I love his curls. And Alex in the background is killing me
mourning his curls so im finally posting this
If you have curly hair and you don't want to dry your hair like a normal human being after washing it, at least don't dry it by shaking your head like a dog with some songs and then go to bed chat.

I have curly hair and I cut them myself. Those two facts are not a problem until you combine them with the straightening I just gave them. Now it's very visible that I have not made a clean cut (but who cares, I have curls, it doesn't usually show. Emphasis on usually)
âWhat is hair and how i can render it?â
I got this question and I really wanted to show on very simple examples how to render hair. Because it really is⌠simple! Following this guide you will be able to paint hair in few minutes.
This is called the ribbon technique.
It is used by many artists out there. I just wanted to show you a couple of examples. As you can see I picked Adam Hughes and J. C. Leyendecker. Look at it and see how they paint the hair. It doesnât look like a mop. It looks more like big, overlapping shapes organized in some fashion.
Try to imagine a string of hair like a ribbon. Ribbon symbolize a large portion of hair. Donât focus on every single hair string, instead of this imagine it as bigger shape. It will catch light in highest point and it will have core shadows.
Establish where light is hitting the hair and where it turns dark. Start with big shapes. big brushes to get the lights and volumes right. Then You can go into details and paint small brush strokes to add details like single hair strings.
I attached two examples. First is very simple where you can clearly see and understand the similarity between hair and ribbon. Second example is theory put into practice. But itâs basically doing the same things as shown in simple example.
Let me know what you think about this?
I based my knowledge on James Gurney blog (author of Dinotopia and Light and Color book)
And for the example I used Faestock (from deviantart) photo.
Quick sketch of a random cyclop girl I made to practice eye coloring. Please, open bigger image to see her eye. It was my first time I colored something in SAI and I think i did it pretty well... Why her had is circle-like? Because when i started she supposed to be a chibbi. I reeally donât have anything left to say about this.
More natural X-Key. Softer colors.

1. Don't buy tons of products and spend heaps of money, just a co-wash and mouuse or gel works great, and you can exand as you go!
2. Use a scalp brush! These things are miracles- especially if you have really oily hair like me! They also will also cut extend the number of days between your washes!
3. Just use a cotton t-shirt for drying. Many people invest in a perfect hair care towel, but why not just use what you've got?
4. For great curl clumps, use your hands to micro-plop as much water as you can out of them when you're in the shower, and then apply mousse or gel and micro-plop again.
5. I get great results out of washing my hair in the evening and putting it up in a pineapple when it's not fully dry. This keeps the mousse and volume in so when you wake up, it's not only dry but the scrunching gives you AMAZING curls. I never used to do this but now I love it!
6. You don't need a satin pillowcase or bonet. Literally just pineapple your hair in the night and your hair will be as good as new in the morning!
7. Don't tire yourself out with the CGM. It's easy to get lost in a spiral of possibilities but if you read my previously post, you'll see that it's so simple to do if you keep it that way!
So, I hope you've learnt something from this and I can inspire you and help you out on your curly girl journey â¤
"Curly hair isn't a trend. It's a lifestyle"
The curly girl method. Youâve probably heard of it, but it seems too complicated. I have been following the CGM (Curly Girl Method) for about 4 or 5 weeks now, and Iâm here to share all my insight and what Iâve learnt so far.
Most people talk about how it takes months to see any change, but for me I saw results almost immediately. If you want to establish a simple and effective method that will not only give you more and enhance your curls, but will make your hair much healthy, grow longer faster, and is unimaginably easy & cheap; keep reading.
Iâve broken this into 4 parts.
1. Research
Youâre probably wondering why you need to do research for a hair method. Boring, right? But trust me, itâs important to know your stuff before you start, because thatâs how youâre going to get it to work the best for your hair. I read up, found products and watched videos for weeks before starting the method, and every second of it was worth it.
First of all, find out exactly what the curly girl method is, and how it works. I saw people saying a lot about how it took them months before the CGM worked on their hair. That their hair was feeling oily and gross in the first few months. After trying it, I quickly realized that the reason it worked so well on me is because I knew, was aware, and knew how to avoid these things. It is also worth it know what the main thing you will/already struggle with with your hair, and avoid it. For me, that was oily hair. Which brings me to and will be explained further in my next point.
2. Products
Another very important thing is finding out what products work with your hair. The key here is not quantity and having as many products as you can. I own 2 products that I use for my hair and absolutely love it. What is important is reading reviews (take them with a pinch of salt) and checking ingredients and what type of product youâre getting. I saw many YouTube videos of people buying 30 and 50 dollar items, but thatâs not necessary at all. I use a 10 dollar co wash from a local store, and a 4 dollar mousse, and I swear by both of them (Items linked at the bottom). They are quite literally the only two products I use on my hair.
So, before I said that I struggled with oily hair, and I knew that if I just left it like that, the CGM would most likely heighten the greasiness an product buildup. Before I started, it was at the point where I couldnât tie my hair up past the middle of the back of my head because it would hurt like hell. I did research and found this thing called a scalp/shampoo brush. It was just over 5 dollars and has been working miracles for me ever since.
3. Routine
Lastly, itâs important to plan ahead and start having a rough idea of the routine youâre going to get into once youâve started the CGM. My whole life Iâd washed my hair around once a week, and thatâs what I do now as well, however I also heard about this thing called refreshes. Itâs basically when you rinse your hair out upside down in the shower and then apply mousse/gel. If you also have very oily hair, this helps a lot.
Even though planning this ahead is good, donât feel confined to it. You can change it up anytime based on what you feel like your hair needs. As well as this, you can also establish a wash day routine. This helps a lot and gives you structure to make sure you donât waste time and know what youâre doing on your wash days.Â
Right now, my routine is...
Doing an apple cider rinse (every 3 washes)
Co-washing and using the scalp brush, this includes squish to condish (scrunching the conditioner into your hair so it travels up the follicle into your roots)
Tying my hair up and finishing my shower while I let the conditioner really clean and hydrate my hair
Wash it out and scrunch out the water with my hands
Micro plop. Then plop, apply mousse and plop/micro plop (these can be one in basically any order)
This may sound complicated but most of it is basically your regular hair wash with a little extra effort- itâs really simple actually.
Anyway, I hope this has inspired and helped some of you to start the CGM, and let you know that you can get amazing and immediate results in under 10 dollars. But remember, everyoneâs hair is different and special in itâs own way â¤
