of the other harbingers.
This is pretty clear in her voice lines and is also obvious because of her personality. However, this is something about watching her shit talk her coworkers in front of me that I'm just living for. Especially with the new plan Project Stuzha? Girly pop isn't having that shit. If she pulls up, I wanna witness this.
10. Lynette is Lyney's voice of reason.
I feel like I've said this before but it deserves to be said again because she's the second baddest bitch alive. Arlecchino is the first.
11. Lyney's angry eyes are unnerving to me.
Maybe this is just me but then is eyes narrow it makes me wanna back away. I don't know if it's because of the way he presents himself but it just gives a certain vibe. I find that vibe slightly terrifying.
12. The reason Lyney is the next king and his passion.
Now, this was a question I had ever since Lyney came out. Seeing him in the Archon Quest had me wondering why he was the next director. Then during the last part of this quest I realized something. It was like a moment of recognition. I think when he stood up to defend everyone. The way he was so determined was really touching. It's also something I already knew. In the Fortress when he charged at Wriothesley was a moment of desperation. Then here, he stands to duel the freaking Knave. He obviously knew the was no way he could win but he wasn't gonna give up with his family on the line. His passion and conviction for his family know no bounds, after all, it's how he got his vision in the first place. Every part of his character and lore just screams family man. The way he's so dedicated to the big brother role and protection those close fits perfectly for what the Knave hopes the House becomes. However, it's this same damn passion that has him disregarding his health and jumping in front of Lynette with no way to parry and his squishy ass body.
Playing the new quest was a mistake because all I wanna do is run my mouth to the freaking moon by my friends are taking their sweet time.
This quest was such a a rollercoaster and I don't care what anyone says I like it. Even if I almost cried several times and ended with a headache and a heartache.
4.1 Spoilers ahead š
I was so surprised to see Lyney- in prison that I screamed at 12 AM š
At the same time l I was pissed because BRO ALL OF THAT WORK FOR YOU TO SHOW UP HERE ANYWAYS- I was mad a him for a solid minute.
Also, this poor kid. He's so stressed right now. I knew he had anxiety but Jesus dude.
Spoily warning! 5.0 Natlan archon quest and also a bit Fontaine archon quest
So, when Capitano said "You heard something from here, didnt you?" everyone just kinda assumed he was talking to Olorun. But theres a trope of the protagonist having a dream about the villain discussing/inacting their evil plans and then the villain addresses the protag directly, seemingly aware of the protags presence. This theory is kinda half-baked but maybe its like when the Traveler dreamed of Childe in the primordial sea...
just a thought tho :p
ākhaenriāah have five sinnersā factoid actualy just statistical error. khaenriāah have six sinners. Bough Keeper Dainslef, who live in khaenriāah and hates the abyss, is a liar adn should have been counted
Siri, play "Monster," by Lady Gaga.
OMG OMG OMG, I MISSED THE DROP, BUT HOLY HELLā
HE'S HERE! At long last, Capitano is here!!
My husband has arrived!! š
Don't worry, he'll come home. Trust! š
writing this under a cut because i might spoil it for those who havenāt finished the genshin summer event main story.
this whole limited story quest was a riot, and i find it so endearing (nerdy kind of endearing) that kaveh annotates when he reads even if itās only for leisure (and i say iām endeared because i do that sometimes, too, when something in the story or the page resonated with me greatly).
of course i like this quest a lot because once again, my best husband is the highlight of the story hihihi (ą„ Ā“Ķ įµ `Ķ ą„ )ą„ kaveh was my favourite in the quest, but my favourite scene in the entire side event is this:
i love chaotic tighnari a lot ”””( ā¢Ģ į“ ā¢Ģ )Ł!!! just look at that smug smile.
