I hope you like drama, mystery and badass women.
A couple of months ago, your father received the visit of a certain Sir Sharpe, Baronet, followed by a deal regarding a new invention that could revolutionize mining, and actions that could be granted to your family in the Allerdale Mining company in exchange for financing the prototype. Upon reception of a letter exposing the difficulties encountered in the making of the machine, which had now stalled the process despite how close to its success Sir Sharpe was, you insisted to go and aid him, something you are actually perfectly able to do, as you're the first woman in your country to have earned a Master's degree in civil engineering. Eventually, your dad conceded, on the condition that your twin brother William, an architect in-between contracts, accompany you on the journey to Allerdale hall.
There, beliefs will be broken, secrets old and new will resurface and entombed wounds will reopen. Can everyone, or anyone really, ever come out of Crimson Peak unscathed? Or are the horrors of love always inevitable?

It's crazy how much talent and amazing costumes I saw today at just a one day con! I hope I'll see you all at acen soon!
crimson peak's ghosts really were such incredible design work. which is to be expected from guillermo del toro, but it's still impressive, especially when you actually stop to consider how much thought and detail went into them. they're visceral, bloody, resembling decaying flesh far more than the typical vaporous appearance you expect when you hear the word "ghost". they're painful to look at, these half-rotted, twisted, moaning apparitions that at first evoke more terror than sympathy, making edith's initial refusal to accept their warnings very understandable, especially when you remember that she's been seeing them since she was a little girl. they reflect the true horror at the heart of the story - of being trapped by the trauma inflicted on you, in perpetual agony from wounds that will not heal, unable to move on, and begging for someone to see you, to understand your pleas for help and acknowledge your pain, that you were wronged, to break the cycle of violence and ensure that it doesn't happen again and render your suffering meaningless.
Crimson Peak is SO fucking funny when they first get to the house and Hiddles is like. Oh yeah forget to mention, giant hole in the roof. Also the floor is rotten, someday the whole foundation will collapse. And don’t be alarmed if the pipes start bleeding! It’s just that the very ground beneath our feet is oozing red liquid, absolutely drenched with it, as though the entire house is bleeding and bloodstained, as though the very earth our family legacy is built upon were one great open wound.
I fucking love Gothic settings. Don’t worry about it Edith, welcome to your very normal and inhabitable house.
New and hi-res stills from Guillermo del Toro’s horror Crimson Peak, whose first full trailer debuted yesterday: watch it here.
Rating: 8.5 of 10
In its barest bones, Crimson Peak is about a young American woman, Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska), who falls in love with a British aristocrat, Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), with his own complicated relationship with his sister (Jessica Chastain) and mysterious heritage. Things aren't as straightforward as it seems, of course, and in Crimson Peak, it involves secrets and ghosts in the opulent house of Allerdale Hall.
Crimson Peak is gorgeous. Del Toro's (Pacific Rim, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) movies are always exquisite in its visual, but Crimson Peak is the most outright beautiful. Rich in color and complex in its texture, the whole of Crimson Peak is a marvel to behold, most notably is their costume and the house of Allerdale Hall. The house itself (a three-storied house, built in a full 7 months, and has 2 complete sets of furniture of varying sizes depending on which scenes they shoot) is a real set built in Canada specifically for the film, and the little details put into it are mindblowing.
All that trouble paid off, thankfully (tenfold, if you ask me). The house has a deep, haunting atmosphere--magnifying its macabre. Despite not being a proper horror movie, Crimson Peak has imageries that haunt you for days if not for how eerie it was, then for how beautiful, or both. Honestly, it’s more than I can say for most horror movies.
One major flaw of Crimson Peak is that it’s not a horror movie, despite the fact that it looks like one and is marketed like one. Instead, it’s a love story that is not particularly scary, but is definitely on the creepy side.
Tom Hiddleston is effortless in playing the many sides of Thomas Sharpe--the dazzling lover, the struggling business man, and the ominous villain. I’m not usually a fan of Wasikowska, but here she is a perfect blend of everything Edith represents and I wouldn’t have her any other way. I was, however, underwhelmed by Jessica Chastain performance for most of the movie excepting maybe the final act. She’s the only chip on my shoulder that makes Crimson Peak isn’t perfect for me, but she doesn’t negate all the things the movie got right. In short, I honestly don’t get why people don’t seem to love it as much as I think it deserves.
TL;DR Creepy and weirdly sensual, Crimson Peak is a hauntingly beautiful piece of art.
it's doesn't let me reblog it but based on this post by @kaleidoscope-vol2 i made this, hope you like it

Another of my old engineering memes for you all. :D
I watch Crimson Peak for the plot
The plot:
Thomas' project reminds me so much of real life engineering. It's a brilliant invention with a shoestring budget. He also struggles to get (honest) funding for it, and therefore, his project's most likely understaffed, over schedule, and over budget.
And of course the machine experiences a huge component failure when he finally gets it running because stuff usually never works right the first time in engineering. Then the project has to be scrubbed in the end, namely because Lucille got stabby (but that's another story).
Following up on the last post, my mind turned, as it inevitably must, to Tom Hiddleston looking so handsome and moody.
These are the characters from all the movies I’ve watched of Mia Wasikowska. I don’t know why she looks soo miserable in most of the movies.
1. Helen Hatton Laferty ( The Devil All the Time)
2. Helen Dawes ( Albert Nobbs)
3. Hannah (The Double)
4. Edith Cushing ( Crimson peak)
5. Alice (Alice in wonderland)
6. Alice (Alice through the Looking Glass)
I like to think that Edith and Thomas lived happily ever after in London as a beautiful aristocratic couple who travel the world...
