🇨🇺🇻🇪 #Cuba #Venezuela correspondence 1957-58. Ten years later: On 10 May 1967 a dozen guerrillas landed in Venezuela at the beach of #Machurucuto. The Army of Venezuela and the National Guard engaged them on the night of 10 May and the battle lasted until 11 May. Two men (Cuban) were captured and the rest were killed in battle. The guerrillas had completed paramilitary training in Cuba to train Venezuelan guerrillas in the Venezuelan Andes. This Incident was a battle between Venezuelan Army and National Guard troops and Cuban trained guerrillas. Some Venezuelans remember this as the Invasion of Machurucuto. #Castro setting his eyes over the oil rich South American country since then. In 1898, the war for independence from Spain was still raging ( The Ten Year War). A year prior, Valeriano Weiler ( Butcher Weiler) left the island after his repressive failure known as the reconcentration, where a lot of Cuban families, including mine, where confined into towns. Years later, dictator Castro would repeat the same with the Captive towns ( Pueblos Cautivos) and the Umap( forced labor camps for dissidents, religious groups and the lgtbq) | Por algún motivo, esta collección de sellos de Alfonso tiene reproducciones falsas.
