i have not sent an ask in SO LONG (sorry btw) but hi hello i can’t get medicated andrew out of my head and i need to know your thoughts on how sober andrew views/reconciles with the time he spent medicated

medicated andrew makes my heart ache. i think that andrew probably tries not to look back on that time - he can’t do anything to change the past, and i wouldn’t say that he’s made peace with it but he kind of,, accepts it? is resigned to it?

when he was on his meds, andrew couldn’t truly control what he was doing, and dwelling on that loss of control would do more harm than good. his choices and free will were stripped away, and he became a prisoner in his own mind. he might look back on that time with flashes of rage, but he’s pretty good at smothering his emotions, and i’d imagine he’d repress most memories associated with that time, because looking back would be unproductive and pointless

in the future, i could see him looking back on those years with some bitterness maybe, but i don’t think he’d really see the point. the past is the past for him, and he made no promises of revenge for the torture his meds put him through, so i’d imagine that he would generally just opt to completely ignore it. the only exception i could see to that would be in therapy sessions with bee when he was first taken off his meds to see how he was adjusting

andrew “stood with his back to the car, one arm propped on the hood and the other draped along the top of his door” (tkm, ch. 1) and i stg andrew bought a low expensive car simply for the Aesthetic and the Drama, you can’t convince me otherwise

i really wish we’d had more hernandez content, because he was obviously important to neil. like neil didn’t flinch at all when hernandez reached to help him up after andrew slammed him w the racquet, he clearly cared for neil and wanted to see him succeed, he was probably the person neil most trusted (although still warily) in millport. like i bet he puts up all the newspaper clippings about neil that he can find, and i bet he follows neil’s life through the news (and is shocked when the truth about his past comes out). i hope that neil gives him a ticket to watch him at the olympics. anyway, i want more hernandez content 

hc that andrew’s really good at drawing, and bc of his eidetic memory, he can depict scenes perfectly. he didn’t draw much when he was on his meds, but got back into it when he was sober again. here are some memories i think he would recreate:

the “you know, i get it” speech (this one is a kaleidoscope of colours bc of his drugged state)

neil at ground level, andrew’s cigarette between his lips, giving andrew a mock salute (that scene right after andrew returns from easthaven)

seeing neil’s scars for the first time

aaron and nicky dancing, carefree, at eden’s

bee’s glass figurines (he adds to this drawing every time he gets her a new one)

sparring with renee

neil sitting on the ground at the foxhole court after calling andrew during his panic attack

neil leaning over the bus seat

matt grinning during an exy game

neil at the baltimore reunion (the rest of the foxes are blurs in this one because he only had eyes for neil)

sleepy neil curled up in the beanbag chair

allison and renee curled up beside each other

kevin coming in, drunk, with his new tattoo 

nicky and erik hugging when erik came as a surprise

kevin and wymack right before the final match

riko with his racquet raised above neil (he wasn’t going to draw this one, but he couldn’t get the moment out of his head and thought it might help to get it down on paper)

i’d like to think that, when andrew feels ready to show neil his drawings, they hang them up around their home. and when the foxes come over, they’re in awe at the memories and the love that is captured in the artwork, but they know not to say anything. dan gives them pictures, though, to hang up alongside the drawings, and they do
