From an Lu weekly prompt, I bring to you… MAIL SHENANIGANS!!

I guess this could also be called.. “From one place to another, a postman’s job is never complete” as the actual title of it.

"Here, can you please deliver this message to Link?" The young princess (or not princess- this is before that time) asked.

"Of course, you can count on me."

"Here, a letter to my grandson, Link." The old smith handed him a carefully wrapped letter.

The postman tucked it carefully into his bag.

"Oh- and before you go. Take this. You might be safer."

He handed him a knife of sharpened metal, clearly well made.

The postman blinked at the large box the women who lived on the ranch gave him.

"Give this to Link please, oh! and before I forget- Here. Take this for all of your hard work."

The postman smiled at the gift.

"Hey- you! I am in need of your assistance!" A voice called out to the postman.

The postman turned his head, being greeted with a hylian dressed in a purple bunny suit.

"First of all- I have a letter to Mr Sir Hero, or also goes by Link. Secondly, will you care for some of my wares?"

Needless to say, the postman did not buy a single thing- He was far too broke already.

"Here, could you give this to Link, my friend?" A raspy voice asked.

The postman nodded, taking the letter given to him. The old man smiled gently at him.

"Thank you." he whispered.

"Hey, I was told you can bring letters to Link while he's on his adventure with his extended family! Could you bring ours?"

Children crowded around him, holding aloft letters to him.

"Yeah- I can."

The postman blinked at his predicament.

A huge stack of letters sat beside him, and a bowl of soup sat in front of him.

"Eat more dear, you must be famished from your adventure!" the old lady poured him some water.

The girl only added more letters to the pile.

"Please, take this letter to General Link, or just Link. He is currently on an adventure. I've been told you can deliver this to him?"

The postman nodded, taking the letter from the queen.

The queen smiled, her armor clanking as she strolled away.

"Let me guess- a letter to Link?"

"You know it! Wait- how did you know that?"

The postman smiled at the beetle backpack merchant.

"I have a keen sort of eye, one could say."

"Here, I have letters for Link, Link, Link, Mr Hero Sir or Link, Link, Link, Link, General Link and Link."

"Mr hero sir?" muttered the one with the blue scarf.

"Don't ask about it, 'General Link'."

"Jeez- touchy much?"

"Here- payment for all of your hard work."

A mailman's job is never over. I will continue to bring letters no matter what.

He shivered at the cold breeze that swept through the mountains.

Finding the house, he walked up and knocked.

There was some rustling, but soon a middle-aged man appeared, peering at the postman carefully.

"And to whom shall I grant the pleasure to?"

"I have a letter for someone who lives here. Who goes by the name of... Link?"

"That would be me."

EXTRA BONUS

"Hello! I have some boxes and letters to the Goddess Hylia?"

"Yes- that is me."

"So, all of these boxes and letters are from the nine Links."

"Ah- which letter or box did the one who wears no pants give you?"

"This box right here."

"Okay then- not going to open that. Thank you for all you have done."

"It was my pleasure. After all, that's what we angels do, we live to bring joy and happiness. We live to serve."

He was enveloped with a warm hug.

"You truly work too much."

I love this idea sm.

I also like to combine the Movie verse and the Show verse.. So I have Jay as a nervous person with anxiety when meeting new people. If he knows the person, then he rambles non-stop even.

But otherwise.. I love these concepts for Jay and might completely rewrite Prime Empire.. or at least I’mma try to incorporate some of these into my fics. I love this sm.

Jay!

Hell yeah! The lightning ninja. Established early on as someone who literally cannot stop talking, the comic relief, the creative, scrappy guy all about reaching new heights! When we see his flashback sequence in s9, the concept that they stick with is the idea that Jay is a dreamer. He’s pretty ambitious always trying to craft something that will take him above and beyond (as in he was literally trying to make a flying machine), and his element helps symbolise it. He’s into being flashy like lightning, and tries to climb higher (relating to the sky). This ambition does lead to him having a lot of insecurities though, and he has some interesting ways of dealing with them but I’ll elaborate later.

