The peculiar case of Tadashi Yamaguchi

Summary: Tadashi Yamaguchi has problems. As in: A lot. People can't stop reminding him that he smells tasty and they'd like to eat him. His best friend and he are indirectly responsible for burning down their previous university. He can't figure out how to stop turning orange whenever he's nervous, keeps hitting his antlers on the lintel and the lion's tail growing out his back seems to have developed a mind of its own. Oh, and of course there is that cute but grouchy med student vampire living across the hall who he is crushing on hard but doesn't have the courage to ask out! On top of everything he now has to transfer to a new uni and try to survive campus chaos. Luckily, a pixie with chronic bed-hair and a shapeshifter who transforms into a duck rather than an owl whenever he's upset, decide to take him on and teach Tadashi some confidence. Inbetween mysterious mentors, headless centaurs, annoyed dragons, hungry werewolves, kickboxing archangels, literal gods and sassy half-ghosts he isn't quite sure if they are actually helping his increasing anxiety attacks, but hey... it's the effort that counts, isn't it?

“So, tomorrow is the big day, isn’t it?” Yachi asks and Tadashi takes a sip of tea.

There is nothing better than a witch’s homemade tea, even if the blonde’s speciality is time-based magic and not herbology.

“Yeah,” he nods and shudders.

“You got this!” she reassures him, but her own hands clench nervously around her cup as she goes on, “I mean Central is a big uni with lots of people - you can blend into the herd and nobody will notice you, that’s good, isn’t it? It has to be good!”

“I hope you are right,” Tadashi sighs. “I still wish I could have joined your uni” - ‘If only it wasn’t a damn expensive, super fancy, private one!’

The two of them met about a year ago, in the bathroom of another uni out of town. Both of them had been invited to an application interview and both of them had been so nervous they needed to throw up. Eventually, they bonded over rinsing their mouths at the uni-sex sinks. When Tadashi was in need of a place to live, Yachi volunteered to vouch for him with her landlord who owned several flats in this building, the one he is living in now included and since it’s one of the smallest it’s surprisingly affordable.

It’s not like his family is poor, they get by quite well, but Tadashi doesn’t want to be a financial burden on his mothers any more than he already is, since his tendency to attract trouble in combination with his non-existent self-confidence has gotten him either denied or fired from every job he’s had so far.

“Me too - then I wouldn’t be so alone in my design classes anymore,” she frowns into her cup. “But doesn’t Tsukishima-San goes to Central as well? Maybe you could stick to him and - oh”

From the look on his face, she must have deducted that plan already went down the drain - rather spectacularly if he might say so. Yachi is well aware of Tadashi’s crush on the blond vampire. He appreciates her attempts to help and her encouragements every time he gets flat out ignored in his attempts to organise something that could count as a date if you just squint hard enough!

Us (DaiSuga Week 2020)

Welcome to my brain running in gleefull circles, celebrating one of the three Haikyuu ships I actually care about!

Here are my contributions for the @daisugaweek2020

WARNING: Two snippets are rated mature (one for sexy stuff, one for possibly triggering topics) and one is NSFW - please enjoy with care and use the chapter titles and info under the cut as indication for the rating of each day’s work.

Day 1 - Strangers & Roommates (Gen) Sawamura Daichi likes his own four walls - that is until the day his apartment has only three walls left.

Day 2 - Aquarium (Teen and Up) Daichi makes a mental note to schedule their future dates in a way that Suga has something to eat first, especially if the subject of their romantic activity is in any way edible!

Day 3 - Crime & Mythology (Mature - Senisble Topics such as Injuries, Crime/Gangs, Human Trafficking) Sergeant Sawamura Daichi has seen a lot. Then again, in a world where mythical creatures have never gone extinct, are owned as pets and transportation or live as normal citizens, everyone has. And with a bit of practice, attaching a ticket to a hydra is not so much more difficult than putting it under a wiper. Unfortunately, petty inconveniences like parking violations are not the only things he has to deal with. 

Day 4 - Salty, Sweet & Spicy (Mature - Kinky Stuff & Foreplay, though no explicit sex) The decision to spice up the sex was unanimous - Suga's interpretation of litterally using spices was not!

Day 5 - Sunny (Gen) Suga doesn’t always like the way he looks - all pale and fragile, especially next to his very tan boyfriend. It really is unfair how Daichi gets brown and Suga only gets red.

Day 6 - 3pm (Explicit - NSFW) Daichi sometimes wonders where the line between laziness and well-earned relaxation is. Then again, he has Suga wrapped in his arms, they are not wearing any clothes and a hand is doing very nice things to his groin, so this really isn’t the time for philosophical endeavours.

Day 7 - Free Day -> Soulmate Colours AU (Gen) Everything is black, white and grey until you meet your soulmate and you start seeing the colours of their hair, skin and eyes. Daichi meets his soulmate when he is just 5 years old, but it takes him another 14 years to realize.

Connections (SpikerSetter Week 2020)

Hello ladies and gents and welcome to my dumb brain struggling to actually  step out of my comfort zone here and write characters I usually don’t write so forgive the possible cringe u.u’’

Furthermore I am a moron who is unable to use a calendar and I confused the dates of DaiSuga Week with the ones for this event, so these come a bit late and will be continued irregularly, but here is a masterpost for my contributions to the @spikersetterweek!

More info on each day below the cut - the stories are generally rated Gen, though some might drift a bit in the direction of Teen And Up - no Mature or Explicit content though! // PLEASE NOTE: As of posting this blog, I have not yet written all the chapters, so the contents are still subject to change!

