The Fatherless Pianist

Pianist! Deku (Contains MonoDeku and Hisashi Midoriya is dead)

The Fatherless Pianist

Midoriya knew his dream was unrealistic. He knew that his brains alone wouldn’t assure a spot in UA. Still, it wasn’t impossible. He easily could have it all with a support system and a mentor. Yet, he was absolutely alone. He’d train his mind, pushing his mental and emotional awareness to it’s peak. He understood how the world worked and why people acted the way they do.

He found a peace in violence. He found a feeing of what it was like to be a hero through being bullied. He understood the fight or flight response, the adrenaline rush, the fear, and the impulse of immediately knowing what to do. He understood pain and remaining calm despite his depression, anxiety, and possible ADD issues.

Midoriya found contentment in a random store he saw on his way home through the quiet part of town. The doors were wide open as the sound of a grand piano rang through the bright streets. Midoriya found himself walking right into a beautiful music shop. A lovely woman, soft features with a look of passion, poured her whole body and soul into the chords and notes the piano possessed if touched just right.

Mesmerized, Midoriya stood in the doorway with his fists tightly gripping his book-bag straps. The woman felt his stare and quickly finished her piece and welcomed him.

“Hello! Welcome! How my I help you today?”

Midoriya immediately flushed red, waving his hands urgently. “Sorry! I just heard your playing and I came over here! I’m so sorry if I disrupted you or interrupted your peace! I just thought it was amazing and—!”

The woman let out a airy laugh, motioning for him to sit down. “Nonsense! I barely get any people to enter simply from my music. I’m more than happy to have someone who has a taste for piano.”

Midoriya wilted slightly, looking for the sheet music only to see there was none. “How’d you do that? Play without music?”

“My quirk! I call it Natural Touch! Basically, I’m a natural piano player. I can make a whole piece simply by moving my fingers to however I’m feeling!”

“Wow! Incredible!”

“Indeed it is. I have a feeling the fate brought you here. Now, sit. Let’s find your calling.”

———————————————————————

Two years passed and Midoriya was finally in his third year of junior high. Unfortunately the school year had just started and Midoriya was no where close to having his interaction with the sludge villain and All Might.

Midoriya was quick to clean his desk, wiping off the marker-written graffiti that was nothing more than unoriginal and overused insults with the new cleaner he purchased online. Tossing his bag over his shoulder, Midoriya rushed out of the school in a hurry. He had told the woman who he now called Sae-san he had finished his newest piece.

He had based the entire piece off of the overwhelming intoxication of needing to be perfect. It was like chasing after your dreams and seeing how far away it was but still rushing forward, wonderfully out of breath as you panted. It was almost as if you were running in a endless open field of beautiful flowers and lively green grass as the wind twirled and tugged at your hair. It was the struggle, the fight and pride bubbling in your stomach as you find a motivation inside your gut. It was a long and beautifully painfully journey. Short and swift moments that switched to tedious and serious clashes, the anxiety, and then the run. It was the home stretch where you admire the world around as you make it to the end.

Midoriya saw the beauty. He saw it all. Now he has put it into a beautiful piece to tell the story, to covey the emotions.

Running out the school doors, he failed to see his bullies waiting for him outside. For the group to see Midoriya run, it brought a smirk among their faces as they assumed he was trying to escape a beating. Midoriya was swift on his feet, somewhat similar to a beautiful fox. The group was surprised at his speed and agility. At some points they lost him and could only spot him when he was rushing through a long open area.

About three corners away from his destination, the bullies lost Midoriya. Frustrated, they settled on beating him up first thing the next time they saw him. Deciding that they could just hang out since they were all together, the group wandered around the area seeing all the small shops.

Soon, they arrived on the same block as the music shop, Midoriya’s location. Unaware of Midoriya’s presence, they mindlessly bought some snacks at a small convince store. As soon as they left the store, they sat down on a bench right outside the music store.

The bully with hideous long grey hair almost spat out his drink when he looked into the window only to see Midoriya. This, of course, caught the attention of Bakugo and the black haired douchebag. The other two looked just as surprised to see Midoriya.

Bakugo smirked as he went to get up. “Found you, worthless fucker!”

Holding Bakugo back by his arm, the black haired bully didn’t even spare a glance to the blond. “Hold up. Deku is fucking going to play the piano?”

“No fucking way,” snorted the grey haired idiot.

Bakugo lowered himself back onto the bench, a psychotic smile worn on his face. “Oh, this is gonna be pathetic!”

The two nodded in agreement watching. Suddenly a beautiful woman rushed over with a chair. Midoriya seemed surprised by her excitement, letting out a squeaking noise. The woman let out an airy laugh as he clapped.

Just like on the fateful day Midoriya met her, the windows were wide open along with the front door. The sun was shining bright as the sky was a beautiful shade of blue. Fluffy, lively clouds offered periodic moments of shade that came and went as they pleased.

Midoriya seemed to realize something as he shot up from where he was sitting and rushed behind the counter. The woman watched with a patient smile, unbothered. Midoriya returned holding a stack of papers.

The woman looked up at him in amazement. “Is... is this the sheet music?”

Midoriya eagerly nodded, handing the sheets to her. The woman was quickly to pull the pages apart and lay them out. He paused when she was dividing post-it notes. She gasped harshly as she stared at the nervous boy standing over her.

“Are these overlapping one another?”

Midoriya shyly nodded, motioning to the post-its. “Yes. Using a layering device, each of these chords will be overlapping and progressively being played over one another. After so many counts, the new layer will be able to be taken.”

The woman gasped, scooping up all the papers and cheering out in pure joy. “Genius! You’re amazing! Adding and removing layers to create a passionate and climaxing piece! The “building-up” style will be a moving one!”

Midoriya shook his head, waving his hands. “Well— yes! That was the whole goal but I wouldn’t call it genius! Besides, I wouldn’t ever be as amazing as you!”

“Having a quirk has absolutely nothing to do with talent and skill. You are a wonderful person and I’m grateful to have you be a part of my life. Now... play,” the woman nudged, resting a hand on Midoriya’s shoulder.

Midoriya nodded sitting down onto the bench. The woman looked at the papers before extending them out. “Do you need these?”

Midoriya offered a warm smile. “Nope. I actually printed them off just for you.”

The lady chuckled, holding them close. “Of course, I shouldn’t have expected any less of you than to memorize the piece by heart.”

Midoriya connected his device to piano and made sure it was working. After quickly changing a setting, Midoriya finally nodded and started the countdown. Nodding his head to the tempo he prepared his hands.

Taking a quick breath he started to play.

Simply tapping one note before randomly throwing in another for a while almost brought the bystanders to laughter. Midoriya picked up his hands as the notes continued the play while he quickly moved his fingers to add a layer. The process repeated, and repeated, and repeated.

The woman seemed just as stunned as his bullies. Their jaws hung low as Midoriya passionately played, eyes occasionally opening as he smiled. The wind picked up as the sun almost magically came out from the clouds, blinding everyone with Midoriya’s beauty and power.

The woman closed her eyes, body swaying to the music as he allowed herself to feel. She felt the struggles, the fear, the flight, and the childish excitement of his existence.

