Headcanons for ayato aishi slowly falling for his ex best friend reader whos now acts like they doesnt know him and avoid them because they knew their true self and tried to kill them in the past

I feel like the only reason Ayato would have friends would be for personal gain and to blend in a little more, a best friend would be due to a significant amount of personal gain for his Senpai.
So maybe you’re very knowledgeable of things that would help him with his murders and you just pass his odd questions by him just simply being very curious.
But then you’re unfortunate enough to witness him disposing of a corpse.
As said, he only befriended you for personal gain, so it was nothing for him to drag you deeper in the storage room of the school to finish you off to make sure that you never utter a word of what you saw.
He’s oddly enough taken back at the look of horror on your face when he raises his weapon on you, shocked enough for you to slip away.
Recognizing his mistake, he follows you to the courtyard where many students stand, making it unable for him to finish the job.
The rest of the school day, he notices you spending your time around groups of people, as well as not uttering a word of what you saw.
You remain in shock the first day, unable to report what happened.
As soon as you try to talk yourself into doing so, fear of what would happen to you if you do so overtakes you and you instead keep quiet.
So the following days, Ayato keeps an especially close eye on you to make sure you stay quiet.
He has no problem making his presence known to you, using it as a scare tactic to pressure you into keeping your lips sealed.
All this spending time keeping his eye on you means spending more time away from his Senpai.
As he stalks you, his mind often wanders back to the storage room, wondering why he couldn’t kill you.
The more he ponders about it, the closer he gets to realize that he just couldn’t allow himself to be the cause of such terror to you.
He couldn’t end you.
He comes to the conclusion that he actually viewed you as a friend, which he later finds out is wrong.
With you on edge, he sees you being excessively jumpy around other students, a few of them (especially the bullies) exploiting it a little more than he’d like.
Due to this; as time goes by, he notices that he simply cannot have you in a terrified state rather than being unable to be the cause of it.
He eventually finds himself hurting and threatening the bullies for scaring you (while trying to retain some anonymity).
It isn’t until he’s too deep in that he realizes his obsession has somehow transcended from his once dear Senpai to you.
Unfortunately for him, you witnessed him committing an atrocious act.
