Inscryptober Week 4: Holiday

Today is April First, and everone knows what that means! It’s Pumkin’s Feets Day!

helloooo inscryption friends!

it is time once more for scrybruary, the february writing event for drabblin about your favorite card game blorbos! no big descriptions for the prompts this year, interpret them however u please :3 and if you're not as much of a writer, feel free to let these prompts inspire some illustrations too! if i'm feelin up to it i may write a few blurbs for any of said illustrations hoohoo

as always, there's no pressure to participate during every single week! write as much or as little as your heart desires; i'll personally probably just be polishing up an old draft or two :3 excited to see what everyone puts out this year! make sure to pop any posts in the #scrybruary tag hoohoo

A simple question of what Magnificus looks like under all his hair somehow led to the creation of the Dinoscrybes AU. Grimora is a Citipati, Leshy is a Guanlong, Magnificus is a Beipiaosaurus, and P03 is a Balaeniceps rex (otherwise known as the shoebill).

The “story” here is pretty loose, but Leshy was trapped in ice during the late Jurassic and was discovered and revived millions of years later in the late Cretaceous by Grimora and Magnificus, the latter of whom is magically immortal (don’t question it, it’s magic). P03, on the other hand, is from the far-flung future and was transported millions of years back in time by the scientists at the Kaminski Research Institute. Now they all have to get along or die trying until P03′s humans can find a way to bring him back to the present day.

Bonus size comparison! I wanted them all to be around the same height, but Grimora gets to be a little taller as a treat :3

Inscryptober Week 2: Time Warp

I love medieval settings so I naturally wanted to come up with one for this week’s prompt. P03′s head here is a wax tablet and he can instantly change the carvings on it to anything he wants (usually his own disgruntled face), though one can also draw on him with a stylus. The rest of his body, I imagine, is mechanical under that armour. 

Leshy, like in folklore, can change his height at will to be as tall as the highest tree or as short as a blade of grass. He’s the terrifying guardian of the forest P03 was supposed to vanquish. Mission failed (successfully).

Have a Holly Jolly Cardmas

After his grandson fails to convince the residents of a small, Christmas-obsessed BC town that they need a factory, Poe Carder decides to step in and get the job done right himself. Unfortunately, he didn't count on an old college acquaintance making things difficult for him, and now he has one week to learn how to play a card game called Inscryption (or open his heart to the magic of the holidays) - or be banished from town forever.

It's been one year since I wrote Have a Holly Jolly Cardmas, which is not only the longest fic I've ever completed but the as of yet longest fully completed Inscryption fanfiction on AO3. To think, all of this was the result of one silly comment I made on OLD_FOLKS HOME about a joke Hallmark AU that spiralled completely out of control. This post can be considered both a redraw of the original cover art I made for the fic as well as an updated link now that the story is finished. Shoutout to all the wonderful commenters whose words kept me motivated, and of course huge shoutout to determunition whose fantastic fanfiction inspired me to write this story.