Midoriya suddenly cut off multiple layers with the single tap of his foot on an electronic pedal and was beginning to relayer all over again. It was a beautiful mess of emotion invoking chords and jumbles of notes.

The group of bullies hadn’t moved an inch, too entranced to do much of anything. They felt his music, his mind, his passion. It was oddly uplifting yet leaving them in a drowning feeling. The way Midoriya’s messy curly hair was picked up and tossed in the wind as his eyes were gently closed as his body pushed and occasionally ground forward with power. His head bowed and rolled to the music as every ounce of himself was the piece.

Finally he came to a stop before taking a deep breath and opening his eyes. Suddenly a present voice caught everyone off guard.

“Can I please take you out on a date?” a voice desperately asked.

Midoriya jumped, his whole body turning to see who had said such a thing to him even he already knew who. An average looking guy with short blond hair and blue eyes stood in the doorway with a smirk. He was wearing a stylish polo with some black ripped jeans. In his hand was a plastic bag.

Midoriya sighed, excusing himself from the shop owner. “Neito, why bother? I already told you—!”

“That I can’t like you because you’re quirkless. Unfortunately you can’t tell me who I can like. So I’m here to forcefully take you out on a date. First, I have some offerings.”

Midoriya couldn’t help but smile as he made his way over to Monoma. “What is it now?”

Monoma opened the bag and first pulled out a small object. “Hold out your hands.”

Midoriya raised a brow, hesitantly holding out his hands. Monoma quickly put the object in Midoriya’s hands only to reveal a beautiful crystal. Looking at it, Midoriya suddenly made the connection.

“Are you trying to woo me like penguins do?”

“Yes. Next.”

Midoriya waited patiently as Monoma carefully reached a hand into the plastic bag. Midoriya found himself growing nervous when Monoma started pulling his hand up, out of the bag. Holding a box he quickly got down on one knee and revealed a ring.

“Marry me!”

Midoriya stared at the boy blankly, watching the eager look in Monoma’s eyes as he looked as if he was about to shatter the box in his hand. Midoriya’s moment of shock passed and genuine embarrassment and joy rushed through him.

“Neito! We are 14! We can’t get married!”

Neito stood up, still holding the ring. “I don’t care! You’re a goddess and I’d be damned if I didn’t claim you!”

Midoriya couldn’t help but roll his head back as he was gasping for air. “Oh my god! You’re like a possessive puppy, that’s so cute!”

“Hey! It’s romantic and I won you over with the crystal!” Monoma declared as he took the ring out of the box.

The shop owner walked over with a large smile. “Consider it a promise ring if engagement ring doesn’t suit your fancy. Monoma, tell him the ring is a symbol of your love for him and your plans to marry him."

Midoriya gasped in betrayal, looking at the woman. “Nagisa! How could you!”

The woman, now known as Nagisa, laughed, “You need a boyfriend, girlfriend, anyone. Besides, I like this one, he’s a bit of a brat but isn’t scared to show his affection. You need someone like that.”

Midoriya crossed his arms, looking at Monoma stubbornly. “Well, I don’t know why you keep coming back. I’ve turned you down every time for the about the past half year. Why would you waste so much time on trying to win someone like me over?”

Bakugo was officially broken, his eyes wide as he was about to explode the soda tightly gripped in his hands. His lackeys on the other hand were trying to hide their guilt due to seeing the effect their actions have had on Midoriya. By hiding their guilt, it was more like stuffing their face with chips while watching the scene before them as if this was the best entertainment they’ve ever seen in years.

Honestly, it was unsettling for them all to see Midoriya be the one rejecting advances. They were especially surprised to see him openly say he was quirkless and Monoma ignore Midoriya’s explanations.

Monoma dramatically took Midoriya’s wrist and held the ring close to Midoriya’s face. “This ring is a symbol of my love for you and my plans to marry you. Whether or not you accept it, I want you to know that you are a dream. God, I couldn’t even imagine someone as perfect as you. Pretty, yet talented and dedicated. Shameless per say.”

Midoriya was breathless as the ring was slipped onto his finger. The words gently but sternly spoken to him seemed to sink deep. Midoriya felt relief wash over him as tears just started falling down his face. The two watching him sudden burst into tears freaked out, worried they upset him or went too far.

Midoriya laughed as he cried, ignoring the fact Monoma hadn’t been able to fully slip on the ring. “You idiot! Don’t talk like that.”

Monoma realized it was tears of... not a negative emotion and smirked. “Oh? But it’s true. I will marry you!”

Midoriya rolled his eyes, wiping his tears. “Alright. Then you’re willing to meet my parents then?”

Nagisa, who was now cackling, lowered herself to the ground. “Oh my god! This is why I love you Izuku!”

Monoma took a deep breath before standing in a “power pose”.

“Yes! I will do it! I will get their blessing.”

Midoriya nodded, walking to his book bag and digging inside it. Walking back over he held up a necklace with an odd shaped charm on it.

“Neito, meet my dad. Dad, meet Neito.”

Nagisa must have seen it coming as she started blasting disco music. Neito looked horrified while Midoriya smugly held up a necklace containing his fathers ashes.

Bakugo and the bullies felt their hearts stop as they’ve bullied someone who’s lost their father. To make it worse, they probably bullied him the day he found out his father died and throughout the course of him trying to cope with it.

Neito immediately panicked. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t know that—!”

Midoriya waved his hand, ignoring the apology. “Lighten up. It was last year and I never met the asshole. We just got permission to have him buried over here after being cremated so me and mom just took some ashes to keep.”

Nagisa walked back over, holding a water bottle. “Yeah, I remember you coming in one day with a disappointed face. All you ever said was “my dad died before I even got to meet him. He just died. I’m literally thirteen.”

Neito seemed to chipper up, a genuine smile on his face as he looked as the necklace Midoriya was holding. “Just wondering... why don’t you wear it? You have it on a necklace.”

Midoriya shrugged, putting it into his bookbag. “Well, my bullies would probably take it from me and destroy it. They don’t really consider what I posses, they just want to ruin it.”

“How? Why? You’re amazing! What is wrong with those assholes?” Neito gasped harshly, his hands gesturing to sculpt Midoriya’s body.

Midoriya shrugged, finally admiring the ring. “I don’t know. They’ve all just treated me that way after I came out quirkless. I just don’t carry anything important on with me anymore.”

“So you won’t be wearing my ring?” Neito frowned, looking at the ring.

Midoriya smiled, taking his necklace and adding ring to the chain. Clasping the back of the necklace, Midoriya cheerfully held it up to show Monoma.

“See! I’ll always have it. Although, I will probably wear it all the time outside of school,” Midoriya suggested his plan.

Monoma smugly put his hands on his hips, pleased. Midoriya got nervous at that look, preparing himself. Monoma lunged at Midoriya, swooping the boy up and hauling him up bridal style.

“Bye, Nagisa! Im taking my fiancé out on a date.”

Midoriya shouted, reaching out for Nagisa. “We aren’t engaged!”

“You didn’t refuse my date proposal,” Monoma proudly pointed out.

