Grudges and Ice Cream (Daichi x Reader)

image

*GIF not mine*

Summary: After your boyfriend completely forgets your one year anniversary together, you decide to give him the cold shoulder. He gives you an even colder shoulder.

A/N: Tired as a biscuit, but I got an idea and wanted to post it. I’ve been going through a dry spell on ideas thanks to this isolation and the fear of accidentally copying another person, so I’m sorry I haven’t been writing much. Here’s something for the totally-underrated Karasuno captain. Enjoy!

Word count: 1779

        Okay, you’ll admit, you forget things a lot. Homework, grocery lists, a name or two. One time you even left cookies in the oven and almost burned your house down. But you never, never forgot important dates. Anniversaries especially. You guessed, in this case, that your boyfriend was your complete opposite. What he had forgotten was almost unforgivable. It was your one-year anniversary. You had even spent a whole week gushing over what you two would do tonight. How could he forget?

       Now, you sat in your room, waiting for a text from Daichi that would probably never come. It was midnight after all. The black screen of your phone was boring into your soul, and your heart began to ache. A tear paved its way down your cheek and soaked into your pajamas before being joined by some friends. It hurt to be forgotten.

       The last time Daichi had communicated with you was a few hours ago when he had texted that practice was running late, and that he probably didn’t have time to come over. Why couldn’t he make time for me on our anniversary? Swiping your phone off your bed and plugging it in for the night, you tugged your knees in tight to your chest and cradled yourself to sleep, salty trails remaining to be seen in the morning.

