Harry struggled to keep up with Ron as he flew through the sky, much faster than the battered, old cleansweeps they had found in the shed should be able to go. Ron’s anger probably reinforcing the broom’s own magic. That would be an interesting theory to test, Harry thought before focusing on the chase again.

Eventually, Ron slowed down and Harry was able to catch up to him. His face was streaked with dry tears, Harry couldn’t tell if he’d been crying about Hermione or if his eyes had watered because of the wind.

“How could she do that?” Ron asked, stifling a sob. Crying then, not wind.

“Ron, mate. I swear the ferret isn’t that bad anymore.” Harry tried to calm him.

“How long have you known?” Ron’s voice was shaking, his eyes narrowed as he scowled at his friend because of his betrayal.

“Probably even before she knew it. They have been dancing in circles around each other for a while. I’m not sure how it started, but they have been getting closer ever since the new year ball at the Ministry.” Harry wasn’t good with these things, he never knew what to say. Words and feelings were not his strong suit. Words about feelings, were a skill he’d never mastered and probably never would. Awkwardness was definitely something Albus had inherited from his father, along with the green eyes.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I would have come back, tried to talk her out of it. Now I look like the villain and, I swear, I’m not!” Ron sobbed loudly.

“It wasn’t my story to tell, mate. And I don’t think she would have wanted you to talk her out of it. I’m pretty sure she did that all by herself at first.” Harry tried, unsuccessfully, to steer Ron’s broom back in the direction of the Burrow.

Hermione was thoroughly exhausted after a very long work day and hoped to be able to go home soon, but the education reform was too important, she had to see this through.

When she stepped out of the floo at Malfoy House, still wearing her work outfit, she was surprised to see Malfoy waiting for her and not Carson.

“Hello, Granger.” He said with his trademark smirk. “Are you done saving the Wizarding World for today?”

He was wearing a black suit with a crisp white Oxford shirt and a dark green tie. Hermione felt extremely self-conscious, she had come here straight from the Ministry and looked a mess.

“Honestly, Malfoy. I’m haggard, I could do without further bullying from you. I read your memo, I visited Eniiyi’s memory of the hearing, I really don’t need to be here unless you’re going to be civil.” She chided, taking her discomfort out on him.

“Calm down, Granger. I was just joking, not bullying.” He replied, raising his hands in surrender.

“Do. Not. Tell. Me. To. Calm. Down. Ever.” She growled.

“Fine, fine. I’m sorry. Let’s get some food into you, before you bite my head off.” He took her arm and lead her towards the dining room. "You look llovely, by the way. Green looks good on you"

She huffed but went along with him. Mostly because she was hungry and her fridge was empty, and she did like this outfit very much and she was glad someone had noticed it, even though she was aware that she looked anything but lovely and he was just being nice.

Fics I loved - Part 4 - Girl On A Train

I practically inhaled this fic today as I was making dinner. I nearly sliced my finger open because I was more focused on the reading than I was on the tomato-dicing, but that's a story for another time. We will be reblogging all relevant posts tagged with #dramione month and retweeting the same on Twitter. We will be reposting all items tagged with #dramionemonth on our Instagram stories. There is also an AO3 collection. Feel free to post on all four platforms if you so choose!

If you post for a prompt that hasn’t come up yet, (for example, posting day 20’s prompt when it’s September 14th) we won’t share the post until the indicated day comes up. We will reblog/retweet for previous days’ prompts if you post past the indicated day!

We’ll go over the AO3 collection further down in the FAQ. Posting to the collection is not required. Feel free to post on whichever platform(s) you’d like! 

On Tumblr

- Dramione Month’s 2024 AO3 collection is [here]. Each Daily prompt is its own Prompt that you can claim as part of the collection; this includes the weekly Free Days! You are free to claim as many or as few as you’d like.

- All works posted to the collection will be hidden and anonymous until the relevant day/prompt occurs, i.e. if you post a work for the Day 20 prompt, it will remain hidden and anonymous until September 20th. Works posted for a previous date’s prompt will not be hidden.

- Works with sensitive and explicit content, including dead doves, are allowed. Please use AO3’s tagging system for all relevant warnings and potentially triggering content. Works with ‘Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings’ will not be allowed.

- Works do not have to be complete to post. We encourage WIP works.

- The collection will remain open until October 15th 2024 after the end of Dramione Month to allow for late claiming and posting. Please feel free to post for past days during the month as well!

-When posting to the AO3 collection, you are free to post all your works for Dramione Month as a single AO3 work, with each prompt as a separate chapter. If this is the case, please claim one of the final Free Day (either Day 29 or Day 30) prompts. The only drawback we can see from this is that AO3 now limits how many tags a work can have, thus you may not be able to tag everything relevant for your single work. Another possible downside is that some readers may be turned off by a long wall of tags, with no easy way to know which chapter which tags apply to.

