An absolute must read.
"Long before she was the terror of wonderland, the infamous Queen of Hearts, she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love."
This novel brings readers excitement and illicit romance between two star crossed lovers.
The protagonist, Katherine, is the daughter of a noble and only wants to open a bakery to share her love of pastries with the folks of wonderland. But fate has other plans when she is suddenly told of the foolish King's desire to marry her.
I found this novel to be painfully beautiful because as the reader we already know that she is going to marry the king. We know how the story ends. We know and yet we hope stubbornly that she will succeed in her quest to follow her dreams by opening a bakery and be with the one she loves. And when she ultimately fails we can't be surprised; we knew this was coming.
I give this book 5 stars because I will be crying over this book 'till the end of time.
Warning- Angst ahead
when the villian and hero couple are in front of the bigger villian that villian worked under and in deep danger and have to pretend to fight to avoid said danger, clumsily throwing punches at each other with with stiff hands, holding a dagger to the throat but it's trembling badly, subconsciously getting close to each and trying to touch in any way for some sort of comfort, fervently glancing at the bigger villian to see how they're reacting, the villians crippling guilt in feeling responsible, trying to communicate with eyes and form a plan but their mind can't work over how scared they are, more for the other person than them
Yeah I want that

You know the gruff cold grey character vigorously denying their feelings (for their nemesis) is funny but also consider them immediately accepting them a la " guess this is my life now" and doing a complete 180 followed by the immediate surprise of anyone who ever knew them
"Hey, you look lovely today, here I got you your favourite drink." *Wierd smile* *suspicious* "is there poison in it?"
*simping in the meeting* "That's a really good plan, you're so smart haha" everyone :0 " Do you have a fever?"
"why do you care so much anyway!" *nursing their wound* *intense* " love/petname, of course I care, I love you. Now tell me who did this to you. *shocked in 12 languages and 3 dimensioms*
