becoming a better student ₊˚⊹♡

Prepare for your classes ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆

Wake up on time. We don't want to be stressed first thing in the morning, right?

Eat breakfast. So you will be able to better focus in class.

Assigned reading and homework. Make sure you are prepared for your classes!! :)

Review your notes. Going through some of your flashcards before class is really helpful.

Check your bag and charge your devices. Ensure you have everything you need: Books, homework, chargers, pens, water...

In Class ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆

Listen and pay attention. You can save yourself a lot of trouble by simply paying attention, trust me.

Take notes. My favourite note-taking method is the Cornell method; I can make a separate post on that!! <3

"Quick notes." If you struggle with note-taking, try taking quick and messy notes. You can clean them up once you get home!!

Engage. If you have any questions or don't understand something, make sure to ask!! Most teachers really appreciate students who speak up. :)

No distractions. Turn off your phone, no chatting, you'll be glad...

After class ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆

Finish your assignments as soon as you can. Go home, put on a cosy outfit, have a snack, and get working!! <3

Prepare flash cards. A great way of reviewing your notes, too... :)

Update your Study schedule. Write down any assignment and due dates, reading you must do, upcoming tests, etc...

Clean up your notes. Review them, highlight the important parts, and maybe even make them look cute!! :)

Don't avoid topics/Subjects you dislike. I know it is tempting, but you can't avoid them forever, so you might as well get them done

Structure and routine ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆

Goals and Priorities. Keep them realistic and manageable.

Time management. Having a set schedule makes studying less overwhelming; it takes some discipline but is so worth it!! <3

Develop a routine. Figure out what works best for you; I prefer studying in the morning or at night.

No "zero days". Even if you can only do a bit, do it!! NO. ZERO. DAYS.

Remember your goals. Dreams will keep you motivated; remind yourself of what you're working for!! <3

Self-care and balance ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆

Don't forget about your hobbies. You need to do things that make you happy, so make time for those things!!

Maintain a balanced diet. I know chocolates and junk are tempting, especially when you are busy studying all day, but you're not doing yourself any favours.

Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. 8 Hours. Non-negotiable.

Exercise regularly. Even if it's just a walk, put on some headphones, listen to music, and give yourself a break. <3

Care for your social life. Reach out to your friends, make plans, and keep in touch; a good work-life balance is critical!!

Romanticising ˚୨୧⋆｡˚ ⋆

Study dates. Meet up with your friends at a cosy cafe, discuss your work, and have some fun!! Studying doesn't have to be all serious all the time ;)

Silly Pinterest boards. Visualising your goals will help you find motivation!!

Music to set the mood. I have a bunch of playlists on my Spotify that might help!! <3

Cosy sweater and candles. The cosy Rory Gilmore vibes haha...

Getting a coffee before class. A little treat before things get serious... Simple pleasures, you know? :)

How about some Yelena facts 😌💕

I have so many Yelena headcanons posted I feel like I might run out, so these are absolutely random and off the top of my head.

Absolutely obsessed with the Oreos + peanut butter combo. Coincidentally, also a big fan of the Lindsay Lohan Parent Trap.

Hisses at feral cats but also periodically feeds them.

I stole this from TikTok (if someone knows the creator's name tell me so I can direct people their way), but because the Red Room pheromone brainwashing was developed from the Winter Soldier program, Yelena treats Bucky like her long-lost grandfather. She calls him deda/dedushka. Bucky takes to it surprisingly well.

Whenever anyone brings up the fact that Alexei is her father, she says "he's not my real dad". Whenever anyone shit talks Alexei or reiterates that he's not her biological father, she says, "hey! that's my dad you speak about."

I feel like Yelena and Matt Murdock have run into each other at some point, and I'm obsessed with the mental image that brings me.

"You can't just shoot people without reason."

"I am number one assassin in the world, horny boy. I can do as I want."

Hates the little outfits people dress their dogs up in on the basis that the freedom to choose your own self expression is extremely important to her. Yelena's dog had the option of at least three different collars and she went with the one that it ran to first.

Unhinged gift giver. Finds the thing that you were 100% sure was sold out, refuses to tell you how she obtained it beyond "I know a guy".

Crossover Ships: Encanto

Good morning, afternoon, or evening to anyone reading this post.

When it comes to the 2021 movie Encanto, I have been a fan of it since I watched the movie in February of 2022. As such, I have been reading and writing fanfiction about it.

Key players in fandoms and fanfiction are ships and crossovers, especially crossover ships. Often, people ship two characters from different works/fandoms because they are very similar to each other. Some examples related to Encanto include Isabela and Elsa and Mirabel and Hiro, which are my two favorite Encanto crossover ships.

The problem with Encanto headcanons

As a Colombian I LOVED Encanto, but I know people have headcannoned Isabela as lesbian and Mirabel as bisexual among other characters. The issue with that is..

There is no issue.

In 2020 this was such a prominent issue to people and even 4 years later I have no idea why so many people took issue with this. It was fine for people to headcanon Elsa as lesbian, it was fine for people to headcanon Merida as lesbian, but all of sudden it's "forcing representation" and "taking away from the main story" if Isabela gets headcannoned as lesbian?? NOBODY is saying this for Max Goof and Bradley Uppercrust III when the movie was trending. NOBODY was saying it was forced representation when people shipped Bill Cipher and Ford Pines (even though the fact its gay isn't the issue but the fact it was a very manipulative relationship was but many people ignored that). And it's not bad to headcanon any of these things for any of these characters. I just don't understand why it was such an issue when Isabela (who's whole arc is honestly very WLW coded) gets called a lesbian. And its the fact its coincidentally a Hispanic character (I'm not implying ANYTHING.)

Overall, as a Colombian while i dont speak for every Colombian it never was and still isn't offensive to headcanon any Encanto character as queer since many people figured it was. Both the story and the headcanon can coexist. Acting this way won't get you approval from homophobes and transphobes! They still hate us stinkabutt 🤞

TL;DR : there was nothing wrong with headcanoning an Encanto character as queer in 2020 and there still isn't anything wrong with it in 2024.
