...what is the "sex is just rock climbing" category
It was kind of a joke between me and a friend ("you wouldn't judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people") but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:
It is a physical activity done with one or more partners
You should only go rock climbing with people you trust to not let you fall
You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making
Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it's fine dude I'm glad you're happy but I don't know what most of those mountains even are
While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don't want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma
There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone "it's not that heights make you nauseous, it's just that you haven't found the right person to belay you!" or "you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special." That would be absurd.
For some people it is a deep and moving personal experience.
historically I have not asked myself "will this aggravate my hip flexor injury" before participating when perhaps I should have 😔
So, egged on by distant friends, I have picked up Dwarf Fortress again. I'd not played in a few months, EVE Online scratching the 'learn through disaster' and ' horribly documented' itches.
Right now, it looks like the save I loaded is doomed. I hadn't arranged for any food supplies first time out, so while I've managed to make a farm (irrigated entirely by dwarves carrying buckets of water from a well: my only water sources being 20 levels below ground). Obviously, that means no food until the end of the season, and already I have numerous dwarves hunting vermin for food, which is very bad.
I can't just quit, though, you never know what can be saved.
hey ao3 can you like give the extra $38k you made from this month’s funds drive to charity
not to oversimplify an extremely complex discipline but if i had to pick one tip to give people on how to have more productive interactions with children, especially in an instructive sense, its that teaching a kid well is a lot more like improv than it is like error correction and you should always work on minimizing the amount of ‘no, wrong’ and maximizing the amount of ‘yes, and?’ for example: we have a species of fish at the aquarium that looks a lot like a tiny pufferfish. children are constantly either asking us if that’s what they are, or confidently telling us that’s what they are. if you rush to correct them, you risk completely severing their interest in the situation, because 1. kids don’t like to engage with adults who make them feel bad and 2. they were excited because pufferfish are interesting, and you have not given them any reason to be invested in non-pufferfish. Instead, if you say something like “It looks a LOT like a tiny pufferfish, you’re right. But these guys are even funnier. Wanna know what they’re called?” you have primed them perfectly for the delightful truth of the Pacific Spiny Lumpsucker
This is a slow fandom zone
None of that "Oh no they bomb-dropped all the episodes in a week 1 month ago, I'm late!" "The tag hasn't been active all week is the fandom dead?" "I only got a hundred shares the first hour no one cares about my art"
Slow down
Take a deep breath and slow down
Fandom is YOU. And me and everyone. If we doodle stick figures for a show that ended 30 years ago we aren't "late" or "doing too little", we're playing dolls in our own time and having fun with works of art that mean a lot to us
You can literally watch and engage with something that aired in 2004 as if it aired yesterday
If the tag hasn't been active for 14 months guess what? If YOU post there, it isn't dead. Literally you can talk about anything you want whenever you want there is no weird law against watching things that people aren't actively talk about
Let's be deranged about stories together
Rean is both the most realistic and most absurd of the Trails protags.
He's got two different, unrelated, protagonist secret powers. He's got unexpected ancestry! He's one of less than a dozen people who know Eight Leaves sword tech! He's a champion snowboarder, excellent fisherman, and unbeatable at Magic:the Gathering! He is the Maryest Sue at the ball.
...and he is deeply, realistically, clinically, depressed. His primary drive to help people comes from not being he can, or even should, help himself. He has a breakdown any time he spends more than a day by himself, constantly needing to be thinking about other people - as the alternative, thinking about himself, is too. damn. much.
I like Rean. I really hope he learns to like himself better.
sidequests in most trails game: you are basically a do-gooder for hire. doing these requests is how you put bread on your table and how you move up in the world
sidequests in cold steel: the cute student council president asked you very nicely if you could help her with some stuff and you are incapable of saying no to anyone
something mysterious has appeared
One of the players in the Break!! game is playing a living, person-sized, porcelain doll - think the form of the third image and the patterning of the first.
I’ve posted two of these before, but here are all 3 warforged commissions for @hinkledinkle together in one post! <3
The top two are heavily inspired and referenced from designs by Alan Blackwell by request.

Been working on my Necrorando collection, making fun little folk to hang out in the underhive. Most recently I have painted an auto-scrivener (unnamed) and a mutant Bounty Hunter ('the Rat-Catcher'), and built an ex-Escher Rogue Doc mixing AoS and Necromunda bits. Particularly happy with the Auto-scribe's scroll-work. Nothing fancy since the writing is all sculpted detail on the original model, but a few drops of red ink have done a lot of work!
Not exactly the same thing, but in Warframe if you play too much multiplayer your Warframe will catch a parasite from other infected Warframes. You need to harvest this parasite to make a monster dog.
i fell asleep for 2 seconds and woke up with the thought still in my mind that they should let you have visible parasites in MMOs. a braincrab, for example. you have a crab on your head slowly causing more and more damage to your Focus stat or whatever but you wear it as a fashion accessory like a hat and it's sort of like a cosmetic pet if you think about it though yes you do get a debuff correponsdent with it eating your brain,.
+1 for Heroforge. It's got a surprisingly broad range - I've used it for everything from Halfing Rogues to cold-war Magical Girls.
“but AI art lets me create my OCs!” YOU WILL USE PICREW AS GOD INTENDED