Midoriya deflated, allowing himself to be carried out the store by Monoma. Nagisa happily escorted the two out before quickly telling Midoriya to play the piece for her again later. Midoriya rolled his eyes, agreeing to it as he was taken out of the store.

Midoriya sighed, looking up at Monoma. “Could you set me down?”

Monoma stopped walking, looking at Midoriya, “As long as you let me hold your hand.”

Midoriya couldn’t help but smile, looking up at Monoma. “Deal.”

Once Midoriya was back on his feet, he took off his uniform shirt to reveal a slim-fit solid red bishop long-sleeve tee. It was tucked into his pants and matched his res shoes. Throwing the uniform top into his bag, he turned to smile at Monoma.

“I just had to get off that uniform top. I wish I had planned on going out, otherwise I would’ve brought a full change of clothes. Anyway, lead the way!” Midoriya turned to flash a warm smile at the boy he was now dating.

Monoma couldn’t help but stare at Midoriya momentarily, grateful for the boy he finally achieved winning over. Taking the boys hand, Monoma smirked.

“Alright, you better get prepared. I’m about to take you out on the best first date ever.”

Midoriya smugly raised a brow, slightly squeezing back Monoma’s hand before walking forward to signal it was time to move. “Well, I’m waiting.”

Midoriya officially had caught each of his bullies by surprised. In more ways than one. All three felt anger. The problem about that was that they weren’t sure who it was directed at. Either way, Midoriya scored a sexy boyfriend and the envy of his stubborn bullies that refused to accept his success.

And the Room Falls Silent

For kids, turning four was the year that would make or break them. In a hero-based society, quirks dictated worth.

Izuku’s life was considered over the moment he was confirmed to be quirkless. After losing everyone who cared for him and being bullied by those he was close with for everything he said or did, Izuku shut down.

Izuku developed symptoms of a severe social phobia at the ripe age of six. Inko was shattered, watching as her brilliant and bright child faded away. Not only did she start getting reports from the school that Izuku wasn’t speaking at all, he no longer talked with her.

Midoriya pointed and shook his head to speak. With the silence, Izuku started to cry a lot more. Despite all of that, Izuku did technically speak every day. It was only one phrase. Inko could barely hear it with Izuku's face buried in her shoulder.

“I love you, Mom.”

Izuku never left the house and strayed far away from the playground after he returned home with bruises one eventful day. Inko didn’t want him to leave anyways. Inko felt better knowing he was safe at home. Even after Izuku went completely mute at six, he still had aspirations to become a hero. He continued his hobby of writing in his notebooks and buying All Might merchandise.

Izuku's shut-in habits carried on for the rest of elementary all the way through middle school. Izuku had no friends and he didn’t bother trying to pursue having a social life. Having no distractions allowed him to focus on school. He had the highest score in his class for a reason. He often tied with Katsuki for first place in terms of intelligence. Katsuki didn’t like that.

Even if Izuku admired Katsuki from afar, he never let his biggest bully notice. Izuku avoided Katsuki to the best of his ability. Even if Izuku made effort to stay away, Katsuki chased. He'd never admit it, but he stalked Izuku.

Katsuki hadn't planned on spying on Izuku in the beginning. He assumed Izuku was ignoring him to act higher than him. Then it turned into spying. It was a shock to Katsuki after following Izuku, to find seeing that he refused to speak to anyone. If necessary, he’d use sign language to convey a message or write it down.

Once it became clear to Katsuki that Izuku was mute and not ignoring him, the situation shifted a bit. Suddenly he waited for the moment when he'd hear Midoriya's voice again. He wanted to know if it deepened or if it was still high-pitched and girly. Soon it sank in that he'd most likely never hear Midoriya's voice again.

In most of their classes, when you were called on, you answered the question on the board. You didn’t have to really say it out loud unless it was necessary for the subject matter. Izuku was able to get through school with close to no problems. He endured the bullying and pushed forward.

Inko had done her best to help. She tried everything in the book: speech therapy and child psychologists, and she sought out a pediatrician. Not much could be done. She tried all the tricks they offered her: shaping, self-modeling, and the list goes on.

It became clear the trigger of it was bullying and the traumatizing experience he endured at the ripe age of four. His dreams were shattered and everyone turned their back on him at a time when he needed support the most.

Izuku did see a therapist to open up about his bullying, but still only ever used sign language. When Izuku was being confronted by his bullies (classmates and teachers) he never once spoke. He had no desire to be a part of the world that surrounded him. He enjoyed submerging himself in the quiet.

Despite the odds, Izuku managed to save Katsuki from the sludge villain and impress Toshinori. Izuku had spoken to Toshinori, feeling safe and excited enough to use his words. Just like that, Izuku was on his way to obtaining the most power quirk to currently exist.

Izuku built a really strong bond with Toshinori, discussing his life and how he was selectively mute. Toshinori was grateful Izuku opened up about his life. While Izuku dedicated ten months to training from U.A. Toshinori dedicated ten months to learning sign language. While he didn’t have to use it to speak to Izuku, he wanted to make it easy for Izuku to talk to him.

Izuku probably had no one in his life that he could easily talk to by using sign. Izuku most likely had to write everything out for people to understand. It wasn’t ideal when he was Izuku’s mentor.

Izuku makes it into U.A. High and kept to himself. On the first day Uraraka thanked Midoriya for saving her. Iida greeted Izuku, beyond impressed with Izuku’s bravery. Izuku made it known he was mute, but he could hear. While it didn’t make them hate him, it kinda created a barrier in terms of communication. Everyone was beyond nice, but Izuku didn’t really click with anyone.

Being the current wielder of One for All, Izuku took control of how to handle his quirk development. As a result, Izuku was more open with Aizawa. He explained that he didn’t have a lot of experience with his quirk. His body had to become strong enough to withstand the tole his quirk would have on him. Aizawa recognized that Izuku had spent his time preparing for his quirk since he couldn’t train something he legitimately couldn’t use.

Aizawa was the second person to earn Izuku’s trust. Izuku still didn’t say more than a few words and he didn't speak to Aizawa if others were present. No other teachers or students had heard Midoriya’s voice.

Kirishima and Todoroki were the first two to hear Midoriya’s voice out of the class. Katsuki was also there, but it was the first time he’d heard Izuku speak since he was six.

It was during the USJ attack. Izuku leaped into action to save Toshinori.

“You stupid villain!”

If it hadn’t been in the heat of the moment, the three would’ve been more surprised by him speaking rather than the fact Izuku was about to die. Katsuki was undeniably unnerved. He was so used to the idea of Izuku’s voice still being exactly how it was nine years ago. It really got to him when Izuku’s voice was significantly deeper and he sounded so angry you could hear the words ripping through his vocal cords.

Then the sports festival came around, it went smoothly at the start. Izuku won the first event, had a great group during the second event, and was now in the final event. Izuku was against Shinso first. Ojiro was very aware Izuku was mute, but he was now aware Izuku could speak if he chose to. After filling in Izuku about Shinso’s ability to brainwash a person once they speak, Izuku thanked Ojiro. It meant a lot to him for Ojiro to seek Midoriya out to help him.

