The Marx Understander: We should be voting blue harder
correct. sitting in your room jerking it to fantasies of a revolution that has no leaders, no organizational infrastructure, and no strategy is not more historically progressive than participating in electoral politics. revolutions don't spontaneously self-organize. the revolutionary left in the United States is fragmentary and riven with internecine feuds, and uses abstentionism as an excuse for its irrelevance. anytime somebody suggests that milieu might not be a tenable vehicle for large-scale political change, somebody leans back in their chair, sneers, and offers some cutting remark with zero substance that functions solely to indicate that cool kids don't vote, cool kids don't team up with liberals, cool kids don't care about large-scale effectiveness, they only care about the incestuous world of far-left politics.
they have no substantive defense of their behavior, of course. if they did, they would be able to offer a defense besides repeating Democratic campaign slogans in increasingly mocking tones to indicate their disapproval. the "far left" in american politics these days really is just an unpleasant, cliquish social club on the internet. and once you notice how their model for politics is Mean Girls, how they have no style of communication that isn't dripping with irony so they don't actually have to make a positive claim that they might have to defend, how they have zero ambitions beyond their extremely insular world, it becomes impossible to ignore.
"Punishment works!!!" We're drowning in three to four generations of people so pants-shittingly terrified of ever being wrong that half of everyone has constructed a worldview wherein they never even consider the possibility that they could be wrong and the other half behaves like one wrong move will make anything or anyone explode violently into a million irreperable pieces. I don't think it works guys
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT!
‘Misses home and can’t return.’
…
“How? By what?”
“…by a monster.”
…
The self-hatred, the self-fulfilling prophecy, the embracing of Freaks and ‘Monsters’. Ford’s Paranormal Investigator instincts kicking in, Ford wanting to play the hero FOR Bill. Bill’s humourless laugh and ‘distant expression’, his uncharacteristic seriousness, the angsty, self-deprecating words and tone which Bill uses to describe himself. Ford being blissfully unaware of any of it Bill sardonically, mockingly, bitterly protecting Ford from himself….
This is too much.
…
It also casts this moment in an entirely new light:
Fallen Angel Angle. Beyond salvation. Don’t even try.
…
‘Too annoying for Hell’.
…All right, that last part isn’t really relevant. I just thought it was funny.
gravity falls is so funny through robbie's pov
>be me, 15 year old emo in a bumfucknowhere town
>lives in a funeral home. my parents embalm bodies twenty feet and an entire wall away from where we cook dinner
>have a friend i want to be my girlfriend
>she starts hanging out with her boss' (???) twin niece and nephew outside of work hours even though they're like in elementary school
>friend becomes your girlfriend
>weird shit happens around these twins. conscience store ghosts, a weirdly pixelated adult man beating you up, your dirt bike gets stolen, your girlfriend's boss and his nephew make your gf break up with you???
>gets memories erased at some point
>suddenly in love with only other female friend, like instantly in love and it's like this came out of nowhere but she's so perfect and you loooooove her it's so great don't question why there's a part of you that doesn't remember ever actually falling in love with her. also those fucking twins had something to do with this again.
>apocalypse happens
>mfw im apparently part of a secret key of people that can save the world by holding hands but it gets fucked up last minute by your ex's boss fighting with his twin over grammar (did he always have a twin?? why are there so many twins??)
>the ritual you were a part of failed. you were supposed to be a special person and part of saving the world but nope. that failed.
>get turned into a statue
>apocalypse ends and you have no clue how or why
>things like immediately go back to normal
>still with girl you don't remember falling in love with
>the twins just fucking. leave the town. and now there's two of your ex girlfriend's bosses around. no one ever explains how or why any of this has happened. you still live in a funeral home.
messy megop yuri sketches bc this song for some reason keeps reminding me of them (and also bc i've been thinking on revisiting my humanformer designs lmao)
potentially? suggestive stuff below?? (idk if it counts, maybe? doing this just in case lol)
accidentally got so carried away last night that I ended up in Narnia whoops
“as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.”

I don't even understand where this argument came from, because what did people watch the series with? Blitzø is the best of the three, he's obviously an amazing father, I wish everyone had such caring fathers. Stolas is also a good father, although with all his life problems and everything that happened in the series, I can 100% understand why Octavia thinks that Stolas might leave her, it's a difficult situation. Lucifer is the last one, but I would never call him a "bad father", yes, he is not the best, yes, he is too withdrawn and thought that Charlie doesn't need him that much and only called sometimes so as not to "bother", thereby spoiling their relationship and causing many years of distance (although this is also related to his mental health, because apparently Lilith had to take Charlie away from him for some reason), although we know that Charlie also didn't really call because of her doubts caused by many years of distance. But with all that, it's still very clear that he dotes on Charlie, she's his whole world and Charlie also craves her father's love and approval. Lucifer isn't a perfect father, but he tries, especially since he's now much more supportive of Charlie's stance on sinners, I think their relationship will start to heal in Season 2.
I never had a father, so I think it's understandable how I feel about it. I love seeing caring fathers 🥺
I know that probably not many people will share this opinion but i am kind of afraid that Lucifer will live in the hotel and become part of the main cast
It is not because i dislike him or anything but i fear that him staying in hotel will only cause that he overshadows other characters especially female characters like Charlie
Like he only was in two episodes but the fandoms already acts sometimes like he is the main character. I like Charlie, she is one of my favorite characters but I feel like she get both in the show and fandom shoved in the background for often male characters like Alastor and i don't want her to become a secondary character in her own show
I want Charlie to be the one who takes the lead and fights for her hotel without complety depending on her father, i already wasn't the biggest fan of Lucifer appearing out of nowhere in the final to save Charlie from Adam despite it making I guess technically sense.
Charlie is already unterrated in her own show more than enough and I fear Lucifer living in the hotel will make it even worse. I just hope he will stay more on the side lines and support Charlie without it becoming his hotel
I made this comic for the literature festival ‘Québec en toutes lettres'. If you are in la ville de Québec, I believe you can find this comic displayed on a large panel or as a free postcard in these cute vending machines they’ve set up around the downtown. I don’t actually have proof of either, so if you are in Québec and you see my comic in the wild, please send me a photo!
The theme of this year’s festival is ‘climbing the light’ based on a line of poetry from Jean-Paul Daoust. My comic is a pretty abstract take on that. I was thinking about how great art can inspire people all over the world to create art, and how that art can then inspire future artists and so on, making this unending giving-and-receiving of light through our history. I was also thinking about birds (as I do sometimes), and how they do a similar thing with their songs.
The bird I’ve painted here is an Eastern Whip-poor-will, a night singer.
