Death Note

Summary; Mello, Near and Y/N were childhood friends at Wammy’s House, years later Y/N and Mello get together and their feelings for one another emerge.

Warnings; None.

A/N; Sorry I suck at summary, my friend requested this idea and finally I’m writing it. This will be a short story. I might add smut in the future chapters ;)

Chapter One

December 2007 Wammy’s House

It was a sunny day for a cold December, the dry leaves made crack sounds as Y/N and Mello were walking in the playground, they could hear other children laughing, chasing each other. ‘’What are you thinking?’’ Mello asked, he could see that she was in deep thoughts, Mello and Y/N were living at this place for years, none of them knew their parents but they knew that they had each other, no matter what. ‘’The future.’’ Y/N shortly replied, she seemed sad. Mello pulled out a chocolate bar from his deep pocket, a sudden cold wind moved his golden brown hair out of his pure face, he always had an angry expression. The anger of an orphan never leaves, it eats him inside, his blue eyes seemed compassionate, he gave one bar to Y/N, ‘’Eat, it will cheer you up.’’ He was used to stealing from their teacher’s room. Y/N gladly ate the chocolate, they sat on a bench, ‘’Do you think that we will be together in the future, like we are now?’’ Mello asked what he was thinking and wanted to slap his face, whenever he was close to Y/N he asked stupid questions and said things he never wanted to say out loud, he was in love with her. ‘’I don’t know Mello, L has to choose one of us, not 3 of us.’’ Mello, Y/N and Near were the successors of L and they were trained to be like him when they are old enough or if something happens to L. ‘’I hate to admit it but Near has a natural talent.’’ Mello and Near had fights all the time, Near was calm and collective on the other hand Mello always fell into the web of his emotions, he was always ready to punch someone. Y/N was their balance, that’s why 3 of them were assigned to be together.

‘’You didn’t answer my question Y/N.’’ Mello pointed out, he wanted her to say yes, yes we will always be together… Y/N took a glance at his beautiful face, his ocean eyes were begging, looked pleasently warm. ‘’Yes Mello, we will always be together.’’

The world stopped for them for a second, they didn’t hear the children around them (they were the oldests in the Wammy House), it was just them existing together, Mello did something he wanted to do for a long time, he leaned closer and kissed Y/N. It was a soft innocent kiss of two teenagers, Y/N could feel her cheeks burning, she was in love e,th him too, as they parted a smile flickered across their lips, Mello stroked her pink cheek and above their heads birds were singing as if they were singing a love song just for them.

‘’Mello! Y/N! Come inside.’’ One of their teachers called for them, she seemed upset.

They were taken to the headmaster’s office, Near was inside too, he had a white puzzle board. ‘’I have to give you a terrible news.’’ The headmaster began, Mello found himslef holding Y/N’s hand, ‘’L is dead.’’

Y/N could feel the anger vibrating from Mello, he gave her hand a harsh twist, ‘’What?! How?!’’ he screamed. A single tear dropped from Y/N eye, ‘’I don’t know how but he is dead. Since he didn’t choose a successor before he died…’’ he looked at all 3 of them, ‘’I think all of you can be L, you should work together, you would be inexpugnable.’’

Mello hit the headmaster’s chair, ‘’I would never work with Near, Y/N and I are almost 15, we will leave together.’’ Mello turned to leave, he opened the door but stopped in his tracks because he didn’t hear Y/N’s following footsteps. He turned to see Y/N standing next to Near, ‘’Mello, I want to stay. We should stay and work together. Stay with me.. please.’’ Mello was too furious to hear, ‘’No. Are you coming or what?’’

Near was younger than them and he always saw Y/N as a maternal figure so he held Y/N’s hand tightly, he didn’t want her to go, even though Near and Mello had fights Near never wanted him to leave them, ‘’I’m staying, and you know you have to stay with us.’’

Mello felt betrayed, just moments ago they promised each other that they will be together and sealed it with a kiss but now Y/N was choosing Near and the Wammy’s House over Mello. He suppressed his tears, ‘’Fine! Suit yourself.’’ And he slammed the door as he left.

Nowdays

It had been years and thanks to their mutual friend Matt, Y/N was getting info on what Mello is up to. She was on her own, she had her own cases and she was working with Near as equals, sometimes she was working with the FBI and sometimes they sent her to 3rd world countries. Her last case was a hard one, she lost her house and she had to lay low for couple of months and she had nowhere to go except Mello. Thanks to Matt she got the address of his hideout, Mello was working for a Mafia Boss now and years ago Y/N got one of the memebers arrested so she wasn’t expecting a warm welcome.

They were staying at an abandoned building, outside looked like no one had been there for decades, no cars were around and the trees and plants were hiding the building perfectly. She, from a distance, walked and circled the building, trying to find an entrance, she knew they would soon catch her so she acted like she didn’t see the hidden cameras, her purpose was to get caught and talk to Mello.

Soon two men caught her, tied her hands and feet, put a piece of cloth in her mouth and covered her eyes with a black cloth. She knew the proses so she was calm which freaked out the men who caught her. They carried her inside, she was taken to a dark room, they made her sit on a chair and for some time there was nothing but silence. She was quick so she get rid of the rope which they used to tie her wrists, but she still held her hands at the back of the chair, didn’t want any attention. The door of the room opened and someone removed the eye bondage and the gag in her mouth. The room was dimly lit, a man with a bald head and blue eyes were standing there, he had expensive cloths and a golden watch, one of his golden rings had a sigil, she knew it was the sigil of that boss’s house. ‘’Y/N… are you here to apologies. You put my best man inside, he was valuable you know.’’ He had a cocky tone which Y/N didn’t like. ‘’I was working with the FBI, instead of giving your name I put your man inside. You should be thanking me old man.’’

He lit his thick cigar, he took a step towards her, she could smell the cigar, it made her stomach twist in disgust, ‘’What should I do to you pretty face hmm?’’ his calm blue eyes travelled on her face, neck and breasts, ‘’I can kill all of you right now if I wanted to.’’ She said as calm as she could be, the boss laughed at her face, ‘’Leave me alone with her.’’ A voice said and made the bald boss turn. Mello was standing at the doorway, hands in his dark jeans, his long hair hiding his forehead and creating a shadow on his face, his blue diamond eyes shined when he saw her. ‘’You know her?’’

‘’Yes. Let me talk to her.. alone.’’

Mello had a power over the boss she could see that, soon the boss and his men left and closed the metal door. It was just them, she brought her hands to her feet to remove the rope but failed, Mello without saying anything knelt in front of her and freed her feet, he looked up to meet her eyes, his blue ones were sparkling, but she couldn’t understand whether he was happy to see her or angry.

‘’Long time no see.’’ He said breaking the silence between them.