When the round started, Shinso went on a tangent. Izuku listened but ignored the anger that brewed in his gut. Shinso may have been saying those things simply to provoke Izuku, but it was extremely disrespectful for his life story to be assumed by someone he never met before.

Izuku had to fight quirkless considering he could really hurt Shinso if he used his quirk. He couldn't control his output so there was a slim chance he could kill Shinso. So they duked it out. It didn’t take too long for Izuku to knock Shinso out of bounds.

When going against Todoroki, Izuku knew what he was dealing with. Todoroki had told Izuku about his reasons for not using his second quirk: fire.

Midoriya understood what Todoroki was feeling. The effects of how he was treated by being quirkless resulted in a long list of problems. Izuku couldn’t begin to imagine the effects abuse had on him, not to mention the dysfunctional family not providing any help.

Izuku saw past all of that and knew Todoroki needed help. While he wasn’t going to throw away the competition, he wasn’t going to let Todoroki struggle either.

Izuku found himself yelling at Todoroki. Izuku wanted to test the waters, but ultimately just had to push Todoroki’s buttons. Despite the pain both Todoroki and Izuku were enduring from their battle. This match was a lot more than just winning the sports festival.

Then came workplace internships to gain experience. Hosu was under attack and the Stain incident occurred. Izuku managed to become a “true hero” alongside All Might. It was impressive considering Izuku is the second person Stain has claimed to be a true hero. The situation brought Izuku, Todoroki, and Iida closer together.

When final exams rolled around, working with Katsuki to go against Toshinori was a strange situation. Katsuki was still beyond temperamental. Everyone knew the two didn’t along and Katsuki was still hostile towards Izuku. The fight was brutal and the two teens had their air knocked out of their lungs more times than they could count.

Izuku still had yet to speak directly to Katsuki. Katsuki overheard Izuku talking, but Izuku still hadn’t spoken to Katsuki. Imagine his surprise when he is punched in his puke-covered face by Izuku to hear his yelling.

“Don’t you dare say you’d rather lose!”

The final exams ended and summer arrived. Summer would've gone great yet their "summer vacation: went horribly wrong. The league of villains decided to ambush the teens.

Izuku hadn't spoken the entire trip until he was alone with Kota. He hated seeing Kota give up on the world just like he did. After all the child was only five. In hopes to change Kota’s fate, he spoke up.

“If you reject it that harshly, the only person getting hurt is yourself,” explained Izuku, patient with the kid who had an explosive personality like Katsuki.

While Kota didn’t react well to Izuku’s advice, he was enraptured by Izuku’s voice. When he kicked Midoriya in the balls, Mandalay shunned him but also revealed Midoriya was mute.

Muscular appears and he is out for blood. Muscular tried to kill Kota and Izuku was not going to let it happen. In a fit of panic and rage, Izuku screamed out. Seeing Kota use his quirk in desperation ignited a fire in him.

“As if… I’d let you kill him!”

Not even moments later, Katsuki was kidnapped and in the midst of despair, Izuku couldn’t stop the scream that echoed through the forest. That also didn’t stop his scream that conjoined with the crowds in the final battle between All Might and All for One. It seemed as if the world was coming back together just to fall apart again.

During the provisional hero license exam, Izuku once again had to scream. It was targeted at Todoroki and Yoarashi for almost getting Shindo killed.

“Dammit! What are you two doing!”

Izuku’s blunt choice of words helped the two get their asses back into order and focus on the mission at hand. Soon enough the provisional hero license exam ended and the results were in.

While Todoroki and Katsuki were away for their required remedial course, Izuku would face his biggest battle yet. Alongside the big three, a handful of his classmates, and some pro heroes, Izuku was to rescue a wonderful girl name Eri and help defeat the villain Overhaul.

Izuku was a lot more vocal in this fight for Eri’s sake. Despite his mind holding him back at the thought of others hearing, he shut it down and kept his focus on Eri. Nothing matter except saving Eri. Calling out to Eri was the most freeing and horribly exhilarating thing.

After recovery and returning back to school, it was time to prepare for the school festival. For a bit, things were perfect. Izuku could fall back into the shadows and relax. He didn’t have to speak and could enjoy time with Mirio and Eri.

Eri was amazed that Izuku was selectively mute. That meant she was super special for Izuku to have spoken to her. Izuku was fond of her reaction, flashing her a bright smile.

One weekend class 1-A wanted to go to the mall. Aizawa decided it was also the perfect time to show Eri the outside world. Eri stuck with Izuku, missing him from not seeing him much after the school festival.

Todoroki and Katsuki for some odd reason were the two that wandered around Izuku. You could blame their curiosity on Eri. She was stuck on his hip yet they had no idea how she knew Izuku. The mission Izuku was a part of was confidential.

Things never went smoothly with class 1-A. Aizawa had taken Eri for a bit while Izuku went to the bathroom. Despite his keen eye, Aizawa lost Eri. Izuku knew something fishy was happening. The last time he was in the mall, he was attacked by Shigaraki.

Half of the class stayed inside the mall while the other half was to observe the outside in case she wandered off far. Izuku, Todoroki, and Katsuki are stationed outside. Izuku was on the top floor of the mall, running around on the catwalk.

Izuku has no clue where to look or what to do. The panic settled in and people were everywhere. While everything in his head is screaming at him to return to the quiet and retreat, Izuku talked a deep breath and calls out into the world.

“Eri-chan!”

Izuku was turning around in circles, his mind reeling at the fact she could be anywhere. Todoroki and Katsuki heard Izuku call out and started head over. While they were trying to get to Izuku, Izuku spotted something out of the ordinary.

A car was approaching. Whoever was at the wheel drove sporadically. Taking a look at the diver, he immediately recognized the man as a villain. Seeing no one was in the car, Izuku went to work.

Stepping onto the railing, Izuku jumped off and down a level. Izuku ran forward, launching himself down the building. Once reaching the ground, Izuku landed right before the speeding car. Katsuki was blasting his way over, screaming for Izuku to get out of the way. From his view, the driver was now trying to swerve out of the way, but they weren’t going to make it.

Todoroki was sending out ice, trying to build an ice barrier between Izuku and the car. Despite their worries, Izuku had it under control. Izuku turned away from the car, drew back his leg, and t-boned the car with a single kick.

Katsuki and Todoroki stilled, seeing Izuku demolish the car with ease. When the two caught up to Izuku, they soon realized this was going to be the getaway driver. Moments later Aizawa alerts everyone Eri was found and the villain was arrested. Todoroki informs Aizawa about what happened and another police officer was sent their way.

Izuku and Eri were reunited. Eri jumped into Izuku’s arms and Izuku rested her on his hip. When the police came for a statement, Izuku grabbed a pen and wrote it down. He was not in the mood to talk.

Todoroki had no problem with Izuku’s silence and sighed to himself. “I thought you were going to die back there.”

“Yeah! What the hell was that nerd! Trying to get yourself killed?” shouted Katsuki.

Izuku smirked at the two before shrugging and walking away with Eri. While Katsuki was left standing there with a pissed frown, Todoroki mindlessly followed after his friend with a smile.

