This fandom created a myth about Lady Whistledown. Sometimes i wonder if i watched the same show. Let me make myself clear: While Penelope has to tell Colin the truth, because she loves him and he deserves it, LW helped the Bridgertons a lot actually. It saved them to have Daphne married to a creep ( and see how Violet wanted people to talk to reach LW and spread), saved Colin from a loveless marriage with children that he didn't know anything about it and saved Eloise. Yes, it saved Eloise. Eloise created and kept pushing the situation in her reckless pursuit. Eloise also didn't think about the consequences of her action towards the people working for LW, didn't listen to Penelope, didn't think about the risk she was putting people at. And while i understand her anger in not knowing, had she been a better friend, many other things would be different, because she truly never paid attention to what Penelope feels or want, she molded Pen to be whom she wanted and be her audience. And then, she left Pen with the choice of losing all she built and suffer consequences or pick the less harmful option: to make Eloise's scandal about politics, not romantic and save them both, plus Theo. The real ruin for Eloise would've been her being caught with Theo, something that was bound to happen as she was not careful at all. Why should Pen sacrifice all for Eloise? Would any of you sacrifice all ( job, family and possibly your liberty) for a friend who caused the bloody situation? I'm no hypocrite, i know i wouldnt. Not to mention Eloise bravado, to Pen she would say she wants to challenge society and doesn't care about what they think...but folded the moment she received a frown from the Ton. Shall we see who are LW victims, people that suffered real consequences? Lord Beerbrock. That's it. Marina is married, despite her lies and deceit. Colin? Nothing as well, in fact, happier than ever. Eloise? A few weeks of ostracism and she's back without a problem, without a romantic entanglement to ruin her. One that she clearly didn't really thought was deep enough to face society. The Bridgertons have more to thank LW than to hate her. And Violet and Anthony, i bet your asses, do think so, and see it. And The Queen? Are you watching the show? Have you seen Charlotte's personality? That woman loves the whole game with LW. And She loves to take it all, to receive the laurels of that society. As long as she can make it look like the won, and she can, easily, by revealing or be involved in revealing who is LW. See the whole KatexEdwina, how she handled the Ton there.

Anyway, just wanted to say something because some people have dreamed a LW that doesn't exist at all. Created on their own minds a boogeyman that wasn't simply reporting the truth with witty opinions but fabricating stories and lies to ruin lives, and that's simply not true. Never happened. There was never a lie created there. Only the truth, even about herself, as Pen was often damaged by her column.

SO a few years ago, long before Gandalf Big Naturals was even a thing, I saw this meme and it changed my brain chemistry. Since then I have googled it several times, but never been able to find a trace of it. Alas, it has come to this, and I have been forced to re-create it myself for your viewing pleasure.

Listen, I haven't read MHA since I got the 17 & 18th volumes 4+ years ago, but I still interacted in the fandom space, sort of like a ghost. I haven't even watched the anime yet. Yet, hearing that it's going to be ending soon, is so bittersweet? I'm sad that the story is coming to a close (as it was the first anime I really got into), but I am so happy that Deku, 1-A and all the other survivors can be children again. I want them to be happy, learning, at peace from time to time, the only struggle being a normal high school struggle; Does my crush like me back? Did I forget to submit something for that assignment worth 45%? Who am I going to be in this project with, that won't annoy the living crap out of me? How will I sneak these food and drinks I shouldn't have into my room/the dorm?

They'll have bad nights, days when they can't talk or look at their classmates or teachers without feeling guilt, see a person walking down the street smiling carefree and wishing they were them, long to go home even though it's not there anymore, see an empty chair and mourn their friend, watch a movie and remember how funny they found it a month or two ago, text a number that doesn't belong to anyone, limbs losing control and having to be taken recovery girl. But they'll survive. They've gone through worse. They have each other.

@playydohh I misremembered the scene at the end of romancing Mr Bridgerton, but at the end, Colin and Pen reveal Whistledown's identity, which was the whole idea behind this tease. It doesn't have to be Polin, but Bridgerton at the very least.

I’m sorry, but if at the end of Bridgerton S3 doesn’t have Pen and Colin hosting a masquerade ball and Benedict dancing with a woman in silver and her running away at the end of the episode and her butler/maid friend asks her; “Everything alright, Miss Beckett?” and then the episode cuts to black. Watching Boom and then immediately watching the final episode of Fallout feels so right? Like, both have such strong anti-capitalism messages about war and warfare in the future.

Spoilers below cut for Fallout 1x08 and Doctor Who 1x03

And then hearing...

"Because, in our current societal configuration, which took shape without intentional guidance, we have friction [...] we have conflict, and we have war. And war? Well, war never changes."

While businessmen and women discuss experiments on people, all in the name of "creating a good society"? Making 122 vaults, many of which actively existed to see how fucked up they could make people behave.

And throughout Boom, there is constantly a "Thoughts and prayers" quote being said (which is the go to response for people in need, in wars, or in active hostile environments), a company literally making soldiers kill each other? (Which happened in vault 11)

Both of these shows are being streamed on massive corporations, DW on Disney+, which generated 8.4 BILLION last year (only increasing since it's initial launch, as it has removed many shows and movies from other sites). And Fallout on Amazon Prime, which had gotten 35.22 BILLION in revenue last year, as well has being known (practically globally) as a company that uses and abuses it's workers, but has made itself such a staple in so many places, that it is physically impossible to not support them in some way, and some can only use them.

But Doctor Who has always been a show about anti-war and anti-capitalism. To have such a show go to the hand of one of the biggest mega corporations is such a shame, it is incredible that they can have Moffat come back and basically flip the house of mouse off and shit in their toilet all while getting paid, and have that approved? awesome.

Fallout has always been about how war is horrible, and how fucked up humans are, giving a rare glimmer of hope towards something attainable, and Amazon Prime taking this media and making it a show? All while ignoring what the message is? Incredible. Perfect.
