I was raised by parents who, as far as I can tell, were not actually wild about having kids. They had us because they felt like they should. That was the normal thing to do. Big mistake, etc., neither of us really talk to them, but anyway.

The point is, my parents did not teach me life skills. I did not know how to change a tire or fix plumbing or even much simpler things. Learning to pump gas gave me MULTIPLE high grade public panic attacks.

But you know what? YouTube and the modern Internet are making life so much better these days. Get yourself a decent screwdriver (two—a Phillips and a flat head) and a hammer and a level, and you’re halfway to being functional and independent.

Over Thanksgiving our sink broke and YouTube taught me how to fix it. I am so grateful for this era.

As you can imagine, there's like 7k notes on this of "ohhh op I had no idea my bad!! Signal boost!" Because apparently we need to make sure we're not giving anything to those privileged TMEs (read: anyone that isn't a trans woman because the laws and judgement in the UK now also abides by the TME/TMA framework and doesn't harm other kinds of trans people. Magically. I'm being sarcastic this person is a fucking moron.)

If you're a trans ally and you blindly reblog this kind of thing please. Please for the love of God stop just blindly following what any trans person tells you. The idea that trans men don't need support or resources because societies everywhere just accepts us as is will literally kill us, and spreading that online is not the true supportive ally move you think it is.
