new kid! fushiguro megumi who knew that he wasn’t sure what to make of this place yet, wasn't truly sure about his new life that was begnning for him as he leaves the old one behind. that was just too honest of him.
the new house was bigger than their last one, lived-in but unfamiliar. his new room smelled like fresh paint, and his small stash of belongings were still packed away in unopened boxes. this was his new life now. this new arrangement.
his elder sister tsumiki had reassured him before she left for college. told him gojo satoru would watch over him. told him he wouldn’t be alone. that there were great kids in the neighborhood, people he could get along with.
at least, that’s what gojo said. but megumi wasn’t sure he wanted to meet them, or get to know them just yet. he was still on the fence about it, just as with everything in his life. just as with everything else that could ever come. but perhaps, he’d just have to wait and see.
new kid! fushiguro megumi wasn’t sure how the story of it all even started. somehow, he was certain that there was that quiet pull, the subtle gravity that drew him toward the space just beyond the creaky wooden fence separating his world from yours.
somehow, it was a cosmic demand. it was somehow a certain destiny being aligned by the stars. something that megumi had thought maybe only possible in movies.
and yet, as much as it was destiny, it was also his own choice. he sat there, enjoying the sun in the solitude and made that choice, that move to turn his head, and find the world beyond him grow into the words that make up the word, 'you'.
new kid! fushiguro megumi found himself watching you from afar, all of a sudden. but of course, in a proper way. in a respectful way. definitely not in a way that felt intrusive, but as if trying to understand something just beyond his reach.
he knew better than that. he knew better than to cause someone to feel uncomfortable. he didn’t want to make people around him feel rough about it. and so he was trying, he was trying to look away. he gulped. he couldn’t do it. he couldn’t look away from you.
new kid! fushiguro megumi thinks that maybe it’s the way you carried yourself with a serene grace, one that he’d never seen from anyone in his entire life before. one that he found himself admiring every little dawn of day he could see you from afar.
megumi didn’t expect you to notice him first. but you did, you happily did. but he thinks that it was easy, especially with those heavy rumbling footsteps against the mossy grass. it was loud enough, he supposed. and you noticed, you found him, like destiny wanted.
“you’re staring at me.” you said one afternoon, voice gentle but teasing. you weren’t facing him, but somehow, you still knew.
megumi stiffened, ears burning. “i—i’m not.”
you tilted your head slightly, as if listening. “you are.”
megumi suddenly felt very, very out of his depth. “sorry.” he muttered, turning away. but then he heard you laugh—soft, light, like wind chimes in the breeze.
“it’s okay, don't worry.” you said, voice carrying over the fence. “i stare too, sometimes. well, even if it's just dark. it's still something that exists in this world.”
megumi blinked, confused. you lifted a hand, fingers brushing over the petals of a flower beside you. “i like to feel things. it helps me see them.”
oh. he thinks to himself as his throat tightens.
new kid! fushiguro megumi felt something in his chest shift in that moment. before he could think too hard about it, he reached over the fence, plucking a small blossom from a low-hanging branch. he hesitated only for a second before extending it toward you.
“here.” megumi says to you in response.
you took it without hesitation, fingertips grazing his knuckles as you traced the delicate petals. “this one feels nice.”
fushiguro megumi swallowed. “yeah?”
you nodded, smiling softly. “you have a good eye. for things like this, huh?"
".....yeah, i guess so."
you hummed, almost to happily. "you're already so interesting, new kid. i look forward to you in the future too."
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who never considered himself particularly thoughtful, started noticing things. and it had made him just as bitter, just as angry. and just as eager, to do more for you.
he noticed how the world wasn’t always built for you. how uneven pavement made you slow your steps, how certain things were placed just out of reach, how people spoke to you like you were delicate, like you might break if they weren’t careful.
and he hated it. he could feel it burning in his chest, that anguish. almost like a fever that could just as easily burn everything in its path as he looked at you, still smiling.
how can you smile like that? he asks himself in the quiet. how can you still be so good to the world, when it makes you feel so alone?
new kid! fushiguro megumi clenched his fists so tightly, it turned brutishly red. he couldn't let this pass. he won't. this is isn't what you deserved. you deserved so much more. you deserved the very best. no, no. you deserved the world. you deserved to have it at the palm of your hands.
megumi wasn’t sure why it mattered so much to him. but it did. it mattered to him that you were comfortable. it mattered to him that you had all that could make your life as normal as possible. so you could live with a smile in your face, a true one.
he started small, he started from where he could. when he noticed a branch hanging too low on your usual path, he snapped it off without a word. when the neighborhood kids left their bikes scattered across the sidewalk, he quietly moved them aside before you walked by.
when the bakery down the street rearranged their display cases, he mumbled a quiet, awkward explanation so you wouldn’t have to fumble around. or when he found books, he worked hard to try and make sure he reads it for you, every little word, even if his voice was hoarse from it.
new kid! fushiguro megumi thinks that there was nothing special about it. he was only doing what he should. moving things out of your way, describing things when it seemed like you wanted to know, standing beside you when the world got too loud. it wasn’t extraordinary. it wasn’t something to be praised.
it was just normal. just expected. that’s why he never said anything about it. never drew attention to it. never expected you to notice. but you did. it was ever so easy to notice. you were blind, that’s certain. but you were no fool.
you noticed how the world seemed a little easier when he was around. how the things that once stood in your way disappeared before you could even reach them. how he always stood just close enough, just within reach, but never too close—never forcing, never assuming, just there.
you noticed how his voice, though often hesitant, carried a quiet kind of care when he spoke to you. how his words, though awkward and sometimes clumsy, were always meant to bring you closer to the world he saw.
