I fucking hate that the general response to RFK Jr's eugenist take on autistic people is "autistic people do pay taxes, autistic people do work, autistic people do date!"

Some autistic people don't and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life. Some autistic people do need constant help and support and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life.

Once again we're falling in the right wing trap of :

They make a hateful, fascist statement

Instead of focusing on the fact that it is hateful and fascist we try to show them that they are factually wrong

We throw our own allies and the most vulnerable of us under the bus in the process

We legitimise an only slightly less hateful, fascist view as we go

They have completed their goal of making us accept the still hateful, fascist second version, hurrah. What a victory.

Right now what we're getting to with that is that autistic people who can work and pay taxes are okay, and the others aren't. Fuck this shit.

Same thing happens with the people who are being deported ("they have a visa!", "they didn't even have a criminal record!" -> even if they didn't have a visa, even if they did have a criminal record, deporting them and detaining them in what's essentially a concentration camp wouldn't be okay, you absolute tools of fascism.)

They both want to make season 4 happen!

Oh.

We're at "traffic tickets are justification for disappearing people off the street and sending them to death camps with no due process" levels of fascism now.

Baba Yaga the Kind

Like I said in this post, in Russian fairy tales Baba Yaga can range from helpful to occasionally murderous to actual cannibal, but @the-importance-of-being-wilde wanted to know about stories where she is friendly. So here are the ones I know:

The Three Kingdoms

The hero Ivashko Lie-on-the-Stove is sent to Baba Yaga for help after a quest gets him stranded far away from home. He calls her “little grandmother” and she lends him her giant eagle to fly back to Russia. However, this is Baba Yaga’s eagle, so she instructs him to take enough meat with him to feed it every time it got hungry, or it might start snacking on Ivashko himself… (Don’t worry, he only loses a bit of his shoulder before he gets home and even that gets magically healed.)

The Maiden Tsar

I know this is about Baba Yaga, but the Maiden Tsar sails around with a fleet of ships accompanied by her thirty foster sisters just to court an extremely beautiful merchant’s son named Ivan. It’s awesome. Of course the lovers get divided and the Maiden Tsar lets Ivan know that he can find her in the thrice tenth kingdom. Ivan cannot find it, but he does find Baba Yaga’s hut and asks her for help. She says she does not know, but perhaps her younger sister does. Her sister is described as “another Baba Yaga”, but she does not know either. She tells him to go to their youngest sister and warns him that she might get angry and want to eat him, but that if he quickly begs her for three horns and asks her permission to blow upon them everything will be alright. Sure enough, this happens and when he does blow the horns a large firebird comes to fly him to the trice tenth kingdom. (Where Ivan makes amends to the Maiden Tsar and manages to win her love again.)

The idea that Meng Yao is different from Jin Guangyao and that everything is actually Jin Guangshan's fault kills me. I love fics and this fandom as a whole, but folks out here really like to sugar coat their uwu short king ✨.

Have you ever seen an even half-way reasonable argument for the death of Qin Su and the sex workers JGY killed off after forcing them to commit necrophilia? I swear if I see one more person claim he only ever acted out of fear and self-defense, I'm gonna pop.

No see, Qin Su, killed herself, and he was a grieving husband (but actually he was in love with Lan Xichen and Qin Su WHO, he was forced to marry the woman he impregnated, how sad, he really loved Lan Xichen). Never mind, we are just shown his literal torture and mo dao chamber he arrays off and took her in there as well. To then conveniently station her in the room with him, filled with an audience now with a dagger filled with resentment, after she just had a massive emotional breakdown and he threatened her with their committed incest because as the woman, she would be condemned even more so with no recourse and safety, if she didn't keep it silent.

And those sex workers were mean to little Meng Yao. They deserved to die and he wasn't at fault at all for a mass necrophiliac rape, because he has emotional trauma.

It wasn't his fault, but society (even though Jin Guangyao very much profited and coveted being the top of that society and when he was, nothing changed).
