"here's the immensely time consuming 100K word novel-length passion project I'm working on between my real life job and family! It eats up hundreds of hours of my one and only life, causes me emotional harm, and I gain basically nothing from it! Also I put it on the internet for free so anyone can read if they want. Hope you love it!" :)
I love the idea of Steve just forgetting to tell people he’s bisexual.
He’s actively wine-ing and dining Eddie and it just completely goes over everyone’s head.
Bonus points if Eddie also doesn’t know what’s going on.
He shows up to Steve’s house which is decked out with candles and dimmed lights. A fancy tablecloth draped over the table, the Harrington’s good china is on display, and there’s a fucking rose on the table in a vase.
“Do you have a date or something?” Eddie inquires.
Steve stares back at him, a little dumbfounded by the question. “Yea”
“Oh really? Am I interrupting, you invited me over so I assumed we were going to hang out?” Eddie rambles.
Steve continues to stare at Eddie blankly. “You’re not interrupting, you’re here to spend time with me.”
“What about your date?” Eddie vaguely gestures to the setup.
“Eddie, you are my date.”
“Say what now?”
“I asked you to go out with me!” Steve stressed.
“Yea, but then you called me dude, so I’m sorry if my signals got crossed.” Eddie replied, voice laced with disbelief. “I failed senior year twice, I need clarity.”
“I want to fuck you.” Steve says slowly, sounding out every part of each word carefully.
“Wow! Where’s the romance?”
Steve wordlessly gestures at the set table behind him.
i love that almost all of us have just decided that this man is willoughby tucker

These sorts of background noises are incredibly important to the story told, it places you in these settings and immerses you into it.
You're not being told the story, you're fully placed into it, observing it.
i was thinking about why i like preachers daughter so much aside from the story telling and visual elements and it’s definitely the aspect in some of the songs where there’s a strong ambience in the background. like the bug sounds in hard times, the wind in a house in nebraska, the road traffic in western nights and the flies + church bell in family tree. soo good
interacting with a mutual for the first time: oh fuck i have to say something funny what if they don’t like me do i look okay

When you're attractive (physical, sense of humor, personality, etc) and autistic, it's very hard to get people to take your struggles seriously.
You're frequently alone because you have no idea how to initiate a conversation, read signs of interest, figure out when it's okay to approach someone, etc. You take wild guesses that cause many people to think there's something wrong with you. Sometimes your wild guesses work, but only temporarily. You're right back to being alone shortly after.
You complain about how hard it is to get people to like you.
Then, every once in a while, someone who finds you attractive approaches you and flirts with you. You play along. To anyone who witnesses that, it seems like you have no trouble getting people to like you. They may even be jealous of you. But because you don't know how to continue the interaction beyond just playing along, it doesn't last long. Or you try to continue the interaction without knowing how to do it the right way and your clinginess turns them off.
The next time you complain, they use that one time you were approached as evidence that you're just being negative. But it's not something you can duplicate. It happened out of your control. You can't just wait around for it to happen again. Sure, it probably will happen again eventually, but it could be months before it happens again, and you don't want zero social interaction for months.
if this post gets 5 billion notes, i’ll finish LAM17 tonight