“you move things, don't you?” you said that sunny afternoon, your tone unreadable. "i can feel it, you know."
megumi froze. “i don’t—”
you smiled knowingly. “you do.”
"you take care of things, don't you?" you murmured, fingers trailing over the petals of a flower he had left for you on the fence. "quietly. carefully."
megumi, who had been standing on the other side, stiffened. "i don’t—"
you smiled, tilting your head slightly. "you do."
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who had never been good at taking credit, looked away, scowling. he found his face as red as the scarlet sunset behind you both. he purses his lips in a flat line.
megumi thinks about how much of his life had been spent making himself feel so insignificantly small in that quiet, unobtrusive prison he had made for himself, a prison he shouldn't even be in.
almost all the sudden, megumi thinks that he felt seen in a way that made his heart stumble. in a way he doesn't think he ever thought he could ever deserve in this life. he doesn't think he's a good person.
and yet, here you were, smiling at him and telling him that he was a good person. that he was someone you appreciated. that he was someone you were thankful for, someone you cherished.
"you don’t have to....and yet....." you paused for a moment. "somehow, you do anyway."
his fingers curled into the fabric of his hoodie. he didn’t know what to say to that. so he just mumbled, "don't think too much of it."
but you reached out, fingertips brushing over the rough wood of the fence, stopping just short of his. you shake your head at him. "it is too much. it is everything, megumi-chan."
“it’s not a big deal.” he grumbles under his breath. "anyone could have done that. you know that."
but you reached out, fingers brushing against his wrist before he could tuck his hands into his pockets. he felt his breath hitch as he found himself closer to you. it was as though this moment was the first time he'd ever found himself understanding what the word spring truly means when your touch was against his own.
“it is to me.” you whispered back to him. a small smile sweeping your tender lips. "it is a big deal. because it's you.....so thank you, megumi-chan. thank you for being good to me."
he grew even redder, flustered at your tenderness. he rubs the back of his head, feeling his heart pound. "you give people too much credit! you're too nice. how are you this nice?"
you giggled at him. "but arent't you nice too?"
"am not!" he murmured under his breath, still ever so red.
"ah, you're pretty red, aren't you?"
"shut up!"
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who never cared for praise, found that your words sat warm in his chest long after you’d gone. there was that thought that maybe spring could last forever, whenever you smiled at him.
there was a thought that his day would feel complete because you were there to tell him that you were thankful that he came into your life to help him through it all, even the little things.
he never thought that your words would pull at his heartstrings in this way, playing his heart into a symphony that could only be built in the benevolent heart of someone like you. and so, he found himself addicted to the sound of his heart beating, leaping over and over again.
perhaps that is what it was, some sort of calling. this new kid on the block without purpose, found one. that was to stay by your side no matter come what may. because nothing was more addictive to him, than this feeling.
these overwhelming feelings that drown him in this eternal sea, each and every single time. he knew that, almost too certainly. and there was no escape. and he knew deep down, he didn't want to escape it. not when you smile like that. not when you smile at him, smile because of him.
new kid! fushiguro megumi started describing things more, in his own awkward way. with great detail. he knew he wasn't as good as most people in describing things. or being passionate about it out loud. but you seemed to enjoy it very much. you were smiling through it all.
“the sky looks kinda weird today. all gray, like someone smudged the clouds.” he’d say a bit dryly. or, in some rare warm whispers, “the cherry blossoms are blooming. they look like—uh, you know, pink and fluffy.”
"is it really?" you gasped, almsot too excitedly at some points. "oh, megumi-chan! what's the shape of the clouds? oh, oh! how about the birds in the sky? are they as graceful as how the documentaries say?"
he knew that wasn’t great with words, but you never seemed to mind. if anything, it made you seem contented in the warmth of spending time together, even if the words don't echo them exactly.
because if one was asking the correct things, this would be the question: what is the right words, the perfect words, when every action already blossomed the warm kindness the sun could never gift you? that's what you asked him.
and he wasn't sure at all, if he had any answer for you. instead, he lets his hand brush carefully against your own, his green-blues not leaving your misty ones. you found your lips curving into the brightest of smiles, teeth and all. megumi thinks that these smiles are the very best. these were the ones he cherishes most when you were together.
"you're good to me, megumi-chan. thank you."
"you're good to me too." he whispers under his breath, red appearing agianst his cheeks. ".....i hope you know that."
you giggled. "hm, hm. i know."
new kid! fushiguro megumi wasn’t sure when it started. when did it turly start; these feelings that were too loud for him to ignore. these rhythmic symphonies his heart composes when he sees your face, at peace under a willow tree.
maybe it was the first time you held his hand without hesitation, trusting him without question. or maybe it was the way you always seemed to know when he was nearby, even when he hadn’t said a word. he doesn't know how it all begun.
but all he knew was that he had these feelings. he had these smiles on his lips. he had these red cheeks blossoming hot. he had you, by his side letting them repeat over and over again.
new kid! fushiguro megumi who had spent almost all of his life keeping the world, the people, life itself at arm’s length slowly finds himself realizing that he was letting you in those impenetrable walls without even a single cost. he has let go without a fight.
but how could he do such a thing, when he has too much desire to keep you by his side like this? how could he find himself hidden away from you in these strong holds when he wanted for you to feel the warmth in his tone, the kindness in his touch?
it was easy to notice it in the small things, how he had utterly surrendered to you. how he started looking for you first whenever he stepped outside. how he’d listen for your voice over the hum of the neighborhood. how the air around you always felt a little lighter, a little warmer.