Jay’s backstory when it’s told in s1, is the most straight forward. I mean, he’s the only ninja with both of his parents on regular speaking terms, although he grew up on a junkyard, it’s pretty mundane and he has an air of normalcy about him, which he seems to be trying to escape. He does really mundane stuff, like poetry and comic book reading (compared to Cole who abandoned art school to go mountain climbing shirtless). I kinda hc Jay having gone to public school and immediately getting bullied because he was raised in a junkyard and his parents are weird, bc those insecurities have gotta come from somewhere. He’s pretty impressionable too, getting fixated on video games and Cliff Gordon (and those also probably influenced his uhh outlook on women and romance).

Jay has a lot of insecurities. I’ve mentioned his upbringing but also his low self esteem is the crux of his true potential episode. Jay’s over the top bravado is him trying desperately to make others like him, almost to the point that he didn’t even tell anyone about the real problems he had (being a snake). The s3-4 love triangle plot follows the same themes; Jay feeling insecure and threatened by Cole, only to reveal that secretly he missed being Cole’s best friend and he hadn’t even confronted those feelings until s4. Again in s6, Nadakhan straight up says that Jay makes jokes to hide his deeper insecurities. And yeah I thinks it’s understandable why he would be a little insecure considering he’s living with shirtless mountain climber Cole, actually gets btiches Kai, literally computer for brain Zane, badass Samurai x Nya, and grandson of god chosen one Lloyd. On top of that, Jay is the most panicky ninja and the main comic relief of the team.

I think his greatest strength is his tenacity to succeed even when he’s at a low. As a junkyard boy, he learned to scrap together quick solutions out of barely anything as shown in Hunted, and when all his friends were captured in s6, he scrapped together a new team, and even after quitting the ninja he was able to make it big and score a job as a tv host. Nadakhan’s characterisation is supposed to parallel Jay in that, like Jay, Nadakhan also relies on what resources he had, and his own wits. Jay’s “fake it til you make it” personality has its use in how he doesn’t stop trying and can find ways to make the most out of his situation. He kinda embodies the message of Lego, being able to build his way to a solution. He’s a dreamer, with his head in the clouds, which makes sense because that’s usually where lightning is.

Although after all that’s happened to Jay, I have sort of a theory/headcanon to do with his perception of reality. Because Jay, since the start, already has some association with not being completely honest. I think Jay having some sort of detachment with reality is really interesting and it’s only briefly touched upon in the show. But yknow especially after s6 I think he should because a) Jay literally learned that season that he was adopted, and whilst he still loves his parents dearly, that’s still gonna shake him to find out that he doesn’t know a lot about his past and heritage, b) everyone he loves keep dying and undying again and again and at that point I think death would be even ever so slightly desensitised c) Jay literally bent reality to his will. He is one of the only two people who remember things that never happened, and all the tragedy that happened in his life was erased and promptly ignored. He never tells the other ninja. He’s never seen going back to Cliff Gordon’s house. We don’t see him go back for Echo. He isn’t shown to try to look for his mother.

(Crystalised part 1 spoilers)

Ninjago, intentionally or not, does play around with Jay and reality and his sanity in s9 and Crystalised. In s9, whilst Jay knows what’s going on, he just loses any semblance of self preservation and gives up with even the idea of being stressed about a situation so hopeless, and is weirdly at peace with it all. (Spoilers here) In Crystalised, Jay believes Nya is in cups of water and decides to become a hermit, cutting himself off from the world and kinda losing it. Jay tends to lose his grip on reality/lose faith in his situation and I think it might be because he’s been through a lot of things that have already made him question his life (s6). Also being separated fro Nya, who he not only loves but also is the only one who can possibly understand what he went through in s6, may have played a role in this.