Silence was a bitch.

The end!

Cleaning Out The Refridgerator

Izuku never knew a life without his mother. It was always Inko and Izuku against the world. Izuku never once met his father Hisashi and he couldn’t bring himself to care.

Inko was everything Izuku needed and without her being at the forefront of his life, he’d never become the person he was. It was all thanks to his mother.

Inko died at the age of sixty. It was out of the blue and she had died of a heart attack. Izuku was only thirty-five. The day he got the call his mother had died was the worst day of his life.

His hero work kept him busy and he rarely got days off. Whenever Izuku managed to get the time, he’d always have dinner dates with his mother. It was clear Inko had appreciated those little moments together.

They’d cook together, catch up on life, and just cuddle for hours. They felt like the time they shared always slipped away and those moments felt so short even if they spent the whole day together.

Izuku and Katsuki got married at the young age of 20. They didn’t want to waste a moment and desired to experience all life had to offer.

When they were sixteen, they watched the other die. They knew how fragile and short life could be. Death was promised and they wanted to enjoy the life they had left.

Holidays and celebrations were always a grand event. Inko and Mitsuki would often hang out together, but having their family members join them for a party was an exhilarating experience. Every day, every moment, was lived to the fullest.

Izuku could say there was so much more he wished he could have experienced with his mother, but he was satisfied with the time he did have with his mother.

It didn’t make things any better, but having no regrets was something that made Izuku grieve his loss without any guilt laced with it. Izuku could miss the amazing woman Inko was and miss his perfect mother.

For months, Izuku was inconsolable. Katsuki did everything in his power to help Izuku through Inko’s death, but he couldn’t imagine the pain Izuku was going through. Katsuki loved Inko dearly, but he didn’t know what it was like to lose his mother. Katsuki didn’t even want to imagine a life without Mitsuki.

It was a random Friday when Mitsuki had invited Izuku over to have some tea and talk. It was nice to just talk to someone who cherished Inko just as much.

Mitsuki was crying, hugging Izuku. “I ran out of her pickled daikon radish! I don’t know what to do!”

Izuku paused, feeling something click in his mind. Even if Inko was no longer with him, there was something she did that no random person in the world could mimic. Inko’s cooking and baking were inimitable. The only person on the planet who could make Inko’s recipe was Izuku.

Izuku pulled back, his hands resting on Mitsuki’s shoulders. “I’ll make you some!”

Mitsuki’s eyes widen, blinking away her tears in surprise. “Really? You’d do that for me?”

“Yes, I’d love to make it for you,” reassured Izuku, his face filled with an excitement he hadn’t felt in a long time.

Mitsuki seemed to melt, relief flooding her. “Thank you, Izuku. I can’t wait to taste it!”

Izuku grinned, quickly hugging Mitsuki again. “You won’t be able to tell I made it, trust me.”

The next day rolled around and a beautiful Saturday greeted Izuku. Izuku threw himself up and took over the kitchen. The windows were opened and the morning breeze lulled Izuku into a peaceful rhythm.

The sunlight warmed his skin, matching the warmth his heart felt while making the same food Inko happily prepared him when he was a child.

Katsuki walked over and instantly spotted the mess. Shaking his head with a small smile, Katuski made his way over. Wrapping his arms around Izuku’s waist, Katsuki pressed a tender kiss to Izuku’s temple. “What are you getting into?”

“Just cleaning out the fridge,” fibbed Izuku, knowing Katsuki wasn’t going to buy it.

“Sure and I’m not your husband,” remarked Katsuki, giving Izuku a gentle squeeze.

Izuku sat down the knife before turning around to hug Katsuki. “I’m making some pickled radish for your mother.”

Katsuki paused before a look of recognition crossed his face. “She’s probably over the moon knowing you can keep supplying her addiction. She’s obsessed with Inko’s pickled food for as long as I remember.”

“Yeah, I can’t believe I was so depressed I forgot that I can remake all the foods my mom made by heart,” chuckled Izuku, snuggling into Katsuki’s secure hold.

“Anything I can do to help?” questioned Katsuki, knowing the answer was going to be no, but he wanted to check anyway.

Izuku shook his head before pecking Katsuki on the lips. “Nope. This is quick and easy to make.”

Katsuki nodded before releasing Izuku. “I’ll leave you to it.”

Within thirty minutes, Katsuki heard a loud thumping in the kitchen. Rushing out, Katsuki watched as Izuku jumped in place, filled with excitement as he was chewing. Katsuki sank in relief upon witnessing the childlike joy written in Izuku’s expression and bouncing.

Izuku spotted Katsuki staring and quickly shoved the pickled radish into Katsuki’s mouth. Katsuki immediately could tell why Izuku was so excited. The crunchy yellow radish tasted exactly like the kind he had eaten his entire life. It was identical to Inko’s.

Izuku knew that if he kept making food that tasted identical to his mother’s, he’d never stop eating. If food was how he planned to keep his mother alive, he’d happily eat each meal like it would be his last.

“Good job, Izuku. It’s perfect,” complimented Katsuki, diving in for more.

“It’s so wonderful,” cried Izuku, following his husband's lead and eating more.

Inko may be gone, but for the rest of Izuku’s life, he’d never have to live a day without her beautiful, one-of-a-kind meals. Inko showed her love through food and Izuku would forever be grateful that homemade meals will forever be their thing. Even after death.

Holding an Unconscious Body

Izuku is a badass and Katsuki develops a crush

Izuku always had long hair. It was never longer nor shorter than an inch past his shoulders. His hair was fluffy and curly. The longer his hair grew out, the more the black and green mixed.

Izuku sported bans along with a half-up, half-down look. The chunk in the back would be pinned back. The pin Izuku used never changed as days, weeks, months, and years passed.

It wasn’t until Izuku entered Aldera Junior High that the pin caught people’s attention. Many of the people with long hair thought the hairstyle was very pretty. It suited Izuku very well making him stand out amongst the crowd.

Tejio, one of Izuku’s main bullies had the “great” idea of ripping it from Izuku’s hair. He ran over to his buddies, Katsuki and Hifumi, with a wicked smile. He explained his plan and even though the two had a bad feeling about it, they encouraged the act.

The bell rang, dismissing the students for their lunch break. Tejio waited still Izuku was getting up to rip it out. Katsuki and Hifumi stood near him while wearing shit-eating grins. Tazawa reached out and tugged.

The clip came out along with some of Izuku’s hair. Izuku yelped, hand instantly raising to touch the place where the pin had been. Tejio, Katsuki, and Hifumi laughed. They truly thought what they did was funny. The commotion caught the attention of the remaining students in the room. Some stood around to be entertained while others felt horrible for Izuku.

In a flash, Izuku spun around and tightly gripped Tejio's hand. More specifically, Izuku grabbed the hand that contained his hairpin. Tejio struggled against the grip and let out a nervous chuckle as he attempted to break free of Izuku’s grasp.

“What the hell? Let go you freak,” spat Tejio, shocked that Izuku’s hold was hurting him.