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who had always been good at avoiding emotions, was starting to realize—he was falling in love. so utterly, miserably, happily, undoubtly, ever so certainly in love and it was with you. always you. it was never going to stop being you.
that spring afternoon, that youthful spring that belonged only to the two of you. it was ever so beautiful. he couldn't explain it. was the tree beautiful because you were under it, or were you beautiful because you were the apple of his eyes?
when he found you sitting in your blossoming garden, your fingers lightly skimming over the open pages of the book. your fingers gently brushed itself against the tactile echoes all across the pages, the words forming through those elegant bridges of braille recognizable from where he stood.
“you don’t have to read in braille, you know.” he said, standing just beyond the fence. “i could read to you.”
you tilted your head toward him, smiling softly. “you would?”
he shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets. “yeah. if you wanted.”
“hmm, i guess.” you hummed, considering. “but do you even like reading out loud?”
he looked away. “not really. not stuff like this, at least."
you laughed, quiet and knowing. “but you’d do it anyway?”
he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “...yeah.”
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who wasn’t good at saying things outright, suddenly felt very obvious. he felt like he didn't know who this person was, being so bold as to stand before you and be so ever brave.
he could see that well hidden mirth in your glassy eyes, ever so happy to just be there with him this way. even if you couldn't see everything, you were so good at knowing the wondrous picture forming before you. you could read him, even if you couldn't see him. and he knew that too well.
you grinned at him. soon enough, you only patted the empty space beside you. “then come sit with me.”
and just like that, he did.
he always will, you know that.
that's how he perhaps, loves you.
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who never cared for the thought of happy ever after, or whatever those fairy tales say, found himself reading them to you with such uncharted passion anyway.
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who never needed the warmth of many people, found himself wanting to stay by your side. hoping for the immortality of that joy that comes from being together.
new kid! fushiguro megumi, who wasn’t sure when it started, knew one thing for certain now— he was already yours. and he doesn't care for how it ends, or how it becomes. his dream, his truest dream, was to remain by your side, smiling under the beckoning sunrise.

despite bringing you a multitude of amazing things that you were beyond grateful for, being a sorcerer came with numerous struggles, and sleepless nights weren't something you were unused to. tonight happened to be one of those, and in spite of how exhausted you are, it's as if your brain is refusing to switch itself off.
you can feel a million thoughts running through your mind. even after trying almost everything that usually helps you fall asleep, you still lie there, eyes closed, mind far too awake. now, there's only one more thing you could try.
your finger hovers over megumi's contact as you contemplate once more. you didn't want to disturb him - he had had just as exhausting a day as you had - but truly, there may be nothing else that could possibly help you avoid lying awake until you were driven to insanity. biting the bullet, you hit the call button, and it starts ringing. thankfully, megumi isn't too heavy a sleeper; he's barely ever slept through an alarm, so chances are he'll hear it. after a few moments that seem to drag out into eternity, he picks up.
"hey, you okay?" megumi asks, voice barely above a whisper, though you can hear the concern in his words.
"hi. sorry, i'm fine, i just, uh, i can't sleep..." you whisper back, trailing off. "i'm sorry, i shouldn't have disturbed you." you continue, barely audible.
you hear some rustling on the other end of the line before megumi responds.
"don't apologise. i get it." he stops for a moment. "do you want me come to your room or do you want to come here?" he asks, direct as ever, his voice rough and gravelly with sleep.
you're silent for a few seconds. "can you come here? please?" you ask softly, and he can picture you, facing the wall as you curl up into your duvet.
"sure. i'll be there in a couple minutes. see you in a sec."
a small smile creeps onto your face. "thank you, megs. i-"
but before you can finish your sentence, the line is cut.
before you know it, there's a soft knock at your door as megumi taps the pattern only he uses. it started as a silly little joke, but it has its uses - being able to tell that it's him at your door is beyond reassuring.
you are, of course, met with your beloved boyfriend as you open the door. his hair is a little flattened on top and fluffier than usual on the sides as a result of sleep, and you can't help but feel a little guilty for waking him up. he pulls you in to him, and you rest you head on his shoulder as his hands press into your back.
"don't feel bad for waking me up. i'd rather be here with you, anyway." megumi whispers, as if he can read your mind. you whisper a quiet thanks, and pull away from him, grabbing his hand to lead him to your bed. he lets you get in first, then takes up his position behind you once you're comfortable, lying on your side. he tucks his head into your shoulder and slides his arms around your torso, tangling a leg with yours.
"goodnight. i love you, angel."
"i love you too, megs."
unsurprisingly, falling asleep is a lot easier when he's there. and you know he'll come anytime you call.

Megumi would always love watching you train with Maki. But if someone accused him of that, obviously he would deny as much as he could. He loved staring at you specifically.
Do you really blame him, though? I mean, you're gorgeous. Your hair, your eyes, everything. He didn't really acknowledge that he loved you until Nobara started saying she was thinking about asking you out.
Fuck, he loved you, didn't he?
Yuji noticed it first. The way his gaze lingered on you whenever you walked away, or how you were literally the only person to make him laugh. He didn't tease Megumi about it, more like he encouraged him.
Megumi wasn't afraid to ask you out, he just didn't want to ruin the friendship he had with you. What if you said no and things were awkward forever? What if you hated him? He didn't want to let that happen.
But his feelings only grew stronger.
Specifically, when you, Megumi, Nobara and Yuji were on a misson. You all were fighting a first grade curse. Megumi was distracted. His divine dogs were barking at something else, and he was trying to figure out what they were barking at.