                               ~~~
       The next day at school, you shut Daichi out any way you could. If he tried to give you a hug, you would shrug him off and walk away. If he tried to talk to you, you would plug in your earbuds and turn to the side. Not once did he lose his patience with you. He would just huff and watch you before leaving, and it almost hurt that he didn’t try harder to know what was going on. You understood you were being petty, but after the night you had, you wanted someone else to feel your frustration.
       The bell at the end of the day was music to your ears. You trudged your way out of class and into the storminess of the outdoors. If you were some weirdo, you would say the rain was fitting with your mood, but let’s face the facts: the droplets were relaxing, satisfying, and were making you happy after the shitty anniversary you had yesterday. Hiking your bag up higher on your shoulder, you allowed a small smile to grow on your face. It dropped like it was hot when you felt a familiar presence next to you.
       “Don’t you have a volleyball practice to get to?” was what you were about to say. You had to bite your tongue viciously to remind yourself that we do the silent treatment in these here parts.
       “So, you’re really going to ignore me all day?” Daichi looked at your expectantly. You simply raised your head haughtily in response, only to catch a raindrop in the eye and blink frantically like you put in the wrong contact. He sighed. “Can you please just tell me what’s wrong?”
       Silence.
       He huffed and his mouth pressed into a hard line on his face. The trip to your house was tense and awkward, and you were running low on pettiness. When the other person doesn’t catch on, it’s just not as satisfying. And he didn’t seem to find you as funny as you did when you slammed his foot in the front door while trying to stop him from coming in. You snickered under your breath at the event before making your way to your room. He followed your every move up until you stepped into the bathroom. A pleasant, skin-scorching shower was just what you needed to rebuild your resolve against your boyfriend. When he finally realized what you were about to do, he backed up with a frown while you slammed the door in his face.
       “YN, please just tell me what’s wrong!” You set your towel on the counter and begin to undress, starting the water to shut out your boyfriend’s pleas. The shower was much-needed, and you let out a sigh of relief at the wave of peace that washed over you. You began to hum a song while washing your hair, only to freeze up at the sound of the door opening. Daichi had stepped into the room, but as you waited with blazing eyes and clenched fists over your intimate areas for the curtain to whip open, the door anticlimactically shut once more. You were simultaneously relieved and disappointed. Not that make-up sex would cause you to forgive him, but it certainly might help. That, however, didn’t seem to be his plan. Shame.
       His actual plan was a million times worse. Like if there was an award for the worst plan ever, your dumbass boyfriend would win. What a dumbass. You had deduced this when you washed away the soap from your body and turned off the now-cold water, reaching blindly from behind the curtain for your towel only to touch damp porcelain. Your pruney hand dug around for a few more seconds before you released a groan of frustration, pulling back the cover just enough to poke your head out and continue the towel hunt.
       “Daichi!”
       Your boyfriend entered with a smug smirk and a towel in hand. “Yes, my love?”
       “Really?” You gestured to the cloth with raised eyebrows and pursed lips.
       “Yep.” He nodded.
       “How old are you?”
       “I’m just giving you a taste of your own medicine, sweetheart. I mean seriously, the silent treatment? I already have to deal with enough children at volleyball.” He waved around the towel while he ranted and you scoffed at the slight. Stupid, man-stealing sport.
       “Look, just give me my towel already, it’s getting cold!”
       “Just tell me what’s wrong and I will.”
       “Umm, how ‘bout you just try to figure that one out on your own?”
       “Then how ‘bout you just sit in there and enjoy the hypothermia?” His voice was tight and his face scrunched up angrily.
       “Fine, I will!” You fiercely close the shower curtain and sit on the wet floor, huffing sourly. The air of the room is thick with steam, but the tension it’s mingling with is thicker. Daichi seems to grow tired of it and leaves the room once more, his stomps trailing out into the hallway. After peering out once more, you become confused when your towel is still gone. What the hell is that doofus doing? You tuck your head back in when he returns, shutting the door and reclaiming his spot on the floor. In his hands, however, was not only your towel, but also a bucket of ice cream. Your ice cream. Rat bastard! He sets your towel back up on the counter along with a second spoon while he digs into your frozen treat with the first.
       “Mmm, this flavor is de-li-cious! You have good taste in ice cream, YN.” You sneer and grumble under your breath, more than pissed off. He chuckles, sounding very self-satisfied. “Oh, I’m sorry, babe, did you want some?”
       “No,” you hiss, hugging your knees to your chest and rapidly rubbing your legs up and down for warmth.
       “If you just tell me what’s wrong, I’ll gladly feed you some.”
       “I’m good.” You shivered.
       “Fine. I guess I’ll just have to eat this all on my own….” He trailed off suggestively, but you only curled in tighter on yourself and set your chin on your knees, pursing your lips in boredom. Here your… boob of a boyfriend was, cockily eating your ice cream in your bathroom, totally unaware of the one-year anniversary that he forgot! You wanted to call him much worse names, but the water drying coolly on your skin was really messing with you at this point. It was freezing in your house, especially during spring, just when it begins to rain outside but it’s no longer cold enough to require the house heater to be on and prepared. This sucked, and your dipwad boyfriend didn’t even know why.
       After some time, he had audibly whipped out his phone and tapped away on it, still noisily chomping on your ice cream. There were no chunks in that flavor anyway, how the hell did he manage to eat it so loudly?! “Oh hey, look, Sugawara just got a new dog yesterday, how adorable. We should go meet it soon, maybe tomorrow?” You clenched your eyes closed and tucked your face down onto your knees. He kept going. “There’s a new restaurant near Coach’s store, we could go there sometime.” A headache grew from how tightly your jaw was clenched, and your teeth ground together harshly. Your lips felt blue and frozen shut at this point. “Aww, how nice. Asahi even wished us a happy… oh shit.” A clang echoed throughout the cooled bathroom. The spoon. “Oh god.” Yeah, dipstick, get it now? “Oh crap. YN, I am so sorry.” One year. One whole year you had been with him. You had just wanted to celebrate it with him. But he forgot.
