Hey Siri do I include more Olde Ways references and possibly religious elements to my Black Brothers angst? Asking for a friend.

I have come to the painful realization that in order for the spell checker to admit my writing is at least high school senior level, I can’t have blocks of just dialogue in the middle of my WIP.

Anyways brb crying over Sirius and Regulus while relentlessly working to wreck y’all’s hearts over these two. Hurt no comfort.

Do you think Regulus cried out “Sirius” instead of “Mum” when he got injured as a child?

Sirius and Regulus weren't allowed to read muggle stories when they were younger for OBVIOUS reason, and they never really felt the need to anyway. Until one day, Regulus got his hands on an old book filled with muggle fairytales, and he was absolutely captivated. He and Sirius would stay up at night under the covers with just a small light reading the same stories over and over again. Little Reggie was terrified of the story of "The Little Mermaid" because he couldn't bear the thought of Sirius leaving him and their house for someone he loved (like the Little Mermaid left her family under the sea for the prince). Sirius would always reassure him that that would never happen, that he would never love anyone more than his little brother. As Regulus was drowing in his final moments, he couldn't help but think about the irony of the situation, Sirius left him, and now Regulus was going back to his place in the water

Yes! And if Regulus had the "golden child" status, if nothing else, he felt smothered by their high expectations for him. Most "golden children" also struggle with feelings of guilt for having preferential treatment. No matter what side of the equation either Black brother is on, it would still be absolutely miserable and abusive.

Obviously, there isn't any evidence of physical abuse against either Sirius or Regulus in the books. However, something caused Sirius to run away and it surely wasn't that his parents didn't give him pocket money. The psychological or emotional abuse must have been bad enough that Sirus decided to run. Anyone who has abt experience with toxic or abusive parents will know that every child reacts to it differently but at the end of the day, regardless of whether you follow the rules or you act out, their toxic or abusive behaviour is going to affect you. Parents dont become abusive because you break rules. Suggesting that Regulus with his "golden child status " was exempt from the abuse is just ridiculous and quite frankly harmful to people who find themselves in such homes.

Whatever you do don't think about Sirius staying up at night his first year at Hogwarts, talking to the stars because he missed his younger brother.

Whatever you do, don't think about how Sirius must have torn his hair out and screamed and cried for hours when he read Regulus' letter.

Whatever you do, don't think about how terrified Sirius must have been the first time he stepped between Orion and Regulus to keep Orion from harming his baby brother.

Whatever you do, don't think about all the unsent letters Sirius wrote to Regulus, begging him to come run away with him.

Whatever you do, don't think about how Sirius' heart dropped to his feet when he watched Regulus walk over to the Slytherin table during the sorting ceremony.

Whatever you do, don't think about how Sirius would turn into Padfoot and sneak into the Slytherin dorms just to see Regulus for even a moment.

Whatever you do, don't think about Sirius looking at James and seeing Regulus in his behavior.

Whatever you do, don't think about Sirius' heart wrenching sobs when he saw the mark on Regulus' wrist.