It’s a shame Prime Empire didn’t really use this, since Prime Empire had all the pieces to have an escapism themed arc for Jay, which I think would’ve made sense since I think Jay could’ve used escapism to cope with his hardships, even before s6, even being a ninja is an escape from his boring junkyard life). Prime Empire provides a fun, totally harmless (not) adventure than you can physically use to run away from reality. Jay was popular there, and the most skilled there and it was supposed to be his season. I mean it would have been cool if the reason why half of Ninjago entered prime empire is because they’re also traumatised and want to leave too (just last season they were attacked by fire snakes and eldritch horrors). But they don’t really explore it that much so there’s some missed potential there (one day, I’ll rewrite this season).

Although we can see, ever since s6, some of Jay’s insecurities are alleviated. It might just be the writer change, but post 7 Jay seems to be a lot goofier that pre 7 Jay, (the uwuification), and I’m interpreting that as him no longer feeling like he needs to fake bravado in front of everyone else. And that’s nice. Jay has some really good developement, and is a really enjoyable character to watch because he’s just so endearing in my opinion. In conclusion, I like Jay’s arc and his consistent character traits and his character development, and he’s just a really interesting character.

The Tales of the Hero of Wind.

I got a bunch of lu (wind) prompts here, so I'm just going to throw a bunch of words on this and lets see how this turns out!

Main Navigation Center

My Fic MasterList

"And so, they were finally free to wander the world in peace." Wild finished, waving his hands as he sat by the fire.

Four let out a sound between a whimper and a cry quietly.

Wind smiled. "Thats a nice story, but let me tell you one even better. You see, there's there was this phantom ship, one which held numerous treasures within. Tetra and I, along with the crew, started to board the ship and steal all of it's treasures..." Wind enthusiastically explained, painting the scene with hand gestures.

Time stared at the small hero as he spoke with so much thrill, causing Wild to be leaning forward in his seat.

Legend leaned over to Warriors, watching as Wind captured the rest of the heroes in his story. He whispered "How much do you think this is real..?"

Warriors took a second, before blinking at Legend. "What? I'm sorry, Wind is telling a really good story."

Legend blinked, turning to stare at Wind. How much of his stories are true...?

Wind coughed, a ragged dry cough. His throat felt dry as a desert.

He shivered, glancing over at the rest of the heroes as Wild stirred the cooking pot, probably making soup for him.

Suddenly, a heavy weight fell on this shoulders and he glanced up, seeing blue in the corner of his eyes. He looked at the strange item wrapped around him. It was Warrior's scarf. He glanced at Warriors, blinking at how odd it was seeing him without his scarf.

"Wha-?"

Warriors shrugged. Then waved it off. "Keep it, I can get it back once you're feeling better. I've always seen it as a good luck charm, maybe it can bring good luck to you by curing your sickness." He strolled off towards Four at the far side of camp.

Wind shivered, burying his face into the warm, comfortable scarf.

I'm so taking this once I get better. Its so nice and soft...

A battle raged around him, and Wind ducked and slashed at monsters. He sliced the bokoblin he was fighting, black blood spilling across the ground. His gaze snapped up and searched for his compantions, friends, and family. He saw Wild, shooting arrows at top speed, Hyrule, causing.. Was that lightning? to strike every so often. Sky and Warriors were fighting back to back. Time and Twilight surged against the horde. Legend and Four were no where to be seen.

"LEGEND! FOUR!!" Wind called out, desperately searching for them in the horde.

Legend head popped up, swimming through the crowd. Wind sighed a breath of relief at seeing him, but his heart clenched in fear with no sight of Four.

Wind ducked as a Moblin clawed at where his head was mere moments before. He searched the area, keeping an eye out for the shortest hero and his very colorful outfit.

As he dodged the moblin, he noticed a darknut closing in on a very familiar multicolored tunic.