       “Can I have my t-towel now?” Your teeth chattered and your nose sniffled. The hair on your arms was covered in goosebumps which you repeatedly massaged with trembling hands. Daichi scrambles over and whips open the curtain, hastily wrapping you in the warm cotton cloth before lifting you out and onto his lap. Nervously, he rocks you back and forth in his lap while rubbing your arms comfortingly. He’s whispering rushed apologies into your half-dried hair, obviously rattled at his mistake.
       “N-next time you f-forget, I’m gonna k-kill you.” Your threat lost credibility when you snuggled in closer to his chest, sighing at the warmth. He chuckles shakily and wraps his arms around you tighter.
       “And I wouldn’t stop you. I’m so, so sorry, sweetheart. I’ll make it up to you for the rest of my life.” He presses a kiss into your hair before resting his head on top of yours, holding you closer onto his rather bulky lap while he dismisses the fact that you're a little, erm, au naturel. But you’re not complaining, there’s plenty of room to sit.
       “You b-better,” you mutter, remembering his words.
       “I definitely will, love, I promise. For now, how does some ice cream sound?”
       “F-fucking freezing.”
Childish Ways (Genos x Reader)
image
*GIF not mine*
Summary: You always throw magnets at Genos. He’s gotten used to it at this point.
A/N: I’m a simple person. I get an idea at midnight. I write it. I ruin my sleep schedule just for the hell of it. Hope y’all like it!
Word count: 1592
        Clink.
       You were a Class S Hero, just like him. You were also a teenager just like him. Except for the fact that you still considered washing dishes and buying groceries chores instead of training. And like any kid your guys’ age, you liked to mess around and fuck with people. Which currently explained why you were throwing magnets at him with the hope they would stick.
       You had an audience too. “Ooh, you missed that one.”
       “Yeah, no shit Sherlock.”
       Child Emperor stuck his tongue out at your reply before continuing to suck on his lollipop. The rest of the Class S heroes sat in the dim conference room either boredly grumbling under their breaths or, in Pig God’s case, inhaling a five-star steak dinner. The Hero Association had called them all here under the pretense that there was a Dragon-level threat in the area. Of course, Genos noted the usual heroes were missing: Blast, Metal Knight, and a couple others. So, as the remarkable heroes all laid in wait, they disinterestedly played on personal gadgets and other devices.
       It was early on when Genos found you took a liking to throwing magnets at him. When you first sat in the conference room with him after freshly joining Class S as an exceptional hero, you had excitedly asked if he could ‘hold those souvenir magnets like your fridge at home’ while observing his metallic form up and down. From that day forward, anytime you saw him roaming your city or entering the Hero Association’s onyx skyscraper, you would pull out a handy stack of flat magnets and flick them at him like a deck of cards.
       Ding.
       “YN, you have terrible aim.” The child who sat next to you watched your Hawaii magnet hit the server robot in the corner of the room, causing it to let out a slew of concerned beeps before toppling over.
       “Shut it, pipsqueak, I’m working on it.” You stick your tongue out of the corner of your mouth, squinting at your target before flicking the card with your super-powered strength. It flew past an undisturbed Genos’ head, ruffling his bangs on the way by before smacking anticlimactically into the wall behind him. Saitama next to him lets out a humorous grunt before returning to drawing on the illuminated table with his gloves.
       “Craaaap.” You groan and dramatically drop your head down onto the glass surface. Child Emperor pats your back reassuringly.
       “One day, YN.”
       “It’s gonna happen today, squirt. Just watch me.” With a newfound, unearned enthusiasm, you whip your head back up and eye Genos, who unblinkingly stares back, completely unaffected. The cyborg was used to this, and was no longer threatened by your magnet-throwing like he had been at first. In the beginning, he had taken a fighting stance after your first lob, pointing his bodily weapons at you only to flinch in surprise when you screamed in fright. Since then, he let you have your fun, now knowing it was harmless… and a little endearing.
       Genos was drawn out of his thoughts when a particularly small object made contact with his cheek, hitting it harshly before bouncing off and rebounding into Saitama’s unassuming face.
       “Double kill!” you announced in a mockingly deep voice before victoriously high-fiving the ten-year-old next to you. After that win, you excitedly wiggle in your seat, already aiming another magnet at him for consecutive bullseyes.
       “Go for the throat!” Child Emperor advises from beside you, pointing at Genos with shining eyes and bouncing up and down in his chair. You give him a disturbed look.
       “There’s something wrong with you, kid.” You shake your head but still flick the magnet from between your fingers.
       Fwap.
       “AW YEAHHH!” You both cry out triumphantly, fist-bumping at the success.
       “YN! Child Emperor!” With perfect timing, director of the association enters the room and hurls dirty looks at the two of you.
       “Sorry sir.” Following the scolding, your face grows ashamed and you swivel away in your chair, plopping your elbow onto the table and disappointedly tucking your chin into your hand.
        After the excitement dies down, Genos peels a France magnet away from his forehead wordlessly. He watches your form out of the corner of his eye and smiles softly, silently tucking the souvenir into his pocket.
                               ***
       “You totally like Genos.”
       The Class S hero was standing dutifully outside of the bathroom, waiting for his master to do his business when he overheard you and Child Emperor still exiting the conference room.
       “Well duh. How’d you figure that one out, genius?” Genos shifted on his feet at your confession. At least one of you had your emotions figured out.
       “C’mon YN, you’re like, way old, just tell him!”