Izuku’s eyes were filled with pure wrath. In a flash, Izuku cracked Tejio in the face. Izuku’s punch was vicious and unforgiving. It struck Tejio right in the nose and a loud crunch was heard upon contact. Tejio's hand suddenly fell limp and Izuku snatched the hairpin.

Aonuma fell to the ground, unconscious. Izuku sneered at him as he swiftly put the pin back in his head.

“Piece of shit.”

Izuku rubbed his knuckles before looking at his shell-shocked classmates. The main reaction was fear. Then there were a couple of looks of surprise. Upon registering what happened, some looked impressed while some trembled at the violence. The sight of blood made them realize their stomachs were, in fact, not made out of steel.

Katsuki had his hands stuffed in his pockets. His focus was on holding back laughter as he stared down at his unconscious "friend". He knew how Izuku got about some of his belongings. It was clear the hairpin was held to the same importance as his hero merchandise.

Katsuki knew that when he threw Izuku's notebook out the window, he was pushing it. While he wanted to laugh, he also was quite unnerved. Izuku knocked out Tejio with a single punch and has the grip of a god. Izuku was strong.

Izuku dusted off his uniform before bending down and scooping Tejio up. Carrying the unconscious boy in his arms bridal style, Izuku sent a bone-chilling glare at the group.

“Do not touch my hairpin. Next time, I won’t give you the pleasure of knocking you out,” threatened Izuku, giving Katsuki and Hifumi a clear warning.

Izuku walked out with Tejio in his arms and took him to the nurse. This resulted in most people doing double-takes. Izuku picked his bully up as if he was a couple of grapes. That was an unnerving thought. They couldn’t understand where this strength came from. In gym class, he never seemed to stand out. Suddenly he was this strong, quiet, nerdy, badass out of nowhere.

Katsuki watched, not too shocked Izuku picked up Tejio. If Izuku wanted to get into U.A. he clearly needed some strength. Yet he couldn’t help but be surprised by Midoriya picking Tejio up so easily.

It wasn't until a week later that Katsuki cornered Izuku alone. "Deku."

"Kacchan?" uttered Izuku quietly.

"Punch me," demanded Katsuki bluntly, his face just as serious as usual.

Izuku's eyes widened as his jaw went slack. He dramatically gasped, "What? No! I'd never hit you!"

Katsuki smirked, getting in Izuku's face. "How about I steal that pretty hairpin of yours then?"

Izuku's eyes narrowed in seconds as he prepared to fight. "Do not touch it," seethed Izuku. As soon as anger crossed his face, it disappeared as a rosiness appeared in his cheeks. "Wait? You think it's pretty?"

"Shut the hell up nerd!" sneered Katsuki, his hand reaching out to snatch the pin out of reflex.

Izuku suddenly reached his hand behind Katsuki's head, grabbed a handful of his hair from the roots, and pulled. Katsuki's head flew back from the tug and he felt a foot pressed against his stomach with another foot behind his feet.

Knocked onto his ass, Katsuki stared up at a beautiful mess.

Izuku's hair was a hot mess, but it was really attractive. His hair gained so much more volume and it really suited Izuku's head shape. It didn't help that Izuku looked ready to attack Katsuki.

Katsuki happily held the hairpin in his hand, looking up at this new version of his quirkless loser. Izuku's eyes widened at the sight of Katsuki and suddenly the nerd was on his knees beside him.

"Kacchan! Your nose is bleeding!" yelped Izuku as he quickly snatched the pin back and slipped it into his hair.

"Do that again."

F***ing Chair

F***ing Chair

Izuku was best friends with his guidance counselor. Inko knew about Izuku’s mental health and Izuku had no problem speaking his mind. Izuku had been hospitalized on a number of occasions because he told Inko. The guidance counselor was aware of Izuku being open with his mom which lowered the stress of betraying Izuku’s trust.

Izuku was incredibly depressed and struggled to cope with the bullying. Being able to wear a facade all day was exhausting as well. It was nice to walk into the counselor’s office and vent. While Izuku was open, he did hide it around his mother. He didn’t want her to worry more than she already was. Seeing the school counselor was the only option considering therapy was far too expensive.

Izuku had Major Depressive Disorder, Social Phobia, Attention Deficit Disorder, and was showing signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder more and more with every encounter of bullying he endured. It was clear the physical and mental abuse he received day in and day out didn’t help. There was no escape when he came home. Cyberbullying was just as severe.

During lunch, milk had been pored all over Izuku. Much to everyones shock, Izuku slammed his book shut and stormed out of the cafeteria. Katsuki scowled, irritated by Izuku’s dramatic reaction. The brown haired bully jumped, not expecting the retaliation. The other bully watched him leave, bewhildered before smirking.

“Let’s get him while he’s in the locker room!”

Katsuki didn’t have a problem with it, wanting to put Izuku back in his place. The other bully tagged along, lauging about how he was going to mock Izuku. They chased after him.

When Izuku’s three bullies spotted him down the hall, his shoulders were tensed, a milk trail following him. His book bag was in one hand and his notebook in the other. There was something about the aura he was radiating that made them uneasy. Midoriya stormed right up to the guidance counselor’s office, threw open the door and let it out.

“Do you know how much I want to fucking pick up a fucking chair and smash it across their fucking face?”

Katsuki stopped in his tracks, eyes wide in surprise. That went straight to his dick.

“Shit. Izuku’s told on us?” whispered the long-finger bully.

“That’s what you’re worried about? He sounds like he wants to kill us,” exasperated the brown haired bully.

Katsuki had more concerns than that. In that split second, he came to the realization he knew nothing about Izuku. He didn’t know Izuku cursed. He never would’ve guessed Izuku got angry. Katsuki wondered if Izuku already was telling the adults at school, was he telling Inko? In a matter of seconds, he realized his entire future lies in Izuku’s hands. Something about that made him oddly hot, feeling flustered by the information.

The guidance counselor didn’t even sound surprised by his outburst. “Oh I know you do. Thankfully you didn’t do it.”

Izuku took a sharp breath before slamming the door behind him. The building shook from the force of the slam, causing the three to share a stunned look. They all crept to the door to listen, needing to know more.

“I’m leaving my stuff here. I’m going to the showers and I’ll be back. I’m skipping next period,” informed Izuku. His tone was sharp, unsteady, and clearly still holding a lot of rage.

The counselor shook her head, fixing her notebook’s position on the desk. “Very well. I’ll try and dry off your things while you clean up.”

“Thank you.”

“No problem kid.”

The bullies booked it to a janitors closet down the hall to avoid getting caught. Izuku came out a couple seconds later, fingers flying on the keypads on his phone. When he disappeared down the hall, the group chose to part their separate ways and head to class.

Katsuki sat at his desk with a scowl. He was frustrated by his feelings. As much as he wanted to hate Midoriya and unleash his rage to make up for extreme weakness he was feeling, he truly didn’t want to. There was some deep fondness resonating within him. He was terrified and that excited him.

Izuku reappeared a period later with a drained expression. His hair was dry, his clothes were completely changed, and his bag and notebook looked perfectly fine. While the trio were mad their stunt didn’t leave any long lasting damage, they were glad their actions didn’t cause him to be so pissed off that he’d kill them.