Four! His mind thought and he frantically shoved past monsters. Rushing to go save his brother. He neared and shoved his sword through the darknut's stomache, slicing its armor and itself in half. It crumbled to dust as he rushed over to where Four lay.

"Four?! Four!" Wind shook Four, his mind panicking when Four didn't respond.

Wind did a quick check, noticing a wound on the smithy's head. Knocked unconscious? I always forget that the Smithy is more prone to head injuries. Wind sighed in relief as he felt the constant pulse of his brother.

He stood stance over Four's prone body, ready to defend him until his final dying breath.

"Hey Wind, did you know in my Hyrule, that you can stop time and go into another dimension that shouldn't exist? I call it the 'title screen'." Twilight told Wind. Wind gasped, staring at Twilight in awe. "Thats so cool! Can I see it?"

It all started out when Wild made a joke about being able to fly by using explosives. Wind had believed him. They were trying to push it and see what limits existed.

As far as they know, there is none.

"Hey Wind, I once had to fight the moon." Time piped up.

Wind blinked at Time. "Really? Amazing!!!"

Four blinked at Time. "If you fought the moon, and destroyed it, wouldn't that have destroyed your world? I mean.. Tides, and gravity..."

"Shhhh Four. No one knows the concept of science ye-... Wait... How do you..." Wild stared at Four, his eyes wide.

Four just snickered and didn't respond.

"Whose Hyrule is this?" Time asked, and the 7 other heroes all made noises of disagreement, signaling that this wasn't any of their Hyrules.

"I hate water." Legend muttered as he stared at the open abyss of water.

"I saw we explore the land. Maybe we can find more mainland that way?" Wild suggested, pointing in the opposite direction of the sea.

"No, will not work. I think we're on an island." Sky called from where he landed in a tree.

"Who are you?!" A voice called out and a small, blonde haired child came running out of the forest. Waving a sword and sheild, they also had a bow on their back.

"Hey, little one. We're lost. Do you have any directions or a boat we could use? Also, if you have any information, is there a hero in the land?" Time asked, his shoulders relaxing realizing that the child was no threat.

"Why are you looking for me?!" The child exclaimed, holding the sword defensively.

"That's the hero?" Legend muttered to Hyrule. Hyrule just shrugged.

"You are Link?" Time questioned.

The small child hero paused a quick moment before nodding.

Four strolled right up to them. "Finally! Someone my size! Hi! Okay, this is going to sound odd, but we're the past heroes. I'm Four, the armored one is Time, Wild is the one hanging upside down from the tree, Sky is the one on the tree, Warriors is the one with the blue scarf who is arm wrestling Twilight, and that's Hyrule and Legend." Four said, pointing to each one.

"Well uhh.. You can call me A-I mean Wind?" The new hero said, stuttering slightly as he stared at Time in awe.

(He? They? Four couldn't tell.)

"I assume thats your hero titles right?" The little hero, newly dubbed Wind, asked.

Time nodded. Wind gasped in awe.

"You're the hero of time?! That's amazing! So cool!!" Wind cheered.

"Ahh, so another hero after Time." Legend scratched his neck.

Twilight snickered at the young hero's enthusasim.

***

Three swaps and Four could say that the new hero was off.

They had no idea how or what was wrong, but something was just off about Wind. As they landed in Wind's time again, they were stuck on an island out in the middle of no where.

"This is my Hyrule!" The young hero cried, their hazel eyes gleamed as they surveyed the water.

"Ugh, I hate water." Legend groaned next to Four.

A boat sailed far in the distance, ever slowly coming closer.

Wind smiled, waving his hands excitedly as the boat neared.

A tanned head with curly blonde locks stuck out over the side and peered at them, her eyes narrowing seeing Wind. They vanished quickly.

What was that about? Four wondered.

As the boat stopped, a young tanned girl from before (the one who peered at them), hopped down and pointed a sword at Wind.

"Who are you imposter." They said in a serious tone, and the rest of the chain reacted, their hands instinctively going towards their swords.