       You scoff. “I’m only a few years older than you! Anyways-”
       “Still,” the child muttered under his breath.
       “Anyways,” you interrupted bitterly, “it’s not like he’s gonna like me back. He’s totally cute, but quiet and emotionless.”
       “I’m not sure I wanna hear this anymore-”
       “I’m not gonna confess any time soon, and neither is he. I’m just too nervous and shy.” Your voices were growing closer and the cyborg panicked, pushing his way into the men’s room and holding the door open just enough that he could continue eavesdropping.
       “Pansy-ass, just do it. He’s like a robot, what’s he gonna do?”
       “Shut it, you know he’s more than that. For now, I’ll just stick to-”
       “Genos?” Saitama exited the stall, staring bewilderedly at his disciple. “Did you follow me in here?” He began to wash his hands while still warily eyeing the blond.
       Genos stays silent for a second, contemplating the conversation he had just overheard. You were attractive by societal standards, and never tried to actually hurt or insult him. Plus, you reminded him of a part of himself he lost long ago. A part he could never have again thanks to his vendetta and cybernetic self. You were playful and fun-loving, and so optimistic about life that it reminded him of happier days in his old schools, surrounded by other kids who thought life would always be that easy. Memories of you throwing magnets at him stood brighter than any others that he had formed since the death of his family, and he liked it that way. He liked the effect you had on him. No, he liked you.
       “Master,” Genos suddenly voiced. The bald hero hummed while exiting the bathroom, the blond trailing after.
       “How do you confess your romantic feelings to a girl?”
       “What the hell, Genos?!”
                               ***
       It was perfect. It was grade school, and he liked to think it reflected the same childishness of you throwing things at him to hint that you harbored a crush on him. It was a handwritten note, and Genos traveled all the way to your city to deliver it to you.
       “YN,” he monotonously called out when he spotted your figure observing the streets from a rooftop. You grew scarlet at the sight of the cyborg making his way up to you. Nervously, you began to twirl a lock of hair around your finger, watching with wide eyes as he approached you emotionlessly.
       “Genos.” Your voice caught in your throat as you struggled to breathe normally.
       “Here.” His face was intimidatingly blank, but you expected nothing less as he presented a folded up note to you. With trembling hands, you accepted the slip of paper and unfurled it slowly.
       You attract me like my metal attracts your magnets.
Time stopped.
       You pinched yourself then closed your eyes harshly, opening them only to see the note still held those words. Looking back up at Genos, you began to giggle slightly. Then you started to laugh. It slowly grew into the elegant wheezing of dying camel as you held your stomach from the pain, your face frozen in hilarity. Your chortles didn’t stop until you saw Genos’ shoes back up slowly, and you glanced up to see his head turned away in shame. Quickly, you stood up straight, coughing awkwardly to disguise the remnants of your humor while wiping away a few tears that had leaked.
       “I- guh,” you guffawed before covering your mouth guiltily, “I’m sorry, I don’t even know why I’m laughing.” He didn’t respond or even move a muscle, so you continued. “I like you too, and this,” you hold up the note, “this is the best thing I have ever gotten from somebody.” You beam while taking a couple steps toward him. A gasp almost slips out at the sight of his glowing, yellow eyes at last staring into yours. Your heart begins to pound uncontrollably in response, and he comes closer as well.
       “Good, I’m glad.” His smile was stiff and insincere at first, but when you returned your gaze to the cheesy note, it grew soft and genuine. You nodded along with his words while biting your lip and observing your scuffed shoes. Then, your eyes grew to the size of saucers when his hand came up and prompted you to look at him with a small pressure on your chin. You obeyed and watched perplexedly as he fished for something in his pocket.
       “Does that mean I can keep this, then?” Genos then whipped out an item you had been searching for since last week.
       “YOU STOLE MY FRANCE MAGNET?!”
       “You threw it at me.”
       “IRRELEVANT!”
Betrayal (Garou x Reader) *Request*
Betrayal (Garou X Reader) *Request*
*GIF not mine*
Request: Uh hi I don't know if I had already asked this but I was wondering if you could do Garou with a s/o who is Bang's granddaughter who knows the same level of martial arts that Bang does.
Summary: You were interested in Garou ever since he stepped foot into your grandfather’s dojo. But after he attacks the others and gets expelled, you have to try and forget every emotion that’s ever festered for him over the years.
A/N: Sorry, I went a little overboard. But I loved this idea so much, and thank you for the request! Dear God, I hope and pray this one posts. (Edit: GUH I dont know how to post thisssss) Anyways, hope you like it!
Word count: 3145
       You’ve watched him for years, and over that time you had grown to admire him. Grown to admire his ambition for power.
                             ***
      “Teach me how to fight!” the white-haired boy demanded. He was roughly your age, maybe a year older, but as you watched from behind the sliding door of your grandfather’s dojo, you couldn’t help but gasp at his words. Bang, however, only smiled.
      “Okay, you can train alongside my granddaughter in the back during classes. She can teach you many things, and help you when necessary.” You preened at his praise and stepped into view, only to flinch at the snarl the new boy threw you. Well he’s mean.
      The next day, whenever you commented on his amateur form, Garou would sneer at you and deny your words. After Bang had backed up your claims several times following this, however, the boy began to lower his walls, only slightly, but enough to trust you.
      Months after that, the two of you became great friends, and harbored elementary crushes on one another like most at that age would.
      “Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!” you both shouted, Garou squealing after you smack him on the head viciously.
      “That hurt, YN!” You giggle.
      “It’s supposed to!” He glares at you playfully before attempting to tackle you, only for you to kick him back harshly into the dojo walls mid-laugh. The crash causes everyone in the room to freeze and watch Garou wiggle himself out of the indent it had created.
