One Piece - Portgas D. Ace
hey gays how are we feeling knowing she leads her cabin to change the tide of the battle of manhattan after her patroclus dies in her armor? i feel really normal and ok about it lol.
it might seem
... crazy what i am
about to say
help i love this movie
this makes sense in my head
This episode confirmed something for me about Mr. Bonzo that I've theorized about since Nigel Dickerson said, "He doesn't like it when people stare," and that's that Bonzo hates what he is. He went from a silly TV character made to make people laugh to a horrific symbol of fear best known for a mass murder and he's pissed about it.
Luffy may have fought his way out of a horrible prison and through a deadly war just to have Ace die anyway, but god damn it, Luffy's effort to save his brother was not a waste. Ace was treated like a monster by society from the day he was born, to the point that he hated every part of himself too and didn't see a reason for living, but his last words to Luffy were "Thank you for loving me."
Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for loving me.
Luffy's love was never, ever in vain. Portgas D. Ace died knowing that he was loved, his body held securely in the arms of someone who'd spent ten years trying to convince Ace that he was worthy of it.
Love is never wasted.
i think about this scene so often. the fact that meeks can't hear the music at all because pitts has the headphones, the spin, whatever that little booty shake he does is? get it white boy!
Chewing and gnawing on the irony One Piece continually shows with the main characters where they're doing objectively kind and helpful things and that's what gets them in trouble with the law. It's the selective application of criminal justice. The bias and room for corruption built into the system itself. It's delicious. It's horribly relevant. I'm obsessed.
i had a thing while washing the dishes. i applied the line "i've always entertained the thought of a higher reality" to one of my characters, except they were telling it to me (which was unexpected of my brain, really).
and isn't that a terrifying thought.
because??? would this character, one of the first i created and loved, condemn me for literally causing her demise? which made me think of something else: i do not know.
i have a vague idea, yes but really, not accurately. i don't know how she'd react to this??? this character developed on their own and i have not an inkling of thought of the gears inside that mind of hers.
i think i understand my mother quite a bit now.
friendly reminder
When someone asks me if I'm okay, and then I remember Charlie's facial expression whilst everyone else was singing.
Neil's death hit Charlie the hardest, and I am willing to die on that hill