"Imposter?" Legend asked, facing Wind curiously. "What does that mean Wind?"

"Uhm." Wind was clearly panicking, his eyes glancing back and forth between the chain and the girl.

Another person landed slid down and walked up next to the girl, he was very familiar, as he looked exactly like Wind. "Uhm, Tetra, what is going on?"

"This is an imposter Link!" Tetra cried, her sword creeping closer to Wind.

"I'm sorry, I think we got on the wrong foot. You said your name is Link from this timeline? Then is there two heroes?" Time asked, clearing his throat. "We are the past heroes, and we've been traveling with Wind over here."

"Wind... wait ARYLL?!" Link cried, moving forward and putting his hand on Tetra's sword lowering it.

"I didn't want to lose you again big brother... I'm sorry." Wind, Aryll? said, frowning at the sand.

The real hero of Wind hugged Aryll.

"Could someone explain what is going on..?" Hyrule asked, scratching his neck.

Here a Tale was told.

A poem from the legend of Zelda series.

Its a long one, oh dear reader. I hope you're ready to embark on a mission. A tale to unfold in front of your eyes. The tale of power, wisdom, courage. In an endless fight.

Here a curse was laid. Of evil laid out before him. A hero stood with a newly made sword. May he slay the king and raise his sword, And frees the maiden from his grasp.

Here a little creature roams. Of which they so tell their tale. Find the ancient sword. Find the elements, Earth, Fire, Water, Wind. And forge it all again.

Here four brothers forged a bond. Against a evil Wind Mage's command. Forced to fight against each other, Forced to go and help their friend. To return the blade to the stand.

Here a hero traveled time. To save Hyrule from its demise. Seven years a song's renewal. Here when the timeline split, As a child, adult and the dead.

Here a pirate sails the seas, Searching for a treasure a bird stole, Underneath the waves reveal. A princess pirate, a master blade. Searching a land from the boats request.

Here a ship stole the captain, Where the pirate had fought so hard for. Fairies, hunters, and a crazy ex. To the bottom, go fight a king. And find that land so promised.

Here a train moves so swiftly, Across the tracks, heading to town. When a villain arises, and trapping the princess in a shell. With their spirit, keep moving on.

Here a hero stopped the moon. Masks hold destiny to them. Sing the giants song, free the kid from the mask. Hurry up, only three days left!

Here a hero fought the twilight. A curse bestowed upon the wolf, A curse given to the queens. Break the mirror, let it last. Because there is something more evil at the scene.

Here a shadow was put to rest. when the blade was pulled again, Awakening an old villain. Travel the land and free the maidens, return home hero, don't forget your friend.

Here a hero saved the land. A trick is played by a mage, Control and sending the maidens away. He freed the maidens, and restored the land. In a place of final doom, he fought his fellow friend.

Here a hero saved a dream. After being washed upon a beach. All the instruments and the Wind fish's call. He fought the nightmare and awoke the dream. Waking up on a drift on the open sea.

Here the hero saved the oracles. Seasons and past, Din and Nayru. Upon the three flames lit, May the evil kind rise again, At the top of the wicked Black Tower.

Here the worlds are connected. The queen driven by despair, To release Power from his sleep. Make a wish, oh dear hero. Save this doomed land.

Here three heroes slayed a witch. To save a princess from a curse. Wielding outfits and shiny new weapons. To get the outfit made of the Lady's Ensemble. The princess is freed once again.

Here a hero rises again. After the fight between the kings. Wisdom split between the land. And enough courage to fight against. And defeating the evil, declared a hero.

Here a hero prevents a resurrection. Upon which the hero's blood may spill. Search for courage, wisdom, power. Unite them at the alter. And may you free the queen in deep slumber.

Here a hero has long since died now awakens to blue light. Princess's magic, now long weakened. Which the divine beasts wreck, a graveyard for friends. Pull the sword, and slay the beast. And free Hyrule back to peace.