      “YN!” Bang’s shout causes you to jump up and stand at attention. “What have I always taught you.”
      “Restrain and control are necessary for peace,” you recite like a prayer, keeping your eyes low in an attempt to ignore your grandfather’s disciplinary gaze.
      “Good, now go help Garou wash up. And apologize.” You nod hastily and grab your friend’s hand, leading him out of the room.
      “I’m not sorry, you know,” you smirk at him with mischievous eyes. The boy copies your expression with willing ease and chuckles.
      “Are you ever?” he asks, and you proudly shake your head in response. “Oh, YN, what would your grandpa think if he knew?”
      “Don’t be a snitch, Garou,” you scold, leading him into the bathroom and gesturing for him to give you his uniform to wash.
      “I would never betray you, YN. But seriously, you gotta teach me that kick one day, it’s super powerful!” He trembles with excitement while shimmying off his karategi and handing it to you.
      “I-I don’t know. My grandfather has been teaching me since birth, I wouldn’t know where to begin with you.”
      “Ugh,” Garou huffs irritably, “that old man has never been willing to show me anything more than the others. How do I-...” he trails off while staring at you, obviously plotting something.
      “I don’t like it when you think, Garou, it usually ends badly.” His lips slowly curl up into a sly grin.
      “YN,” he drags out your name with a pleading expression, “could you be the best girl in the world and ask your grandfather to help me get stronger?” You raise your brows at him and cross your arms.
      “Garou, you know we practice restraint here. It’s all about using our opponent’s strength against them, not always using our own.” His Adam's apple bobs before he nods his head frantically.
      “Yeah, that’s what I meant. I want to learn to get better at… you know, that stuff.” He was your best friend in the dojo, and you always had a soft spot for him. You suppose it wouldn’t hurt to ask Grandpa Bang to help him. Plus, his puppy dog eyes were killer.
      “Ugh, fine!” You wave your arms at him before dropping them at your side, giving in. “I’ll do it-”
      “Thanks YN, you’re the best!” Garou engulfs you in his arms and squeezes you tightly, choking the air right out of you. But he was so warm, and you couldn’t remember the last time someone had hugged you. So you didn’t resist his grip.
      “I am the best,” you grumble, and Garou laughs before holding you tighter.
                              ***
      Unconscious bodies of people you had known since you were a baby were scattered all over the dojo floor. Your friends. As you returned to the training room of the building, you gasped at the sight of them all, and whimpered at the figure standing in the center of it all.
      “You’re all so weak,” Garou kicked the body next to him away before observing the rest. “To think I ever had to train at the same level as you numbskulls.” He sneered cruelly at every single one of them, not minding to step on a few hands on his way to the exit.
      “I’ll never get stronger here, learning restraint and all that other bullshit.” He whipped open the doors before stopping at a small voice.
      “Garou,” you whispered, tears streaming down your face. At some point in the ten years that you had known him, he had changed drastically. He had grown mad with a hunger for power, and every spar session he had with the others became serious and bloody. It seems today he had finally snapped.
      “What have you done?” Your vision blurs as your cheeks dampen. Your whole body is trembling, not only with fear but with utter, complete betrayal.
      Garou doesn’t say a word. The lines on his forehead deepen and his eyes sadden, looking away to avoid your wounded gaze. In an instant, his form disappears out the door, and at the same time a presence arrives behind you.
      “He became corrupt,” your grandfather solemnly states behind you, setting a comforting hand on your shoulder. “He grew obsessed with gaining power, and now he is expelled from this dojo forever.” You blink rapidly to dry the wetness of your eyes, but your cheeks are still stained. How could he? You scrunch up your nose to hold back another flow of tears. Why did he have to do this? Your efforts fail.
      “I’m sorry, YN.” Bang has always been a strict grandfather. Never showing physical affection, always done through praise of your abilities and gentle smiles. So when he pulls you into a once-in-a-lifetime hug, you can’t help but break down into convulsing sobs in his arms.
      Why wasn’t I enough to stop him?
                              ***
      Power had always come easy to you. It flowed through your blood, literally. Your grandfather’s genes had influenced you to become a strong, capable person. But you didn’t care to nurture that power after what Garou had done. From that day forward, you took one section of Bang’s guidance and transformed it into a future job prospect. You wanted to be a teacher, but not in the dojo.
      However, you were still only in high school, so you held onto that dream and began a job as a babysitter.
      “Tareo!” You searched high and low for the child. Every inch of that playground had been scoured by you.
      Where is that little bastar- I mean, wonderful little biscuit.
      Using rude names in reference to others was a hard habit to break, but necessary for how often you found yourself around children. You had gotten it in your time around him, always hating on others and being distrustful of them. In the time that Garou had left your life, you realized how much of an effect he had on you in your younger years. He had been, after all, your only friend.
      “Tareo, where are you?!” you shouted, checking under the slide for the third time. You groan aloud when you come up empty, receiving weird stares from the rest of the park’s patrons.
      “I’m not a bad babysitter, I swear,” you laugh nervously to the crowd of parents and kids, “the boy is just a little rat-” you cough awkwardly, “I mean, fun child.” Smiling sarcastically, you walk past the families who jump out of your path dramatically and try not to flip them off.
      Maybe he was right. Humans are soft. Bunch of sissies can’t even agree out loud that kids are a pain in the-
      “...and this one shoots bullets using a slingshot!” Tareo! You finally found him!
      “Mmhm, interesting. Can I see the book?” A random man hanging around the child you’re supposed to be surveilling! Fucking wonderful!
      “Tareo!” you push through the bushes and try to ignore the fact that there was a sidewalk five feet away, dusting off the leaves your sweater had collected. “Where have you been, kid? I’ve been looking all over… for… you.” Your semi-pleased tone dies off when you notice the man next to him. Your whole body tenses, rearing for a fight while you clench your jaw angrily.