Little did he know another first grade curse was emerging from behind him. It was ready to strike.
In a flash, you picked Megumi up, and ran away from the curse.
It took Megumi a moment to realize what was going on.
When he realized he was being held by you, he felt his face immediately heat up.
"Phew." You sigh in relief. You glance down at him, Megumi still cradled in your arms. "You okay, Fushiguro?" You smile softly.
Megumi feels like an idiot. He stares at you, eyes sparkling and face flushed a soft pink.
He doesn't respond. In his eyes, you looked like an angel. He could have sworn that a beam of light shined down on you.
Nobara and Yuji had to defeat the curse themselves.
Maybe Megumi will get the courage to ask you out.
One day.
But for now, he'll just watch from afar.

megumi was always the type to never talk about his personal life. when the professor paired him with you for a class project, he didnt think anything off it. however, when he said “were partners” to you, he wouldnt have expected this.
you misunderstood.
thats not all.
when megumi said “partners” you thought he had meant something more, something romantic. it didnt help that he had been acting more relaxed around you, so you had thought you just missed the memo. mainly because megumi would never talk to you about his feeling. you started being more affectionate by calling him “baby” or “babe” in conversation, lesning on him more in study sessions, you remember his coffee order—not that its hard to forget. a black coffee.
megumi was confused but didnt want to make it awkward, so he kept his thoughts to himself. after all, you were just being friendly, right?
you and nobara went to the cafe near campus after classes one day, talking about everything. until you said, “me and megs are dating you know,”
nobara didnt miss a beat. just smiled and nodded, taking a sip of her overpriced latte. “oh, nice. didnt know you two were official now.”
“yeah, we didnt want to make a big deal out of it.” you replied. in reality, you didnt know, and megumi doesnt make a big deal out of anything.
nobara, remembering all the times you were lovey dovey with megumi in front of her, didnt question you at all, she was happy to accept it. you and megumi were dating.
later that week, nobara couldnt resist but bringing it up to megumi. she strolled up to his usual table in the student lounge, where he was on his phone like always.
“so, wanna go on a double date now?”
megumi looked up, confused. “i dont want to third wheel with you and maki.”
“you wouldnt be third wheeling anymore though, right?”
“wait—what?”
“yeah, yn already told me, you dont have to hide it.”
“what did she say?” megumi asked.
“that… you two are dating? she said you had been dating for a while?”
“no, thats not-“ he was cut off by nobara.
“listen. just say you dont wanna go, you dont have to hide your relationship from me yaknow? like i said, yn told me. talk to yn about if you dont feel comfortable about going, if not… then be at *random sushi place* by 8!”
nobara walks off, not being interested into talking with megumi anymore.
megumi didn’t even know how to process it all. he had no idea how to clear up the misunderstanding, and now nobara was convinced that you two were dating. he just hoped you weren’t too serious about it.
megumi just stared at the spot where nobara had stood, feeling a heavy sigh leave his chest. since nobara seemed so confident about it all, maybe they were and he just missed the signs?
megumi got ready for the double date group hang out.
it was 7:00 pm. nobara had insisted over text that he dress “decently” for this, so now he was standing here, debating whether his usual black hoodie was too casual.
he didn’t even know why he was putting so much thought into this. it was just nobara, maki, and—
his eyes flicked to his phone. you had texted him earlier, something short and sweet—although anything from you is sweet.
are you gonna come megs???
it shouldnt have made his stomach flip, but it did.
he sighed, ruffling his hair.
yea sure
“this is just a normal hangout,” “just dinner.” he thought to himself.
still, he switched the hoodie for a plain black sweater, something a little neater.
when megumi arrived at the restaurant, nobara and maki were already seated. you were beside nobara, chatting happily, completely at ease.
when you spotted him, your eyes lit up.
“megu! you made it” you said, scooting over slightly, making space for him next to you.
megumi hesitated before sitting down. something about the way you said his name made his face warm, its obviously just the temperature in the restaurant though.
(its not.)
nobara smiled. “look at him, actually on time.”
“barely,” maki added, sipping her sake.
megumi rolled his eyes but didnt argue.
he glanced at you, noting how close you were sitting. maybe it was just his imagination, but you seemed comfortable. very comfortable.
“so,” nobara started, resting her chin on her hand, “hows dating life treating you two?”
“its great!” you said before megumi could speak, smiling at them before turning to megumi, eyes full of warmth. “right, megs?”
megumi mumbled an agreement before trying to hide his red face in his hand.
nobara nodded approvingly. “figured. you guys always looked like a couple anyway.”
maki smirked. “yeah, megumis the quiet type, but we all knew you would end up together.”
he looked between them, waiting for some sign that this was a joke, but they were all so casual about it.
they actually think you two were dating.
he was going to ask you “are we actually dating?”
but then you reached for his hand under the table, lacing your fingers through his without hesitation.
his heart nearly stopped.
