just for the sake of clarity, luigi mangione HASN'T BEEN CONVICTED OF ANYTHING. He has only been arraigned. News stories saying that the jury gave him the death penalty are misleading-- all those headlines mean is that he COULD be tried by a federal court instead of state, and if he's tried in federal court then the death penalty COULD be an option, since the death penalty is not legal in NY.

Luigi pled not guilty to STATE COURT charges, which is where the arraignment happened, which means he cannot get the death penalty for THOSE charges, IF he is found guilty. In reality, nothing has happened yet, he has not been proven guilty on any of the bs charges. It's extremely not over, in fact it hasn't even STARTED yet.

But gee I wonder why so many news organizations worded their headlines to make it seem like he had already been charged and it was over. Weird, how a news agency would release misleading information, considering how someone might see those headlines and stop paying attention. Sure hope nobody is defeated from taking further action because they think Luigi Mangione was put to death.
