(There was a blackout all day on my neighborhood and I wrote this while at work to stay sane, so get ready for a long rambling)
Okay hear me out, The Owl House... but Camila is a basilisk who managed to escape decades ago, as one of Belos first experiments with the species.
Story points:
She got to the human real through one of Eda's escapades and disguised herself as a teen who was moving out of town. For the first years, she lived on a shelter (and luckly didn't stood out due to there being a couple of nutjobs), made some friends there and occasionaly went out looking for magical objects to keep her disguise.
One of said friends got her into night school with the promise of a better life, and that's where she met Manny, who was there teaching spanish. They started dating weeks after, bonding over their shared love for the language and Manny's passion for Cosmic Frontier (needless to say that she enjoyed the concept of "cosplaying").
At some point, Manny managed to get her some documents thanks to a cousin that worked at the customs office, allowing her to enter high school and later get into university. They invented a backstory where Camila was the last survivor of a family dispute on the Dominican Republic, only to move to the US with the last money she had from her parents.
After Camila's high school graduation, she accidentaly got drunk during a party, and revealed her true identity to him on a walk through the forest, where Manny ran off and she blacked out near some bushes. She went to look for him the next day, and after a heartfelt discussion, they broke up. He would later move to Pennsylvania, where he would study ---
Camila's years through university went calmly, getting a couple of part time jobs, a shared bedroom alongside a weird man obsesed with witches, and later recieved her diploma.
At some point, Manny moved back in town after a failed marriage and both of them reconected quickly, going back to practise cosplay and even visiting Puerto Rico to meet his parents. They got married and bought a home (not in Gravesfield).
A couple of years later, Luz would come into their lives from Manny's last marriage, who didn't wanted to have a child. From there on there's no change in the canon, they lived as a family, moved to Gravesfield, Manny passed away and Luz went to the Boiling Isles.
When Vee came through the portal and morphed into Luz, Camila felt something odd, but after being away from the BI for decades, she just brushed it off. It wouldn't be until a week or so after she came back from camp where the oddities piled up and she discovered Vee's true identity. After confronting the fellow basilisk and learning her story, she offered her a home and allowed her to replace Luz until they discovered what happened.
Yesterday's Lie would go different, with Luz learning about both Vee and Camila's secret, who would still end up slapping Jacob in the face with her Chancla btw.
Notes:
Camila would be the same subspecies as Vee, a Knee Dweling basilisk. Their main characteristics would be their rounder heads, furred ears, puffier manes, eyes, ticker tails to store extra fat and being overall the smallest of the entire species.
She would've most likely known the basilisk who attacked Hexside during The First Day.
I'm deciding on whether or not Camila befriended teenage Eda and the last one offered her a ticket to the human realm. She could've also met a previous Golden Guard who would've helped her scape in the first place, and thus would recognise Hunter very quickly.
Most of the cosplay stuff is from Manny, since she just shapeshifted into whichever character she wanted. Needless to say, she won a lot of competitions.
She became a veterinarian to help out other creatures and to learn self care, as basiliks share a ton with Earth reptiles.
She most likely influenced Luz's love for snakes.
I like to think that after meeting Vee for who she really is, Camila started to walk around the house in her natural form, contempt with not needing to hide her true nature. The only one who she did that with would've been Manny, during the period after their reconnection and before Luz.
Even though the camp helped Vee a lot to blend in, it would be Camila the one who truly get her to do so. Maybe even contact Manny's cousin to get her some papers too.
The angst would double for Luz after either Yesterday's Lie or King's Tide, seeing her mother getting along with Vee very easily and feeling even more like an outcast.
So, what do y'all think? Should I try to make something out of this or should I seek profesional help? Either way, I'm not sharing the good stuff.

Warden Wrath and the Conformatorium guards move the basilisks to a new location in the middle of the night for further experimentation. Vee manages to steal the key to her cage from one of the guards, freeing herself and others.
The basilisks separate to make it harder for the Emperor's Coven to find them and have been on the run ever since. Hiding with a cloak, Vee slithers through Bonesborough until she comes across Eda's stand, where Owlbert has just returned from the Human Realm.
The Point of Divergence: After throwing her book away, Luz did not go looking for it and did not chase after Owlbert to the Boiling Isles.
Eda goes through the belongings to see which human "goods" are worth selling and is about to burn the Good Witch Azura book when Vee sneaks into the tent. However, Owlbert catches her and informs Eda.
Eda closes the portal and confronts Vee, tearing off her cloak and seeing what she is. Vee hides among the collected junk and begs Eda not to hurt her. But Eda is more fascinated that a member of a long-dead species is still alive.
Eda recognizes Vee is a scared child and sympathizes with her. Vee does not tell Eda everything when she asks for her name and where she came from, but just enough to make a convincing alibi.
Eda tries to sell some magical items to Vee (because she would), remembering that basilisks consume magic. Then, she and Vee hear a commotion outside the tent and peek out to see what is happening.