Your journey's not over, its only began. An endless cycle of courage, wisdom, power. An endless struggle of the land. May you pull your sword, your shield. And rise to fight all that comes near. A tale to last all these years.

The French, German and Russian heroes

Idea is by @swordsoffour !

I DO NOT SPEAK FRENCH, GERMAN OR RUSSIAN. SO IF ANYTHING IS INCORRECT PLEASE TELL ME AND I WILL AIM TO FIX IT.

"So, you are all the past heroes?" Wild asked, scratching his neck nerviously.

"Yeah, I've been the hero once too many times." Legend sighed, leaning on his hands as he stared into the fire.

They were in a forest in Wild's Hyrule, a peaceful place surprisingly. All the other heroes slumbered quietly as three heroes sat around a low fire.

Four laughed quietly as Wild stared at Legend.

"I mean, eight quests has to count for something." Legend shook his head.

"I mean, yeah. I've only been on three." Four poked the fire a bit.

Wild swiveled his head to stare at Four. "I've only been on one!" he shook his head. "What."

Legend chuckled. "Be glad you've only been on one."

Four nodded. "Yes, my grandpa always told me 'Sei dankbar für das, was du hast' and all that. It means 'be thankful for what you have."

"What language is that? I've never heard of it." Legend tilted his head at Four.

"German."

"Wow, never heard of that language."

"Pourquoi êtes-vous tous éveillés?" A groggy voice asked as a tired Warriors joined the circle.

"Uhm, what?" Wild blinked at the sudden company.

"Hmm?" Warriors blinked tiredly at Wild again. "Oh shoot, did I speak in french. Sorry. I mean, why are you all awake?"

"Oh. Well we all couldn't fall asleep so we've just been chatting really."

"About..?"

"Well anything really." Wild piped up.

"Intresting, anyways. You said that was french? it sounds intresting. German also sounds intresting Four." Legend turned to look at Four and Warriors. "Wild, you know any languages?"

Wild nodded. "We call it Russian."

Legend nodded. "Can you say something for us?"

"Привет, меня зовут Уайлд." Wild said, sitting straight up and nodding. "I just said, 'hello, my name is Wild.'"

"Wow!" Legend's mouth curled upwards.

"You know any languages Legend?"

"Yeah! I think 20, because theres hylian, then lourian..." Legend's voice continued as he listed more and more languages.

Wild smiled at his friends around the fire, thankful to spend this moment with them.

The ghost of the Ranch

Main Navigation Center

My Fic Masterlist

A ghost roamed the ranch. Every time Wild would pass it, he could hear the whispering in the breeze, the shifting of the leaves. The talking of the ghost.

The rumor said that the ghost had been there for thousands of years, desperately searching for something, someone. The ghost never attacked him. All it did was watch, listen and spoke to nobody and everybody. The ghost calls for their lost family, eager to finally be reunited again.

Wild never truly understood the spirit, its words were too quiet and its crying sorrow broke his heart. It says that that ghost waits until the day she can be free.

Until the day she reunites with the one called Wild.

Wild knew, sometimes he thought he could hear the ghost cry his name. His name echoing from her lips and spilling onto the ground like a cascade of water. Until it dries and nothing is left.

She calls im sorrow, the folks say, she is cursed and will never leave. Wild walked towards the ranch, and as he slowly approached, he could hear his name spoken.

The ghost turned towards him, her eyes sulkened and her clothes torn and gracefully flowing behind her.

Her hair, once red and blooming, now dry and grey. A plain ring sat on her index finger and her calloused hands now flickering in the light. Shapes, far duller than the ghost, wandered the place. None could be clearly seen, but they turned towards Wild with expressions familar and yet, new. Sometimes, there are other shapes. All glowing blue. Swords gleam in their scabbards and hats on their heads. Some say that they see a triforce piece glowing on their hands

"Wild" The ghost whispered. "Wild you have finally come." She was home.
