Instead of what happened in the movie, Chuuya is a little meaner to get Dazai to leave (to save his life). So he purposefully tries to make Dazai hate him and since Dazai isn’t good with feelings he doesn’t realize he’s being tricked until hes captured by pirates and Rampo talks some sense into him

the realization that going back in time and getting the ending you want is going to be much harder than you initially thought…
