last reblog reminded me that i wanted to do a rusame fic that’s just snippets of them killing each other in various ways
let my tell you, i am so deep into this fanfic rn!!! pls take assassin alfred in a bunny suit away from me before i go feral!!!
Why would Alfred speak Diné? Did he learn it from the Navajo Code Talkers from World War II? I hope I’m not sounding rude, I would just like to understand where this headcanon comes from.
it's not rude at all, I actually do want to explain it! especially because the Navajo/Diné Nation was very much on "Mexican land" before "becoming American land".
my hc is that Alfred began learning and speaking Diné Bizaad during the California gold rush, its statehood, and the manifest destiny movement (all events occurring in 1845-55) because his Anglo overseers and settlers wanted him to become familiarized with the American West (I hc he was VEHEMENTLY against it and sabotaged it in every way he could).
he gradually got closer to Diné people altruistically and interacted with their traditions and culture (this is absolutely where he got the custom to smudge-- yall see how much he hates ghosts!!). by the time California, Nevada, Arizona, etc. became states, he was wholly engrained into the Diné community.
his involvement with the Diné Nation did not end there; there was the "finding" of the Grand Canyon by Anglo settlers, the building of the Hoover Dam, and INDUBIOUSLY the diné code talkers. in modern times, he involves himself with the diné community for conservation efforts but most importantly, to celebrate his people (hc that he ever only told the code talkers and n8v elders of his immortality/who he is).
okay... what if we compromise... and say alfred jones is indeed an east coaster... BUT he was born on the west coast? yes or yes?
My secret santa gift for @pinkflipphonez ! Merry christmas, god jul!
evening with my gal pal @ bolshoi theatre! ignore the kissing noises coming from the mezzanine
a scenario that I CANNOT get outta my head:
alfred and ivan are taking a road trip to his dacha in Moscow and during the ride he asks him if he wants to play his own music. alfred is legit offended ivan thinks he doesn't listen to russian music.
he goes "oh I'll play you my favorite Russian song right now!" and he plays American Boy by Kombinaciya. AND HE SINGS IT PERFECTLY. ivan is absolutely flabbergasted -- and to make it worse, alfred rolls the window down and YELLS THE SONG. then at a traffic stop, the people riding next to them begin singing along and alfred is having the TIME OF HIS LIFE while ivan wants to DIE.
🎵 no matter what I do, all I think about is you 🎶
I feel the cordial moments between Russia and America are soooo underrated. Such as the Poltava aka Operation Frantic (the joint US-Soviet base operations in Eastern Europe in WW2), Van Cliburn (the American pianist who won the first International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow), Apollo-Soyuz Space Mission (do you know US & USSR even co-produced commemorative cigarettes), and if we go back in history, there was 1863 when Russia sent fleets to America to show support for the Union (“God bless the Empire that loves the great Union; Strength to her people! Long life to the Czar!”) and when Nicholas I invited American engineers to help build the first railway between St. Petersburg and Moscow, and so on. They share far more history than that meets the eye.
Sorry for my inactivity! I’ve been very busy these past few weeks but since winter break started for me recently I’ll try to upload a bit more often!
Here’s some recent things I’ve done!
1) IxChel (Chichén Itzá) protecting her man Achcauhtli (Aztec) based on that one Kevin Hart meme
2) Art trade with @makwandis , they wanted their Gilbert interacting with Lupe! He’s being scolded for not wearing sunscreen 😅
3) Silly little doodle of Al bothering Lupe inspired by a conversation I had with @pinkflipphonez !