“hes just shy,” you said, squeezing his hand gently.
nobara grinned. “yeah, yeah. hes lucky youre patient.”
everyones entree arrived swiftly after that.
you squeezed his hand again, looking up at him like he was the best thing in the world, something in him settled.
yeah. you were his partner. you had been all along.
he just hadnt noticed.
i wrote most of this in class then wrote the other half like 9 hours later… so it might not make any sense lolol

megumi was tired.
a long day of exercising curses, all he wanted in this moment was to collapse into bed and pull yn into his arms. no barking or whining, just wuiet.
but apparently that was too much to ask for.
because the moment he wrapped his arm around yns waist, the divine dog growled.
not a soft whine like when megumi didnt bring back treats, a warning growl.
megumis fingers barely touched yns hip again before the growl got louder. his brain took a second to process it before his face turned into a scowl.
he glanced down at the divine dog, who was currently trying to wedge itself between him and yn. its head pressed against yns stomach.
yn, meanwhile,. was sleeply giggling, her face buried against megumis chest.
megumi sighed. “did you just growl at me, kuro?”
the dog did not blink or waver.
it stood its ground, its eyes sharp like megumi was an intruder in his own dorm.
yn lifted her head slightly, peekijg up at him. “theyre just protective, megs.”
protective, against megumi. yns boyfriend. their summoner.
megumis eyes narrowed. “shes literally my girlfriend”
the dog did not care. if anything, it pushed itself closer to yn, pressing its entire weight into them as if shielding her from megumi.
“you cant be serious.”
yn reached down and scratched behind its ear. “its cute.”
“no, its not.”
it was annoying, he could barely touch his own girlfriend without his own technique getting in the way.
megumi stared down the dog with the most unimpressed look imaginable. which was reflected on the dog. “i summon you, you exist because of me. you should be on my side.”
the dog blinked. then had the audacity to turn its head away.
because megumi wasnt worth looking at.
megumi exhaled sharply. “fine”
yn, still giggling, tilted her head. “are you pouting, megs?”
“no.”
megumi absolutely was pouting.
and it only got worse when kuro curled against yns stomach, blocking megumi from touching her.
yn ran her fingers through kuros fur. “guess you have to work for their trust, too.”
“i dont need their trust, i need my girlfriend back.”
kuro didnt move.
megumi sighed heavily, sinking deeper into the mattress. he should have desummoned the shikigami already, but he was too tired. instead he settled for grumbling under his breath.
reader reached out, gently running her fingers through megumis hair, scratching at the scalp. the tension in his shoulders giving away.
megumis eyelids drooped, huffing out a breath. “this is so unfair.”
“youre cute when your grumpy, megs”
megumi grumbled something unintelligible before wrapping an arm around her back—and the dog growled again.
“oh my fucking gosh.”

MEGUMI!FUSHIGURO headcannons
✫ fights with megumi weren’t exactly pleasant.
✫ you both got into some huge argument over something stupid, ending up with the both of you now walking past each other in the kitchen without saying a word to one-another.
so now, you lay yourself on the couch with your feet that’d been decorated with your favorite fluffy blue socks, above the arm of the sofa, and a bucket of ice-cream in the other.
It was about time you’d finally sit and finish a couple shows anyway, so why not take your mind off things and try to ease up a bit.
✫ megumi will definitely get tired of not speaking to one another, and try to cuddle you while you watch your show; angrily chugging the spoon in and out of the bucket.
“get away from me.” you cry out, shoving spoon-full’s of ice-cream in your mouth. Megumi watched, ignoring your plead and continued to shuffle you on top of him.
✫ somehow, you end up tangled in his touch. your hands dancing on his chest; cheek laying on his breast. His legs entangled with yours, now both of you watching some dumb rom-com that could make the both of you cringe for days.
✫ “..I’m sorry.” megumi manages to cough up; surely catching your attention. and after a couple minutes of silence, you finally responded with a quiet “me too.”
✫ cuddling with you on the couch; helping you dig left and right in the bowl of ice-cream, was just a better night then you anticipated.
eventually, the conversation sprung back but it was wasn’t anything like before. The conversation was smoother, of course, still a little rocky, it ended up with both of you comforting one another, as it should.
megumi and friends to lovers🥺 including neck kisses🥺
♡MEGUMI!FUSHIGURO friends to lovers
“Megumi..” you complained; your back pressed firmly on the bed you both laid upon, soaking in the sheets. you watch as the boy that laid next to you, your best friend, ignored you and continued to read the book your teacher had given you both.
It was a study review for the exam tomorrow; but you’d already been studying for three whole hours. You couldn’t do it anymore. “I’m so bored.” you whined; but megumi didn’t even look towards you.
“So go and do something.” He replied, bluntly. In which you sighed in dissatisfaction.
Truth is, you’d been crushing on this boy from the day you’ve became friends. The reason for this being because, when he met you, you both were much younger; and you tended to have little crushes on friends that are always there for you. no but this was different. It wasn’t just some little crush anymore. Now it was a full blown out feeling you got in your chest when you’d think of him being with anybody else.
you sighed, your lips forming in a frown. “Megumi, can we do something else?” practicality begging, but he didn’t budge. he did notice you staring at him a couple times, bored out of your mind; but all he could think about when pretending not to notice, was the cute faces you made when dissatisfied.
“Fine. C’mere.” He chatted, grabbing both of your arms and pulling you closer. He figured since you want to have a little bit of fun, but still need to get a good grade, he’d try something out. he sat up, leaning against the bed frame, pulling you in between his legs that spread open. his arms allowing you to now hold the study book in hand, as he made sure you propped up against him comfortably.
“Now we study.” He said, as if this was not a big deal at all. And maybe it was not; to him at least. You were nervous. It isn’t necessarily the first time you’d both been close like this; but it definitely felt different this time.
“But I don’t wanna study anymore-“
You were cut off by something you’d thought you’d never get from a guy like megumi. your face plastered with embarrassment; the expression giving you away, you couldn’t help but feel slight nurishment when his lips pressed onto your skin. he’d become very found of you now, leaving small but perfectly placed kisses on your neck; surprising you.
“M-Megumi what are you..”
“do you want me to stop?”