None of the idiots wanted to be hit in the fucking face by a fucking chair.

Number One Mistake

After a lot of convincing, Uraraka gave Midoriya enough courage to confess to his crush.

Class 1-A was now class 3-A, officially on the verge of graduation. Midoriya knew things would get busy and there was always the possibility of falling out of touch with his peers. Still, he was in love with his childhood friend Bakugo. He had no intention of letting go of the bond that he worked so hard on forming.

Now that Midoriya was planning on confessing he had romantic feelings for Bakugo, he knew a lot was on the line. If he confessed in his earlier years, there was always time to work on rebuilding their bond and moving on. That way he wouldn’t risk Bakugo avoiding him upon graduation.

If he were to confess now, there was a good chance things would still be awkward by the time they graduated.

That was a terrifying thought.

Uraraka was a pillar of strength for Midoriya. She wanted the best for her friend and believed it was better for him to ask and get rejected than never trying at all. While that wasn’t the only thing she said to convince her best friend to go for it, it was one of the main comments she made that pushed him.

Midoriya took a deep breath before nodding his head. “Okay, I’m going to do it.”

“Really?” gasped Uraraka with an excited grin. She was proud to hear her friend was going to profess his love to his long-lasting crush.

“Yeah… but can you be with me when I do it?” asked Midoriya gently, looking down at his scarred hands with a wary expression.

Uraraka paused, tilting her head to the side before her eyes shot wide open. “Oh! Yes, of course! But are you sure you want to do it over the phone?”

Midoriya nodded stiffly, shallowly breathing. “I think I would pass out if I tried to tell him how I feel to his face.”

“Makes sense. You look like you’re going to pass out right now,” chuckled Uraraka fondly, smacking Midoriya’s arm. “Now, get out the phone and do it! If you wait any longer you may back out.”

“Okay… okay. You’re right, I’m already starting to regret agreeing to confess,” admitted Midoriya as he wiggled his phone out his pocket. His fingers trembled as he moved around his screen to pull up Bakugo’s contact. It was at the very top as Midoriya purposefully pinned him.

“Oh god, I think I’m going to vomit,” cried Midoriya, feeling heat rush to his face as his heartbeat unsettlingly thumped in his neck, pounding in his ears.

Uraraka snuck her hand into Midoriya before offering a tight squeeze. “Breathe. He died for you how many times now? I’m sure a confession won’t ruin anything.”

Midoriya shook his head as he let out a grunt. “Let’s do this,” huffed Midoriya as he pressed the button to call Bakugo. Doing everything in his power to not chuck the phone across the room, he immediately put the call on speaker.

“Izuku?” answered Bakugo quickly, sounding rather calm.

“There’s something I need to tell you,” revealed Midoriya quickly, tearing off the band aid so he couldn’t backtrack. He felt like his chest was going to explode.

There was shuffling from the other end of the call before Bakugo’s voice met his ears again. “Is something wrong? Is this about One for All?”

“No! Nothing like that,” stammered Midoriya, rather embarrassed.

Uraraka smirked from where she was now sitting. There was something so amusing about how worried Bakugo had become about everything and anything revolving around Midoriya.

“So, what’s so important that you have to tell me?” inquired Bakugo, a bit of a teasing tone accompanied his question.

“I like you,” confessed Midoriya suddenly, the short profession was delivered as if it was punched out of him.

It was quiet for a moment before Bakugo cleared his throat. Midoriya was covering his face, rocking back and forth in full-fledged panic mode. Uraraka sat on Midoriya’s bed violently biting at her fingernails. Despite Midoriya being the one confessing, Uraraka was completely freaking out. There was something so jovial about high school confessions.

“You like me?” repeated Bakugo with an unreadable tone.

Midoriya felt some alarms go off in his head, but he was holding out hope. There was always that chance that Bakugo loved him back and they’d have a wonderful relationship. Still, there were a lot of unknowns in situations like this. Not only did Midoriya have to consider if Bakugo would be interested in him, but he had to consider if Bakugo was attracted to boys.

Trying to sooth his nerve, Midoriya convinced himself that there was a good chance Bakugo was homosexual. After all, he’s shown no interest in any girls before. Even if Bakugo signaled he wasn’t interested in dating, Midoriya was going to ignore that fact for the time being.

“Yes,” breathed out Midoriya rather shyly, his cheeks warm and a small smile on his lips.

“Ew.”

Midoriya froze, the pounding in his chest only picking up as the burning sensation of tears forming arose. The weight of his phone suddenly became unbearably heavy as his wrist started shaking. Uraraka tried suppressing her gasp, but it didn’t matter. Midoriya wasn’t focused on anything other than his heart breaking.

“You… don’t?” asked Midoriya with a quietness Uraraka hadn’t heard in a long time.

Uraraka wanted to snatch the phone from Midoriya and end the call. A part of her wanted to storm out of the room and deck Bakugo in the face, but she kept still on Midoriya’s bed as she allowed her best friend to fight his own battle.

“But you’re a boy?” remarked Bakugo plainly. The way he said it didn’t have much malice behind it, but there was a cloud of disgust that accompanied the fact that came out more as a question.

Midoriya held his phone in a limp hold as the shy smile had long faded. Whatever life had been in Midoriya’s face died as the spark in his eyes disappeared and a deep frown met his features.

While Bakugo’s distasteful comment wasn’t inherently mean, it killed whatever romantic attraction Midoriya had for the blonde. A simple rejection would have done the job rather than a cruel reminder of how Bakugo may have liked him if he were a girl.

Uraraka was ready to get up, take the phone, and hold Midoriya until he was ready to think again. But before she could get the chance to move, Bakugo’s voice reached the duo’s ears.

“Izuku?”

Without missing a beat, Midoriya turned the phone to his face and quickly ended the call. He had nothing more to say and he wasn’t going to give Bakugo the pleasure of a response to his off-putting answer to a confession. Midoriya let his phone slip out of his grasp and clatter onto the ground.

The worst possible thing that could have happened just happened. Bakugo rejected him. Not only did Bakugo reject him, but he did in the worst way possible.

Uraraka slid off the bed, walking on her knees over to where Midoriya was sitting on his All Might carpet. Midoriya remained frozen in place with his arm propped in the air and his hand still in the position it had been to let his phone slide off his hand. Slowly, Uraraka wrapped her arms around Midoriya and pulled him close.

Resting Midoriya against her stomach, Uraraka wrapped her arms around Midoriya and leaned forward to shelter his body. As soon as she settled into the position, she felt Midoriya’s body begin to shake. “I’m so sorry, Izuku.”

Whatever power those words held were enough for the rest of Midoriya’s resolve to vanish. He sobbed into Uraraka’s shirt, feeling like he just lost all of his worth in one minute. Once he was able to process what he was feeling, his mind only got worse as he felt like a horrible person for feeling undesirable upon being rejected.

“It’s his loss Izuku. You are an amazing person, and you have so much love to offer. If Bakugo doesn’t want you, there is someone even better and more deserving of your love out there waiting for you to find them,” reassured Uraraka, rocking Midoriya back and forth as her knees were burning.

