Your comic about how you used to love to draw.. I sympathize so much. It must be so difficult to process those feelings during times like these. If it is any consolation, the space your art takes up is a joyful, meaningful one in a lot of people's hearts. It's like a language guidebook that creates the foundation of a second language in the mind of the reader. I know how poisonous it can be to think of your art as needing a function, to be small and disposable yet widely used, I hope you are feeling better these days with your art and that you are able to heal. Your art has helped heal a lot of us, but more meaningful is if it is able to heal you
Thank you for sending me this.
Honestly, I think disenchantment with, and then falling back in love with, art-making has been (and probably will always be) a cyclical part of my life. It’s my own little myth of Sisyphus wherein I laboriously roll my absurd art boulder up the hill, convinced that this task matters, only to watch in despair as it rolls back down the hill. I accept that I must do this task again, that my labor doesn’t matter, but pushing the art rock up the hill was fun so I might as well do it again.
Well, my "Hannibal" piece didn't get accepted to Banquet, which sucks because I worked really hard on this and I think it turned out really well.
On the positive side, I have an illustration that I worked really hard on and it turned out really well!
I was inspired by sweetmeats -- food made from offal, such as intestines, testicles and the thymus -- and floral china plates.
Also, I learned that Hugh Dancy is really fucking hard to draw. Mads Mikkelsen has such a distinctive face that he's rather easy to draw, but with Hugh, if you get some detail just a little bit off, it doesn't look like him anymore.

Between my internship and the Asbestos Apartment Boogaloo, I haven’t really gotten to work on a painting since March.
My first run at this portrait, about 2 hrs of work, not including the initial sketch. Trying to get faster and looser with portraits.

Hello, it’s been a long time since I posted here, but I’m still alive!
A scarf made for a cousin, #1.
I never grew up with Simpsons, King on the Hill and avoided Family guy I have little understandings of the first two compared to family guy I wanted to say your comic and art are amazing they feel like they have such heavy lesson to learn and your statement attached about your art and personal identity give me a lot of hope for me and my own art so thank you for sharing it with us all 💕
Thank you for sending me such a nice message! Honestly, the biggest compliments are hearing that my work inspired someone else or that it helped them emotionally. ( ᐛ )و
Hey I just wanted to say I found your comic again-the relationship counseling one, and it's helped me through a bunch of stuff.
I’m glad it could help you. If you’re in a position where you’re not able to/comfortable with seeing a therapist, I totally understand. If you have the opportunity to see a therapist or join a support group, I do recommend it. If the responses to my comic (responses like yours) have shown me anything, it’s that there are a lot of people out there who can relate to these feelings and experiences, and we don’t have to go it alone on working this shit out.

Anonymous said: Would you ever revisit your therapist Bobby comics? They’re fascinating. I read the first one a while back and I haven’t stopped thinking of it since.
Thank you! I’ve said what I wanted to say with the comic, so I have no plans to revisit it. If I get inspired to do more with it for some reason, then I will.
@sjwreaper said: Sorry if this has been asked but did you make your loom? I do a lot of fiber art and weaving interests me, it just seems so complex!
I have two looms now! The “trash loom” I did make myself, and the other was gifted to me by my boyfriend.
I’ve only done handweaving, nothing as complex as a floor loom or even a backstrap loom. I think handweaving can be picked up fairly easily and only ends up as complex as you decide to make it!
These are the websites I used as inspiration/instruction for making my loom and tapestries. The trash loom was made simply by pushing thumbtacks into either end of an empty picture frame.

@lumalalu said: NOT to go on about the chris and bart comic but everytime i see it i think of a new interpretation and i think that's really wonderful
Thank you!
Tbh, the day someone creates an interpretation through fanfic or fanart of MY interpretation through fanart is the day I will ascend beyond this mortal form.
Anonymous said: I love you and I wish Bobby Hill was my therapist tbh.
Thank you! I agree, I would love to have Bobby as a therapist.