We recommend posting each prompt claim as a single work, and placing each of your works in a series (separate from our Collection) so readers can navigate easily through your prompt fills by clicking 'Next Work' at the bottom of each work.

-When your work is revealed, please remember to change the posting date to the current date!!

Trailblazing & Stargazing - Chapter 10

A little snippet from chapter 10, online now.

Just Pansy being sassy.

“Mini-Weasley, enough with the pre-teen drama, stand with your mother and hold her like you would for a waltz.”

Hugo gawked. “Why?!”

Hermione was perplexed, as well. “Why would he need to dance with me?” she asked.

Pansy sighed and rolled her eyes. “Now, Granger, I know you were brought up differently, but you’re supposed to be the brightest witch of our age, surely you have figured out, by now, that you are going to have to open the dances at the Gala.”

“Oh, surely someone else will.” She countered

“Granger, who opens the dances at a gala?” asked Pansy, slowly.

“The host or hostess.” Sighed Hermione.

“And where is this Gala being hosted?”

“At the Ministry of Magic.”

“And you are…?”

“The Minister of Magic.” She huffed.

“Yes, Granger. I’m very proud of you for figuring it out. Now, before you say anything else. No, you cannot open with your ex-husband, you just announced your divorce, that would be confusing. And no, not Potter either, he is your best friend but also a head of department, opening with him would imply that he is more important than the other heads. You cannot open with any guest for that same reason. Hence, your son is the best option. After the opening dance you can do whatever you like. Now, please stand close so that I can match your shades of blue. It was bad enough that stupid Malfoy didn’t tell me he would open the dancing with you and not his mother, made me look like an amateur.” Parkinson groaned. 

That same evening, after supper, Draco enters the Slytherin common room, black robes billowing behind him in a rather impressive Snape impersonation.

"Snake meeting in the den!" Shouts his sonorused voice.

One by one all Slytherin students file into the common room. Draco waits, brooding in a corner, arms crossed. When they are all accounted for, Draco speaks.

"Flint! Why did you tell Professor Granger about the ring?"

"I thought..."

"Yes, in the future, please refrain from thinking. All of you."

The students lower their gazes.

"Your job is to talk about me when Professor Granger can hear you, not tell her I want to marry her! I have to at least take her on one date first!"

A seventh year raises her hand, Draco nods.

"We talked about how handsome you are, she was sitting beside us on the Quidditch stands when you were acting as referee. She ogled you after we said your arse looked good."

"Thank you, Avery. See? That's what I want from you! No more mistakes."

Trailblazing & Stargazing - Chapter 25

On Monday morning, Hermione woke up in the arms of Draco Malfoy, for the second time in as many days. In the faint light that came from the streetlamp outside, she looked at his face. His features were relaxed, his lips slightly parted, his cupid bow was deliciously tempting. She decided to get up, not wanting to mess up her routine. And definitely needing to clear her head. She slithered out of the bed, making sure not to wake him, and headed to the living room closing the bedroom door behind her. She put on her yoga clothes and began her sun salutations.

She was halfway through her practice when Draco rushed out of her bedroom, stark naked, wand in hand and with a slightly panicked look, only to find her stretching her back and legs in downward dog. He took a deep breath and his posture relaxed.

“Not that I’m complaining, but what on earth are you doing with your arse in the air at 5AM?” He asked, tilting his head sideways looking at her with a raised brow and the hint of a smirk.

“It’s my yoga routine. I do this every morning. Helps me focus and keeps my muscles strong and flexible.” She explained, still upside down.

“If I may, I might have a suggestion to improve this routine. Flexibility and all.” He grinned as he approached her.

“You may not!” She said as she transitioned into warrior one pose. “Since you are up, you can start making breakfast.” She blew him a kiss and he huffed in protest as he went back into her room to get dressed, A few minutes later he walked by her, heading towards the kitchen.

When she was done with her routine, Hermione went into the kitchen where Draco was waiting for her. He kissed her the moment she was through the door.

“Good morning to you too.” She chuckled when they broke the kiss.

The table was set for breakfast with two steaming cups of tea, warm and buttery pain au chocolat in a small woven basket with an embroidered napkin, creamy scrambled eggs and crisp stir-fried vegetables in fine bone-china plates with gilded rim, foamy cappuccinos in cups that matched the plates, a fresh flower arrangement in a tall crystal vase.

Hermione looked at him sideways. “I’m pretty sure none of this came from my pantry.” She said.

“Granger, your pantry was a post-atomic wasteland. I had Carson bring provisions. Enjoy a decent breakfast for once. You’re welcome.” He scoffed but still pulled out the chair for her.
