notes: no powers/curses, college roommates, fluff, blah blah blah... (and they're NOT doomed in my mind. they're happy and life is fun and no one dies ever at all.)

ੈ♡˳ they were randomly assigned a student apartment together. yuji is a general studies major (he didn't really want to go to college but his grandpa forced him to) and megumi is a zoology and animal behaviors double major (ooh la la)

ੈ♡˳ they did NOT get along at first. megumi always seemed like he was in a mood and that creeped yuji out. also yuji plays video games (really loudly) in his room super late at night and it drives megumi insane.

ੈ♡˳ they slowly, unconsciously developed a morning routine. yuji will put on some tea for the both of them and megumi will cut up some fruit for the both of them (he serves himself mixed berries and serves yuji apple slices) and they silently eat breakfast together in the living room. and by silently, i mean, yuji watches TV and megumi scrolls thru twitter.

ੈ♡˳ YUJI IS THE CLEAN ONE! may be surprising, but megumi spends so much time at school or studying, he's never home to pick up after himself or clean the apt in general. yuji doesn't mind at all- it gives him something to do with all his downtime and he enjoys doing things for his... friends...?

ੈ♡˳ when megumi comes home late one night, (exhausted and stressed out of his mind) he finds yuji asleep at the dinner table with two plates of food (one in front of yuji and one in front of megumi's spot). he softly shoves him awake and yuji explains that he stayed up making them dinner but he came home a lot later than he anticipated. they ate the cold food together anyway

ੈ♡˳ after that, megumi started doing his schoolwork in the living room instead of in his bedroom. he enjoys yuji's company, even if it is just listening to him babble about how hot megan thee stallion is or how excited he is for this one new video game to come out.

ੈ♡˳ they never have guests over, except (very occasionally, thanks to megumi) megumi's adoptive uncle/older older brother, satarou. him and yuji clicked instantly and they usually hang out together when he's visiting. megumi doesn't mind. satarou is annoying, but he makes yuji laugh a lot. he likes to hear him laugh.

ੈ♡˳ yuji started doing sports a couple months into university. he didn't particularly want to but he started getting depressed at home all day. megumi suggested he give volleyball a try because (he likes the uniform) it's a team sport and (he really likes the uniform) he heard the manager was cute (seriously, he wanted to see yuji in that uniform so... bad.)

ੈ♡˳ megumi goes to his games! (seeing yuji in that uniform makes it all worth it). then they come home together and, while yuji showers, megumi makes them some tea and sandwiches.

ੈ♡˳ on those nights, they usually end up watching a movie on the couch together. megumi gets cold easy, so him and yuji share a blanket. yuji is usually exhausted so he always falls asleep during the movie. megumi does not like being touched, but yuji sleeps so soundly on his shoulder so he tries not to move.

ੈ♡˳ "itadori." he says quietly, once it gets a little too late (he waited until 1am even though he has an 8am) "i gotta go to bed." yuji grunts, still asleep but responding somehow. "then go to sleep here, fushiguro..." he sighed, falling back asleep on megumi's chest.

ੈ♡˳ megumi's face heats up and he scoffs. "whatever, man." he huffed and leaned back, getting comfortable. had it been anyone else, he would've pushed them off and gone to his room. but not yuji.

ੈ♡˳ yuji wakes up first the next morning, on top of megumi. their legs were tangled together and his pale face was flushed. yuji stared down at him, feeling his on cheeks warm up. "pretty..." he mumbled, almost a whisper. megumi's eyes screwed shut and then he opened them. yuji scrambled off of him. they both stared at each, blushing furiously. megumi cleared his throat after a moment and said, "do you want some tea, yuji?"

ੈ♡˳ "yea..." he gulped, "thanks, megumi."

ITAFUSHI - bumps and bruises ੈ♡˳

'i'm so... bored....' yuji thought to himself, clicking through different tv channels. he was sprawled out on the couch in some flannel pajama pants and a tee shirt. he had been home alone for about six hours straight. megumi had been on campus all day. yuji had no idea what he could possibly be doing. no amount of studying or school work should take six hours. he started to pity the guy. megumi loved going to school but this workload had to be exhausting. yuji started to get gloomy thinking about how many things megumi had to do everyday.

the front door opened, causing yuji to sit up, excited to finally have some company. "megumi!" he called out, dragging out the last vowel sound.

megumi rounded the corner, revealing his dishevelled figure to yuji. he looked like he had gotten beat up. his lip was busted and his legs were scraped up, and dripping blood. on top of that, he was dizzy. the poor guy was so busy, he forgot to eat before he went on his daily run.