“No!”
the room went quiet; mainly because of your exaggerating tone when informing him not to stop giving you affection. In other words, you yelled. but today is full of surprises, cause he just laughed at you. He didn’t call you weird or push you away; he just laughed.
“then I won’t.” His small chuckle still wrapping around your ears, as his hands did too. as claimed, he continued to give you the sweetest, softest pecks with those glossy lips, while you read the next couple chapters of the unit aloud.
and after another hour of what felt like endless reading for you before, was just peaceful reminiscences of your favorite person, loving you.
you closed the book, turning around to face him. He was always so pretty, at least that’s what you thought. he looked back at you with a, “hm?” knowing you have something on your mind. So with all force and closed eyes, you kissed him. your lips clashed together with his; feeling a slight taste of your lotion after his mouth was all over your neck.
before even opening the crack of your lips, the kiss was over; you pulled away faster than you went in for it. Covering your face; you hid yourself from such a man.
“why are you covering your face?” He slid his hands in between yours, breaking the mask you’d formed for yourself. his hands then worked towards your checks, them resting on your jawline. His face fumed with pink of the very ends of his cheeks; though he acted as if he was unfazed.
Was the kiss unexpected? Slightly; but don’t get it twisted, he loved every little second of it.
“C’mere, do it again.”

it's a date gone wrong when you get into an argument with your aloof boyfriend. but will he save you when it counts?
genre: tw: street harassment, catcalling. hurt/comfort, arguments and reconciliation, protective!megumi and fluff !
note: i miss my emo boi :(
general masterlist
“Stay back!”
This is an utter plot twist. When you came out of your apartment today, all dolled up and ready to go on a date with your boyfriend, you never imagined you’d end up cornered by two creeps in a deserted alley.
“Easy, girl,” one of the guys in front of you cackled, lips curling into an unsettling sneer. “We’re just trying to get to know you better!”
“Listen— My boyfriend is super scary, you know!” you barked, willing yourself not to shake. “Now you better not come any closer or else—!”
“Or else what?” the other creep mocked with a snort. You gripped your umbrella—now your makeshift weapon—tightly, pointing it at him as a threat.
“Or else my boyfriend will be here in any minute and he’ll kick your ass!”
It was a partly a lie you hoped sounded convincing, because how could Megumi suddenly show up and find you in this dingy alleyway... right after both of you had a petty disagreement in the middle of Shibuya's shopping district?
Oh lord, how you regretted raising your voice and running away from him earlier.
"You are late!" you scolded him heatedly as he yawned, showing up twenty minutes later than your agreed time. "Can't you at least text me beforehand? I'll match your time if you do!"
Megumi sighed, fixing you with a blank stare as he scratched his head. "My bad. I overslept. I rushed here so didn't think of it."
It was so easy for him to say, and you would've understood if it was the first time, but you had noticed this pattern over the past two weeks. Whenever you asked him out for dates, his face always soured, and he didn't bother to be on time. If you didn't know any better, you'd think he was reluctantly agreeing.
And by this point, you thought you knew better and that was really it.
Finally, you blurted out the burning accusation: "You never realize it, but it shows, you know? You never seem happy when we go out together."
He exhaled in exasperation, green eyes darkening at you. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly that."
It seemed he had run out of patience. Standing your ground, you braced for his next words. But the glare he sent your way and the words he spat pierced your tender heart more than you thought—
"You're always nagging. Can't you stop being annoying just once? What a pain."
Perhaps he was right, you were annoying him all this time and dealing with you was a pain. You could imagine it if you were in his place, but you couldn't handle the very implication that you had done so, and you screamed at his face:
"So be it then! Fushiguro, you are the worst!"
—and ran off with tears in your eyes, deserting him altogether.
You knew you weren’t exactly a model of maturity, but in your defense, it stung deeply that he saw you as annoying and a pain. What girlfriend wouldn’t be hurt by that?
Anyhow, you loitered near the Shibuya station afterwards, and at first you heard some catcalls you didn't really pay mind to. But when those two guys started whistling and edging closer, it hit you—you were their target.
You quickened your pace, turning down several corners, only to find yourself trapped in a dead end. Just how much worse could your day get?
"Aha, the girl says she has a boyfriend!" Creep #1 snickered, turning to Creep #2 with a smirk, before pretending to scan the area. "But I don’t see him?"
"Miss, I swear we’re not up to any trouble," Creep #2 chimed in, his eyes gleaming with a predatory delight. "Won’t you be our friend? You’re too pretty to be alone—this is Shibuya, after all!" he said, eyeing your legs and whistled. "And ooh, have I told you that skirt suits you well?"
These guys were straight-up perverts!
"Get lost!" you yelled, your fingers trembling as you swung the umbrella at him when he tried to close the distance. "Can’t you just leave me alone?!"
You were at your wits' end, and it was clear this situation wasn’t going to improve with them still blocking your way. You took a deep breath, trying to steady your racing heart, and decided to do the only thing you could.
In hindsight, a stupid move—
You barreled towards the two of them with your umbrella—managing to push past them. For a moment, you thought you had a chance and ran as fast as you could—
"Ack!" —until you tripped and crashed on the ground.
You rose and immediately winced, looking down at the site where it hurt the most. Oh, you had scrapped your knees badly.
"Ahh, miss! Don't be too hasty~!" you heard the second guy's sing-song voice, and you really wanted to cry. Why did this have to happen to you?
"Don't come c-closer!" you stammered, backing away as they approached. Your whole body shook, desperately trying to think of ways to save yourself. "Or— I'll scream!"