      “Aww, and we just got to the good part too!” He spoke, smiling pleasantly at you. On the other hand, his eyes held an emotion you didn’t care to identify in the moment. You were trembling under his gaze, not with terror, but with rage.
      “Tareo, we have to go right now,” you seethed, curling your hands into fists while you stood frozen in place.
      “Or you could join us, YN,” Garou suggested, relaxing a strong arm along the bench behind the child.
      “Tareo, now!” you ordered, practically erupting with fury. The kid only sighed.
      “Sorry, old man, I gotta go. See you next time!” Tareo cheered, hopping off the public seat and stepping in your direction.
      “Bye bye, twerp.” Garou smugly waved and you sneered at him, snatching Tareo’s hand and dragging him away. “Good to see you again, YN!” he called after you. This time, you didn’t hesitate to show him the bird, much to the horror of the parents around you. Gasps mingled with Garou’s chuckle in the distance, and you tried not to revel in the nostalgic sound.
                              ***
      Grocery store sales attracted you and your grandfather like a fly to a piece of crap. Sadly, Bang had to stay behind today to teach a class, but said you were free to go without him. Occasionally, you would help him train the younger students at the dojo, but you tried to avoid doing it for too long, not wanting to remember a damn thing about him.
      “Ooh, Genos look! Eggs are on sale for cheap!” You tried not to stare at the bald man and his cybernetic friend beside you while you grabbed your own carton and tossed it into your basket.
      “Excellent find, master.” Master? “Eggs also promote healthy hair growth.” Oof.
      “I didn’t say it was for my hair!” You snickered all the way to the checkout line, hoping the bald one hadn’t heard you. You were dreaming big, because when you had first heard the robotic blond’s comment, you had choked on your own spit.
      “Twenty-seven, thirty-five is your total.” The cashier smiled good-naturedly at you, but her empty eyes whispered “kill me.” Giving her an awkward, apologetic smile, you held up the cash, only for a hand to reach in front of your own and hand her a fifty.
      “I got it,” a deep voice sounded beside you. Son of a bitch! You glared over at Garou and gave him the most disdainful sneer you could manage. “And just my strawberry yogurt too.”
      He followed you out of the store, ignoring every dirty look you threw at him.
      “Not even gonna thank me for paying? Where have your manners gone, YN?” He shook his head and pursed his lips. All right, you could play along.
      “I thought you hated strawberry yogurt,” you monotonously say, itching to sucker-punch Garou every passing second.
      “Well, I did, but recently, it’s been uh… growing on me.” He gave you a sweet smile that almost stopped you in your tracks. Faltering, you return to your earlier pace and spot a dark alley up ahead. The sun was beginning to go down, so now was as good a time as ever.
      “Cool. I like it too.” You speak distractedly, waiting for the perfect moment.
      Garou sighs deeply. “I know, that’s why I started-” Now!
      Nobody was anywhere in the nearby vicinity, so you swiftly upper-cut Garou with enough force to knock him into the dead-end alley. Tossing your broken bag of groceries aside, you clash with him just as he returns to his feet, blocking your punch in the nick of time.
      “You son of a bitch!” you scream, delivering rapid kicks and punches wherever you can find an opening. “You evil bastard!” Blue mist begins to trail after every blow you deliver, and this encourages you to go faster.
      “YN-” he blocks a rather sudden jab to his face, only to receive a kick in the no-no square. He keels over and groans painfully. “Fuck,” he mutters breathlessly.
      You step back and gather enough momentum to deliver another roundhouse kick directly to the side of his head, watching as he goes flying into the brick wall of the side-alley.
      “Rot in hell, you dickhead!” Your voice cracks and your eyes water. You hadn’t realized you were crying the whole time until you felt your soaked, puffy cheeks.
      Garou, on the other hand, is twitching on the ground, fists digging into the asphalt to find enough support to rise once more, only to flop back on the ground like a dead fish.
      “I certainly don’t miss that move,” the white-haired male chuckles, turning his head to spit out a loogie of blood. He lets out a loud groan before rolling onto his back, breathing heavily and letting out a small laugh every few seconds.
      “Why did you do it?” you whisper, head ducked and staring at your shoes, “Why did you attack them?” Your words are shaky and unstable, much like your emotions in this instant.
      “I never wanted to hurt you, YN.” He lifts his head to observe you before dropping it back down once more, losing energy instantly.
      “Then why did you do it?!” you roar, eyes wide and watching him with pure, uncontrollable rage.
      “Because,” he laughs bitterly, spitting out more blood before making eye-contact with you. His pupils are dilated wildly, almost completely blocking out the beautiful yellow that was once there. “You had it. Bang had it. His old brother, that bastard had it too.” He comes up to his elbows, leaning on one to run a bloody hand through his hair. “The power.”
      “What are you talking about?” you beg, knees beginning to grow weak. God, you were worn out, not only from the fight but also from the conversation, both wreaking havoc on your emotional stamina.
      “Water Stream, Rock Smashing Fist,” he wheezes out through crushed teeth. “You can take anybody’s power and use it against them.”
      “Garou,” your voice trembles again, “you already have that. Why do you want more? What else is there?”
      “You don’t know your own limits, YN! I don’t know mine either. Because we don’t have any.” You scoff brokenly, shaking your head and backing away.
      “Garou,” you swallow around the lump in your throat, “your search is only gonna bite you in the ass one day.” With a bitter smile, you back away and leave the alley, not wanting to look at his bruised face for another second.
                              ***
      Only a month had passed since you had beaten the shit out of him, and a lot had changed in that time. Garou had tracked you down to your own house, begging, pleading for something you don’t even remember. Maybe he wanted forgiveness, or comfort, or help and healing.
      That night, you provided it all. And he hasn’t left your side since.
