Hi y'all! I'm commandeering today's weekly roundup, for some important reminders:

Drink water and wear sunscreen! Your skin will thank you in the future if you can make it through our monster-fighting years.

If you're like Alex and could kill a cactus, give your plants a water. Most of them like that. Even succulents need it every once in a while.

Listen to your older siblings, they generally have good advice. Yes Alex, I'm talking to you. You can give your opinions on it when Pez lets you take over.

WIP Wednesday Word Search!

The words I got were acquaintance, monk, and challenge.

acquaintance - Exes to What? AU

There’s a bunch of classmates, celebrities, Nora posting a photo dump about their weekly Austen-binge with June popping in every so often in the slides. Pez in another outfit that never fails to fill Alex with awe; they’re the most stylish person he probably knows, and that’s saying something with his revolving door of acquaintances and friends. Ellen with her recent campaign publicity pictures. His dad doesn’t have instagram, but every now and then Oscar’s face shows up on news outlets as the current-seating senator of California. And then, unmistakably enough to Alex’s eyes, there’s also Henry.

monk - ATLA AU

Alex was already in the Avatar State, and finally looking around the room — littered with Fire Nation army uniforms and the remains of a monk who clearly meant something to Alex and June — it's not hard to understand why.

challenge - fake fratboy!Alex who's actually just an animal shelter volunteer AU

So Henry doesn't ask Alex where he goes or why he has new cuts on his hands or what he gets up to whenever he's not in school — only looks at him as if all the burning questions he wants to send Alex's way was his newfound telepathic skill. Does so in the next few days because he can't just let go of things like that, and ultimately only stops when Alex finally shoots back a quizzical look at him. He doesn't look angry, per se, but the littlest hint of a challenge does start resting on his eyebrows whenever he spares Henry a glance.

Six Sentence Sunday!

It's still MORNING here, y'all. Look at ME, posting my part in the MORNING. Don't get used to this haha.

A million thanks to @kiwiana-writes for always greeting me with a tag on these Sunday mornings and forever blowing my mind that someone as wildly talented as you actually wants to read what I write, and to my lovely @ssmtskw for being the sweetest, loveliest human and for giving me a tag this morning as well! I adore you both, and I thank you so so much.

Without further ado, here you are!

“You remember last Christmas?” Of course he remembers. While not the first time Alex had rung him at an ungodly hour of the night, his voice providing the perfect soundtrack to another waking stretch of twilight hours looming ahead of Henry like a lonely, abandoned path that he frequently traversed alone, it was the first time Alex had sought him out for counsel. The first time he’d been made privy to the inner workings not of Alex’s brilliant mind but of his equally brilliant heart. His first glimpse not at the perfect First Son of the United States, all charming smiles and clever quips, but of a youngest child who wanted nothing more than a quiet, peaceful holiday spent with a family fractured into two pieces years before, their jagged edges still capable of wounding all who ventured too close. It was the words of a son tired of straddling the ever-widening chasm between two pieces of his heart. Henry wouldn’t forget that night, couldn’t forget that night, and all of the private thoughts and fears that Alex had entrusted him with, for as long as he lived. “I do,” is all that Henry manages around the lump in his throat.

Threesgiving is starting to give! ignore the fact i totally dissected it and rewrote parts and still have multiple vignettes. it’s fine, everything’s fine

And this has been new too, that lethargic frenzy of want and utter give Henry falls under when Alex finds the right string of vowels on his tongue, or the perfect tiptoe between sweetness and sting to balance Henry on.

HEHEHEHE HI ROOP. Thank you for asking about these babies. OKAY. SO.

2. 5+1 fake frat boy Alex

— is basically the five times all signs point to Alex's reputation of being a frat boy, and the one time Henry finds out the truth behind it himself. (The truth being that he's just really an animal shelter volunteer who obtains all kinds of possible scratches and minor injuries from animal-related activities. LMAO.) It's mostly light-hearted and meme-ish. Here's a snippet instead since I've been sharing a bunch of this already.

The second time Alex's bad boy reputation is brought up, it’s when he makes his way through the cafeteria door with a number of bandages on one side of his face. Donning them like they were little scars of triumph.

Now, Henry is only about twenty percent convinced Alex is actually some mafia/biker gang/fraternity member — he's still adamant on not falling victim to everyone else's opinions about Alex's true nature, lest Alex is actually just a gravely misunderstood individual who actually has a heart of gold beneath his varsity jackets that always wrap around his figure.

3. ATLA AU

— As the working title¿ states, YES I MEAN Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'll give you some of the details about it since it follows the show's progression, which I know YOU'RE already familiar with a Good Amount. It will be multi-chaptered so I don't have an estimate on when I'll ever finish this yet, just that it exists (partially) as of now.

Here's the last line I've written in my Exes to What? fic (gave it a working title and all). Hehe. Cheating a bit with the enclosed line but pls don't perceive me.

Karaokes were always the easiest way to loosen up a Henry Fox, even his favourite drink could never give him enough liquid courage to do so, but give him a mic and a dream and you'll have Henry in his element. (Alex is not entirely sure why he knows that, or still knows that; it's been over a year since they broke up.)