Day 1 - Struggle - Daichi/Suga They practise for weeks and yet their new synchronized attack just won't work. Sugawara is starting to doubt and works himself to the bone in order to figure out what he is missing.

Day 2 - Swap - Watari & Aoba Johsai Shinji Watari is not a bad setter, but he is no Oikawa Tooru either and in the shadow of a great name and a new friendship the Aoba Johsai first-year has to reflect on his pupose in a new team.

Day 3 - Separation - Hanamaki & Oikawa Hanamaki isn't sure if he believes in fated pairs, but what he definitely believes in is proofing people wrong and rubbing it in their faces afterwards - coincidently so does Oikawa and when they are accused of being useless when separated from Iwaizumi and Matsukawa, they set out to have the most epic day ever... all on their own!

Day 4 - Space - Bokuto/Akaashi (+ Kuro/Kenma) The year is 2168 and humanity has colonized the solar system. Space travel is available for the broad population and a new sport is gaining in popularity: Saturn Surfing. Akaashi Keiji isn’t really into any of this, but a job is a job and so he has to set out in order to sell a new and promising surfer some sponsorship deals - if only he knew that ‘rising star with wild boyish charm’ translates to ‘Bokuto Koutaru’, he would have taken more Ibuprofen on the trip!

Day 5 - Sacrifice - Shirabu & Ushijima (+ Semi & Tendou) Shirabu chose Shiratorizawa for a reason - even the simplest set will lead to victory! And while he was definitly right with that, he still has to discover that relying on an invicible ace does not mean he has to sacrifice his pride as a skilled setter.

Day 6 - Surprise - Koganegawa & Futakuchi (+ Dateko) All Koganegawa wants is for someone to be proud of him. Especially his captain! If only he could figure out how to earn Futakuchi's friendship.

Day 7 - Free Day - Honestly, I have no idea yet

Summary: The Volleyball Club is facing difficult times and really needs new members - Fortunately: Kiyoko has a plan, Tanaka and Nishinoya are faithful, Daichi exists, Suga has his fun, Asahi is not concerned for once, and Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita are roasting marshmallows in the fire.

Bit of background & Info: - Karasuno's religion is centered around the figure of death or more specifically the Angel of Death: Azrael - Their dead are burned to allow their spirits to be free and return to the flow of energy within the earth - Traitors or criminals are typically executed and/or drowned, then thrown into a river in opposition to being burned, so that they will be trapped in this realm and never find elevation - this way it is believed the flow within the earth will be cleansed by keeping the bad elements from returning - Thus they do not have graves, all tough little memorials can be build for the deceased - typically by using their weapon as a marker (if they were a warrior or died in battle) - Kings are always remembered through "Blade and Crown" - both are taken to the temple, the most sacred place in the country  - the temple is a deeply spiritual place and only crowned members of the royal family are allowed into the central sanctum, where the crowns and blades of former kings rest - it is also considered the place where the Angel of Death resides  - this also means that there is no universal crown, every prince or princess receives a unique one upon coronation/confirmation - Princes/Princesses must be confirmed (usually around the age of 10/12, latest at their grand debut) and are crowned in a special ceremony, most times followed by public celebrations - before they are crowned, they are considered royalty but are not subject to royal privileges and do not hold royal authority

Crow Steel: - one of the rarest metals on the Miyagi continent - traces and low amounts have been found in both Dateko and Wakunan but most reserves lie within Karasuno borders - hence the name  - forging it is a rare skill, almost exclusive to the finest smiths of Karasuno - while otherwise an open country, the crows are very protective over this particular knowledge - Crow Steel needs to be sharpened less often than normal steel and is rumored to be unbreakable (in fact it can be damaged but only under immense force, that humans are usually not capable off) - when forged correctly and cooled, it usually takes a dark blue, blackish color and is famous for its copper reflections - since it is extremely rare in comparison to ordinary steel, it is reserved mostly for the royal family and important figures - while there are trinkets and accessories made from this material, it is mostly used to forge blades - once in a century and only on very special occasions, crow steel products are given to foreigners as a sign of trust - rumors have it, that it combines the arcane qualities of pure iron and silver, hence being able to inflict mortal injuries on beings without corporal form and every other creature that would normally not be harmed by an ordinary blade

Details on Suga's stuff: - his blade, like most royal blades, is forged from crow steel - the sheath is made out of hardened leather and adorned by a metal crow - the sword is engraved with the kanji for crow - with 105 cm (roughly 41.3 inches) it is of medium length - the handle however is longer than average, allowing it to be flexibly handled - this makes him a fast and flexible fighter, but also vulnerable since he can't carry a shield effectively - it also suitable for being thrown like a knife - the form of the blade is rather unusual for Miyagi and leans more into the style that is common in Tokyo and on the island nation of Johzenji - his crown is made from silver and complimented with amber trinkets, hanging from the right side - the second ring is made to resemble a halo, in reference to his nickname "The Indomitable" and "Angel of Death" (he earned this name through his deep connection with the sanctum and for being its official warden)

Details on Daichi's stuff: - his blade too, is made from crow steel and decorated with a crow - he wields a spear with a cross blade, allowing both attack and a solid defense - with its three blades the spear can be used to both cut and stab, so it can be used both as primary weapon and in combination with a shield - in total it measures 185cm (apron. 73.8 inches) and is rather large, especially considering the blade to shaft ratio - it requires strength to wield, due to its unusual focal point, but is still perfectly balanced and considering the size - very light - the wooden shaft has a steel core so it doesn't break - the top is usually protected by a simple, plain leather cover - the crown is made from bronze and simple in its design - it was chosen to visualize his solidity, stability and still respect his common heritage