"Whoa, whoa, wait just a minute! Why don't you just—"
You really thought you would scream, until suddenly the familiar scent of mint filled your sense and a strong arm pulled you from behind, and a broad back shielded your view from them—
"What do you need from her?" Megumi's voice boomed, his eyes glaring at the two men who had been harassing you. His breathing was ragged, as if he had run all the way here. "Fuck off."
At that moment, you couldn't help clutching his sleeve, hiding behind him further as you kept trembling. Megumi sensed it, and turned over to have a look over you—
You looked disheveled, spooked, and his eyes widened when he saw the blood trailing down both of your knees.
"Hey man, your girlfriend practically asked for it! Just look how she is dressed—"
Before you could process what was happening, Megumi had yanked the man by his collar and thrown a punch at him. You yelped and immediately got a hold of his arm to stop him further. "Megumi!"
The other guy quickly caught his friend, who spat out a string of curses, his lips bloodied from the punch.
"Fuck. Off." Megumi glowered at them, and they finally got the message, scurrying away in hurry. The moment they did, he faced you again and you finally let out a sob, throwing yourself into him. His body was warm, his heart pounding hard— yet it meant reassurance for you.
"Are you okay...?" his voice was noticeably softer as he wrapped his arms around you and returned the hug. "Did they touch you—?"
Megumi froze when he felt his chest dampen with your tears and heard your sniffles, your figure shaking like a leaf in his embrace. A wave of guilt washed over him, realizing how scared you must have been. Instinctively, he held you tighter.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry," he muttered, his breath warm against your ear. It was as if there was an invincible knife that twisted his chest when it dawned on him what you just got into. "I'm here now, okay? You're safe now."
If it weren’t for his harsh words earlier, you wouldn’t have run off. He kept shushing you, his own heart breaking at the turn of events.
And when you nodded against him, he knew he had to make it up to you somehow.
Later, Megumi tended to your minor injury while crouching down before you, as you sat on a bench near the convenience store where he had picked up the first aid kit.
Your eyes were swollen, your outfit was dirtied, but you ignored the curious looks from passersby. Still shaken, you kept your gaze fixed on your lap.
You recoiled when the disinfectant touched your torn skin, tears welling up again in your eyes. "Ow..."
"It'll hurt just a bit," Megumi looked up at you worriedly, seeing you struggling to hold back tears. He gently blew air on your wound. "It’ll be over soon."
Megumi noticed how you were uncharacteristically quiet. Between the two of you, you were the chatty one and he was the silent listener. But now, you were completely silent, and he knew it was definitely not a good sign.
And so he thought it was a good time to finally explain himself. With a sigh, he began. "I... was on back-to-back missions since last week."
You glanced at him, both surprised and confused.
"I was so tired; that’s why I’ve been oversleeping lately. Sorry for not meeting you on time." Megumi applied the ointment to your knees, and you stiffened from the sting. He blew air on them again to ease the discomfort.
"You never told me," you pointed out.
"Yeah, uh, sorry..." he winced. "It's so... lame. I got so exhausted for a week straight whereas Itadori bounces back so easily. Stupid, I know."
"You... didn't tell me because you don't want to look uncool?"
As soon as you worded it that way, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment. Megumi remained silent, looking down, and you knew that his silence was a definite yes.
Totally stupid. But exactly how Fushiguro Megumi was always wired. A part of you was exasperated, but also forgave him for it.
When he met your gaze again, he finally saw the light returning to your eyes. It was a relief to him, so he let out a small sigh and put on a strained smile.
"How did you find me anyway?" you asked quietly.
"You didn't pick up my calls. I was worried. And then I ran around until I heard your voice." His eyes narrowed into a frown. "Did they do anything to you?"
You shook your head, and Megumi let out the breath he had been holding, gripping your right hand in his. "I’m glad."
You brushed away the trace of tears on your cheeks as he finished applying band-aids to your knees, awkwardly fiddling with your fingers.
"Sorry for being annoying," you mumbled softly, not meeting his eyes, feeling yourself so small all of a sudden. "Will totally happen again though."
"You..." Megumi rose from the ground, raising an eyebrow. Unintentionally, he cracked a smile at your daring remark. "Just... don’t run off again, dummy. Do it where I can see you."
He ruffled your hair gently, then intertwined your fingers with his. "And sorry... for getting mad at you too."
Your cheeks felt warm, so you looked away, puckering your lips together. "...I'm hurt. You have to make it up to me."
He hummed, the beginnings of a smile on his face. "Let's go have that shaved ice you’ve been craving then."
“Huh? But you don’t like them?”
“You like those sugary dump, don’t you?”
Hand-in-hand, both of you traversed the Shibuya shopping district together. Your eyes were still puffy, but you were smiling and talking his ears off again just like you always did.
“I told those pricks my boyfriend will definitely kick their asses,” you giggled to yourself, swinging your intertwined hand joyfully. “And you really did~”
“What are you talking about…?”
And yet, Megumi thought... he liked you the best this way.

the clock ticked softly in the background as you sat across from megumi, a stack of textbooks between you. the dim light of the desk lamp cast a warm glow over the room, the atmosphere quiet except for the occasional scratch of pens on paper.
"oi megumi," you called softly, nudging your mug toward him. "could you get me a refill? just a little bit of coffee."
megumi barely looked up from his notes. "sure, give me a second." he reached for the mug without thinking, but then his hand froze midair. slowly, he turned to you, eyes narrowing slightly.
"what did you just call me?"
you blinked. "megumi...?"
his face betrayed a faint hint of surprise, though he quickly schooled his expression into neutrality. "you never call me by my first name."