Vee's "scent" has been picked up by the Emperor's Coven, led by Eberwolf. Realizing Vee is in danger, Eda uses herself as a distraction and gives the young basilisk the time she needs to flee.
The Emperor's Coven soldiers fall for it, and Eda quickly deals with them. But she realizes Eberwolf did not fall for it and is still hunting for Vee, who is revealed to the public as a basilisk. This causes everyone to panic and aids Eberwolf in capturing her, the "monster."
Eda flies-in to save Vee and fights Eberwolf, but the Head of the Beast Keeping Coven proves to be a challenge. Afraid of overusing her magic, Eda decides to use her "Distraction Spell" on them, confusing them long enough for her to grab Vee and gun it.
While soaring through the air, Eda consoles Vee, and she begins to cry, saying that no one has ever been so kind to her. Before landing at the Owl House, Eda uses a quick spell to mask her scent from Eberwolf.
King meets Vee and assumes Eda has brought him a new "minion" for his "Army of Darkness" Eda explains to King and Vee that she is welcome to stay in their home for as long as she needs. Though Vee must, of course, "pull her weight."
Vee expresses her gratitude to Eda. The Owl Lady informs the basilisk that she will need to disguise herself when she travels outside the Owl House. Vee notices Eda still has the Good Witch Azura book and focuses on the cover's central character. She shapeshifts into a semi-identical version of Azura, beginning her future adventures with Eda and King.

propaganda below the cut
Nimüe: it/they. warmind not built by braytech, but was eventually acquired by them when bt bought out its company. was forcibly shut down after going on a rampage when it learned all its scientists had been relocated to other projects. recently found again by a pair of guardians and their ghosts. very murderbot like
Auxâ: she/her. solar variant lucent wizard, former deathsinger and doesn't speak because of that (playing fast and loose with deathsong lore because i can). her ghost Tacet (they/them) speaks for her. doesn't particularly agree with Savathûn or the majority of the brood, a lot like Luzaku
Kythra: they/them. last member of a semi-incorporeal species destroyed by the witness. mad scientist. doesn't actually like the witness (definitely helped to destroy it when the time came) but the power was necessary for what they wanted to accomplish. beefs with Rhulk, helped create Nezarec, thinks Savathûn is fascinating. i have an entire idea for a raid with them as the final boss that plays with the manipulation of light and dark, and has lore reasoning for why it would be replayable
Bones: they/them. wish dragon raised by the ghost Skein (it/its) that now helps it get revenge on the people who wronged their ghost. just general chaos. works as a sorta back market dealer in wishes things that guardians want/need but can't get easily or at all (like the end to a losing streak in the crucible). a hunter
Sigurd: he/they. ahamkara pretending to be a recently lightless warlock to escape the great hunt. stole the face of the warlock that took their right arm. basically just a dragon learning to be human and appreciate humanity for what it is.
I'm so glad to see that there are other people out there creating their own headcannon worldbuilding of Bakugan! I myself have my own entire re-make of the first three seasons called Bakugan: Equilibrium I really love your take on the Neathians and I can't wait to see what else you have in store. You have won another follower!
Summary: The Neathian culture is built on the core values of communities and collective thinking. While conformity within the society is of a high level, they pursue a ‘closed gate’ diplomacy towards other races - resulting in a 'bubble’ phenomenon and becoming vulnerable to losing their sense of belonging. Centralised urban system, with regional reciprocity and redistribution, whereby the Queen plays a coordinator role, and exists as a unifying symbol along with the military.

This was written for a gift fic exchange for @wonderwafles. I was very surprised to be, apparently, the first person to use Luzaku as a character tag on Ao3? With the amount people have been swooning over her online I am so confused. Perhaps she's just not being tagged? I don't know. All I do know is that this makes me want to include her in more things because she's amazing.

Summary: Eris visits Luzaku in the Blooming Deep.
"The Sky greets you."
"Hmmm...."
Light poured in from the roof of the grotto as Luzaku bowed reverently to the god of Vengeance.
Eris Morn approached the thin silver sapling limbs sprouting from the rocks in the centre of the Blooming Deep. Her steps were sure and measured. Luzaku looked upon her with awe.
Behind her, Eris Morn's companion peered out from a large rock. It kept its gun muzzle pointed directly between Luzaku's three eyes.
Luzaku nodded toward the companion in acknowledgement as one would an Acolyte for a revered Hive Wizard. It smiled. The smile was unkind and threatening. Filled with teeth. Luzaku wondered if this was an attempt at expressing friendliness in a cross-cultural way. She suspected otherwise. The gun muzzle did not waver.
Luzaku turned back to the Sky Mother's newest sister as the three-eyed human examined glowing buds on pale spindly branches. She seemed to ignore Luzaku although the Wizard could not help but notice that the strange soulfire enshrouded orb in Eris' hand pulsated with every approaching step she took.
