luke tells percy that they burn what they’ll miss most so that gods will know that what they’re saying is important so they’re really listen.

but sally burns ice cream. ice cream that she has no attachment to. it’s not even baby percy’s ice cream. it’s just random leftover ice cream that she grabbed from a pile of dirty dishes.

the ice cream could not be more unimportant to sally. in the grand scheme of things, the ice cream is nothing.

but poseidon comes to her anyway. he shows up immediately after probably the most lackluster offering sally could give. he shows up anyway.

just…there’s something about poseidon showing up for sally.

Canonically, if one of them dies, they both die. They literally share a telepathic link that they can use to communicate from literally anywhere and they can feel each other's feelings. Okay, here goes. You know how Annabeth is the one who gets through to Luke in the end? And I legit love that scene, it makes me cry every time and I both want and don’t want to see it play out on screen.

But hear me out. Grover is playing his reeds, right? What if… what if he plays the Consensus Song. He doesn't mean to, he's just freaking out because by the gods that's one of his old friends standing there about to end everything. That's one of his old friends trying to kill his two best friends. And the song just… happens.

And THAT is what breaks Kronos's hold enough for Annabeth to reason with Luke. Hearing that old melody, something he probably hasn't heard since he was on the run with baby Annabeth and Thalia, is what reminds him of his promise. Family.

Holy shit, i was not expecting Percy pulling out all the family stuff in Zeus's face but I'm enjoying it like you have no idea.
