I am so proud of this Girl Scout troop! And I am so proud to be part of an organization that supports ALL girls and works to make scouting accessible to all girls.
Just a reminder that if you are someone who wants to eat Girl Scout Cookies, and you don't have local Girl Scouts to buy them from, and you are realising you can just go online and get them from the Internet, Troop 6000 is...
"...a first-of-its-kind program designed to serve families living in temporary housing in the New York City shelter system.
"Each week, Girl Scouts meet in shelters across the city to take part in activities that help them make new friends, earn badges, and learn to see themselves as leaders. All fees, uniforms, trips, and program materials are provided at no cost.
"As a permanent fixture of the program, we also established the Troop 6000 Transition Initiative, which supports Girl Scouts and their families as they transition to permanent housing. The average stay for a family in a city shelter is 18 months. Remaining connected to the community and opportunities introduced to them through Troop 6000 can help facilitate a successful transition for girls and young people, and it is essential they continue to receive the financial support that allows them to do so."

I am so proud of Kanga for weaponizing Roo.
With Winnie-the-Pooh and The Battle of Hastings sharing an anniversary today, did you know that E. H. Shepard once drew this amazing scene for an exclusive book bag?
Some dude asked to help me carry some bags and I told him, "No, I'm fine, thanks." He kept asking so I was about to hand him a bag, but then he went on to say, "Men need to help Women." Nope! He lost his chance. I don't need a MAN to help me with something I can do myself. Especially not because I am a WOMAN. My grandma (who I was with at the time) tried to excuse his statement by saying the male person was just trying to use manners, but I won't stand for it. Saying it's "manners" just prevents us from acknowledging that statements like that make it okay to make women sound/feel inferior.

Prehistoric "girl power".
It's a familiar story to many of us: In prehistoric times, men were hunters and women were gatherers. Women were not physically capable of hunting because their anatomy was different from men. And because men were hunters, they drove human evolution. But that story's not true, according to research by University of Delaware anthropology professor Sarah Lacy, which was recently published in Scientific American and in two papers in the journal American Anthropologist. Lacy and her colleague Cara Ocobock from the University of Notre Dame examined the division of labor according to sex during the Paleolithic era, approximately 2.5 million to 12,000 years ago. Through a review of current archaeological evidence and literature, they found little evidence to support the idea that roles were assigned specifically to each sex. The team also looked at female physiology and found that women were not only physically capable of being hunters, but that there is little evidence to support that they were not hunting.

How did it all start?
How did men start thinking that they were superior to women
Why did women start feeling inferior
Where did it all begin?
How did "you throw or fight like a girl" became an insult
How did " being a girl" became an insult ?
And more Importantly why did we start thinking like that
Why can't people understand that women are human too?
We are not goddesses. We are not dumb and weak.
We are human
Start treating us like one