"so?" you asked, feigning indifference, but the subtle twitch of your lips gave you away.
he stared at you for a moment longer before letting out a quiet huff. "fine. i'll get your coffee."
you smirked as he walked away, noticing the slight redness in his ears. when he returned and handed you the mug, he muttered under his breath, "if you're going to call me that, at least don't say it so casually."
"why?" you teased, taking a sip of the coffee. "does it bother you, megumi?"
his glare was unconvincing, the pink flush on his cheeks making it impossible to take him seriously. "just shut up and study."
the cinema was buzzing with excitement, fans eagerly lining up to catch the latest blockbuster. you and yuji stood at the counter, debating which snacks to get.
"you sure you don't want popcorn?" he asked, holding up an absurdly large bucket.
"i'll just steal some of yours, yuji." you replied casually, scanning the drink options.
he froze, his eyes widening as he slowly turned to face you. "wait… did you just call me yuji?"
"yeah? that's your name, isn't it?" you replied, glancing up in confusion.
his face broke into the biggest grin you'd ever seen. "you never call me that! you always just say 'itadori' or something!"
"it's not that big of a deal," you mumbled, slightly flustered at how happy he looked.
"it is to me!" he said earnestly, clutching the popcorn bucket like it was a trophy. "you have no idea how cool that sounded. say it again!"
you rolled your eyes, though your cheeks warmed. "c'mon, yuji, let's grab our seats before the movie starts."
"twice in one night!" he exclaimed, trailing after you with an excited bounce in his step. "best day ever!"
you were used to quiet moments like these, sitting across from kento in the break room as you both sipped tea. he preferred these moments of calm over the usual chaos of the day. it was peaceful—until you broke the silence.
"kento, can you pass me the sugar?" you asked, your voice as soft as the clink of your cup on the table.
kento froze, his hand hovering above his own mug. slowly, his eyes flicked toward you, eyebrows slightly raised in surprise. "what... did you just say?"
you blinked at him, unsure what the fuss was about. "kento. that's your name, isn't it?"
he sat straighter, visibly taken aback. "yes, but you've never called me that before."
you shrugged, a faint smirk tugging at your lips. "i felt like trying it out. don't you like it?"
he opened his mouth to respond but quickly closed it again, his expression carefully neutral. despite his best efforts, a slight pink hue crept up his neck. "it's... fine. just unexpected."
you couldn't resist teasing him further. "you're blushing."
"i am not," he said firmly, though his voice wavered ever so slightly.
"sure you aren't," you replied with a chuckle, leaning back in your chair.
kento cleared his throat, determined to regain his composure. "if you're going to use my first name, at least don't make it sound weird."
"noted, kento," you said, emphasizing his name.
he sighed, adjusting his tie with a faint grumble. "somehow, i doubt you'll take that seriously."
the jujutsu high campus was unusually quiet for once. you sat cross-legged on the grass, trying to enjoy the rare peace, but satoru had other plans.
"oi, what are you doing all the way over here?" his unmistakable voice called out before he plopped himself down next to you without invitation.
you sighed, already anticipating the chaos. "nothing, satoru."
he blinked, pausing mid-sentence as if your words had caught him off guard. "wait, hold on. did you just call me satoru?"
you raised an eyebrow. "since when is that a problem?"
his signature grin spread across his face, his sunglasses glinting in the sunlight. "aw, you're getting all cozy with me now, huh? first-name basis and everything!"
you rolled your eyes. "it's just a name. you're overreacting, moron."
"but it's kinda weird," he teased, leaning in dramatically as if to inspect you. "you're always so serious and proper. this is huge!"
"satoru," you deadpanned, "stop acting like a child."
"see? there it is again!" he clutched his chest as if you'd struck him with a love arrow. "hearing you say my name is like music to my ears. say it again."
"no."
"say it, and i'll buy you that fancy coffee you like."
you shot him a skeptical glance but couldn't hide the faint twitch of your lips. "satoru."
he gasped, clasping his hands together in mock joy. "ah, perfection! my name has never sounded so good!"
"are you done?" you asked, standing up to leave.
"not even close," he replied, springing to his feet and trailing after you like a shadow. "now, should i start calling you by your first name too? or do you prefer some cute nickname—"
you groaned, walking faster. "why did i even bother?"
behind you, satoru chuckled, clearly enjoying every second. "because you secretly like me, obviously!"

he's the type to put his hand over the sharp corner of the table when he sees you bend down to pick up an object that was dropped while still being able to continue stirring the ingredients in the bowl.
he's the type to abruptly pull you to the side by the hoodie when he notices you walking just a little too close to the upcoming light pole. he can't even scold you because you're deep in conversation with your friend. he nearly trips on his own two feet when he sees you turn back to him and mouth a 'thank you' to him when you have a break in your conversation.
he's the type to hand you a napkin when he sees your hand mindlessly moving around the table top, not even sparing him a single glance as you take it from his hand, wipe your mouth with it, and continue on your talk about the latest gossip during dinner.

he's the type to poke his fork into the strawberry and feed it to you as you manage to type up your essay and hold a conversation with him, too busy to realize what he's doing. you don't even notice how he quickly feeds himself a piece before giving you another one effortlessly, not once breaking the flow of the conversation.

he's the type to have friends who notice all of this. who doesn't understand how the both of you aren't dating yet; especially when they notice the way your eyes always seem to find his in a crowded room. they see the way you laugh at his corny jokes and the way his eyes go straight to yours to gauze your reaction. the way you always run into his open arms first the moment you win at your event. it's so obvious and yet it's so infuriating and they can't help but watch from the sidelines with their popcorn.