Luzaku slowed her movements and kept her distance so as not to startle the watchful one. Unlike the Bane of the Swarm, it was nervous, its focus coiled tight.
The god of Vengeance, in contrast, seemed unconcerned, as though Luzaku was not even a threat compared to the hordes she had vanquished. This was something Luzaku knew to be true. Should Crota's Bane desire Luzaku's death, that death would already have come.
"I am told you protect it." Eris spoke after many tense and silent moments.
She did not face or address Luzaku, looking instead to a space beyond the tree, but the intended recipient of her words was clear enough.
"This one's place is here," Luzaku explained. "This one will contemplate. Protect. Plan."
"Plan what?" Eris asked. Her voice demanded response. Luzaku was impressed by how compelling the small fleshy god's utterance was. The latent power beneath the deity's tone was palpable and far larger in stature than her physical form. Despite their size difference, it made Luzaku feel... small.
"This one does not know." She answered truthfully. "Only that this one's plans remain defiant to the all-edged lie."
"Hmmm..." Eris turned. Her three glowing eyes, bound by cloth, looked at Luzaku as though only just noticing her now. Eye to eye to eye. An Acolyte's eyes. Just as Luzaku's had once been.
The god of Vengeance uttered one word, again compelling an answer: "Why?"
This was judgment, then. Luzaku felt herself swell with strength as she replied from her innermost being. She spoke her truth to the Sky Mother's sister plainly and without artifice. Unafraid. Let her be judged. Aiat.
"The Sky... the Light... calls to this one."
The small fleshy god's head tilted to the side, listening.
"We all have our purposes," Luzaku continued. "We are all our own individuals. This one's purpose is here."
The watchful one behind the rock twitched as Luzaku floated near to the tree and splayed her three-fingered hands near the branches, caressing them without touching them.
Eris continued to look up at the Wizard, her expression unreadable.
Luzaku floated back slightly and bowed again to the Bane of the Swarm. Her chitin felt suddenly brittle.
The silence lay thick and heavy between them. Luzaku waited.
Eris Morn took a step forward, removed her glove, and placed her hand on one of the small roots of the young silver tree.
On instinct, Luzaku tentatively reached out her Hive-clawed hand and took hold of one of the silver sapling's upper branches.
Time seemed to slow.
Beneath the bark Luzaku felt a surge of energy welling up from below them both. Sadness. Hope. Relief. A feeling of almost... completion. A rightness. A sense of calm. Gratitude.
Movement on the edge of Luzaku's vision caught her eye and pulled her from this strange arboreal communion.
The Lucent Hive Wizard watched Eris Morn's Acolyte-like companion shift and raise its gun toward her.
Why would it attack now, when the small fleshy god seemed content? Did it perceive Luzaku as a threat? There was no time to react. The companion was so quick, its eyes cold, its expression vicious. The gun fired so fast.
Luzaku let the calm from the tree wash over her as she waited for her death to come, knowing as she did so that any companion of the Sky-Mother's sister would know how to crush her ghost. This was the end, then. She felt only confusion and a small sadness.
The gun barked four times, five, six.
Both Luzaku and Eris let go of the tree.
Luzaku looked down upon her chitinous body. She was uninjured. The bullets were not meant for her.
She spun in the air. On a moss-covered ledge behind her were the dissipating forms of four Taken Psions and a Phalanx.
"Sorry for ruinin' the moment," the companion said with a gravelly voice while spinning its pistol on its finger.
"Hmmm... thank you," the tiny god's voice was warm, almost gentle. "We were both... preoccupied."
Luzaku, too, bowed in thanks.
"I could see that," the companion said. It holstered its weapon. "Look, if you two are gonna keep fondlin' that tree we should set up a perimeter. This place is crawling with Taken."
"That will not be necessary," Eris replied, staring at a point on the rock wall away from both of them. Then she added "...this time."
Luzaku cocked her head.
"I would, however, appreciate your assistance with a perimeter when I return," Eris continued.
She looked back to the Lucent Hive. "Do you know what tea is, Luzaku?"
The way Eris Morn said her name was different from all other humans Luzaku had encountered. Eris Morn used the inflections and pronunciation of the Hive. Luzaku felt a shudder run through her at the sound of an alien human tongue speaking in a way that was so intimate and familiar.
"This one does not."
"It is a drink," Eris explained. "I will bring some and we will share it when I visit you next..." She paused and the corner of her lip quirked up in a small smile before she continued, "...Guardian."
Luzaku hissed in surprise, twisting in the air a moment before composing herself and responding...
"Aiat."
The companion raised both of its eyebrows at this exchange, looking back and forth between Eris and the Lucent Wizard. Then it shrugged and fell in step behind Eris as she walked toward the exit.
Just before they left the watchful one did something odd. It paused in the doorway, put two of its fingers near its temple and then quickly moved them away while looking at Luzaku.
Then it turned to Eris and said "Ya know, I always wanted a pet Hive."
Luzaku heard Eris sigh deeply as they both disappeared from her sight.