"megumi..." yuji gasped, staring at him with wide, confused eyes.

"yu..." megumi mumbled, before collapsing onto their living room floor.

yuji yelped, scrambling up from the couch. kuro and shiro started whimpering from inside their crates, nervous about what's happened to their best friend. this only stressed yuji out more. he fumbled onto the ground, rolling megumi onto his back and propping him up against the couch at the same time. his pretty face was all scraped up and a small bruise was forming on his cheek.

"what the fuck happened to you?" yuji said outloud, mostly to himself. he ran his thumb over megumi's bleeding lip.

"i fell..." megumi grunted, coming back to consciousness. he shifted, putting himself in a more comfortable position. yuji furrowed his brows.

"no shit, dude. i just watched that happen. why are you all... fucked up?" he grumbled, his stress growing. he cupped megumi's face in his palm, turning his head to the side to get a better view of his scrapes.

megumi pouted. "on my run..." he started to get embarrassed. "it was dark outside and i was running on an unlit street because it was a shorter route home. but i couldn't see and i ended up tripping over things like four times. i already felt like shit because i haven't eaten all day..."

yuji was about lose his mind. "you haven't eaten all day?! and then you went for a run? what the hell were you thinking?"

megumi chuckled softly, and then winced. "since when do you swear so much?"

"since you decided to starve yourself and then almost break your nose!" yuji grumbled, trudging into their supply closet for a first aid kit. megumi smiled softly to himself, admiring how much yuji was fussing over him. he stomped back over to megumi, crouching down next to him with a cotton ball in hand. he soaked it in an antibacterial spray and held it up to megumi's face.

it was quiet. yuji scrunched his nose, focusing hard on what he was doing. he started dabbing the scrape on megumi's cheekbone, wiping it clean. megumi winced, the medicine burning a tiny bit. then yuji took a warm, damp rag and carefully wiped it across megumi's bottom lip. his lip was tender and the motion caused a dull pain. he took a moment to glance at yuji. his face was still scrunched up, concentrated. megumi thought it was cute. yuji was too focused on cleaning his face to notice the eyes on him. after a moment, he took megumi's hand in his.

"here," he said softly, pressing the rag into his hand. "keep this pressed against your lip while i take care of you legs."

megumi hummed, doing as told. he watched yuji carefully examine his shins. there were several cuts here and there, a few deeper than others. yuji clicked his tongue, wetting another cotton ball with antibacterial spray. he cleaned up the cuts on megumi’s leg and then softly blew on them, his lips forming a tiny ‘o’. megumi knew that that was pretty unsanitary, but he didn’t care. he was just happy he was getting taken care of (and by yuji, no less). then, he began unwrapping bandages and placing them across his cuts. once he was finished, he slumped back next to megumi against the couch. he sighed.

megumi glanced over at him, then stared into his scraped up hands. “sorry i didn’t come home sooner.”

yuji leaned to this side, almost leaning on megumi’s shoulder. he took his hands in his.

“hey, why didn’t you let me clean these up?” yuji asked, grabbing some spray. megumi pulled his hands from him, a blush spreading across his cheeks.

“it’s not as big of a deal.” he mumbled, folding his arms across his chest.

yuji furrowed his brows. "it's the biggest deal." he grabbed the boys hands, examining them in his own. megumi looked away, grumbling to himself. "you use your hands everyday. it's important that they're taken care of." he carefully sprayed a medicated spay across megumi's pale palms. he watched them dry, then wrapped a thin bandage around both of them. megumi looked at his hands when yuji was done.

he felt so much better. the ache that was running through his body before had subsided and the only pain he felt was in his chest. a tightening that he couldn't explain. he felt it most when yuji looked at him, brows knitted and eyes full of worry.

"next time you're having a rough day, please call me. chances are, i'm free." he paused, moving his mouth around, as if he were searching for the right words. "i… care about you a lot."

megumi stared at him, wide eyed and at a loss for words. "okay... thank you. and i'm sorry."

yuji chuckled, standing up and stretching. then he turned around and held out a hand for megumi. "don't apologize. now, sit down. i wanna watch tv with you."

the boys spent the rest of the night on the couch. they sat close, absorbing the heat of the other. there was something sweet and comfortable in the silence in the room. as if all they needed was to be right next to each other, warm and taken care of.
