Because of the abuse his family had put him under, he wasn't exactly taught how to regulate he emotions. His friends helped with this, but every now and then, he just snaps. At face value, I see Sirius as an attention seeker, most of the time at least. Their relationships aren't going to be what they were overnight, but it's a start.

A start that is filled with so much regret and guilt and Sirius swearing he will make it up to Remus until the day he dies, but it's a start because five years of memories doesn't go away overnight either.
