Doing my usual "lets go back and read random BSD chapters" and I can't help but notice how different Fyodor is now to when he was first introduced.

I've made a few posts pointing out how Fyodor and Dazai have similar panels, but I'm starting to think he's actually mimicking Dazai's mannerisms on purpose now.

I don't have a lot of canon proof other than, ~a feeling~, I get looking at him, so consider this a headcanon rather than a theory.

Like, Fyodor, why does this keep happening??? Fyodor's versions of these poses also all happen later in the manga than Dazai's versions.

Now, there's the argument that Fyodor wasn't there for half of these, but we do know he's a hacker and he was obsessed with Dazai for a time. I do believe he would just sit there watching Dazai's movements on cameras to learn his patterns and habits in the name of defeating him.

Compare how he holds himself now, to how he did when he was first introduced.

He's a shut in who bites his nails, doesn't take care of his posture or appearance. He's so used to being behind the curtains he's off putting to be directly around.

Whereas Dazai is a chameleon, he blends in anywhere he goes. If I was an immortal so out of touch with my own humanity and basic identity, I probably pick someone to mimic their behaviours too.

Ironic that he choose the man who doesn't consider himself human to learn from.

I'm also drawn to this panel specifically.

(Very suspicious choice of words there, considering the current manga arc, but I digress)

Typically when we think of vampires, we think of blood sucking immortals, but the vampire we have in BSD is based of Dracula. Dracula specifically poses the question of "What if vampires stole who you are as well?". The idea that you can't consume someone's very life without having their soul linger on with you.

The Count learns to blend in with modern society through Johnathan, from learning from him and by feeding off him. Mina, Renfield and Lucy all slowly lose who they are the more influence the Count has over them.

This panel says he's soulless, he's 'empty', he's a vampire waiting to steal someone else's soul to fill him up. Now, that could be a hint at what his ability turned out to be, but it could also mean how he's mimicking Dazai.

But why mimic Dazai?

Well, simply put, he was the only one Fyodor saw as an equal and we know he wanted a companion who he considered to be his equal. So why not make himself more like the man he wants at his side. To obtain Dazai, he became Dazai.

Problem is Dazai hates himself, he also seems to dislike any character that's convinced they are the same. (Note: Not characters Dazai sees himself in, like Atsushi, but characters who insist to him that they are the same, like Mori and Fyodor)

It was a doomed plot from the start.

However, Dazai is no longer his goal. Atsushi is. Fyodor knows Atsushi greatly admires Dazai, so continuing to mimic Dazai's mannerisms to connect them together in Atsushi's mind could be part of his plan now.

If we adopted children into the mafia would that be fucked up or what

Oh boy I thought people were over the Rayleigh-Zoro parallel being a 1 for 1 thing. But I see with this chapter they're not and now they're doing the same with Sanji and Gabán.

Rayleigh was a parallel to both Zoro and Sanji and Gaban's the same.

Rayleigh's a swordsman but he also uses his legs to fight while Gabán uses two axes (which ironically makes for 3 weapons + 1 pair of legs, it's probably just chance but who knows with Oda).

Rayleigh made fun of Zoro's stupidity the same way Sanji would, he's got a got a scar similar to Zoro's.

Rayleigh's a big drinker like Zoro and Gaban's very into love like Sanji.

Gaban's linked to Wano like Zoro and they both like to stir shit up.

Both Sanji-Zoro and Gabán-Rayleigh will not hesitate to argue against their captains if they feel like it's needed, so far Gabán and Zoro have only been shown to do it when they're particularly worried (both shown in chapter 1139), meanwhile Sanji and Rayleigh will scold Luffy-Roger for more mundane stuff as much as when they're worried.

So like outwardly Gabán-Sanji and Zoro-Rayleigh parallels are super obvious but in truth it's a mix because Luffy's crew is not just a copy of Roger's.

(also don't comment by saying that both Rayleigh and Zoro are 1st mate/Vice Captain as a parallel, Oda confirmed in vol. 102's SBS Zoro isn't, which we've been knew but apparently not everyone, anyway the idea of the Strawhats having a 1st mate is just weird when them not caring about hierarchy bc they're a family is so important)

Lucy should get to have a crush on Yosano, as a treat.

She's her favourite customer at the cafe. At first she was too shy to directly talk to Yosano about anything other than her order and couldn't make eye contact without going completely red.

Yosano is one of the prettiest women Lucy has ever seen, smart and confident, she admires the way Yosano walks into any room and looks like she belongs there. Lucy would find herself idly watching Yosano's hands, they're always so well manicured and look like they'd be so soft to hold. The hands of a doctor, they move with skilled purpose, even when just holding her coffee cup.

It was Yosano who started talking to Lucy first. Just casual topics, "Has it been busy today?" type of thing and Lucy nearly fell over herself to answer at first, but it quickly became easier to talk to Yosano. She has such an inviting smile and her laughter is like music to Lucy. Even when Yosano is complaining about her work load, Lucy can't help but be enthralled.

Yosano starts coming in to the cafe more regularly, taking her lunch breaks down there, or stopping in after work. She always sits near Lucy and waits to be served by her. Lucy has her order memorized so they get to talking immediately.

Yosano has invited Lucy out, she suggests they should go shopping together and get lunch out sometime, that way Lucy doesn't have to be distracted by her work whilst they talk. She wants to take Lucy sightseeing, show her more of Yokohama and build up her confidence about living in a new city.

Lucy can't help but feel like half the places Yosano suggests are dating spots, but that must be her imagination. Surely. The compliments Yosano pays her and the way Lucy's also caught Yosano watching her when she thinks she's not looking, must be a coincidence.

I will say that I'm glad the God's Knights aren't all serious bloodthirsty menaces like Gunko and Shamrock. They've got some variety and quirkiness to them the same as any new set of One Piece characters which is going to make their eventual displays of power hit even harder.

Kiringham in particular stands out with both his Devil Fruit and his personality.

He's all but confirmed to have a Kirin mythical zoan, but his hagoromo is pure white. Whereas every zoan user or apparent zoan user allied with the World Government has had a black hagoromo. We even see this most recently with Shamrock's Cerberus.

Meanwhile the awakened users with white hagoromos, Luffy and Yamato, have both been heroic and pure of heart.

Maybe this is hinting that Kiringham is the nicest of the God's Knights, or at least genuinely believes that he's a force for good? We know from the Donquixotes sans Doffy that there's still chances for Celestial Dragons to become good people in spite of the toxicity of their culture.

Between him rushing to duty after oversleeping and marveling at how big Elbaf is without any of the typical Celestial Dragon disdain for 'the lower realm', Kiringham's giving off the vibes of a new hire who hasn't set a single toe outside his backyard.

Perhaps in addition to his drowsiness, his running gag will be getting distracted by everything about the outside world that can't be found in Mariejois. Or he might have an "are we the baddies?" moment when it really sinks in just what they're doing by taking the children of Elbaf.