“I’m such an idiot,” cried Midoriya out loud. He could believe that he ruined everything because he was too selfish. He should have lived in blissful ignorance, never knowing if Bakugo could have loved him back or not. Now he’d forever feel the sting of being a male whenever he heard Bakugo’s voice.

Four days passed by and Midoriya avoided Bakugo like the plague. If Midoriya was socializing with Kirishima and he heard Bakugo’s footsteps approaching, he would leave without uttering another word. If Todoroki invited him to train and Bakugo was going to be there, Midoriya shut down the offer quickly. It didn’t take long for the entire class to notice the giant rift that seemed to appear between Bakugo and Midoriya overnight.

After the second war, the two were inseparable.

Wherever Midoriya was, Bakugo was hovering nearby. They trained together, did school work together, and spent much more time with one another. Now it’s been days, and they had not been seen near one another once. Midoriya didn’t once mention Bakugo in conversation. Bakugo seemed more irritable than usual, but no one wanted to risk getting blown up.

Finally, Mina and Kirishima had enough. They assumed that Bakugo and Midoriya had been secretly dating for the past two years, and they weren’t about to let the duo suffer in silence.

“Blasty! We need to talk,” demanded Mina, as she pounded on Bakugo’s door.

After waiting five long seconds, the door flew open. An enraged Bakugo stood on the other side with his fist crackling with mini explosions. “Who the hell do you think you are banging on my door like that Pinky!?”

“An angry mother is who I am right now!” shouted Mina, shoving her way through, surprising both Kirishima and Bakugo.

“What is going on?” questioned Bakugo, following behind Mina angrily.

Kirishima tilted his head to the side and leaned it forward with an unimpressed expression. “Really bro? Do you really expect us not to notice how suddenly you and Midoriya haven’t interacted once in the past couple days?”

Bakugo crossed his arms, sneering at the duo. “It’s none of your business!”

“Well excuse us for being weirded out how Midoriya hasn’t mentioned you once and how you haven’t trained once with him,” remarked Mina, snapping rather fast at Bakugo. She didn’t like whatever was going on between her classmates. They were about to graduate high school and be official heroes. Now was the worst time for petty fights.

“He’s the one who’s been avoiding me,” revealed Bakugo with a strange tone.

Kirishima and Mina shared a concerned glance. Midoriya distancing himself from Bakugo was a bad sign. Nothing Bakugo had ever done in their first year had been enough to drive Midoriya away. With their bond being incredibly close, something really bad must have happened to cause such a dramatic reaction from Midoriya.

Trying to recall how Midoriya had been acting and behaving over the past four days, Mina and Kirishima were still left with no answers. The only thing they really know is that Midoriya has spent a large amount of time with Uraraka.

“Oh… do you have any idea why?” asked Kirishima calmly, growing increasingly more invested in whatever drama bomb they may have missed.

“Yeah, I have a pretty good idea why,” admitted Bakugo quickly, looking at his hand with a small frown.

Mina rolled her eyes, shoving Bakugo lightly. “Stop being so cryptic and just tell us what happened already.”

“Izuku called me and told me he liked me.”

Mina gasped so hard she fell into a violent coughing fit. Kirishima patted her back to try and help but was equally surprised by the news. They couldn’t believe Midoriya and Bakugo hadn’t been in a secret relationship. As soon as the surprise faded away, a lingering fear arose.

Midoriya confessed. After said confession he avoided Bakugo and hadn’t mentioned him once. Bakugo rejected Midoriya.

“Dude… what the hell did you say?” responded Kirishima, aware that whatever came out of Bakugo’s mouth next would determine how hard the hit he was about to give him was.

Bakugo was quiet for far too long. Mina was standing in the corner of the room with her arms crossed. She loved Bakugo dearly, but she wasn’t going to let him get away with being a complete and utter idiot.

“I said ew.”

Kirishima punched Bakugo hard enough to earn a loud, “Fuck!”

Mina shook her head, raising a hand to cover her face. “You are horrible.”

“I know. That’s not even the worst part,” sighed Bakugo, taking a couple steps away from Kirishima.

“What did you do?’ whispered Mina, a panic rising to the surface. If her crush said ew at her when she confessed, that would have been enough for her to never show her face again.

Bakugo swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat as he looked down at his feet. “I uh… I may have said "but you’re a boy”.”

Kirishima raised both hands to his head as he simultaneously threw his head back. Mina on the other hand fell to the ground, covering her face. Bakugo watched their dramatic displays of disapproval and felt panic fully set in. He knew he fucked up the moment the words came out of his mouth, but the conversation was an uncomfortable one and he still gets mean when he’s nervous even if he’s been working with a therapist for the past two years.

In the end, Bakugo still would have rejected Midoriya. Not because he didn’t like Midoriya or that he didn’t find him attractive, but rather he wasn’t mentally prepared for a relationship. There was something so daunting about the idea even though he would enjoy dating Midoriya.

Not feeling like he'd be good enough was the one thing that would always make Bakugo the bad guy. He lets his insecurities get the best of him and he takes it out on those around him. He didn’t think he’d make a good partner, and he felt like he’d lose Midoriya forever for rejecting him. In the heat of the moment, he said whatever it took to push Midoriya away.

In an attempt to save his own pride, Bakugo had deeply hurt and invalidated the most important person in his life. Now the person he wanted nothing more than to be around no longer felt comfortable being around him.

He knew he had no one else to blame. It was clear in the reaction of his friends.

“I know I fucked up. I know I really really fucked up. I knew that within the seconds he didn’t respond and before he hung up on me. I’m a fucking idiot and I ruin everything good in my life,” vented Bakugo, clenching his fists tightly.

“Dude, now isn’t the time to throw yourself a pity party. Now is the time to go find Midoriya, apologize, and actually say what you meant to say. He clearly cares about you enough that he developed romantic feelings for you. I’m sure he’d appreciate you apologizing,” corrected Kirishima, not allowing for this issue to develop any longer.

Mina scowled at Bakugo, tugging at his ear. “If he doesn’t forgive you, I wouldn’t blame him. Really? Ew? That poor boy probably spent so much time mustering the courage to confess and you tell him ew? And then you point out that he’s a guy? You might as well have just called him a murderer and been on your way,” chastised Mina, feeling incredibly overprotective of Midoriya after the wars.

Bakugo didn’t fight back, knowing his friends were right. He screwed up and he had the responsibility of fixing it. Midoriya was in love with him, and it felt like a dream being confessed to. Yet, he felt unqualified and proved exactly why he felt that way.

Taking in a deep breath, Bakugo swiftly threw open his door, closed it behind him, and ran to the elevator.

Even if his apology was accepted, Bakugo knew that it would take a lifetime to make it up to Midoriya.

Epilogue: They get married and adopt five kids by the time they are thirty. Mina, Kirishima, and Uraraka all downed their shots bi-weekly, fully paid for by Bakugo. Kirishima and Mina got their shots for their role in knocking sense into him. Uraraka got her shots as payment for allowing Midoriya to hear him out when he showed up at Midoriya's dorm door to apologize.