      “YN! You’re home!” you smile at the white-haired man jumping up from your couch and rushing to greet you with a warm hug.
      “Yep, and you’re still here. What a shame.” You jab at him playfully and he sticks his tongue out at you before licking the side of your cheek with it. The reaction is instant.
      “Gross, dude!” you push away his face and scrub your own frantically, “What are you, a dog?”
      “I followed you around like a lovesick puppy for most of my childhood, what did you expect?” He nuzzles his nose against yours, pulling you closer via your hips and brushing a strand of hair away from your face. Every touch he provides leaves a tingle you find pleasure in easily.
      “True,” you mumble, staring deeply into his eyes while he walks backwards, still holding you. You yelp as he falls back onto your couch, taking you with him. Giggling against his chest, you try to scramble out of his grip, but he squeezes the breath out of you to prevent an escape.
      “Don’t leave yet,” he whispers against your neck, “I want to cuddle you. I’ve missed you.” You sigh happily at the feeling and relax in his hold, slipping your legs around his own to straddle him before resting your head on his warm chest.
      “I was only gone for two days you know.”
      “I’ve been missing you for much longer than that.” You rest your chin on his chest and stare up at him while he looks down at you. Your arms reach up and into his hair, combing through the white strands gently while his eyes flutter closed.
      “I know,” you whisper. Your heart pains at the thought of losing him again, even after all the terrible things he has done. The truth was, however, that deep down he was still the boy who came into your grandfather’s dojo asking for revenge. He was still the boy who fell for you, and you were still the young girl who loved him at first sight. Even though he was kind of an asshole. “I missed you too,” you whisper hesitantly. Garou smiles with his eyes still closed, and he reaches down to brush his lips against your forehead tenderly. The soft caresses of his fingers up and down along your back contrast wonderfully with the firm muscles you’re lying on and running your hands over. Every divet of his begs to be memorized by you, so you listen in the silence of the room. One of Garou’s glowing, yellow eyes pop open, this time dilated from love rather than pain.
      “You’re not gonna become one of those annoying heroes, are you?” You laugh whole-heartedly and turn your ear down onto his chest, listening to the quick thumps of his heart.
      “I just might if I get to kick your ass again.”
Hi. I was wonderg if you were planning to continue the (Bokuto/Akaashi x Reader) story. It’s really good
I definitely am, but I’d hate to scare you all off by spilling the beans and saying it probably won’t happen until next summer. Currently, I’m in one of the most important years of schooling, and even on breaks it’s hard to find the time.
I do have a lot more planned for the series, and the feedback it has received makes my heart flutter, but I just want you all to know it will be a while. Thank you for all the love💜💜
Indecipherable Secret Code (Tendou x Reader)
image
*GIF not mine*
Summary: You could finally say you loved him back!...In private. You were just so nervous of how the team would react if you ever said it in public, but luckily Tendou has just the solution.
A/N: I’m so glad you guys have been enjoying my stories recently! Here’s a little Tendou imagine that I got an idea for from this prompt by @otpdisaster. Hope you enjoy!
Word count: 1316
        The room was dark and silent, while rain trickled outside. You snuggle closer into Tendou’s lean arms and revel in the peaceful atmosphere. While basking in the aftermath of a tiring study session, you were being spooned by your red-headed boyfriend on your bed. Lightning flashed outside your window, and it suddenly gave you the courage to say what has been on your mind for a couple days now.
       “Satori?”
       “Hmm?”
       “I-” you take a deep breath, “I think I love you.” You tense in preparation for his reaction, only to feel him press his head into the back of your neck. His fingers twitch against your stomach.
       “I’ve been waiting for you to say it back for weeks now,” he breathes out in relief. You warned him in the beginning of your relationship that you had a difficulty classifying your feelings and communicating them. Tendou had accepted it as a challenge. “I love you too,” he adds at last, grinning wildly against the back of your neck.
       “Umm.” You swallow nervously, not quite finished with the confession.
       “Yes?”
       “I do l-love you-”
       “God, I’ll never get tired of hearing that.”
       “-but I’m not exactly comfortable saying it in front of other people yet,” you rush out, twiddling your fingers next to his own. “I’m really sorry.”
       “Don’t be,” Tendou chuckles and tugs you closer to his warm chest, “that’s completely fine.” His voice deepens and becomes quieter, more serious. “I’m just glad you feel the same way.”
       The room returns to its former silence, allowing the sound of rain splattering against your window to attract your attention. The warmth of the figure behind you begins to take its toll and your eyes flutter closed.
       “If I may ask,” Tendou pipes up once more, intertwining his long legs with your own, “What are you so afraid of?” The question leaves you red and embarrassed. Your feelings were always hard to read, but you decide to take a stab at explaining it.
       “I guess I’m just afraid people will make a big deal out of it. It is kind of abnormal for me to be all lovey dovey, you know?” Yes, it was true. You weren’t the most physically-loving person in the world. But that’s what had drawn you to Tendou in the first place. In the beginning of your relationship when he would hug you, you always hugged him a little longer than he intended, and though it made you feel self-conscious, he was always happy to hold you more and more often.
       Touch-starved. He had called you that one day. It didn’t offend you, and you didn’t quite know if it was true, but it got you more physical contact with him, so you didn’t mind.
       “Well that is true,” he chuckles, then gasps dramatically. The sudden action causes you to flinch and his legs begin to shake against yours anxiously, wiggling the whole bed.
       “What’s got you so excited now?” Your voice wavered thanks to his movements. He was like a puppy dog wagging its tail.
       “I’m a genius!” Are you sure? “I have just discovered the solution to your problem.” His voice is mischievous next to your ear. Uh oh, what does that mean?
                               ~~~

