Meeting with Deku’s friends again was... interesting. Todoroki he could speak to just fine. Bakugou on the other hand... He wondered if the blonde would ever warm up to him. Oh well.

He thought Deku’s idea of the mall was perfect. Rody would be able to see multiple stores all in one place. Although he had put on some nicer pants and a relatively “new” hoodie, that he might have sewn some plaid onto for more style, he was still wearing his same old shoes. Rody really wanted to save money where he could.

“Woah... We definitely won’t get to all of them.” He started, turning towards Deku. “I’m open to any store recommendations you got though. Or we can explore the new ones right away.” Even with his focus on the hero, Pino was standing up right on Rody’s head and looking around with a lot of interest. Rody had been to a mall before, but nowhere near as nice as this one.

It took everything in Izuku not to start bouncing up and down where he was standing. He was waiting outside of Gate 15 for an incoming flight from Otheon. Finally, after seven long months of waiting, today was the day! 

Rody was visiting him in Japan!

They had been planning this for months. Instead of spending his extra money on All Might merchandise, he focused all of it towards Rody’s travel expenses and anything they’d end up doing while together for the week. They had practically talked every other day ever since Rody had saved up money to buy a cell phone. They had learned a lot about each other in that time, and despite the long distance between them, Izuku still felt as if they were becoming closer than ever.

So, really... it wasn’t much of a surprise that this was the most excited he’d felt in a very long time. 

As soon as he spotted Rody’s face, his eyes lit up as bright as the sun. He couldn’t help but rush forward and pull the other young man into a fierce hug. He could feel himself tearing up, but he managed to keep the tears at bay. He couldn’t keep the grin off of his face even if he tried to. 

“I can’t believe you’re actually here right now!” he exclaimed with a cheerful laugh. “It’s so great to see you again, Rody!”

Seeing Deku get even redder was causing Rody's mind to buffer. The hero was embarrassed, but he was so cute- no- stop thinking like that! Now's not the time! Pino was persistent, pecking away at his palms as his hands twitched. Pino couldn't be free at a moment like this. No way.

“See! A perfectly reasonable explanation!” He said in response to Deku’s work out answer. Maybe he could get out of this conversation with that.

Or not.

He was rendered speechless at the hero’s question. Part of him wanted to run out of here, but he knew that wouldn’t really do anything. “Um...” Rody tried to hide his face into his own shoulder. He wasn’t used to feeling like this, whatever this feeling was, so it took him a moment to finally respond with what he thought was a proper answer. “...Y-Yes? I mean... I saw the back of you a lot while we travelled and observed you so... I would be lying if I said no.” Now he just hoped that he didn’t make Deku uncomfortable.

Seeing how obviously flustered Rody got by his confrontation only made Izuku’s face feel hotter. “Y-yeah–I-I do a lot of leg works out because half of my attacks utilize kicks…” he stammered. Though, it was hard to focus on anything else when all his mind could focus on was the fact that Rody had, indeed, had to have checked out his ass to make observations like this. 

“S-so, you’ve actually checked out my ass…?!” he asked with an audible voice crack. What did that mean?! Did that mean Rody was attracted to him?! 

Oh god! How was he supposed to react to this?! 

He’d never been around someone who found him attractive before! What does he say in this type of situation…?! 

Izuku didn’t exactly hate that Rody had indirectly admit to admiring his ass, so what did that mean for him?! Did that mean he was happy that Rody found him attractive?! Did that mean he liked Rody…?!

He watched as her usual smile finally came back. It made him happy that he could cheer her up.

Rody couldn’t hold his own smile back as she spoke with more energy this time around. It seemed his words really did mean something to her. “There you go. That’s the mindset you should have.” He smiled bigger. “You’re exactly where you need to be to achieve the best version of yourself. It’s okay to have worries and doubts, but never forget that you will reach your end goal.”

He glanced at her fist before looking back at her, seeing the determination in her eyes. A small laugh came from him. He wasn’t used to the word ‘hero’ being directed towards him. “Yeah, you’re welcome. I’m glad I could help and thanks for... confiding in me.” It was usually hard for Rody to trust others so easily. Thus, it was nice to see that his friend trusted him enough to express her own worries to him.

Ochako's hands turned to fists at her sides, brows furrowing before she shut her eyes. Of course he was right but...it made her feel like...she wasn't enough. "I...can't even make the life of my parents easier. And I don't want to feel like...like I'm not a good heroine." She sighed and opened her eyes. "It's just...I've seen how fragile this whole world is and I wish I could do more, even if I can't do anything for myself."

She put on a sad smile. "I guess that's a silly thought, huh?"

Rody knew the locals. Rody knew the regulars.

He wasn’t one of them.

The guy stuck out as soon as he walked into the establishment. Rody was well-aware that he would have to go greet the newcomer, and could only hope that things went smoothly. He would have to get a feel for the guy. See if he knew what kind of area he was in; what kind of people typically dined here. And if he was one of them.

“Welcome to Stanley’s Bar.” Rody threw on his typical customer service grin as he addressed the green-haired fellow, placing a glass of water on the table in front of him. “I’ll be your little caretaker for tonight. Is there anything I can get for you? Do you need any recommendations?” His name was purposefully not handed out to the other, nor did he wear a nametag. That’s just how this place ran.​
