It's so funny and so them that the first time Mumbo, Grian and Scar tried to do the cinematic scene Scar came super late, died, then in process of laughing about Scar Mumbo also died. They are so dumb (affectionate)
My favorite part of watching Doc's episode today is how clear it is that he finds the whole situation incredibly funny but is trying to hide it.
He went through the pile of gifts, ignoring the building blocks of course, and was amused by all the Scarland food and merch. He tried on the Jellie ears and showed them off in F5 mode, which was extremely cute, and then quickly took them off and reminded everyone that he was still Big Mad and Out For Revenge.
Then he gave a blow-by-blow account of how Scar and Grian destroyed the tunnel borer from their videos. He explained what they'd done and gave a detailed account of Grian's screaming and their horrified silence. He was practically laughing aloud at how the pair had been tripping over themselves to get away. Then he sort of cleared his throat and reminded us all that he was still Big Mad and Out For Revenge.
And then, after discussing his anvil cannon and the TNT-spewing mecha-goat all episode as potential tools of vengeance, in the end Doc decided to flex his baffling redstone skills to do something impossible to Grian's nether portal instead of blowing anything up. 100% True GOAT behavior right here.
Can we still be friends?
In-lore, how do you account for the creators' other series, such as Hermitcraft and 100 Hours? Do those happen in between death games, and at any point they could be ripped out of their normal lives and forced to murder their friends for eldritch beings' entertainment? Are they plain not canon to the eyesandears lore?
I saw a clip of Scar freaking out about a skulk sensor and reminding himself this is Hermitcraft, everyone here's nice, it's not gonna blow up and couldn't stop wondering.
If memory serves correctly, we decided on the Last Life post season stream that other SMPs are dreams the players are having between seasons of the death games
It's not a detail we've totally locked in yet, so it's still a bit loosey goosey until we decide some hard cannon
Currently I like to think of it as dream states between the games. Yes, some of the players share the same dream space like Empires / Hermitcraft but that's just an allowance made by the Watchers through their soul linking powers.
There's literal soul linking demonstrated in Double Life with the health system but their power is vast and comes with variations. I wouldn't say it's any kind of 'plane walking' ability (which I've seen a lot of people theorizing on based on Gem's lore and how she might've entered the Life series), currently I feel like it's more mental manipulation / alteration as opposed to travelling.
So for now it's a little vague until we decide something concrete or the narrative would benefit from a clearer definition being made. But I always like to be honest about these details so people know not everything is committed to ink just yet
I see the "only the winners remember the previous games" and I raise you my own personal theory
The longer the players are in the same, the more they remember.
So yes, the winners do remember the most, but others can remember.
Scar and Grian have the most vivid memory of third life, which later influences how they both act in double life.
Pearl and Scott both remember the most as they died at the same time.
Jimmy does not remember the games. Or not in any of his memories. Sure, he had a headache for a few days after (where he would have gotten shot), felt closer to Scott, and he grew fonder of poppies. He's heard about what happened from others. But he doesn't have any memories. Because he died first every. single. time.
Until secret life.
And finally.
He has some memories of it.
Again, they're not great. He died second. But he can remember something.
He's escatic. This is his chance not to feel like an outsider when they talk about the games.
(and if Lizzie was clumsy and allowed herself to fall because Jimmy had confided in her that he felt inferior because he couldn't remember? ...nobody needs to know.)