       “Bean orange juice,” Tendou leaned over and whispered to you suddenly, causing your face to erupt in a blush.

       “Bean orange juice too,” you mumble shyly, a small smile growing on your face.

       “What the hell are you two talking about?” Semi spins in his chair and sneers at the two of you in confusion.

       “It’s code.” Tendou waggles his brows at you and you duck your burning face, hair hiding your ecstatic grin like a curtain.

       “For what?!”

       “Semi, please turn around in your chair and pay attention!” The teacher’s scolding forces him to drop the subject, but not before he throws a confused glare at the two of you. Huh, Satori was right. It works.

                               ~~~
       Volleyball practice had just finished, and you were waiting impatiently for your boyfriend to walk you home. “It’s not safe” my ass. I know how to poke someone’s eye out.
       “YN!” Tendou races towards you and lightly smacks you on the forehead. The act makes you blink in surprise and you almost cuss him out before remembering oh right, it’s code.
       “Well right back at ya!” you smirk before thwapping your boyfriend’s forehead a little too excitedly. He stumbles back a step and you begin to sputter an apology.
       “Oh, Satori, I’m so-” Your eyes widen in surprise when he starts to crack up.
       “Gee, YN, I didn’t know you felt that strongly about me!” He drops a sweaty arm around your shoulders and directs you out of the gym with a wild smile, causing you to grin back up at him fondly.
       “Okay, those two are weird, but have they always been that weird?” Shirabu furrows his brows, watching the two of you exit the schoolyard while patting each others’ foreheads repeatedly.
       “Yes,” Semi answers, pursing his lips and shaking his head. “They’re always that weird.”
                               ~~~

        It was their first game of the season, and you wanted to give Tendou some personal encouragement before he began practice.

       “Satori!” You wave to get his attention before jogging out to the court, wary of flying balls. His eyes gleam while he approaches you, smiling in amusement when you hold out your hand.

       “Good luck.” Your cheeks are flushed and you beam at him when he accepts the offer, shaking your hand gently.

       “Thank you.” He winks at you and squeezes your hand once before releasing it. Goshiki watches this interaction in complete awe behind his eccentric teammate, eyes aglow while he waits as if in line. Just as you watch Tendou walk away, the first year pops up into your vision, scaring the absolute life out of you.

       “Hey YN!” He grins, sticking out his hand, “Put her there!” You giggle at his eager actions  and shake your head solemnly.

       “Sorry Goshiki, I just don’t feel that way about you.” With a wave, you exit the gym, presumably to go cheer from the stands. Tendou smirks and pats his teammate’s shoulder before trotting over to practice. Frozen in shock, the poor spiker stares at his hand incredulously.

       “Why can’t I have a handshake?”

                               ~~~
They won, and they were going to Nationals once again. While it was nothing new for the boys, Tendou always grew excited at the fact, and you were just the same.
       “Satori!” You raced down to the court.
       “YN! We’re going to Nationals!” He laughs joyfully after you tackle him in a hug, pressing him as close as possible to your chest.
       “I know!” you nod with him, face stuck in a grin that was beginning to ache. “You did amazing!” Now’s your chance! Do it, YN!
       “I-” you swallow and take a deep breath, leaning back to gaze into his eyes while you finally say it in public. “I…” your chest deflates. I can’t do it. “I hate Shirabu,” you mutter, looking away ashamed. Said boy squawks in offence behind you.
       “Hey,” Tendou lifts your chin, flashing you a reassuring grin, “it’s okay.” He cups your face and draws you in closer. “I hate Shirabu too,” he whispers softly, pressing his forehead against yours. His maroon eyes are peering so adoringly into your own that you can’t help but sigh in relief, drifting forward to press your lips against his.
       Shirabu, however, is less than impressed by your words.
       “Okay, what the fuck, you two?!”
